Kirley: the ergo cocoons look great, I looked at woombie before Elliot was born and was talked out of getting one, I wish I had done now! Glad William is playing ball on the day sleep.
Tan: also don't envy the task you have ahead of you. You seem to be very organised so i'm sure it will all work out fine! Good luck with persuading DH to buy Ergobaby!
Kellie: where has the last 5 months gone?! Elliot is still certainly behind all the other boys in weight gain, 6.6kg now. I don't know how cos he feeds 3 hourly still! Sorry to hear about your cubby house dramas!
We are going good ATM. Elliot is improving with his day sleeps which is bringing better night sleep but still having to be fed 3-4 hourly. I'm glad to say that we have managed to stick with our gentle parenting techniques and it's a slow process but feel that we are respectful of Elliots needs. He is still a happy and sociable little chap, I would like him to play with toys a little more but cannot seem to spark his interest in anything. He has done a couple of back to front rolls but is in no hurry to really develop, seems to have lost the ability to roll from front to back in return and now cried when having tummy time instead of rolling over! Does lots of push ups and can sit for short periods against something but nowhere near pulling himself up. I try and ignore my wonder weeks book that would have me believe that he should be undertaking chemical equations and astrophysics by now and that he is slow! Well not quite, but the stuff they say they "may" be doing about now, he's not really doing much of it at all! Oh well his time will come!
I have a job interview this week, been trying to do some studying which is interesting with a baby! I've been told there are 7 people being interviewed and they all have experience in the area the job is for and I don't :( Hoping that as I know the Manager and the Educator it will stand me in good stead but i'm not too confident! I have also applied for a job in my old emergency department, would hope to get that one but not sure I want it! Busily trying to get business plan sorted for DH but we're gonna take our time getting it off the ground. He is looking forward to finishing work and spending more time with Elliot, he has missed him while he's out working.
Hello to everyone else, hope all is well :)
-
hi again everyone
Kirley - my little man still hates tummy time too! Just a quick question, if Will gets used to having his day sleeps on the bed, how will you keep him there when he starts crawling? I havent yet decided on the solids approach for Lewis, with DD I made purees and it worked well with her, but she is a very fussy eater now. I've got no idea!
Shona - good on you for sticking with your gentle parenting techniques! Well Done! and good luck with the job interview!
AFU - nothing much new happening, Lewis has started waking again overnight around 3 am so Im wondering if he is starting to get ready for solids... still going to wait till 6 months though? The teething could also be whats waking him. I feed him and he usually falls asleep drinking and stays that way when I put him down, so its not too bad.
He has been sleeping well during the day too as long as we stay home (which isnt always easy with a toddler!). Fingers crossed his good day sleeps continue!
Hope everyone else is well!
Come in and say hi!
-
ahh kellie i didn't think of that *doh* prehaps i can nap with him?? :)
or he can just learn no! i guess i'll come to that when it gets here.
had one of the worst nights last night and a crappy day today! the mornign started off well but the arvo was well just crap.
i gave william some farex today cuz he has been watching us eat every mouthful lately. guna stick with that for most of the month though and maybe every second day. then move onto baby led...still have to take it slow anyway cuz of what he might be intollerant to. was going to wait till six months exclusive but he gets such a sad little face when he is watching us eat. it's pretty cute.
neway gota run.
hope you are well
-
Kirley - the only reason I thought of it was because I remember when Tahlia started crawling, she would wake up after 1 sleep cycle and practice crawling by doing laps of her cot! Same thing when she started walking too... would walk around and around the cot
-
Hiya Mamas
Hadn't been getting notifications despite having already subscribed - odd!
Kirsty definitely be careful with having him on the bed even if he isn't crawling, rolling off or inching off is just as easy for them! Will attempt to upload photos to fb of A making his way across our bed, quite the determined lad! It can happen when you least expect it like when Coop who wasn't even at standing stage and somehow ended up on the tiles from out of his cot! That was the day it was lowered to the next level!!! Will do a mixture of both spoon fed and baby led. A already grabs random things of our plates and shoves them in his mouth but he also shoves my purse, the mail, his foot and various other objects so not taking it as a sign of readiness. Hope tonight sees the two of you getting some rest.
Kellie I cannot believe Lewis is only 7.6kg he looks a darn sight chunkier than A who weighed in today at 7.9! Tis hard to stay at home with a toddler hey or harder still to stop the toddler from waking them - this gets me so cranky because I know A is a good day sleeper! When daddy or nonna have Coop, A will sleep so soundly often 2.5 hrs plus! He is lucky to get half hour stints with big bro lurking around the house!
Shona I commend you for sticking to your peaceful parenting ways! You shall be rewarded in due time for all your preservence! A is the same as E with little day sleep - still such a happy chappy! Best of luck with your interview!
AFM I am surrounded by more testosterone, the four legged variety. Not overly happy about it being sprung on me the way it was "can cooper have a dog when we move" "um maybe" "oh well there is a dog in my truck" "you are f*cking kidding" "no" - silent treatment commences! He is cute but very whiney as to be expected having just left his own mama =( Have had some boob refusal with my leftie again. Same thing happening as with the refusual about 2 months ago. Has led to an extremely engorged breast and blocked ducts - have been doing all I can to try get rid of them - I soooo don't want it to develop into mastitis. Been there, done that with Cooper and it is not something I want again! I think I got up about half a dozen times last night to reheat my wheat pack all while the chidlren slept *sigh* There seems to be a slight improvement but way off being back to normal - ouchie! Packing slowly slowly (oh so slowly) - ant issues today *gah* big day of washing all the insect spray drenched clothes tomorrow! A is continuing to get up on all fours and has started the 'rooting the floor' motion. There will be no stopping him shortly - eeep!!!
Trying to stay awake to watch parenthood - I love that show!! Til next time xo

Can I just ask whether Elliot is the only boy to have discovered his "boy bits"? Every time nappy comes off he grabs a handful and won't let go!! Typical male me thinks!
Tan: good luck with the move, ants and the dog. Your life is so busy, I don't know how you do it! Elliot is also grabbing at food and has started staring intently when we eat and mimicking us chewing.
Kirley: i'm not sure exactly what baby led is. We'll just take it as comes and introduce small bits of rice cereal with ebm first then puree fruits and veg I think. Elliot will still be mainly on breast milk for some time yet I think.
Kellie: good luck with the night wakings, hope it settles down some.
Thanks for all your good luck wishes, I fear I may need it. I am so desperate to get back to work, I am finding full time motherhood somewhat of a struggle and am getting increasingly frustrated at the lack of adult company I have from day to day. I don't think I anticipated how hard it would be and as much as I love Elliot to pieces, I need some time away from the house. That sounds terrible but with BF i've only had a total of about 4 hours away from him since birth and whilst I know that I will miss him like crazy, work may well just preserve some of my sanity. It's 12 hour shifts so only 3 per week so i'll be home a lot which will be great. I am hoping that with having EBM some nights he may even start to sleep better, well that's if I can express enough (fingers crossed).
Anyways i'm off to bed. Goodnight.

not just elliot...william has been doing it for a couple weeks now too ;)
baby led is basically skipping puree stage...or letting baby feed themselves from a spoon not an adult doing it. up until 12months its all about exploring, tasting, playing etc rather than trying to get them to be eating meals by 12months. i like it for a few reasons 1)i think i'm guna be too lazy to make up lots of purees at this stage. lol...that sounds bad but i'd rather spend that time doing something else. 2)gives them a healthy attitude to food rather than me forcing him to eat things. he is more inclined to like things (John is a fussy eater and i want to avoid that problem). 3)I have to introduce new things more slowly to him cuz of his tummy so this way he is still eating things that appear the same as what we are eating rather than something 'different' and hopefully if he always has to avoid dairy and egg etc then it won't be so noticeable that he is eating differently? and lastly also because of his tummy it means my chances of him being bf longer are greater if i let him just 'explore' food till hes older than 12months rather than make him be more dependant on solids than milk by that age and prehaps we will avoid this 'intollerant' status if he says bf for longer *fingers crossed*....does that make sense?
Tan good point about the things in the mouth etc....just curious other than being six months is there any particular cue you wil look for in Archer?
I tried again this morning but he totally wasn't interested so i didn't bother pushing the issue. i was just going to buy him teething rusks but all the ones in woolies have milk powder in them *sigh* do you know of any dairy free ones? so i decided on the farex instead to see how he went....
b bak later running late for morning tea with friends...will reply to the rest of you then :)
-
Kirley: i had a look at baby led weaning after I posted and it certainly makes sense. I hadn't really considered that puree was from back at a time when they started solids much earlier than 6 months and that it can make then fummy shen you introduce lumps. I was reading about letting them hold stuff with handles like lamb chops, there is certainly not enough money in this household to allow sucking on lamb chops, lol. Mentioned broccoli too, perhaps we could stretch to that! Might buy a baby led weaning book, Gill Rapley seems to be the most popular and I have found it for about $16 so might get it ordered so I can prep.
Pinky put a great link to the Dr Sears stuff on starting solids, i've put a link below but if it gets removed have a look on her FB page, goes through all the things you should be looking for to suggest that they are ready
STARTING SOLID FOODS
-
Tan – maybe lewis is shorter and thats why he looks chunkier? How long is Archer? I think he was 65cm. That weigh was 2 weeks ago too, so maybe Lewis has had a growth spurt since then?
Hope the refusal issues have sorted themselves out... if not, have you tried calling the ABA for advice?
A sounds like he is so close to crawling... wow! Lewis still isn’t even rolling, and even with tummy time he only holds his head up for short periods before he cracks it and face plants into the floor
Shona – haven’t noticed Lewis playing with his bits, he is mostly just interested in putting his fists in his mouth, but I’m sure his time will come! Thanks for the link too, I think we might do a combo of purees and baby led solids, still not 100% sure
AFU - had the most shocking night last night, I dont know whats wrong with my little man. He had been sleeping 10 hours overnight, and then about a week ago was waking for 1 feed overnight but going straight back to sleep. I couldnt even say how many times I had to feed him last night, the only time he was happy was when he had boob in his mouth! Luckily Tahlia is at child care today, so I managed a nap while Lewis was sleeping earlier.
Anyway gotta go, he is waking up
Talk soon
-
Kellie: sounds like you had a cracker of a night, poor thing! Hope tonight is better although we are due another "wonder week", we still haven't quite recovered from the last one, I probably won't really notice this one! Elliot was particularly bad last night up more times than I can count and really hard to settle, I try not to feed him as it seems to make things worse for us. I'm glad that Lewis is a slow starter like Elliot, we roll but that's it, nowhere even remotely close to crawling. Although it's nice to still find them exactly where you left them!
Gotta go and prep for my interview, got another one on the 28th for Emergency Department but hope I won't need it!
-
thanks for that link shona ;)

Hello All
Sorry it has been awhile but i have not had a computer as the laptop dies and I Have now got a loaner until mine is fixed.
Good to see some of the bubbas are sleeping well, wish i could say the same for mine. Day sleeps are still short accept he is starting to do a long one in the early afternoon but generally only if i am next to him to resettle him as soon as he starts to stir. Nights have not been to bad mainly waking around twice accept for last night i felt like i didnt get any sleep. I am hoping it was just a one off.
Kirley, sounds like william is developing lovely and he seems like a strong lil man. How are his day sleeps at the moment. How is he going with the rice cereal?
Shona, goodluck with the job interview? What will you do with Elliot if you return to work? looks like he is improving with his sleep?
I cant say Taz has discovered his boy bits, he is still to obsessed with sticking his hands and fingers and anything else he an get his hands on in his mouth.
Thanks for the link on solids and the book you are looking at, i might get it as well as i am going to do infant led feeding. I did do the whole puree thing with DD and she is a lil fuss pot, a couple of my friends have done the infant led feeding and have had good results.
Tan, You have a crazy life :) I cant belive A is starting to want to crawl, i guess he is trying to keep up with his older brother.
How is the boob refusal going? have you managed to get him to take it now?
I hope that packing is going well, do you have an official move date?
Kellie, I hope you got a better sleep last night. Looks like Lewis is doing well with his weight gain. How are you coping with having the 2.
AFU, We just had Taz's 4 month check (yes a little late) and he is 7.5kg and 69cm so going well. He has done a couple of rolls both ways but does not seem that into it. He seems more into pushing himself backwards while he is on his tummy, he seems to be ok with tummy time now and lasts longer if i am down there with him. He is also grabbing at everything that he can, it is amazing how quick they are. Thing have been going well with DD thought it can be a bit difficult when i am trying to get Taz to sleep or she is waking him up only after 10 min. I am really finding it difficult to get anything done at the moment.
Anyway the wee man is starting to stir and DD wants out to play on the swings. Sending out good sleeping vibes to all.
Hello to everyone else, i hope you are all doing well.
-
I am feeling soooo ripped off atm. Felt a bit dampish down there went to the loo and aunt freakin flo has arrived *sobs*
I have absolutely nothing in the house to deal with it and both boys are asleep so I have had to do a dial around to find someone who can lend a hand (or a tampon)
*yells at the top of her lungs* WHY ME?? Is this pay back for being uber clucky?
Re breast refusal A has cut another tooth which is the best explanation 3rd one not too far behind I don't think - he'll be eating rib fillet before Christmas at this rate! Growing up too fast my lad!
Have a super cute video of him 'inching' that I have been trying to upload onto fb but I am obviously too stoopid cause it just won't work!!!
Will be back later once I am all cleaned up =/
-
Awww Tan ya poor thing, Aunt flo has always got the worst timing. I am in no hurry for her to come knocking on my door.
Poor A with all his teeth coming through, hopefully now he will go back to both boobies.
-
Hey Bella, nice to hear from you again! How is Mia going being the big sister? Is she sleeping better now than she was at the start?
William is slowly getting day sleeps...still only 45minutes...unless like you the last few days ive got a longer one in the arvo if i lie with him. the last two days it's meant i've got a bit of a doze/rest/nap by doing it...so hopefully we can get into a routine of doing that cuz thankfully i dont have a toddler to run after as well! i duno how you ladies with two do it!
Haven't tried rice cereal again...give it a couple days break and then will do it again.
Kellie, it seems like us all (except maybe tan?) have had the boys wake up lots during the night for nothing else but boobie! they are definately little boys aren't they~~ William had bit better night last night. Still refused dummy to go back to sleep and cried until he got boobie everytime. I'm glad that I've mastered laying down and bf now otherwise i'd be super tired...however i think i'm falling into this habit of him staying with me (not that i totally mind but our bed really isn't big enough) and getting boobie every time rather than getting up and putting him back in his cot. And i think he knows i cant' be bothered haha and is acting upon it.
Shona,
William isn't anywhere near crawling yet either, although somehow he does get around....he constantly moves his arms and legs still and it's like he swims in imaginary water to get around. Today i left him on his tummy in the middle of his blankets on the floor and then when i came back out about ten minutes later he was off the blankets, around the opposite way (still on tummy though) with the bottom half of his body under the couch *scratches head*....i have no idea how he wiggled his way there, but he seemed quite happy just reading his book under the couch lol! it was rather amusing.
he has been rolling tummy to back a fair bit the last two days yay...it seems he has remembered how to do it....we nearly got a back to tummy but the book he was playing with was in the way and prevented him from fully rolling over...soonish hopefully!!
He is really good at standing though and pulling himself up to standing position when we hold his hands. it's so cute!
William's weight has been all over the place (thankfully not losing it though). For a couple weeks he didnt' put on any weight at all (not even 10g), however i think he was a bit sick cuz he went thru a puking after feeding stage and he hardly ever pukes - when he does its usually milky dribble anyway not puke. so last friday we finally made it to 7kg. the week before i had him measured in length and he was 66cm. I'm hoping with all this extra drinking he has done at night the past couple nights means a growth spurt.
Tan - aww poor you!! that is one of the last things you need atm. Your life is hectic enough! I do not want mine anytime soon. the 8weeks post birth- was enough for the next year!! How is that cluckiness going? I am still clucky (especially since John's sister just told us on the weekend they are expecting #4 and one of my close friends is expecting #1) however reading a DR.Sears book and am settling myself for whatever happens happens attitude. I really wanted to try for another bub when william was 6months....but since i havne't gotten AF yet and it is possible (however obviously not everyone is the same) that I may not get AF any time soon I am looking now at this time of enjoying William and getting to know him (and not making life alot more hectic by having another little one!).
Good work on the teeth...it's so sad seeing them grow so quickly! but it is pretty cool - it's even more awesome to see that they are totally dependant on me and still look how well they grow!! Life is amazing.
Well i'm off to get some shut eye before William wakes up (or DH comes home late and wakes me up)! night xx
-
Kir never fear A has been waking through the night too - am kinda glad as I have had wicked bad insomnia of late (I think it move related) and it is nice to have him up with me even if only for a 10 minute boobie pit stop. Last night he made it to 4am before a drink so perhaps this tooth finally erupting has given him some solace. Fingers crossed his replacement amber is in the mail today! The cluckiness is still strong, blaming all the newbies around us! 3 under 3 would be madness and yet we are contemplating the idea - wayne is just as keen. Be interesting to find out if I am still a text book ovulater and if af's return is a monthly one, anything is possible now I guess! And yes I know you will all think I am insane and you are probably all right0HAHA believe me when I say there isn't much else to do in Collinsville and Scotville which is why almost every female over high school she has a bub there - sad but true!
Cut short the boy stirs bbl !!!
-
For some reason I stopped getting updates, there has been a lit of activity!
Bella Mia: nice to hear from you, glad you have a laptop again! Elliot's sleep is all over the place at the moment but mainly rubbish, up so many times last night I lost count! I get all my books from a website called bookdepository.co.uk, it's UK based but free delivery and books so much cheaper than buying over here usually takes about a week for them to arrive. Can buy in $ too, I love them. If I get the job DH will be giving up his and looking after Elliot when I am working, which will only be 6 days per fortnight. On the other days he'll be starting his own gardening business so all go for us at the moment!
Kirley: sounds like William is making his way toward rolling, we have had a couple but he's not too interested in repeating it. Elliot's weight gain has really slowed down of late too, weird! Your new photo's are very cute, he certainly seems to be a fan of the crocodile!
Tan: sorry to hear about AF, not fair but great news if you want another little one. We were decided that we would have another soon after Elliot, until we realised what hard work it is! We'll be waiting a bit yet but at our age, obviously not too long. Good luck with the move.
My interview went fine, answered all the questions but the competition is pretty fierce so not sure how i'll go. Should have more luck with the ED job as there are 3 positions but I know it's chaos there and mega busy. There was an ambulance coming in with lights flashing while I was there and I found myself getting a little adrenaline rush, I miss it, which I think makes me officially mad!
Surprisingly Elliot has started solids this week. I was all planned to wait till 6 months but over the last couple of weeks he has been very intently staring at us eating and mimicking us chewing, alongside grabbing at our food. We tried him with a piece of banana in his hand which he promptly began sucking on and seemed to enjoy. Bought some feeding paraphenalia and rice cereal and thought I would give him a try, he already likes his high chair which is a bonus. Amazingly he loves it, been mixing the rice cereal with banana yesterday and melon today and he just can't get enough of it. DH fed him this afternoon and if he didn't move the spoon to him fast enough he started crying, he had to pick up the pace a bit! There was hardly a drop of spillage and now when he gets in high chair he starts opening his mouth ready, too cute! He can hold the spoon and sometimes gets it too his mouth but it's a little messy and it runs everywhere! I will try and introduce some stuff that he can hold and feed himself with but i'm not sure what yet. I will try him with 3feeds tomorrow, he polished off 2 tablespoons of the rice cereal this afternoon, such a guzzle guts!
I am wondering whether his terrible sleeping has been due to him actually being hungry, he has now been down for almost 5 hours which is unheard of, in fact I can't remember the last time he slept that long in one stretch! He did wake briefly but was put back to sleep without a feed, a huge step for us!
I now need to look at investing in a dual electric breast pump for going back to work. I will get lactation breaks which is great but don't know which pump to buy, thinking wither Medela Freestyle or Ameda, anyone any experience with either?
Anyway enough rabbiting on from me, got to get to bed. Goodnight.
-
I don't seem to be getting notifications either?! And looks like my ticker has gone bye bye too - curiouser and curiouser!
Shona that is awesome news! Elliot definitely sounds like he is ready for solids! Funny because I caved on the holding off until 6 months today too! A grabbed part of my sandwich at lunch and gummed it down no dramas so tonight I cut him up some cucumber sticks and he did the same and was most happy. I don't particularly want to start on purees as I simply don't have the time just now and I refuse to unpack all our feeding stuff  Will stick with smooshy finger food like bananas, avos and pawpaws in a mesh feeder. Re breast pumps I have a medela freestyle and it is brilliant, highly recommend it. The ambo adrenaline rush is a great sign, I am kind of envious I never felt that excitement when I did casual teaching perhaps because it is kidcentric it just made me want to be with Cooper more! Can't wait to hear how it all pans out for you! Oh and I had a think back today to last weeks grocery shop. Coop gets one of those mini trolleys if we go to Voles and as we go down the isles he will pull random stuff and say "need this?" most of the time it's a "not today" response. Anywho he piCked up a packet of tampons and said "need this" and I was all like "no mama won't need them for a long time yet" *sigh* he must of known something was up  maybe I will give him a lotto slip and he can pick the winning numbers for me! Will be moving to Hamilton Island instead of lil ol Scotville than!!!!
It hAs taken me forever to type this on my phone, best try get some sleep. There is some god awful doof doof coming from somewhere near by though so that coupled with this insomnia I have going on I doubt I will much! Have a fab weekend ladies!
-
lol at the tampon shopping experience tan....
no experience with either pump shona and great news with the solids ladies
i'm getting notifications here! yay for me for once lol
gota run
-
Just a quick update: Elliot went to bed @6pm last night, next feed 11pm, then 2am then 6am up at 7am. He stirred a bit inbetween but was patted back to sleep. Yay for us, what a great night. He's has a whole load of rice cereal before bed, he can't get enough! Can't quite work out what else i'll feed him yet. Tan, did you take the skin off the cucumber? Great day at the beach today, Elliots first dip in the ocean but he wasn't too keen it's freezing! Only had 1 hour of naps today so a bit unsure about how tonight will pan out!
-
Yep and deseeded it too. I got given an Annabel Karmel *sp?* baby/toddler cookbook that has some yummy recipes in it that I still use for the whole family! Tonight A had two roast sweet potato battons, just part of what we had with our meal. He must of thought they tasted alright because he gummed his way through both of them!
I am over the moon for you guys having such a good night! Hope tonight equals or tops it! *crosses fingers*
Must wrestle Coop to sleep he is full of beans *rolls eyes* midnight here he comes!!
-
Well....last night was a huge success! WOO HOO! Feed and bed at 18.00, woke at 20.30 but back to sleep easily, fed at 22.30 and bed with me then not up again until 03.00!! I sent DH to warm a bottle of EBM but by the time he came back Elliot had fallen back asleep so would have gone longer, maybe even all night!! We tried to feed him while asleep but he woke up. Up a little early at 05.15 but DH got up with him.
I've decided the whole feeding and sleep thing is a conspiracy! The sleep "experts" are in cahoots with the WHO who say no to food before 6 months and trick us all into thinking that there is 4 month sleep regression and change in sleep cycles, but really they are just STARVING and that's why they wake, hahahaha! They want to make heaps of money selling us all miracle sleep solutions and really all they needed was some FOOD damnit!!
Having said that i'm sure it will all turn on it's head by next week We'll be back to no sleep and waking a million times a night!
-
Oh shona that is FANTASTIC TO HEAR!! I"m so glad the solids seem to be improving Elliots (and your's) sleep! I hope it does stick around for you. Looking at your ticker is scary!! I can't believe our little babies are almost halfway to one year old! that doesn't seem possible that they have been around for so long~! and yet i cant' remember life without them.
Tan I also have an anabel receipe book. I havent' tried any more rice cerel with william, hoating those red deli rock rice coast today i was eating those red deli rock rice chips and i couldn't escape william looking at me in ernst to give him some...so i did. prolly shouldn't have given him something that was flavoured (sour cream and onion)...but...he LOVED it. lol. the rice was good cuz it just dissolved by him licking it. haha he wanted more but i refrained myself from geting my child hooked on chips! lol. so i put the packet away haha.
jsut guna be a quick one from me, but i thought i would dcument that we are going well with day sleeps atm. usually i document when i have bad days but not necessarily good days!
William was a fantastic baby today! We even went to the coast (an hours or so drive) to play putt putt and he even had a sleep in the car on the way there and while we were there (couldn't buy my sling cuz they aren't available in stores here yet :()....he has been waking up early still (5.30) so he has an early nap. And aside from rolling warnings i have still been putting william to sleep on couches and beds....and he stays asleep....guess he just didn't like being moved after rocking him to sleep then putting him down. I've only had one day where he kept waking...and i think it was due to me eating something i shouldn't have cuz when he did a poop he slept fine after. The tantrums seemed to have stoped when putting him to sleep (just a little whimper now)....and horray for us we are back feeding to sleep most feeds when we are at home (cuz mummy loves laying down to feed now!!)! makes life sooo much easier not having to sing nursery rhymes ten times over for half an hour only to have him wake up again. anyway off to do some work before bed! night all.
-
kirley:have you tried flavouring the rice cereal to see if he is more receptive to it? I read that BF babies have a sweet tooth as BM is really sweet and then the rice cereal tastes yuck to them as it is so bland. I tried some and it was disgusting, like wallpaper paste! We use mashed banana or melon puree just to give it some flavour and Elliot seems to really like it. He also prefers the Raffertys Garden multigrain breakfast to the farex. I still haven't done so much of the BLS yet, I tried giving him some banana but most of it ends up squidged in his hands!
Tan: thanks for that, I think I certainly need a book as I have no idea of what to give him. I can't get past the thought and worry of him choking!
Well it's 00.15 and I can't sleep but thankfully Elliot can. He went down a little later tonight as we had a 2 hour nap late this afternoon as he hadn't slept all day. He went down at about 19.00 and has been awake a couple of times but pretty easy to get back down. Tried a dream feed of EBM but it wasn't very dreamy as he woke up, DOH! I'm hoping that he will go through till the early hours without feeding but we'll see. We are also trying to get him into his own bad as DH doesn't want to bed share when I go back to work :( He is in his cot now, the basinette got too small and he much prefers room to stretch out. Takes up quite a bit of space in our room but that's ok. He doesn't seem to be protesting too much about being in his own bed, in fact he's never slept better! I'm glad he's ok with it, had I planned on going back to work so soon I may have re-thought the bed sharing although i think he'll still be in our bed a fair bit.

I feel like crap - that is all!
Actually I had typed a big vent and my battery went dead *sigh* lost it all.
Feeling most guilty that Coop if stuck indoors yet again. I have been packing for ages and seem to be getting no where! Archer is most unsettled and it has really unnerved me. I have never heard him cry cry iykwim and i'm not sure what's wrong. I am used to him being woken up but not refusing sleep altogether! How the hell-p have you all coped? You have all gone up a notch in my book! Wayne is doing another extended roster - I keep telling him there is a reason why loans have a life of 10+ years - so you can pay them off gradually this move was supposed to keep us together as a family more often but so far it has done the opposite. And we haven't even moved *sigh*
OK better end on a positive - well a kinda positive. Coop went to the toilet all by himself yesterday for the 1st time since Arch was born. It has been a long 5 and a bit months of regression! However I only think it gapurned because I yelled at the poor kid the day before for peeing on some books - our entire house is like one big toy room atm - back to the success. I was cooking dinner and I heard a flush i went and had a look and he had started to do a little bit in the lounge but must of held it in and gone to the loo, technically gone on the loo floor but it is a start! YAY pee on the loo floor has never made me so happy!
hope to bbl for some personals

*doh* i jinxed myself...now i'm not getting notifications to the thread. lol.
I tasted the ricecerel, i dont think it's that bad, just tastes like rice to me.....i also read the bland thing though - but it's a bit more difficult to mix things in because the easiest thing to do is banana and william can't have it; among other things
I have given him advocado the last two days though so i might mix some of that in next time. I think william is still a little young cuz he hasn't quite grasped the chewing concept properly. he did it a bit more today than he did yesterday...so for now i'll just stick to things that squish so if he gets something that is a bit to big for him it kind of melts in his mouth iykwim?
shona the squishing of the banana everywhere - kind of the concept of baby led weaning...it's messy...but fun :). did you see william's photos of the advocado!? haha i had it all under my fingernails...was gross but fun! haha.
i also had apple crumble this arvo so i mashed up some apple to a sauce and gave some to william...it was store bought so it prolly had a tonne of sugar in it, but i didn't think to buy any apples at shopping cuz i hadn't planned on starting him this week lol. so i think it's another trip to the shop for me! he seemed to enjoy the apple though (back to that sweet tooth thing)....i do have some sweet potato though so i might mash some up in a few days for him. he loves sitting in his high chair though! cant wait till he can support himself a bit more.
aww tan i hope archer is just having a bad couple of days; prehaps hes getting more teeth than you realise? did you order your amber? and yay on the wee for coop in the 'almost' toilet!! before you know it he will only have the odd accident and will always use the toilet! i hope that is sooner rather than later for you.....
maybe once you guys actually move in the new house then wayne may not work so much?? and then you can spend the time together that you guys planned? not sure if youve told us yet - do you have an actual move date yet?
Shona - was thinking bout the age of the boys, and really they are at the age of 6 months if you look at it in weeks - hence the eagerness of arch and elliot for solids? so prehaps still go by weeks for milestones rather than months? just a thought.
gota go but we have rolling happening both ways now! yay so exciting..he gets around the lounge room now! haha i also had him standing up holding onto the couch today lol. he held on for about ten seconds...dont think he'llbe much of a crawler!

Tan: I hope that life settles down for you soon, you really give yourself a hard time! Hopefully things will get back to some kind of normality once you have moved.
Kirley: I did see the pics of the avo, looked messy!! Yay for William on the rolling, Elliot seems to have lost interest alltogether so no more rolling in this house! I have used puree melon and stewed pear to flavour the rice cereal, Elliot seems to like both thus far.
we have had some great nights, finally! Last night we went out for dinner and Elliot was a joy sat in the high chair and he atge garlic bread and a hot chip, oops not exactly what I had in mind for him to be eating but kept him entertained! I had fed him at 5pm before our dinner and we put him to bed about 7pm without another feed, I was sure he would be awake before too long but he didn't and I gave him a dream feed at 9.30 and he didn't work up till 1am!! A straight 6 hours sleep, count em 6!!!! He was in his own bed too, he is so much more settled in his cot but he did come into bed with me at 1am then not awake again till 4.30 then we slept in till 7am. I am praying it continues!
I am gonna be so pee'd off if Elliot starts sleeping through just as I go back to work!!!! I have put up with this for 6 months and he'll be sleeping through for Dad I reckon, little monkey, it's a conspiracy I tell you!
Anyway, almost bedtime for me. Hello to everyone else :)

I am actually starting to worry about myself - I am having really high highs and super low lows, which is very unlike me. Typing that now has bought me to tears GAH plan on making a doc appt I feel like I am on the vege of a breakdown... Yes perhaps things will return to 'normal' once we have moved and see settled but honestly don't think I can put up with myself that long - waiting on paperwork to be returned from the bank that owns the house so another 3 weeks after that gets back to us.
Egocentric post - sorry must go to bed xo til next post!

 Tan, I really feel for you and i'm certainly not surprised you are having such an emotional rollercoaster. I think what you are going through would test anyone!

awwww Tan a big hug to you and i hope a good night sleep has made you feel a little bit better. I think you are amazing in all that you take on and with 2 littlies. I think i would only get half of what you seem to get done in a week. Could AF contributed to your up and down feelings?
Wish we could all come and having a packing B at your house to help you out. :)
Yay for Coop and the wee in the toilet.
Shona, great news on Elliot and his sleeping efforts, hopefully the solids will do the trick for Taz. Great news on the job and i think it is great that DH is able to look after Elliot, what a great bonding time for them. I wish DP workplace could be that flexible. j
Kirley, YAY for the rolling, it is always nice when they do something new. How is the solids going? you may find with avo and sw potato you might need to add some water of EBM to thin it out a little. I had to with Mia.
AFU, We are crap. I never get sick and this year Taz and I have just got our second cold. I have a sore throat and Taz is very clingy, grizzley, snotty and sleep is all over the place. For the past 2 nights i feel like i have barely slept and when i have it has been sitting up with him on my chest. Poor wee boy, i hate when they are sick.
As for the rolling he has rolled both ways but does not seem that interested, he is pushing right up on his arms and the other day he tried to bring his legs up but he has not done it again so it could of just been a one off for now.
Kirley, DD is going well she is back to her usual self and she is good with Taz most of the time. He just loves her and when she is around he is always smiling at her.
Anyway going to get off to bed now and hope for a better night.
