hi girls
sorry i have been MIA, it has been a crazy time. i cant even remember when i last wrote.
we had an awesome holiday in Noosa - the weather was wonderful and we relaxed and played on the beach etc.
my last day at work is next thu and then i have a week off before i start at mny new role.
i have hired a nanny who starts today (!!) to do the pick ups 2 days per week, it will make it a lot easier for DH and I who will both be in the city. i am a little freaked out by what i have taken on (esp as it is 5 days per week) but i know it will be great
Noah is great - we had parent teacher night at kinder last night and they said he in wonderful - v bright and lovely and engaging, so nice to hear. they hadnt felt he was behind on gross motor either so i guess i can stop worrying about that all the time.
he is pushing a lot of boundaried at the moment, so i feel like i am doing a lot of disciplining, but i guess i just have a threenager, and i know we do get off quite easily.
J is delightful - 22 months this week!i canty believe when N was this age I had J already! he is so funny and active and just ajoy to be around. if he would sleep a ltitle later he would be the perfect package LOL!

MP, I was just thinking the other morning that when N was J's age you had a newborn! Sounds like N is doing really well at kindy. Hope that your last week of work goes well and you have a nice break in between. Good idea on the nanny too, will make life a bit less stressful for you. How is your rash now?
Trill, that is a long stay for your mum! I hope the diabetes place can convince her to control the diabetes better - you have said before that she isn't particularly careful with it.
MD, any news back on the most boring assignment ever? I am still spewing over the cheese thing! It is $17 a block for mainland tasty here. I think NZers are being taken for a ride with dairy prices - we all know that farmers are getting record payouts so we *expect* to pay more kwim? But obviously they can transport it overseas and sell it for half price!
Kindy back this week and W is loving it. Instant change in behaviour too. Starting to wonder what will happen over summer with 4 empty weeks and a newborn!

Arte, the diabetes is pretty good - I know she actually had been managing it well this time. The diabetic centre is also for a lot of pre and post op patients that have had amputations etc as well. Maybe you could look at childcare for W over that summer break? It sound like he really needs the stimulation so it would be worth looking into.
Prices per kg of cheese are expensive here too Arte, but not as expensive as they are over there that's for sure!
MP great to see you!! The holiday sounds lovely. I think the Nanny is a fab idea and I'm sure she will really help ease the pressure off you a little bit too.

not much news going on here. we are having a lazy day today cos we've been so busy lately, it feels nice to just be at home in PJs. started back at all our activities now so it's busy busy!
tomorrow we are going to the 'walking with the dinosaurs' spectacular! looking forward to it. L loves dinosaurs, so does J now actually too :)

oh man the walking with dinosaurs thing looks soooo good! our neighbour is taking her obsessed 4 year old as well. but i reckon leila would get too scared (man, the movie "tangled" freaked her out lol).
Arte: we pay about $13 a block. so now i just get a way smaller block of really good quality cheese and i find that it lasts longer...no cheese on toast for the kids unless they really really will eat it lol.
and let's not even talk about bananas ATM lol! bloody cyclones.
oh i hope that you dont have any family in Auckland that were affected by the twister arte. scary stuff.
MP: where do you stay in noosa? we havent been in about 10 years! pretty sure though that our family holiday will be adelaide...but we are so easily swayed for cheaper options ATM (which means travelling OS): travelling in australia is crippling expensive when you compare what bang you get for your buck.
Trill: i hope that you mum's spirit is ok. how is your sis coping?
AFM: well i have been the ULTIMATE housewife today :dance: vacuumed, mopped, cleaned, sorted the washing, dusted. baby is fed and happy and i am dressed lol. the house was crazy gross though and totally needed it. i even let go of the dream of going to a movie with marta today :o (but dont worry i saw that the film "babies" is on next week so will go see that LOL!).

Cheese eh? Well i pay about $25 for a 1kg block. :o And you've heard my yoghurt whinge. I did a budget a few weeks back and discovered we pay about $1500 a month in groceries. I was shocked. Vegetables are basically free, but all the 'luxuries' (like cheese) are so $$ that it puts our bills right up. Washing detergent is about $25 for a small box of OMO sensitive. Pasta is about $5 a packet..... you get the gist.
Trill- sorry to hear about your Mum. Maybe you should come and visit her........ and us. ;)
Cass- HAve you gone mad?? I got tired just reading what you achieved.
Im good, pretty over being pregnant. Trill don't know how you did it 4 times. This one has just about killed me. Fiji was good though. We put the girls to bed each night and then a lady sat with them while we dined out. It was great. I was worried we wouldn't have anything to talk about, but turns out we still do. :lol: It's good to be back in Aus, just working at filling up our schedule.
I just realised i've finally cracked 5000 posts. Sure took a while! Anything exciting in the 5000+ club???

Nah, not really JM LOL, but well done on getting to 5000! And don't worry, it was tough going with A's pg. As much as I love having babies and those first newborn weeks and all that, and for all the pangs of jealousy I get when I hear others are pg, I look at pg women with big bellies and I think thank gawd that's not me! I just don't think I could do it again physically, even though I never really had any significant problems during pg. Those grocery prices are crazy! But I'm not surprised. I'm looking forward to going away on holiday when the kids are older so they can fend for themselves for a bit while DH and I go for dinner or a swim or something together.
Cass, you've done well today! I'd love to see that movie too. I still buy bananas when I can get them, but our local supermarket hasn't had any for weeks so I can only get them when I go out of town where there is a woolies, but I am questioning just how is it that woolies can get great looking bananas and no one else can. Or maybe I shouldn't question that? ;) LOL

i have gone bonkers...currently doing up a risotto marinara...octopus and mussels and saffron and smoked paprika with a dash of fresh lemon and tomato :)

We still have cheap bananas, we get ours from Ecuador! I guess the bonus of having no shot at growing our own, we can be import whores. They do come with an ethical choice sticker on now too, which makes me feel like I am not endorsing child slavery.
JM, I would be washing with home made soaps if they charged that much for a box - I just couldn't pay that much!
With you on the pregnancy thing. I suddenly feel very old, too old to be doing this again. And I am not even at the really uncomfortable bit yet!

Yeah, if the girls didn't get eczema I'd be looking at cheaper local ones, (they come complete with how to wash in the river instructions!) but unfortunately they don't go well with S's skin.
Oh yeah, I'm feeling every one of my 33 years ATM.

I would have loved to take the kids to walking with dinosaurs, but it would have cost us well over $600 in tickets alone so we canned the idea

our school has a link to the producers and they had a T-Rex 'on the loose' at the school the other day! (we got an email about it when it happened and then it was in The Age too).

I am thinking of going tp Disney on Ice in July - deciding if J will like it or if we just take N.

I hadn't realised that walking with dinosaurs was on again - I think DD would be freaked out by it though. Disney on Ice would be cool though. I'm really tempted to take K to Mary Poppins, but not sure if it's for her or me!!
Bananas - even at Woollies they are $13 a kg so considering we have a really bad habit of letting them just sit there before they go into the freezer for banana cake (I think DH prefers the cake over the real thing) we haven't bought any for ages.
Off to Canberra for my sister's engagement party this weekend.

Walking with dinosaurs was awesome. Really well done. Not too long, exxy but pretty special. My boys were not scared at all but I did notice some other kids around us were scared and some people walking out with kids? Not sure what that means though?
I'm happy to meet at your place mp. What day of the week suits you best? Thursdays are my best day xo

I bought myself a banana at the shops and ate it then and there. No one else in the household seems to be complaining about the banana shortage...
We went to a mini walking with Dinos that was on at the National Museum, smaller scale and it didn't go for very long, but the kids were sitting on the ground in front of the stage so they all looked *very* big LOL. Few rapid exits by parents with small children. That was before E's day though...
Enjoy the party Cally! ETA I reckon Disney on Ice would be fabbo. But Mary Poppins best of all! Big Mary Poppins fanbase in this house LOL (I know *all* the songs)
