Hi suz - Happy 6 month birthday Ryan! :confetti: It is definitely less stressful to ride out the wonder week than fight it. I was expecting next week to be bad (26 weeks is supposed to be the stormy period) but she seems a little different today so it may have shortened the fussy time. I hope so. And yes, I did order the BLW book through the ABA...it arrived today so I'm off to read it now since the girl is in bed (by 8pm 2 nights in a row )
-
Awesome Hannah! You go enjoy that early bedtime and the chance to read :)
We've had a seriously fussy last two days with Ryan pulling off heaps and feeding more often. He's been madly chomping on banana, rusk, fingers, bath toys, and drooling like mad. The drool's so bad that he has a rash under his chin :( I left the boys with my Mum and SIL today while I had my hair cut and they turned the house upside-down looking for the bonjela. Sure enough, after they went home I noticed that Ryan's second tooth had cut through. He's also doing this weird commando / caterpiller hump / crawly thing. We tried rice cereal on Sunday and he pushed most of it out with his tongue, but when I tried again today he wolfed down the whole lot and opened his mouth for more! With so many new things going on I hope this means we're almost out the other side of this WW.
-
Hi Hannah - I'm so pleased for you, I take my hat off to you (read my post below) - I don't know how you do it, I'm having a bad week with sleep and I'm not coping too well!
Hi Suz - poor Ryan with his toothy pegs, no sign of teeth here but lots and lots of drool amongst everything else this week! I hope I'm almost out of the WW too, can't handle much more than the week I'm having!
AFM - well this wonder week is doing my head in! I was at mums group yesterday and the girls got to witness what happens when she suddenly gets tired at the moment, (of course they've never seen it before as she's always the quiet one) she just goes from happy to chucking a tanty in a second and I had to rush off. I'm having to cuddle to sleep again and she's waking half a dozen times in the night, sometimes completely awake and needing cuddling back to sleep. I shouldn't complain as I know a lot of people have this all the time but I tell you I take my hat off to anyone in that position because I'm really struggling this week, I'm so used to my routine and Amelia being a good sleeper since week 9 that I've forgotten what it's like having to deal with the interrupted sleep etc. Anyway, I guess it will pass but in the meantime how do you just "ride through it" like you suggested Hannah, I want to but I'm finding I'm stressing about it! I don't even want to go out at the moment in case things turn ugly, it's just easier to be at home. I can't keep cancelling appointments and visits with people over it. Also, she's been tugging at her ear when getting upset - the back arches etc etc....she has always tugged at her ear when really tired but she's completely scratched behind her ear she's been so bad, I'm wondering if that's part of the tantrum or if she has a sore ear. I'm going to keep her GP appt Monday for her vaccs, even if they won't do them because she's had a cold I'm going to take her anyway to get her checked out.
Well, she's whinging again, she's been up since 6.00 am - an hour earlier than usual so is ready for her nap now, I'd best take her to bed before hell breaks loose!
Hope everyone else is having a better time of the Wonder Week/6 month growth spurt than me lol!
xx

suz - Well done Ryan on doing so many new things. I hope he calms a bit now that another tooth is through. I find Amelia gets a little better with each new thing she does.
Alison - I'm not sure my way of riding through is going to be any help. Whenever Amelia gets upset and I can't figure out what is wrong I just put her on the boob. When she was waking at night, I'd feed her and then sleep on the couch with her (a big no-no, I know, but I can't feed lying down) because she would only sleep for 30 minutes at a time. I still don't get a lot of sleep, but there's a lot less tears and it's less stressful than trying to fight it. It's still a good idea to get out of the house every day though, even for just an hour or so. I usually just go for a walk or go shopping just the two of us. Or even just hop in the car for a drive. Something that keeps us moving and I don't have to worry about 'inconveniencing' anyone else. How does she sleep during the day? I've given up on housework and sleep when Amelia sleeps. I'm not sure about this but I've been told that ear tugging can be a sign of teething. I guess if their jaw is aching. It'd be worth seeing the GP on Monday anyway in case it is an ear infection.
AFM - Took Amelia to the osteopath yesterday and she slept for 12 hours from 7:30pm! I didn't get to bed until 1am as I am making a lovey for her and haven't made much progress lately. Then I woke up at 6 needing to express. I managed a couple more hours later as DH was supposed to take Amelia out with him. But she was asleep when he left so he didn't take her. I didn't wake up when she did right away and she was going great guns when I finally did wake. I'm too scared to fall asleep when I'm on my own with her because it is so difficult for me to wake. Even though Amelia is sleeping better at night, she's been really unsettled during the day so I guess this WW isn't over yet.
DH went to the GP about his sleep apnoea this morning. She told him he's not getting enough deep sleep and he should try some natural supplements. She also suggested he go to sleep and wake at the same time each day. I asked him if he told her we had a 6 month old baby. Her response was that it would do Amelia good too. I've tried that but we both end up tired and grumpy. It might work once she's a bit older but for now the best thing is to let her sleep when she needs it. Now I feel like I need to go back to protecting DH's sleep again, but that's what I was doing when my PND started to get out of control.
Sorry to come here and keep whinging but I know you girls will understand.
ETA - This GP also suggested putting Amelia in daycare to help get her into a routine and to give me a break. WTF?! I can't handle it so I should just pass my daughter off to someone else? Maybe I shouldn't have had her to begin with...as much for her sake as for mine. It doesn't help that today is 14 years since my dad died...He's now been gone for half of my life.

Hello Dear Friends,
First, I'm so sorry for being MIA. I am. Truly. I think about you guys all the time and am so grateful to see you all on FB. I've been so bloody busy between Master Jack and freelancing from home.
Anyway, I've had orders from the doctor to SLOW DOWN so I will spend some of the weekend catching up on all of your gossip and news. I miss you!
ATM - Jack and I had that flu that a lot of you had/have last week, and my cough just wouldn't go away. As you can imagine, my sickness was the last of my worries with a sick little baby, so I probably didn't take care of myself properly. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I've been diagnosed with pneumonia. Now I know why I couldn't breathe at night! Fortunately I've been given plenty of drugs to help get me better so hopefully it won't be long.
Jack got over his flu really quickly and is back to his happy self. I got so excited today because he went from sitting up to pushing forward to his hands and knees. After a few seconds he plonked onto his belly but it was still a cool moment. He's also trying to pull himself up on things, which isn't so cool. I worry he'll really hurt himself.
Can I just have one little whinge? You guys are the only ones I can confide in. Basically, I'm a bit upset with DH. I told him that I was going to see the doctor about my cough and he was like, "Why? You're fine!" and when I told him what the doctor said he was very...unsupportive. He hasn't treated me any different and still expects me to do everything around the house, including making his breakfast, lunch and dinner. Last night, after I got back from having x-rays on my chest, he was very happy for me to go and make dinner while he was at the computer doing work. I felt pretty ****ed off. After reading that I feel like I sound like a princess. But do you know what I mean? I would have loved for him to give me one hug, one kiss on the head and just some kind of attempt to look after his sick wife. :(
-
Hi Hannah - I'm sorry you are feeling sad today, I'm sure your dad is extremely proud of you and is always with you, I strongly believe that. And that GP is a d*ck...sorry but how is that a solution, pass your child onto someone else, was it a man doctor? You are doing an amazing job and look at it this way mate, you can conquer anything after this and if you have another bub you watch, it will be a breeze....I'll probably have the opposite and won't know what to do with myself, I'm struggling after 5 bad days as it is! People are chosen for a reason, you get what you can handle I reckon. You don't give yourself enough credit, you are incredible! xx
Hi Carmey - my goodness pneumonia, geez that's serious sweet.........you take care of yourself and don't do anything, DH can get stuffed. Sorry, I'm in a mood about DH's this week because mine has been the same, you're not alone! Amelia has been difficult this week with a cold and wonder week, last night I was trying to get her to bed, luckily she self settled but most sleeps this week she's been fighting going down by bucking, arching her back, pulling at her ear (it's all scratched behind the ear), face going red, it's so hard....anyway, I was trying to put her to bed AND do the vaporizer and I said to DH, some help would be nice, no response. So I get her to sleep, come downstairs and as I'm at the bench filling up the vaporizer to take back upstairs, DH comes over to the sink with his bowl (we'd just eaten dinner that I had cooked in the slow cooker) opened up the dishwasher, saw there were dishes in there to be put away, closed it again, left his plate on the bench and walked off! I just looked at him and lost it, I said, excuse me, would you like to help me out here by putting those dishes away and filling it back up with the dirty ones and his response was.............."I'm busy on the computer trying to fix the problems"!!!!! I went mad.........our computer has been freezing so he was re-installing programs to see if it fixed it (which it did) but I couldn't believe he just casually said it like that and sat down and continued. I swear if I hadn't have gone back upstairs with the vaporizer for Amelia I reckon I seriously would've gone up, punched him in the face, told him to F off and go. I was furious. Why don't they get it? All I've heard all week is, well you go back to work and I'll stay home....like it's friggin easy looking after a baby - even when they're well and not going through a wonder week, it's fun but it's not like it's a walk in the park is it! And when I had gastro 6 weeks ago and so did Amelia, remember I asked him to come home early to help and he got home at 4.30 pm! It wasn't until he got it 2 days later that he realised how hard it must have been for me. Can you cough all over DH so he gets it? ha ha
HONESTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
So there you go Carmey, did that make you feel better? lol My house looks like a bombs hit it this week and quite frankly, I don't give a crap. They have arms and legs, I used to work all day AND come home and do this stuff so whats the difference for them!
-
-
Hi Carmey - You don't sound like a princess at all. Maybe it's time to sit down and have a good talk with DH. If he still doesn't get it, just stick to what you need to do for you and Jack and, as Alison said, DH can get stuffed. So what if you don't cook dinner? I'm sure he's quite capable of getting it himself. Failing that, send him Alison's way - she's all fired up today  Pneumonia is serious, and you don't want Jack to get it (but its a good sign that he's over the flu). Look after yourself hun  The more you rest now, the sooner you'll recover and can get back into the swing of things. In the meantime, rest, rest, REST!
Thanks Alison - It was a woman doctor! I've had a bit of a cry and feel better now. It doesn't help that the in-laws are arriving tomorrow. I don't have any problems with them, just stressing about having other people in the house. My house looks terrible and I don't give a crap either. Very unusual for me, I'm usually running around trying to clean before MIL comes.
We're off the visit mum. She's still in hospital as now she has a chest infection. Hopefully she'll be able to come home tuesday (my birthday). That'll mean this has been a 3 week stay. TG she got private hospital cover.
-
ha ha am I ever all fired up, go me!
Hey Hannah, you're a Gemini too, me too!!!!! I'm the 12th June, how weird! My mum is on the 2nd June. Hope your mummy is out of hossy soon xx
WTF - Amelia has been asleep for 2.5 hours! Is this normal? From 45 minutes 2 days ago to now this....I hope it doesn't mean she's sick. Is this part of the growth spurt? Now I'm worried she's sleeping too long, you can't friggin win!
-
Ahahahaha. Alison, you just cheered me up! Thank you. You're too funny. What is it with these blokes? And Hannah, I think I'll take your advice. I'm not cooking anything this weekend! I really don't feel like it and he should be able to do it...
Anyway, have a great night guys. xx
-
Alison - Ha ha. It's so much fun learning all the things you and I have in common. Maybe the fact that we're both geminis explains it. Amelia's long sleep could be part of the growth spurt or she could be making up for waking so much at night. I hope she's not sick too.
Carmey - I'm going to hold you to that. I don't want to read on Monday that you wound up cooking this weekend. Have a good one.
It looks as though mum will be home on Tuesday. So far she's gotten oral thrush and a chest infection WHILE she's been in hospital. At least they sorted out her pain, but I'm sure she wouldn't have gotten sick at home. :crossfingers: she comes home next week.
-
Hi Girls!
Carmey - No you're not being a princess, you have pneumonia! Sheesh! I hope your DH comes around and is a bit more supportive so you can get better. Why is it that as soon as our DH's are sick that we have to do everything and nurse them as well, but when we are sick no one looks after us and we're still expected to do everything?
Hannah - The thing that sucks about advice is that the giver usually means well. But you don't have to accept the advice and the fact that the GP suggested you put Amelia in childcare does not mean people think your a bad mother for wanting to care for her yourself no matter how hard it gets. I wonder if she has kids? Or if she put them in childcare early? I know that before I had kids I couldn't understand why women wouldn't let someone else mind them if it was offered, of course things are different now! :crossfingers: I hope your Mum is well enough to be out of hospital for your birthday. Hope that your Dad's anniversary isn't too tough on you today. What's a 'lovey', is it a blanket?
Alison - Even Ryan has been waking up crying and hasn't done so since the last WW. Then he sleeps in. I think I read that they sleep more just as they hit the end of the WW? Now I have to pull the book out again :) Just work with Amelia and fit things around her, but don't give up walks or time out of the house. It'll be over soon and there's a nice gap before the next one.
AFM - DH is away down the coast (riding his dirtbike now he's all healed after his accident) and it's raining here. I was supposed to have Boot Camp this morning, but our trainer cancelled (too many of us away). My parents, brother and SIL and her kids are coming over for BBQ dinner tonight, so I'm planning what to cook before heading down the shops. Ryan's still unsettled, so we're not out of the WW yet. It was just his feeds that were affected, but now it's sleep too.
-
:confetti: Happy 1/2 Birthday Michael!!! :confetti:
-
Hi girls....I have been trying to post since yesterday morning!!!!! Finally last night I'd written the whole post and BB decided to log me out then back in again for some reason and I lost it:cry: ...And guess what! Now I can hear Harry:wall::wall:
So in short Hannah :hug:and for the doctor:angry:
Carmey So NOT a princess!!!!! DH should be ashamed of himself!!!!!!!!
Alison Hang in there!
Suzi Good tooth growing Ryan! A go all the new skills!:D
Beany Happy 1/2 B'day Michael!:confetti:
Hi BS Glad you got through the first(second) week of daycare hope the gastro's gone!
Harry can wait no longer I'll be back with my big whinge later....hopefully...they really need an exhausted and completely over it emoticon!
-
suz - Thanks for the perspective. Yesterday was just a really bad day. A 'lovey' is pretty much anything that bubs attaches to, like a security blanket or favourite toy. I'm making a knotted doll (well 2 actually so that she still has one while one is in the wash). I've had the fabric cut out for weeks but having had a chance to sew it until this week. Enjoy the BBQ tonight. Hang in there, this WW is almost over.
willow - Grrrr for the lost post :computer: I hope your okay
beany - Happy 6 month birthday Michael! :confetti:
-
Hello my lovelies!
Thanks everyone for your support over the last week, listening to me whinge and crap on! I THINK and I say it in capitals we might be nearing the end of the WW, pray pray pray! Amelia slept so much yesterday, 3 hours and then after 1.5 hours went back down for another 2 hours, she only woke twice last night and just fussed didn't wake up and this morning she finished her bottle without fuss and went back down for another hour's sleep! We had swimming today as we didn't make it Wednesday, she loved it and guess what, she kicked her legs in the water for the first time and put her feet in her mouth for the first time today! Isn't it funny how the wonder week is so real...it's not until they suddenly start doing new things it really hits you. That book really is amazing isn't it. She loved swimming today, she was really vocal and laughed and squealed in delight, was so cute. DH took some video footage but mostly took pics, I was hoping for more video footage, grrrrr. The girl from work that annoys me was there, didn't speak to her that much as she had a friend from her mums group there, didn't bother me as I had the same ha ha. Her daughter is so tiny though, I don't reckon she's getting enough milk and she said she hasn't put on much weight in the last month and that she's been pulling off the boob but she's not worried, WTF! This is the one who let her newborn sleep right through the night without waking her to feed, hmmm. Anyway, it's best I don't see her too much, things like that just irritate me ha ha. Also she didn't introduce me to her friend from mums group which I thought was rude, I made a point of introducing her to my friend from mums group, I actually said, is that your friend from mums group and she just went yeah and said her name but didn't actually say anything else. She probably whinges about me to the girl like I do about her ha ha! Oh well, who cares eh! DH really doesn't like her, I guess all the months of me coming home from work telling him things she would do and say put him on the wrong foot from the beginning lol....he said her baby ooks like an alien as she has massive eyes that just glare at you....he's kind of right but still it's not nice to say is it (quietly have a chuckle).
Anyway, guess I'd best get going, lots to do when Millie Moo wakes up.
Hope you are all well today and HAPPY 6 MONTH BIRTHDAY MICHAEL....can't wait to see you in a couple of weeks at our Perth girls catch up. xx Amelia is 6 months old tomorrow too, where on earth has that time gone!
-
oh Alison, i do hope this is the end of the WW for you..
maree has been unsettled as well :( she is just being very clingy today and not sleeping like she usually does.
carmee: you are not a princess, well you are but your not IYK|WIM.. lol
you are sick, u need some help around the house and it isn't to much to expect or ask for. hang in there hubby will come around.
willow, poor thing i hate loosing posts, here ready for your big ramble :p lol
the biggest dilema we have is deciding where we want to move to once we have finished renovating this place
-
OMG, I finally have internet access again!!! I don't know where to start! So much has been happening both on my end and everybody elses. And even BellBelly has gone and changed everything on me with this new format! I have missed everyone soooo much. It was funny, I was feeling really low one day after I'd just moved in to the new place and I was feeling a bit lonely. I put it down to new place, new city etc but then I realised that I was actually missing you guys! I'm used to all the instability in my surroundings but not my online life!
Well life has just been crazy. We packed up in Tassie, stayed in hotel in Sydney for a week, moved into our new place, went to Perth one week later, went down to Margaret River, back to Perth and now we're back in Sydney. (Sorry I didn't manage to catch up with the Perth Girls but was only there for a night on either side of Margaret River for the wedding - will do a proper trip later in the year). I'm not sure if Matilda has been through a WW fussy period or not. It's hard to separate what's fussiness and what's just our chaotic life. Actually she's dealt with it incredibly well and actually LOVED the trip to WA because she was surrounded by adoring grandparents, aunts, uncles, great grandparents, cousins, and the list goes on. It made me realise babies need to be around lots of people and not cooped up at home alone with their mum all day. It's just unnatural and modern life is sad like that but what do you do??? But all three of us came with a cold the night we got back to Sydney. Sounds like absolutely everyone has had them! Amusingly Matilda coped better and complained less than DH. And predictably I've been looking after everyone while trying to get over the cold myself. DH stayed home from work on friday and went to Bed for the WHOLE day. Now wouldn't that be nice! So Carmey, Alison, Hannah and everyone else having a vent, I read your posts vigorously shaking my head and tsk tsking your DHs. But DH has perked up a bit and started carrying the load a lot more over the WE.
Matilda is just being devine at the moment. I just love this age! She's so happy and playful most of the time. We've started solids as well. One meal of rice porridge with pear seems to be going down ok. But a lot of it ends up all over her and me. She loves to grab the spoon, suck it, chew it, rub the food all over her hands. A bib really doesn't cut it. Anyone have any ideas? Or do we just resign ourselves to three outfits a day? Now we're home we'll start experimenting more with different foods. Her sleep has been very inconsistent at nights. Sometimes she'll only wake twice sometimes its every hour or two. And the cold didn't help. So she'd ended up in bed with me a bit and we've kicked DH out. But her day sleeps have been much better. You just can't win! We still feed to sleep most of the time, but she's not insisting on it like she used to and will let DH settle her which is FANTASTIC. And during the night she'll occasionally self settle after a feed if she hasn't fallen asleep on the boob. We're living around more extended family in Sydney so I'm getting a LOT of opinions. I'm constantly being told to let her cry, but it just doesn't feel right yet. I think she's gradually learning to fall asleep herself and I have the luxury of giving her the time because she's my first. She's developing an attachment to a cardigan my grandmother knitted which helps her settle but I'm not sure if I should be discouraging this and getting a more appropriate lovey that could be replaced etc. And whether the cardy is a safe lovey, I don't know. What do you think?
Anyway, I'd better sign off before she wakes up. I still have so much stuff to do. Some of our boxes arrived on Friday and the place is a shambles. I will try to catch up on persies real soon. But hugs to everyone. And just quickly I hope your mum improves real soon Hannah! And Carmey, pneumonia, OMG!!!
-
Hi Girls!
Hi Tilda - so nice to hear from you again, so bummed we didn't get to catch up while you were here. Us girls are meeting next week, can't wait to see them again. I'm glad Sydney is going well for you, sounds a bit more civilized for you lol. Matilda must be growing so much, you will have to put some updated pics on FB for us to see. Isn't this just the best age, I'm loving this age and wish Amelia would slow down in the growing stakes!
Hi Hannah - Happy 6 months to your Amelia. Can you believe it's been 6 months for us both, I can't!
Hi Willow, Suz, Kawazuki - hope you're all having fab weekends
Hi Beany - how's Michael, is he coming out the other end of the wonder week?
Hi Rose - how are you lovely? Hope Liam is settling down for you too. Looking forward to catching up with you and Nic next week.
Hi BS - what's happening over your way? Keep the piccies coming on FB, I just love your photos. How is Eva now, all over the gastro? It's not nice is it, I can vouch for that personally! Amelia is finally over her cold, thank goodness. I tell you, the Vicks Vaporizer was a lifesaver for us this past week. Nothing like dealing with them having a cold and a wonder week and teething all at the same time!
Hi Mon - hope you are well also, isn't it gorgeous in Perth today!
Hi anyone else I've missed - how are we all?
AFM - it's stunning weather here in Perth today, just beautiful, the sun is shining and it's just glorious. And yep, you guessed it, after last week my mood has shifted and I am a happy chappy again! So far it looks like the wonder week has come to an end, my goodness what a horrible/hard week that was! Amelia is back to her usual self and is self settling to sleep again, not chucking tantrums, finishing her bottles etc etc. What a relief! I noticed yesterday she started to come good again and it was so funny because she started doing new things yesterday right on cue, feet in mouth, copying us with her mouth when we speak to her - she makes shapes with her lips like she's trying mimmick us ha ha. We took her swimming yesterday as I didn't go on Wednesday and she was kicking her legs in the water for the first time and squealing with delight, it was awesome. Everyone was laughing at her she was so entertaining. So glad DH was there to see it. Although, grrrrrrr - he was supposed to film the swimming but he only took pics and one pathetic 2 second film, WTFFFFFFFFFF!!!! Not happy Jan. Oh well, never mind. I went there yesterday feeling happy because I weighed myself yesterday and was down another 600 grams and another cm from my tummy but looking at the pics I look like a big fat heffar still......I'll be putting them on FB and you can see for yourself, I'm almost too ashamed to put them on really, yuk!!!!! So, this week's goal is to get stuck into some arm weights again and more exercise, I haven't done nearly as much as I should have. But, I'm halfway there, another 2.5 kgs will get me back to pre-pregnancy weight and I'll be happy, another 3/3.5 kgs and I'll be stoked!!!!!!!!!
Well, best run, Millie's asleep so want to finish putting some washing away, mostly her clothes mind you, the girl has more than me!!!!!! The 00's are looking a little tight these days so out come the 0's I think, my little girl is growing too fast. BTW, I think I have a super tall girl here, she's longer then all the boys in my mums group, it's embarrassing! She's going to tower over me....I just hope she's not super super tall, she might have trouble finding a boyfriend ha ha. Just kidding. (this is coming from me who's 5'3") so everyone is tall to me. :o
Oh and HAPPY 6 MONTHS OLD TODAY to my baby girl, I can't believe 6 months ago she entered my life, I don't know what I did with myself before she came along, she's brightened up my world in so many ways. The only thing I miss is a Sunday sleep in ha ha!
-
Hi Tilda - So great to hear from you! I'm glad the move to Sydney has gone well and that Matilda coped well. Amelia is also much happier if we get out of the house everyday. I think I have seen 'bibs' that have long sleeves, more like a smock really, but I can't remember where. That's great that Matilda is starting to self settle. Aren't you glad you followed your instincts? You gave her what she needed and let her decide when she didn't need it anymore. I guess the same goes for the lovey. It'd be hard to discourage her since she decided on it herself. How big is the cardigan? Would she still settle if she was wearing it? Or maybe remove any buttons so they don't come off by accident.
Alison - Happy 6 month birthday to Amelia :confetti: Your post reads much happier than the last few. I'm so glad Amelia has settled back down for you again. Woohoo for Amelia doing lots of new things. It's great watching them learn and grow but I also miss the tiny, helpless newborn. Well done on the weight loss!
AFM - Happy 6 month birthday to my girl! :loveshower: We've had 4 good nights now. Last night she slept from 10 until 7 this morning! Right now she is playing on the lounge room floor. She's attempting to crawl but mostly goes backwards. She is getting her legs underneath and lifting her bum off the ground though, so she has the idea, just needs the practice. Oops better go, I think she's had enough. She's making frustrated noises. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.
-
Hi girls!
Argh, I'm way behind again with no time for personal replies. So good to see you posting, though, Carmey and Tilda!
I think that we *may* be coming through the other side of the WW as well. These last few weeks have been really, really hard - Liam's been so unsettled, hardly sleeping and needing 100% attention all day long. He's normally high needs, but this was crazy. During the week, I was pretty much on the verge of a breakdown about it all.
The last few days he's been different. His sleeping has been better - he's still waking 2-3 times a night, but feeding and then going back to sleep almost straight away (though we did have a few sessions of grizzling last night due to wind). But during the day he's been way more settled - much happier to be put down and amuse himself for a little while. Though as I'm typing this he's sitting next to DH and grizzling a bit - probably because he's tired, due to only having three 20 minute naps today. I hope that means that he'll sleep tonight!
We were planning on moving him into his own room this weekend, but since he's been better, we decided to leave it for a little while, mostly because it's much easier feeding him at night with the crib next to our bed (as opposed to on the other side of the cold, cold house!). Though it would probably be a good time to move him while he's settled, really.
He's been super smiley, too. And seriously obsessed with language - he'll just sit for ages and watch you as you talk, or put his hand on your mouth and throat as you talk. And imitate the shapes of our mouths. It's pretty damn adorable. He's still doing well on solids, too - eating his rice cereal and some veggies. I need to weigh him, since I think he's gained a fair amount last week again.

Hi girlies!
Thanks every one for the half--birthday wishes!
I haven't been on in aaages...so busy! Sorry if I miss anyone, I thoguht I'd quickly write a post while I have a spare min....
Carmey - What the??? If that was my DH, I would have given him a fair serve! You are certainly not a princess! And even tho I'm home all day, and he comes home for lunch, I do not cook him anything, I barely get time to sit down and relax myself so I'm not going to start making him lunch too. Make sure you start taking it easy, you need to get better! xx
Alison - thats great Amelia is coming out of the WW...I'm beginning to wonder if maybe we're just entering it....(see below) Is your DH tall too?
Hannah - thats great about Amelia's sleeping! Maybe she's got the hang of it now! And great that she's making attempts to crawl too :)
Rose - Sorry to hear you have had a rough week, hopefully you're coming out the other side. Thats super cute about him watching your mouth & imitate you, gorgeous! :)
Tilda - Yay! Welcome back! Gosh, you certainly have been busy. I"m glad Matilda has been going great, lovely to hear :) I dont' see a problem with a cardy as a lovey, but as Hannah said, maybe remove the buttons if there are any.
Kawazuki - I hope Maree is sleeping and eating better. Sounds like maybe a wonder week for you too?
Hello to anyone I have missed!
AFM - UGHHH. Michael was waking literally EVERY HOUR last night, from midnight onwards. Typical, I'm going into work today so he's going to be all cranky for everyone. Doh! And yesterday we went to DH cousin's Confirmation, at the church he was great, sat quietly for over an hour during the service. Then at the end everyone clapped and he started crying...from then on he was just crying when we were outside the church catching up with DH family, but then his family are so darn LOUD...they were all coming right up to his face and sqwarking at him and crowding around him. Poor little darling. Went home and let him sleep...only just over an hour, then went out to the restaurant they all went to afterwards...big mistake. It was sooo noisy, he was crying at anything and everyone. And same thing, they were just all crowding him and shouting and being noisy. I just wanted to grab him and run out of there american-football style. Poor baby. And everyone's like..."gee, he cries a lot" No s*** mate!!! Perhaps if you get out of his face and stop shouting at him for a while maybe he won't? He's never like that, never. My poor little darling. I wonder if that affected his sleep last night maybe?
He's been rolling heaps too...only back to front tho. And sitting up, he can't pull himself up yet, but if I sit him he can support himself and doesn't fall fowards or sideways, but sometimes backwards still, on the odd occassion.
Another bath-related question...how does everyone wash their baby's hair? How do you stop the water from going in their eyes? And what baby-washes does everyone use?
Ok, I really need to get ready now...feel like I have so much more to write, but need to get a wriggle on! Hope you are all keeping well! xx
-
Rose - I'm glad Liam is happier and sleeping better. I hope you're able to get some much needed rest. That's so cute that he watches and tries to imitate you talking.
kawazuki - Congrats on your market place membership. How exciting! DH was not too impressed when I mentioned it to him....I've spent waaay too much on nappies lately. I hope Maree's WW isn't too hard on you.
beany - Poor Michael. Amelia doesn't like people in her face either. She much prefers to watch people for a while before she'll interact with them. It could have been the reason he slept badly last night. I find that Amelia doesn't sleep well if she's had a stressful day/evening.
I use Gaia bath products on Amelia as they're all natural. To wash her hair, I just put a couple of drops on her head and rub it in. Since she doesn't have a lot of hair yet, to rinse, I just wipe over with a wet flannel or pour water from my hand. I have been pouring water over head from a cup to get her used to the sensation. I just put my hand over her forehead and make sure her head is tilted back before I pour the water.
-
Hi Girls!
Hannah - I wasn't sure that I made much sense, but I'm glad you understood what I said about the GP's 'suggestions' :)
Beany - Craig used to be great at big gatherings like weddings and christenings until speech time when everyone starts clapping, then he'd cry. Poor Michael, I'd say that's why he kept waking up last night. Hope you have a better night tonight.
With the hair washing, we do the same as Hannah. I wet Ryan's hair with a wet face cloth, then a tiny bit of shampoo, rub it, then rinse with the wet face cloth again. For Craig, I have a special jug with a soft side that sits against his forehead so the water doesn't go in his eyes (from Big W, about $10). I use the Curash shampoo 'cause I like the smell, but Ryan has my sensitive skin so might go for the Gaia or something else next time.
Hope your trip to work goes well today :)
Kawa - Saw DD's new pj's on FB, very cute and look really warm. Congrats on your marketplace membership! Your story about DD breaking your scales cracked me up. Craig's about the same age and likes to hop on the Wii Fit board, I'm lucky he hasn't discovered the scales hiding behind the bathroom door. Has Maree got her appetite back?
Rose - Liam sounds so cute watching you talking. Good luck for when you move him to his own room, I'm sure he'll be fine. Sounds like he's finished his WW :crossfingers:.
Willow - Damn I keep losing big posts too! I forgot to reply to you about using overlockers to hem jeans. You can use an overlocker to do hems, but IMHO it's easier to use a sewing machine. Plus if you only want one machine to start off with then the sewing machine is more versatile. I saw your FB status the other day 'gentle Harry!' Ryan also wants to give me big kisses and grabs my face really hard.
Alison - You seem so much happier :) You're doing really well not to have gone backwards with your weight loss. This week should be a good one for you now that Amelia's happier and your family are over the bugs. Bummer about DH not getting much video of the swimming lesson. You always make me laugh when you talk about your colleague with the baby :D
Carmey - If you're reading, I hope you're feeling better and your DH is helping out more.
Tilda - Great to see you! Big W and Ikea have bibs like little smocks with arms. Cotton on kids have nice big bibs. Glad to hear you've settled in to your new place.
Brussels - You must be flat out with work!
AFM - Halfway through the BB 12 Week Weight Loss Challenge! Off to Boot Camp tonight and looking forward to it. Ryan cried at me today until I gave him his rice cereal. His appetite has increased now that he seems to be finished this WW. Both boys kept waking up at night with DH away but were fine last night with DH back home.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
Now, let's see if I can post this one without losing it...
-
Sorry I have been MIA. We have had a really bad few weeks will explain later.
Suz Great work with the 12 week challenge. How ironic the boys were waking up while DH was away.
Beany I feel your pain with waking every hour. I would say it had a lot to do with Michael's stressful day. Poor little munchkin. I wash Jett's hair with a little bit of shampoo on a face washer only every 3 or so days and use a face washer to run water to wash it out. Jett got cradle cap
quiet bad and GP said it could be a build up of shampoo.
Kawazuki- Love your fluffy stuff fan page. Can I ask do you make bibs? or would you? I am finding it really hard to find nice Boy bibs. Plenty of girl ones.
Rose- Liam sounds like Jett. Hopefully it is the end of the WW for you.
Hannah- Great work for Amelia sleeping right through can you ask her to send some tips through to Jett.
Alison- Glad Amelia's needles went well. Just think 6mths without any, however I am sure the 12mth ones will be hard.
Tilda- Glad to hear you have settled in. Good girl Matilda for being so good for you.
Carmey- So not a princess DH needs to help. Hope you are feeling better.
Willow- Hope you and little Harry are doing well.
What a hell of a time we have been having. Jett has been waking between 5-7 times a night. I am so exhausted. I tried to get him to take a formula bottle about a week and a half ago as I was exhausted and I thought that way DH could help and Jett had an allergic reaction to it. He took about 20mls of the formula and within 5 mins was covered in a red rash. Took him to the GP who said to try another formula and after only 5mls he had the same reaction. I am waiting to get into a Paediatrician, to see what I can do. We started solids over the weekend and Jett seemed to enjoy it which is good. He has only had cereal. I really hope this is a WW that seems to be taking a little longer to get to the other side. Jett has also worked out that he can squeal which is not very good. At the moment he has been asleep for almost 2hours, I should have lied down too but have too much housework to get done. Argh just as I wrote that he has woken. Argh
Well hope everyone is on the other-side of the WW.
Sending lots of hugs & kisses to you all.
Will try and get on more regulary.

Hi Lovelies......well Lani & Beany, that definitely sounds like a Wonder Week to me. Amelia was the same, couldn't handle people/crowds and was waking heaps at night. My friend from mums group went through it last week as well and her little boy woke every hour for the whole week but she just emailed me this morning to say he's back to his old self again. She's exhausted though too. Don't worry, it feels like forever but it will pass soon I promise, Amelia is fine after her horrible week last week. Seriously, I nearly took her back to the hospital and asked for a refund! ;) You just have to ride it out.
As for washing Amelia's hair, show offs - she doesn't have enough to bother washing yet so I just use water at the moment ha ha. Like Hannah though I use Gaia products, Curash have some nice products too but the Gaia are the nicest in my opinion. Oh and Lani, that latest pic of Jett is just gorgeous!
Yay Beany for Michael rolling. Amelia is going all over the place now she can roll both ways. This morning I was getting breakfast and left her on her playmat, I went to come back into the lounge area which is attached to the kitchen and she had rolled almost into the kitchen, it was quite funny! Mind you, I think it means I now need to start "baby proofing" everything! Why are they growing so fast! DH was talking about baby number 2 yesterday, he wants to start trying at the end of the year, I'm a bit scared, especially after last week, that was a trying week that one!
Anyway best go, Amelia's having her nap after her needles, she only cried for 30 seconds, I was so proud of her. Especially as after waiting in the waiting room another 6 month old came out screaming from her needles and did so for 10 minutes, made me even more nervous!
Oh and Beany, DH is just under 6'3" so yep he's tall, I'm only 5'3" so she didn't get the height from me that's for sure ha ha!
Have a lovely day everyone, for those going through the WW, I feel your pain but know that it will end soon and don't fight it, just go with it. Try not to stress, I did and ended up dizzy by Friday night from stress and lack of sleep!:o
xx
-
Alison I so know what you mean by saying you want a refund. I keep telling DH Jett is broken and we need a replacement. He keeps telling me he will fix himself.
If this is a WW it have been going on for nearly 3 weeks now ARGH
From what you are all saying I am sure there is light at the end of this tunnel.
Alison so glad Amelia took her needles in her stride.
-
Oooh, there's been a flurry of activity this afternoon!
Hannah - thanks for the tip re washing hair...thats kind of what I have been doing, but Michael refuses to tip his head back, he sits up in the bath now and is constantly splashing and trying to grab things, so its really hard! This Gaia stuff sounds nice...do they sell it at Coles and stuff, or chemists? Is it soap-free?
Suz - oh yes, I've seen those cup things with the softy bit. I think one of those will definitely come in handy, maybe when he's a bit older. I hope thats all it was, just the stress of yesterday waking him up. I really hope its not a WW thing thast going to last all week :(
Lani - Gosh, sorry to hear you've been having a hard time. How scary with the rash! Have you tried him with formula since? I know what you mean about not finding any nice boy bibs!! Finding nice boy-anything is hard!! I get so disappointed when I go to Pumpkin Patch and they have the most adorable outfits for the girls, and all the same boring stuff for the boys :( I tell you what, I'd be spendign up a storm if I had a little girl!!
Alison - Nooooooooo! Please don't let it be still WW stuff! One night like that was bad enough, I'll be beside myself if I have to go through a whole week! :( Thats great Amelia is really getting around! 6'3"! Goodness me! Yes, I'm guessing she gets her height from her Daddy!
AFM - Went into work...Michael was actually a little angel the whole time! I should have known :) So, basically they told me they were struggling to find me work to do (I wasn't guaranteed of having any work there), but as it turns out the Payroll Officer has just left so they want me to look after that. They were hinting at 3 days a week, but I said I can only do 2. They seemed ok with that tho. So, its not accounting work, but I've looked after the payroll there before so it should be ok, plus they'll pay me my old salary, so thats good! Was great seeing everyone again, I actually quite miss it. I think I miss my old life, the routine, the drives into work chilling out listening to the radio...I had it so good there! Ah well, on to bigger and better things (ie Michael!). One of the women at work told me a childcare centre had just opened opposite work, so I went to speak with them....hmm...when I told them I need care from September onwards the woman kindly told me "not a chance in hell" and "you won't get in anywhere now, you'll have to look at in-home care". Just lovely! Grumpy cow.
Ohhhh...DH cousin is undergoing IVF treament and today is the day she has her 2 "embabies" implanted (if thats the right word). I really really hope it works for her, she's wanted a baby for ages and she's just the most coolest, nicest person ever. We were both trying at the same time, but nothing ever happened for her, so she is now trying IVF. They got 5 decent sized eggs, 3 of them fertilised and they're having 2 implanted. Oh pleeeeaaseeeee.....
Thanks everyone for your suggestions re baby washes - I have only been using water on Michael since he was born, mainly cos the CHN told me not to use anything else, esp since his eczema. But I've been putting prescription cream on it and its slowly disappearing...hoping to use some nice smellies on him soon (stuff good for sensitive skin)...hence the request for suggestions!
-
Hey everyone!
Sorry I have been gone for a while, but I have been realllly beat with work, Eva, and DH being difficult to manage (I'll get to that - What is up with the Dh's lately???)
Ok, so I hope I don't miss anything or anyone but if I do, it's totally not on purpose!
Carmey, pneumonia!!! Holy crap! Well, let me tell you what I think, since I have been having a few DH issues to - I think that you and I are a bit similar in the overachieving habits...what happens is that our DH's get used to it and then they forget we need help. I think you need to have a serious sit down with DH and then learn to chill out and rest. Slow down your working out, slow down the housework, slow down everything except for you and Jack time. I try to take care of Eva prepare dinner, do the shopping, work out, keep the sex life going, stay good looking...it is tiring and sometimes DH starts slacking and I realize I need to remind him to wash up or wash the bottle after feeds, or do dishes, or make ME dinner. But my DH is super supportive so once I say it once he totally jumps into action - men just need to be reminded sometimes, just don't let it get to the point that you have not said anything for a while and you get so mad that you don't want to talk to him anymore...Talk to him asap. And stop doing everything! You don't have to be superwoman all the time (that's what I tell myself constantly)...So I always try to be lazy and not do anything for at least the weekend or one day on the weekend...Feel better soon. Yay for Jack getting up on his knees on his own - seriously, that boy is going to be an athlete like his parents! Eva has been starting the crawl but is doing more a circular spin thing. She is also rolling like crazy and LOVES her walker - you should consider one for Jack - Eva gets around the house in it now and loves the mobility! She is not quick yet, she does more of a push back and push forward thing than a one foot two foot movement, but she loves getting around to touch things! I am sure Jack would LOVe one!
Alison, I am glad Amelia seems to be coming out of the WW - you got so used to the good life with your perfect little angel :) It is just phases, and you should enjoy them even though they are hard, because I can imagine that puberty will be worse! lololol - Eva has no hair either!!! hahaha! I still shampoo though (I'll get to that in my persie to beany) - PS that girl from your job is annoying - I don't like her either
Beany - For bath, how do you have him in there? I got this cool sort of lounge thing and Eva loves it so she plays on it and now she is big enough for me to flip her onto her belly on it (so her chest rests on the headrest and her belly and legs float behind her) - and she loves it since she has great access to her bath toys etc...We wash Eva in our bathroom since we are the only ones with a bathtub in our bathroom (Our second bathroom is a shower/sink). We have a towel warmer so we turn that on for heat and a folding change table from Ikea (totally awesome!) - So I unfold the table by the towel warmer so she is by the heat then fill the big bath (I have had her in the big bath since around 3 months or so since she was kicking up too much water in the small one and hitting her head constantly)...She has a little bath recliner - I put tons of toys in the water and on the walls of the tub, and she goes in, then I put her towel (from the towel warmer - all warm and toasty) on the change table, get her out and dress her etc....she does not go between rooms undressed for the moment. She is calm in the bathroom so I keep her there for all the stuff she does not like like nose cleaning etc...If I transfer her to her room she would start getting riled up to go to bed or play in her bed and watch her mobile (she LOVES her bed). I always play classical music (baby einstein) during bath time as well. As for washing her hair - I am sure the products I have are diff, but I use a line of super sensitive no fragrance products for baby skin (as well as their face cream, body lotion etc...) - I find that a shampoo foam is easier to deal with since it won't run. I have her laying and put water on her hair then shampoo and rinse - What you should get - is a natural soft baby sponge - I use this to rinse her head. You just wet it then squezze it onto his head and it cleans without having tons of water come out - I use the natural sponge for her body and also to wet her and keep her warm when she is laying in there...try that - I really love it and it is cheap.
Rose, just to share my experience, Eva moved to her room during a very settled period and it went realllly well....so even though it is less fun for you to go back and forth, it might be a good time to do it now. He will also most likely sleep much much better. Do what you feel of course, but in my case, as soon as I saw she was settled I moved her right away and it proved to be a great thing, since she was waking less she was not panicking not to find me there. Just make sure you have the baby monitor on loud so you wake up - good luck and keep me posted on that! I have the feeling that he will sleep much better in his room, not within smelling distance of his mummy's yummy milk ;) Good luck - it is harder for us to not have them in the room than for them to move...like daycare! That is so cute that he watches you guys talk - since you're into books and all, I am sure he just inherits those things from you - I am a chatterbox, and Eva def got that from me!
Suz, go Ryan on the solids...I hope he is more settled since the last time you wrote. What is that net thing you said you use for the food? I would like to get one for eva...but am not sure what it looks like - do you have any pics of him using it? Maybe you can send me a pic if you do? Eva is getting better at the solids. I gae her pears this weekend and cereal and she ate some so she is starting to accept it better. I think she'll just be late on the food thing - she has always been very sensitive as far as food goes - she refuses food when she is stressed etc, so I am not pressuring her, I just let her have fun and watch us eat - I really want her to have a positive association with food.
Tilda, great to see you back online! I am glad the move went well and now you just have that settling in period and everything will be great! Baby Bjorn makes smock bibs, which are like plastic shirts you slide over the head and they protect ok, but honestly, I just keep a few bodysuits and some ugly sweeatpants and I change her or I put her to eat in her diaper. I did not realize how much carrots stain, so I ruined three bodysuits, and kept them for feeding and bought some ugly little pants in dark colors for feeding. Otherwise, I just change her a lot - nothing to do about that!!! Please put up pics! It is true we have not seen any fb activity in a while...
Kawa, congrats on the merchant status! I hope maree settles...
Lani, poor Jett :( I thought you were already ff??? do you bf? Did you not give him formula at the beginning, why the reaction all of a sudden? I have a friend who has issues with the cow's milk and give her baby a formula based on goat's milk - it smells a bit worse, but is better for his allergies and skin...5-7 times a night is rough, I hope you're dealing ok. Try to rest when he does - housework is not that important, although I am glad to see you posted ;)
Willow, Kanda, Sesame, etc...Hello!!!
Quick update on my crappy weekend. DH and I went out on saturday for some shopping etc...DH is an amateur watch collector, so he asked if it would be ok to go into a watch store where he knows the owners very well "just to say hi" - DH is a chatter too so I said no prob but PLEASE do not keep me in there for an hour...we go in and he just talks and talks and talks and I don't mind watches but I do not care about them enough to talk about them for an hour...Eva got hungry so in the middle of this super posh store I had to make her a bottle and feed her, awkward, then she was crying while eating (again her stress comes through during feeds since she was out and around people she does not know)...in any case 45 minutes later I told him nicely, our parking has been up for half an hour now...so he said good bye and we left, but I was annoyed, then he goes to meI should have just stayed home blah blah and I yelled, yes you should have. I woke up a few times the night before since Eva has been feeding at 3 am again...then up at 5 then up at 7 to play etc...so I was tired and snapped. In any case, we sort of did not speak much that evening...the next day it continued, on top of that it was the french mother's day, and he forgot and so I had NO mother's day at all for my first (for the belgian/american one he was away on a motrocycle trip, so I was sure he would make it up to me yesterday). none. I was dissapointed, and ON TOP OF THAT, today is our 2 year wedding anniversary and I was hoping to celebrate it Sunday since today I have work daycare and training so won't really be home until later in the evening and prob be beat (DH did the saturday night shift and let me sleep through, but I did the sunday night shift...up at 4 for feed, up at 5 for dummy, up at 6 then up at 7 for getting dressed, play and daycare...)...so I got pretty upset, I did not yell but explained it to him last night. I know he has a lot of stress with work (like ALOT) - we are in negotiations to merge with a large group, which is huge for us but also very tricky and he is playing chess on a dailly basis to be sure we don't get screwed...It is a lot of money on the table and a lot of stress on his back, I know, so I did not yell but I told him what bothered me. I am not really mad at him since he is super supportive and does his best - he watched Eva a lot all weekend, let me sleep in Saturday and woke up the whole night...he does dishes and made dinner last night, so I know he is doing his best but I just feel so unspecial since we seem to not have time for our couple...I had no mother's day and no 2 year anniversary...whatever, I know it is a lot to do with the baby and all, but I would have been happy to even just eat together and have a glass of champagne to commemorate the date (he didn't even have to go out and buy any - I always keep a few bottles in the fridge - I loves the bubbly ) - I don't even care about gifts or anything...Just to take some time to say happy anniversary, I love you...whatever, It will get better soon. I just hope all goes well with the merge...ok enough negativity...I just had to unload!
Otherwise, Eva is doing great except for waking more at night - her gastro was totally gone by the end of that first week but then two days into week two she got a super blocked up nose! So out with the electric suction machine - she hates it so much but it is SO DAMN EFFECTIVE! I will take a stuffy nose over gastro ANY DAY!
Well, let me get back to my piles of stuff - posting will put me back half an hour :( so this afternoon I'll have to push to get out to pick her up brin gher hom leave her with DH and back to training!
Since getting back on the pill I am now down 7 kilos! in two months! SO I am really happy to have my body getting back on track, even though I feel like I have another 14 or so to go! :)
xoxo to you all! And have a great week!
-
Oh Brussels, what a let down of a weekend. These DH's need to realise that anniversaries, birthdays etc are actually more important than they used to be because we have so little couple time and spend all of our time worrying about other people now and need to feel special and the centre of attention once in awhile. But I'm glad Eva is doing well. It's apparently very common for babies around 6 months to start wanting a night feed again. But I hope it's short lived for you.
Hi Beany - what a rude old cow. Doesn't sound like you'd want to leave him there anyway. I haven't even thought about day care yet because we don't know where we'll be. Two days work sounds like it would be a nice introduction back to work and a good chance to just get out around people.
Hi Lani - what a horror few weeks you've had. I'm sure they'll end soon. Thankfully you can pretty much put everything babies do down to "passing phases". We've had a few nights of it here and there over the last few weeks too but thankfully she throws in good nights too.
Hi Alison - just on the issue of houses from a few posts back, I reckon once you moved in with all your own stuff it would feel like your place. Especially if you renovated it. And the ILs wouldn't be close enough to still treat it like their place. They'll be so in love with their new place anyway that I'm sure they'll move on.
Hi Suz - wow, Ryan is very impressed with solids insn't he LOL. I don't think Matilda has quite realised it's a permanent part of the routine yet and she's a bit hot and cold on the whole thing. One day she can't get enough and the next she's totally disinterested.
Hi Kawazuki, I'm going to have to find you on FB and check out all these cool things you're making!
Hi Rose - how damned cute of Liam to be copying you talking. Looks like he might be a very verbal little guy. And you're a writer aren't you so maybe language is in the genes.
Well, I hear little miss stirring so I'm going to post even though I haven't finished my persies because I dont' trust BellyBelly not to crash before I next get to the computer! But just quickly has anyone noticed their bubs getting constipated with the solids? I'm trying to follow Babylove's advice to just offer pureed pear but not sure its working.
-
Hey everyone, just a quick update! DH totally redeemed himself. After having that talk with him I think he understood that I was a bit let down. I went to get Eva from daycare dropped her off and he watched her while I went out to my traning session - when I came back all tired and sweaty he had her in the babybjorn (after a feed and bath and wearing my favorite pajamas :) ) and had set the table, put candles all over the place, ordered my favorite thai, and had a bottle of champage and glasses waiting on ice :) - I am happy I did not flip my lid and just had a talk with him. He has so much stuff going on with work and it is for our future, so I did not want to yell and make him feel bad about something else...but he did his best to make it up to me - there was no mother's day but our anniversary was at least celebrated on the day of. And we had a great evening in drinking champagne and talking about a lot of stuff and future plans and had a romantic time in general. Eva was perfect and went to sleep without waking until midnight for a feed then slept until 6am...I hope she drops the night feed too, which should happen soon since she has decided that she likes solids all of a sudden...a few days ago she just started opening her mouth and enjoying eating! I don't know what hapenned, but it proves that she does things when she is ready, and only when she is ready - even at daycare they say she has character and that they don't even bother offering her solids if she is in a bad mood...lol - she looks so much like DH, but at least she seems to have some of my personality
Tilda, for constipation, I did not notice anything but she does not eat that much...I do give her one bottle a day with a water that is rich in magnesium and I think that keeps her regular...maybe avoid potaotes, peas and veggies that might be hard for her to digest?
ok off to work!
-
suz - Good work with the challenge. Glad that Ryan's appetite is back.
Lani - I hope Jett gets to the other side of this WW soon. Waking 5-7 times a night would take its toll on you. At least Amelia would be awake all night and then sleep during the day so I wasn't getting up and down and up again. I'm glad he's taking to solids. Perhaps that will help until you see a paed.
Alison - I'm so glad Amelia is back to her usual 'good' self. At least her WW only lasted a week. Mine lasted 3.5 weeks and I still don't think we're all the way through yet. I'm glad Amelia handled her shots well. Just think, a whole 6 months until the next lot.
beany - Gaia is available at chemists and Coles. I'm not sure about Woolies, but I think they may have it too. The products are soap & sulfate free so should be okay on Michael's sensitive skin. They have a little gift pack if you want to sample some of the products first. I'm glad Michael was good when you went to work. Two days sounds enough to ease back into it. And I think you meant "embryos", but "embabies" is cute! I wish DH's cousin all the best.
BS - Well done on keeping calm when letting DH know how you were feeling. It couldn't have been easy, I would've been pretty upset too. I think most men respond better when we're not so emotional. I'm glad he took it seriously and at least celebrated your anniversary. I guess its all part of the new dynamic we're adjusting to...the fact that we're threesomes and not just couples anymore. So relieved Eva is over the gastro, but oh no for the cold. Hopefully she'll get over it quickly without giving it to you. Goodluck with the merge...I'm sure DH's hard work will pay off.
Tilda - You're still bfing, right? If so, have you tried drinking half a glass of orange juice? (I wouldn't give it to Matilda). My mum swears by it for constipated bubs.
AFM - Still ticking along. Amelia just gets more beautiful each day.

Hello all! :asleep:
BS - Wow, sounds like you have a great bath routine. Love the classical music idea. I must get on to that too. He's in his bath usually only about 5 mins...is that about what everyone else is doing? Oooh, whats this loungey thing? Do you know what its called? Ah, shampoo foam, thats an idea. Don't think I've seen it anywhere here tho... Oh gosh, sorry to hear your Mother's Day was a non-event. You did well not to yell at him! But it sounds like DH has made it up well and truly! What a lovely guy :)
Tilda - Michael hasn't really been "on solids" per se yet. He's only had a bit here and there. But, he has been more clogged up than usual (tho I think its unrelated to the solids) - he went 3 days without a poo!! :o Thats the longest ever. And they're a lot thicker than they used to be a couple of weeks ago. Strange.
Hannah - coolies, I'll have a look for some Gaia. I actually went through my hospital bounty bag thing (first time I've looked through it!!) and found some samples. So I'll try them tonight :) DH cousin had to only have one implanted because she's been having problems with her blood pressure. I really hope it works....
Hello everyone else!
AFM - UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo tired!!!! After that night of waking every hour, he slept the night after pretty well, only waking twice. But last night. Gees. He started waking at 10.45pm, every 1-1.5 hours until he properly "woke up" at 5.30am :( He's been flipping onto his tummy a lot too, so most of the time I was going in there to flip him over. Does anyone elses baby do this? Do you just let them stay on their tummy or flip them over (tho he was cranky so I'm thinking he didnt' want to be on his tummy)?
He started saying "da-da-da-da" yesterday I think it was. He doesn't know what it means I dont' think, he's just chatting away. Cool to hear tho!
Ok, better go. Hope everyoe has a lovely day! xx

Hi Beany - Amelia sleeps on her tummy now.........ironic given she used to hate being on her tummy. She used to cry when she first rolled onto her tummy and I spent lots of times flipping her over, eventually I gave up. I just leave her now and she settles straight away. Once they are this age it's not so much of a risk for SIDS because they can turn their heads. She sleeps the best when on her tummy. Amelia is on 2 solids a day and I'm thinking of going to 3 now (adding in dinner). Who's bubs are on 3 already? I'm not sure how to fit it in that's all, my friend who's bub is a month older does a 5.00 pm solids and 6.30 pm milk and straight to bed routine but she's dropped her 3rd nap. Amelia is still having a nap around 4.30 pm/5.00 pm for an hour. Not sure she's ready to drop it yet - tried last week and it backfired on me big time, although we did go through that horrible wonder week last week. She's still fussing a couple of times a night, she's not actually awake but she's crying, I tried ignoring it last night but she got louder and louder. Not sure what to do as I don't want to be getting up to pop in the dummy all the time, aside from it making me super tired it's creating a bad habit - anyone else's bub do this and any suggestions would be great!!
Speaking of which, Missy is awake so best run. xx

Hey girls!
Beany, I think you should just leave him on his belly and see what happens, since if he keeps flipping, he might be comfy that way - try sleeping him on his belly for a nap to see how he sleeps...the lounger thing is from BEABA and it is called Transatdo - I don't think I can put the link up but if you put beaba in google you can visit their site, just click bath and you'll see the products they have. I love it - they have other types of loungers from other brands that have edges to hold baby in place, so they are more secure but I love this one because it is not plastic and it is soft and I can put her on it belly down now, like I was saying...This is like my fave brand, I have everything for feeding from them (except bottles) - they have awesome stuff for solid feeding. It is also easy to clean - I just remove the towel and throw it in the wash and put it back on. Are you still holding Michael in the bath??? Man you must be tired, no wonder you're only giving him 5 minutes  She started moving way too much at around 3 months so I got her the lounger from then. Let me know if you want me to send you some pics - I'd be happy to. I also have these cool sort of foam toys that she loves chewing on while she's in the bath and colorful little ducks, so I leave her in the bath for about 10 minutes or so playing and getting clean - she loves it so much but I avoid leaving her too long since it is not so great for her skin...the water here is pretty hard. Look up baby einstein for the classical music! Or maybe I can zip my music and send it to you? Do you know how to unzip files? I am happy to do that for anyone who would like.
Eva does BABABABABA :) lucky DH, dada will probably come before mama!
Alison, you have a belly sleeper too :) Isn't it nice though to finally have bubs strong enough that we don't have to worry and check on them every five minutes when they are on their bellies! Eva also has issues lately settling - she used to just drop off after her last feed, but now with daycare she is more tired so ends up going to bed around 630 or 7 instead of 8/830 so DH and I have to go in and put the dummy back in constantly...I don't know what to do really...It has been bad lately but when she is very tired and has a late feed she does not do that...I think you should just wait - she'll sort herself out. They just need time - they constantly adjust themselves don't they....we just have to follow like loyal servants  E va has started putting the dummy in herself, so that helps, but sometimes she is tired and can't find it - I am toying with the idea of putting 6 in her bed! Does Amelia only take the dummy for bed? Maybe give it to her in her hand to let her learn to put it in herself? Anyway, that should come soon, so I guess just stick it out and see what happens.
Hannah, why did you edit, for "too much whinging" - you can do that here, you know :) Anyway, when are you going to put up some new pics of Amelia...some of you girls have been depriving us of your gorgeous bubs!!! I hope your darling is doing well. It is wierd how the dynamic of the relationship changes with a child, doesn't it...I think the lack of rest just makes us have no time for the "couple" since as soon as we have time we need to shower, do our hair, sleep etc..etc...etc... - I think that it will get better soon. Eva being in daycare has already given me more relaxed time at home and I have managed to start dressing better, doing my hair, and working out every day. I think as they get older and have more stable routines, we'll have more time for ourselves and our men...Also, at some point we will get more comfortable leaving them with people and that should help...
Anyway, off to work, xoxo to you all :)
Eva went off to daycare today with a huge smile and when I waved goodbye she smiled without crying :) Things are on the up!

Hi girls,
Thanks for all your well wishes. You'll be happy to hear I'm feeling so much better! x
BS - Thank you for your kind words. You don't know how much they mean to me. I do think our lives parallel on a lot of levels. Reading about your time with Mother's Day and Anniversary reminded me that we also both have our own businesses and with that comes a lot of stress and pressure - which my DH always says is the reason for everything!
I’m sorry to hear about your crappy Mother’s Day but it does sound like DH has really redeemed himself by being so romantic! How absolutely lovely for you.
Oh, and I went and got Jack a walker – he loves it! He’s now rocking back and forth on his hands and knees, as if he’s ready to go but is scared to take that first step. Very cute.
Alison - The latest pics of Amelia are just divine. She is the sweetest little thing ever. You are looking fab too, by the way!
Tilda – hello there! So glad that little Matilda is enjoying solids. Maybe you could try giving her a spoon of her own – that’s supposed to distract them while you feed with your own spoon. And we got Jack one of those bibs that’s all plastic that you throw straight in the dishwasher. Otherwise we just strip him to the waist and put him in the bath afterwards.
Hannah – Sounds like little Amelia is about to start crawling any day now. Look out! So exciting.
Rose – We just made the move from the bassinet in our room to his cot – and it’s great! Do you sleep him in there during the day to get him used to the room? That’s what I started doing so it wasn’t a complete shock to the system. Good luck! X
Kawazuki – I hope the wonder week goes okay and the feeding starts up again. X
Beany – Jack doesn’t have much hair but I do put a little bit of the baby wash in it every day. I have one in the shower and one in the bath – the one in the bath is a no-tears one and the shower is some baby organic one that smells pweddy. As for not getting in it his eyes, I just cover his little forehead with my hand and wet it with the other. Does that make sense? You can get those little caps if you’re worried? But I find the no-tears stuff works well.
Suz – So pleased you’re enjoying the Bootcamp! Do you find you’ve got more energy these days because of it?
ATM – I’ll get the good stuff out of the way.
Jack is well – brilliant infact. He’s now onto much more adventurous things to eat, like very mashed up beef bolognaise and apple custard. I read in Save Our Sleep that you should feed them until they turn their head away, but he is yet to turn his little head, so I have to be the one to decide when he’s had enough! We weighed him about a month ago and he was 9.5kg (did I already tell you that?), so he’s doing well. He’s also still a major booby man and now digs into my top and whinges when he wants a feed. He also thinks it’s entirely appropriate to pop off my nipple and start talking to me mid-feed when we’re out in public – not a good look!
Now for the not-so-good stuff. Basically, it’s all to do with DH and I. BS, after reading your post about how DH went and did all that romantic stuff I almost cried – I’m obviously happy for you though! It just reinforces the fact that DH has never made me feel special. He would NEVER do that for me. And these days I have started to think things like, why didn’t I notice this before we got married? I have to say that most of the time I’m unhappy these days. Our sex life is miserable and we hardly ever touch. Seriously, if I didn’t ask for a hug or ask for sex, we would never touch. Not even a hug in bed at night.
I feel lonely a lot of the time. I’ve brought this up on so many occasions with him and he always turns defensive and yells “So, you want to separate then? Would that make you happy?!”
At first I would always think, no, I don’t want to separate. That’s crazy. We can work this out. But these days I’m starting to feel different. I can’t believe I’m even saying this, but I’ve started contemplating leaving him. There it is. I’ve said it. That’s such a big thing for me. I haven’t told a soul and I don’t plan to.
There are obviously lots of reasons why I’ve started thinking this way, not just the few reasons I mentioned above. It’s very complex and I certainly haven’t got all of it around my head yet. But I’m yearning to talk to someone about my constant frustrations. I ache to be touched and wanted and desired. I yearn to be treated in a way where I feel special.
Anyway, that’s all very deep and depressing, so I apologise for putting that on you all. I have to book myself in to speak to a professional, me thinks.
xx

Carmey, have you considered seeing a couple's therapist? I am crying reading this :( I am glad you have the courage to say it out loud (or write it - you know what I mean)
Sometimes we just go on in our lives ignoring things and they just get so bad, so it is great that you are dealing with it...
What happenned to DH after the birth? Is he having issues sharing your body? Or not having you to himself? You know how he was before, what has become more prominent since Jack arrived - this kind of stuff has always been there, so think about it and see where the issue is...is he not dealing well with the pressure of fatherhood? Is seeing you as a mother making him not look at you sexually? When you talk to him is it calm? Maybe try a talk when things are calm because he might have some stuff going on too and he is not sharing...It does not excuse his behavior AT ALL. He is a father and a husband and he needs to step up. Period.
As far as taking a decision to leave, be careful to do so when you are not so emotional. If, on the other hand, DH has 'defects' in his personality that existed before, and that are just getting more prominent now, they probably won't change and will keep coming back and going and coming and going....you can't change the root of a person...so you have to question whether the base is bad, or if he is just not dealing well with the changes in his life? I think therapy would be great for you and you should encourage him to go as well or go to couple's together...I think he is becoming defensive and not communicating because he knows he is wrong, and if you get him to agree to go see a therapist for that purpose (to communicate) he will have to keep his cool. He should maybe see one too since he obviously has something bothering him.
You are absolutely divine, and I am not just saying that to make you feel better. You glow and work and take care of yourself and smile and although I don't know you in person, you seem like an awesome girl! I would want you to be my friend if we lived in the same city ;) If DH does not treat you like you deserve, then leave, and there is no reason to stay miserable just because you have Jack...Miserable parents make miserable babies, so do what is necessary for your mental health and for your baby - Unfortunately our babies take precedence over our husbands now, and some men can't deal with that....I love DH but I would not hesitate if I had to choose between him and my baby, although I hope that NEVER happens...just be sure to try to find the root of the problem and not base your decisions on superficial actions...
I am dissapointed for you and disappointed in your DH - he does not understand how hard having a baby is, and is obviously still hung up on his own feelings, and his own needs. Since Jack has been born you have been doing everything to be perfect, to get back into shape, to be a great mother etc...If he cannot appreciate that, it is really his loss...
If he cannot deal with fatherhood then he needs to be out. The pressure that comes along with being parents is part of growing up, so if he is not capable, move on, or take a temporary separation to figure things out - maybe go stay with family somewhere quiet where you can still work but be more calm and think things over - Unfortunately, sometimes that is the only way to give men a wake up call...I do hope he gets over this...I really hope the base is not broken, if you know what I mean...
You deserve to be loved and touched and spoiled, and with baby that will happen less, but still, it should happen! You have every right to feel that way. You need to figure out if DH is just having issues because he is sharing your body with Jack, some men have issues with that stuff...it might get better once Jack is weaned...or it might just be something that has changed in your relationship, but figure that out before making rash decisions.
Feel free to write me whenever you want if you feel like you want to chat via email or whatever. I tend to see things very rationally and unemotionally, and sometimes that can be helpful when you are in very irrational and emotional situation. Or sometimes it can just be very annoying, and sometimes you need to hear F*** DH!!!!, so I am saying that too! F*** him for making this harder, and for not helping and for not appreciating you and what you two have been through as a couple in the past year! F*** his selfishness and F*** him for complicating what should be a beautiful period in your lives! and just plain old F***!!!!!!!
There, that was my emotional response (slightly less coherent than the rest!)
I am sending many hugs your way and hope this is just a rough patch. I'm here if you need, so please don't hesitate.

Anyway, please don't feel alone and like BS said if you want to talk you know you can send us an FB message or PM on here. We're here for you 100% and if I can help even just to make you feel sane please don't hesitate to do so. I'm even happy to have a chat on the phone. Please don't feel you can't talk to anyone because you can talk to us. Love you lots beautiful girl and hope things get better for you really soon.
And BS, you're such a gorgeous person, I wish you lived here in Aus - I think we'd all be the best of friends us girls, without a doubt. xx
Hi to everyone else, hope you're all well and happy. xx
-
BS - Thank you, thank you, thank you. Tears are rolling down my face right now. I'm so very touched that you care so much and give such heartfelt advice.
A friend of mine sees a great counsellor, so I'll book an appointment to speak to her. I want to go to her alone first, to talk out my feelings. Then I want DH there.
To be honest I don't think that he has an issue with sharing my body with Jack. I'm so ashamed to say this but his sex drive began to nosedive just before our wedding. He always put it down to training too much (training 23 hours a week for Ironman) and then stress from work. So, I let it go because we found out we were pregnant right before our honeymoon and that was my new focus.
One of my biggest issues is the lack of affection, not so much the sex. Even though I would love more sex I can live without it - it's the no touching that gets to me. I'm such a loving, affectionate person and to not get it is really hard. I have actually given up cuddling him or asking for hugs or kisses because I feel rejected and angry. So that's not a good thing.
The last thing I want is to be alone. Raising my child as a single mother scares the hell out of me and I can hardly think about it without feeling sick in my stomach. But every time I think - Do I want to live like this for the rest of my life? - I think no. I can't. I know I deserve better. I just hope that this lady I talk to can help me find a solution.
Sorry girls, I promise to not talk about this again. I realise there is another forum for this and this is such a depressing issue. I want this forum to be fun!
xx
