william up on all fours however plonks back down flat to crawl/slide (unlike your quick little monster tan!)
um..yep thats about it for us....
sorry in the middle of working so i can't waste time writing more :)
hope you are all well.
tan hope you are settling into your new house well.
congrats tan..
well, back from hols yesterday mroning, fab time, very little sleep (think taking bub to a timezone 3 hrs behind..ie 7am here is 4am there..ouch early mornings...)
umm.. think i brought something else back with me too (although more likely i took it with me).. just did a pg test (about an hour ago) and still shell shocked..new fandangled one that tells you how pregnant and apparently i'm having another bub..ah ha ha ha ha ha...sh*t!!! haven't even told hubby yet but figured you ladies with the toddlers and bubs can tell me it'll all be fine..ha ha ha.. 14mths between..
well, still early days, prob only conceived a couple of weeks ago so only 4 wks gone.. won't be telling anyone else for a long while.. considering last time was super healthy and this time, spent past 2 weeks drinking (tho only 1-2 a day as started making me feel sick..hmm wonder why!!) eating lots of choc and only started folic acid about 4-5 days ago..it makes me a little cautious this time.. good news is that judging by times we DTD and my likely o date, it is more likely to be a girl... fingers crossed as i don't think i could do a third!!!!
anyway, sorry to be all about me and not read posts i missed but bit shellshocked.. will be back on soon.. ;-/
Woot woo Anita! Won't you be busy! Had your period returned? I have had 1 cycle - started on 24 Sep still waiting for the next - no secret how clucky I am HAHA not sure if I am PG or just not on regular cycles yet!? Haven't had a chance to pee on a stick yet. Perhaps we could be BB again HAHA.
Family friend is having her 2nd next year and bub has same due date as her 1st - 12 months apart. I know lots of mamas with small gaps and from what I see it seems "easier" than the 21/22 months I have - not as independent, not as mobile, etc...
Hi Tan.. that's reassuring, thanks, yes I figure it's better to beat the terrible twos LOL!!
yep, had first proper one in sept (and a little spotting in about aug i think) but second one was due this week (i'm always on 35 day cycle) but hasn't arrived..i just was thinking about being pregnant a lot so thought i'd try a stick just in case, really didn't expective a positive..
didn't realise you were clucky again, oh my goodness, having 3..you'd be super super busy.. ouch!
ps quite excited at the latest developments wiht our young man.. we have da da daetc, he stands up (with help) or pulls self up against edge of bath, been sitting solo for quite a while and is now rolling b to f and f to b.. and rushes around in his walker.. not crawling yet tho, i have the feeling he's gonna go straight for walking at this rate LOL!! well, best get him breakfast.. keep your fingers crossed that the hideous 24hr morning sickness doesn't hit this time.. if it's like last time it could hit anyday :-(
oh wow HC!! congrats. i'll keep my fingers crossed for a girl for you :). Hopefully you dont get morning sickness quite so bad!
i have also heard the closer they are the easier it is :) heres hoping.
Hope you get to catch up on some rest with the timezone change too.
William is up on his hands and knees and rocking now trying to crawl :) he looks so cute and so big! same as HC, we also have 'da da'. had it for a couple weeks. had 'mama' when upset for many months. quite a few ppl have heard it too so i know its not my imagination hehe.
still putting on the weight here too which is great. had him weighed last wed for the fortnight and he'd put on 410g. he was just shy of the 8kg mark but we turned his car seat around anyway. i was so over the tears everytime we went in the car. he loves being turned around! it's so cute watching him look out the window at all the different stuff. hehe.
Shona, how's your new job going?? How's DH handling being a stay at home dad?
Kel, have you tried again with solids yet or just waiting a bit longer?
anyway off to do some work for me...again..all i do these days is work! guess that's what happens with three jobs!!
HC: congratulations, never a dull moment!
Tan: how has the move gone?
Kirley: work going great thanks, DH is having a ball being a stay at home Daddy he loves it!
Elliot is also trying to crawl but unsuccessful as of yet, we too have Dada. They are growing up so quickly!
Hello
HC, OMG congratulations!!! How are you feeling? Have you told DH yet?
Tan, How is the new house? I cant believe how quickly A is developing. Your 2 are certainly going to keep you on your toes. Hows did Coop go with the move?
Kirley, How is work going? How is William going being with his dad in the evenings.
Shona, that is great news that DH is loving being a stay at home dad. Are you enjoying being back at work? I wish that DP and i could do 3 days a week each but i his work does not have that flexibility.
Wow congrats on all the moving, chatting growing bubbas. I cant believe how fast they are growing up and how quick it is going. I get a little bit sad about it sometimes (especially as i am leaning towards not having anymore).
AFU, We seem to always be busy with trying to get out so DD can play and socialize. Taz is doing well he finally decided last week that he will start solids and i am mostly been doing the infant led feeding but breakfast is with a spoon. I think i forgot how messy it can be. I am hoping that now that he wont be needing the boobs as much i might feel less exhausted all the time and have some energy to play more with DD.
Taz is also making the Da Da sound and is sitting up Solo (i still have the cushions all around him though). No sign of crawling here he is more into pushing himself backwards. I am thinking this week i might try putting him in his own bed as DP has 4 days off and so he can settle him without the boob.
Anyway got to run as Taz is ready to go back to bed.
what a busy morning of posts!!
bella - dh only had to have william two nights cuz i had stocktake and it was at night. the rest of my working has been during the day. there has been quite a few arvos that he has had him and for once i can only give DH compliments :). he has got putting him to sleep down pat! he's done a fantastic job - even remembering to change nappies!
at night though we aren't sure if william is in pain or having bad dreams or just chucking tantrums. he wakes up screaming and is inconsoleable for a few minutes. nothing works. he just rolls over and over in pain and has huge tears down his face. we have sidecar-ed his cot to our bed in attempts to get more space back for us; however william doesnt' like sleeping in it much. he still much prefers to be on our mattress. i think his cot mattress is too uncomfortable as its alot firmer.
neway gota go eat some lunch...i'm starving!
hi all!
just a quickie stop over payin bills online - poo! HC how g0es the pregnacy? i am still waiting for AF's second coming, 3 BFNs from HPTs - must have a funky cycle... Shona and Kir - how are the working mamas? Everyone else gearingr up for chrissy? what are you planning on [Bgiving your little ones? [/B]we are going to airlie beach for a week... ma and pa spagnolo will come down YAY and they are shouting us poor mortagees LOL still not done unpacking but only because we have no cupboards... meh over it! started working on the front yard so that is keeping me busy. still referred to as Miss S despite not teaching - i have a pavlov's dog response to the bell that sounds at the school across from us and pressure from my old boss to return.. um NOPE! not until A is 1 at least! no care options anyhow! must get ready for playgroup.... till next time (in a few weeks time....
Hey Tan.. not good re the unpacking :( mind you, i've been home from hols for 2 weeks and still have stuff in the spare room that i took out of the suitcases before going and haven't put away..oops!
pg going well.. i think! i'm hungry all the time but no real ms as yet, just get a bit nauseous / cranky etc if let self get really hungry, cos of blood sugars i guess. Not sure exactly of dates at the mo, thought i was 6 weeks now but according to the super duper new hpts that tell you when you conceived & the doc blood test i'm only 5 weeks right now.. will do a dating scan in two weeks and find out for sure. pretty sure the ms kicked in about 6 week mark last time but here's hoping that i avoid it this time  mind you with being starving all the time i've gained a kg already.. i'm trying to make healthy meal choices so far (for all about 8 meals a day LOL!) but if the ms kicks in like last time who knows.. it was bacon sarnies all the way for the first trimester..! dying for the scan though so i can SEE i'm pg as i still don't feel it half the time, it's not as all consuming ast the first one cos so busy with shea.. not even reading books at the mo about pg... did have a dream last night that i was bleeding tho :(
Kirley - you must be super busy love with all those jobs.. sounds like you'll be even busier shortly when William figures out the crawling thing LOL! Shea is getting up on knees and trying to move legs but hasn't figured out having arms up at same time yet..think he's too fat to support himself ;)
best move, off with mothers group to a playcentre today.. making myself keep doing the tues meet up tho it's gonna get harder now i have a new job too (at home, choose own number of hours but really i need to do at least 10. dunno when as my challenge already keeps me busy and quite frankly i would love to be napping now.. forgot how tiring pg was)
hi to all you other busy mummies
hi all. Just a quickie as i'm at work. All going great and loving being back. Elliot and daddy having a ball. Shocker of a night last night i assume due to teething. Off camping on friday first time with the little man, should be interesting. Off for 5 days which will be fab, gotta love 12 hour shifts so many days off! No pllanning done for xmas was going to buy elliot a smart trike but dh hated it only bought him a couple if fisher price toys so far. Not working xmas or new years day which is a bonus. Anyway gotta go break over back to the grind for me.
Take care everyone.
oh, re xmas, i want to find shea one of those pushalong carts with the bricks in, he loves standing up!
hey everyone :)
Re christmas presents: William is getting lotsa toys from mummy & daddy & santa and my parents....ie. little people sets, a couple little trucks where you pull the string and they rumble along the floor, some mega blocks, one of those little cars that you walk behind/sit on and a crocodile toy xylophone.....he's getting a smart trike for his bday. i also got a new clam shell set from a friend really cheap so i'm hoping my inlaws will fill it up with sand for christmas.
Tan: I feel ya on the no cupboards. i've done tupperware for about two years and i have soo much stuff and only two cupboards in my kitchen. we have a miners cottage which due to its age, ppl mustnt have ever had cupboards!!
HC: how are you going with feeding Shea now? prehaps the pg is the reason why he really went of bf...i've read quite frequently that that happens? lol i'm still eating 8 meals (well it feels like it) a day with just feeding william.... i couldn't imagine how hungry i'd feel if i was pg again too! i would definately have to get dairy back in my diet to have anything to eat!! i'd run out of things to eat.
Shona: how is elliot's sleep going at night now (on a non teething week)?? is he better? We got up to about 4 times in a night at least :S a couple weeks ago, then i got it back to just one feed but lots of wakings for a few nights....then it goes back to lots and then last night was just one again :S he can't make up his mind!!......he still wakes ALOT though. not quite so much when i'm in bed too but when i put him to bed he's waking every 30mins (not even a sleep cycle) crying and i have to resettle him. I dont know why he is still doing this crying thing when he wakes up. its almost every time. there is maybe one sleep a day that he doesn't do it.....during the day he used to just cry if he was still tired and he would go back down for another 45mins after waking up; but now it's all the time. :S any suggestions
hows everyone going with the solids?
re work: yes i have been soo busy and sooo tired! haven't being doing my one from home very much cuz by the time i get home and do dinner and the dishes i'm sooo exhausted. i couldve fallen asleep feeding william last night at 6.30 however i dragged myself out of bed for a few more hours. wrapping christmas presents and cooking dinner. i think i may have taken a little too much on :S....but its a bit late now; and we realy need the extra money cuz all our bills come in jan/feb (house insurance, rego x 2 , rates and electricity) and we just spent $500+ of that money i had on our cat :S he was sick again! vets are sooo expensive.
anyway gota go and get ready to go out....having lunch with my friends at the park today (our usual wednesday outing) ~ oh and i'm uber clucky!! i know quite a few ppl who are preggers.....DH's sister (with her fourth); one of my close friends (with her first), a work mate (with her first), HC you are again, and my other good friend who had her baby 7weeks before william is pregnant again!! ahhh i've never wanted AF so much lol....but at the same time i'm like no i really want to raise our house and build in underneath (i need to do my job from home consistantly for a couple months at 15hrs a week before the bank will give us the money)...... i'm not guna stop bf william just to get AF back (and i think the AF thing is a combination of bf and losing weight :S).....and DH and I still have a lot to sort out regarding that stupid dumb xbox.....unfortunately for me; even telling him i was contemplating leaving if he didnt' start cutting back and we had a mediation with our friends to sort stuff out who told him the same thing or they would support me leaving....*sigh* so no sexy time really = no more babies!!
Hey everyone, where are you all? Gets busy this time of year doesnt' it?!
So i want to ask your opinions.....and hopefully i'm not going to come across like i think i'm better and know it all - cuz that's not what i mean but i know just typing it will make it sound like that?
Shona how did you go with that 'friend' of yours - the one that was all for routine and whatnot and commented on what you were doing with Elliot??
I have this friend, who is absolutely lovely. We meet up every week with another two friends and their babies. She had her baby only three weeks before William was born. 7lb something baby - who since after the first two weeks has been off the charts (below them) with weight. Anyway long story short; lots of drama with reflux and only recently sorted.....
my question is; how could i possibly tell her/suggest she try things differently without sounding like I think she's a bad mum?...cuz she's not. I think she's done a fantastic job coping with her bub with undiagnosed reflux for pretty much six months to a point that she would just scream all day and hold her breath to a point of passing out (at least 12 times a day). I dont know how she got thru it but she did~~
I understand to cope and keep her sanity she went with controlled crying; and i've already offended her once (without intending too) when i asked her why she did it when the evidence shows its not really very good); and so i dont want to offend her again.....
We were just chatting yesterday and her bub crys every time she trys to feed her solids. She's just starting to eat more than she used to - i suggested prehaps she was started too early on solids and wasn't ready (she started at like just before five months i think)I understand theres a huge weight difference between her and William and so stomach sizes are probably different but she eats 1/4 of the amount of solids William does and probably has about the 1/4 the amount of bf's. I gave her a couple of suggestions of what i feed William and the order and how much but she was just like 'oh ok' and didnt seem interested in trying something different. This bub also sleeps from like 7pm-6pm and has received bottled water previously in the night to tide her over and is scheduled bf's. Even her rice cereal is made on water rather than breast milk (to which she was very surprised that i expressed every morning just so William could have milk in his cereal).....now i know milk isn't mandatory to have but if William was underweight i'd be shoving my boob and food into his mouth as often as i could?! i do that now even when he's not probably very hungry. Her bub is doing everything developmental wise fine, sitting, climbing, looking around, standing, pulling her self up etc....there is no problem there...shes just not even 6kg yet and shes 8 months old....she was asking yesterday if it's 9months where you turn the feeds around to be solids first and then milk later....I shared with her the 'food is fun till their one' philosophy and said that i dont strictly follow the bf first now just because of how frequently william sleeps i follow his pattern, but i wont be making him depend on solids until after he is one (and i shared the fact that he only has dinner twice a week, the rest of the time its just breaky and lunch and arvo tea). Again she didn't really comment much on it. so i'm kind of worried that shes going to be totally dependant on solids soon which would benefit her so much less than if she was bf more frequently.
but then i was confused cuz when we were talking about weaning she was saying shed like to feed bub for quite a while longer yet (again there were terms and conditions of how bub behaved while feeding). so it was like she wants to rely on bf but yet when it came into practise it seemed she was setting their bf relationship up to fail over the next few months.....
i know some babies are just small but looking at both her parents build i wouldn't have expected her to be so petite....
so long post short...any suggestions on how i could 'suggest' she try something different or should i just leave it well alone and let her do her mummy thing.
hey kirley how are you love? it sounds like your friend is following some of the tizzie hall stuff to me.. she recommends switching milk/food around 9mths I think.. I've got shea on the 6.5-9 mth routine now although I have him in bed 6.30-6.30 not 7-7 (& he's having a dreamfeed but i've brought it back to 8.30pm and am phasing it out now over next cpl weeks) but i do the rest the same i.e. naps at 9.20am & 1.20pm and milk feeds around 6.30 / 11/ 3/ 6 and food at 8, 12 & 4.30 (a bit earlier than routine or he won't take a good pre-bed milk feed). saying that i'm flexible in that when he seems really hungry i'll slip other milk feeds in.. it's a bit different tho as my milk is almost gone, only about 20ml a time, so he's mostly formula now (tho i do express enough for cereal etc).. anyway, thing i've found is if i feed him more often in the day then he starts snacking not taking a full milk feed (you notice it more when it's a bottle cos can see exact amount) and then he can catnap rather than sleep well (because he's not as full) whereas as soon as i started a routine properly again he started feeding better & sleeping better (a couple of naps in day, usually 1 1/4 - 2 hrs each).. I guess my point is that routines can work if you're flexible with them & can give a pretty contented baby so it's not a case of them not working. However, itdoes sound like your friend is struggling wiht her little one eating etc.. have you maybe asked her if she's spoken to a baby nurse (wehatever they're called) about her bubs weight & if they're concerned about it? if not then maybe encourage her to speak to someone, cos one thing's for sure none of us listen to those close to us ;-) but if they think the little girl is doing ok then there's probably not much you can do - we all have experience of people telling us we should do things differently when we feel we're doing the best we can.. sorry if that's not much help.. my pregnancy brain is all over the shop now ms has kicked in again...!!
HC thats no good on the ms.
thanks for your reply....no shes not flexible....when she had to get her supply up at one point she would express rather than put her baby to her because she wanted to makes sure that bub didn't think she could get milk whenever it suited her.
she told me yesterday that the midwife who was weighing her told her to fatten her up by giving her baby custards and things from a tin....which just adds to my confusion...why give a baby that stuff when you could simply give her a couple extra feeds of breastmilk...contains no sugar or dairy or egg that shes really not meant to have yet at this age?
thanks for your info on routines....yeh i know they can work, and i would love to have one i could time - but i just dont see any flexibility at all and it seems to be about bub suiting my friend; rather than them both adapting to suit each other.
meh..maybe i'll just leave it alone and if she asks then i'll tell her what i do. that way its not affecting her directly but instead is food for thought.
