Last night wasn't too bad with E. She went down with a few tears, but I accidentally woke her at about 9pm, and she was SO upset, and cried for about and hour. Cuddling didn't even seem to help. After that, she slept till 6:30 this morning so that was OK. J on the other hand, has had too many late nights, and now we are struggling to get him to bed before 8pm, and he is sleeping till 9am. (He is usually up between 6:30 and 7) *sigh*
Shell - I ignore E too. I can usually manage to ignore her till about 7am ish, she just chats to herself.
Olive - How did it go last night?
Ali - Hope DP gets better soon.
Nai - How have your kids been sleeping the past few days?
My sister has been put on anti D's as she is struggling with anxiety. She is currently in a MBU. I visited her today. She is very tired, but feeling well supported. I think that there is a fine line between depression and sleep deprivation, and honestly, I think hers is more sleep deprivation. she is exhausted. The bub is basically up all day, then up every 3 hours overnight I have said that I will take bub overnight so that she can have a rest, but the bub won't take the bottle, and her hubby thinks it would be strange for me to feed her. I think it would be sort of weird, but would do it if it meant she would get a rest. what does everyone else think?

:hello:
Im trying to catch up....bear with me :hide:
-
Ali - hun I hope your DP is feeling better soon. Sounds horrible. I'm glad your pre-Christmas Christmas went well though and :leap: on the family photo!! They are hard work!
Nai - hun I hope you get more sleep before the big drive!!
OP - Be thinking of you tomorrow hun. I'm sure all will be fine
Lilima - I'm sorry your sister is having a rough time but glad she's getting the support she needs. I completely agree with you about the sleep/depression link. A lot of the symptoms or side effects are common to both. In regards to the feeding, I wouldn't hesitate to feed my sisters baby (if she had one) and I wouldn't think it was weird at all but I would be guided by her and her partner's thoughts on it (as I'm sure you will be). The only other thought I've got is to wonder if that might muck around with your sisters supply at all? From memory that bub is only a week or two old? As long as her supply is established and she expresses before bed or something there shouldn't be too much of a problem for one night. It must be hard to see her like this. I hope things improve for her soon. Take care.
Hi to everyone else!!!
AFU - Had a good start to the night last night, DS stayed asleep until after midnight but then kept waking and fed three times in three hours :o Then he slept til after 7am. So random. Not sure what the problem was, doubt it was teeth though. He's really started rolling round and moving on the floor the last week or so. I'm starting to realise how much stuff he can get to that he shouldn't have now!!
-
kaz - My sis's bub is 4 months old, so Bf is well established.
I will give her a call in a minute to see how she is today.
Nai - I was wondering if you could give me some tips about what I should be doing with Emilia in the pool for water awareness? It has been so long since I had J in the the pool at that age, that I have forgotten what i should be doing with her. she will start lessons at the start of next year.
-
Meg- how long do you think she'll be in there for. I agree about the fine line. After all sleep deprivation is a form of torture. With the feeding have a chat with her and her husband, as long as you're all comfortable with it.
Kaz- as the start doing more and more you realise how much more you need to move. I remember we used to put things up on the bench then she started reaching and we'd have to move them further and further, lol.
RR- Hi! Lots to catch up on in here, tho prolly half of its been on FB, lol.
OP- Good luck with your scan tomor, I can understand why you'd be feeling stressed, I'm sure all will be fine, you'd be pretty unlucky to get a worrying report again.
Ali- how are you all doing? When do you leave for gold coast? You'd want to be feeling pretty good for the drive. Hope you're all well.
Nai- you going for a holiday there? Do you have family there or something? I so hate long drives. No way could I do it!
-
Lilima - Sorry - it must have been someone else from this group that became an aunty again more recently than you. I still haven't recovered my baby brain! I hope she's doing better today.
-
Hi Everyone! Sorry I've been a bit MIA with sleep deprivation and trying to get packed to go away... Shel, we have relatives in Adelaide so we go over every 2nd year for Christmas. Anyway our news is that Juliette is finally on the move - not quite crawling but forwardly mobile nonetheless. I have put a video up on FB :D
Meg - how is your sister? Have you decided on the feeding thing? I would feel weird but I would do it if needed. The only thing is that your milk is for a 10m old and her baby is younger so it might be different nutritionally for her needs - although people tandem feed without that being an issue :dunno:
With the water awareness I would start with a cup of water in the bath and do the "ready, 1, 2, 3" and tip the water over her head and face quickly. She will learn to hold her breath on the 3 and it will prepare her for submersion in the water. The other thing is to have her in a big bath where you can hold her in a float so she gets the feeling of weightlessness - or take her to the pool and do it. Also get her splashing so she gets used to being splashed in the face etc.
OP - good luck with the scan! Let us know how you go.
-
Hi all! I feel like it's been ages since I last posted! Sounds like we're all having sleep issues! Lets see how much I can recall...
OP, good luck for the scan today :)
Ali, how is DP? Have a great time away!
Pinny...I know this was a while ago, but woohoo on L's sleeping through! Can he teach my L please!???
Megie, how is your sister doing? Is E's croup better? And J's behaviour? I think it's really lovely of you to offer to feed your neice. Is it just your bil that has an issue? I know my dp would be weird about it too if someone else fed L. I guess they may think it's too much of an intimate thing? :dunno:
Nai, woohoo on the moving! Go J!! Have a great time in Adelaide, hope you can rest up before the long drive. Sorry if you already mentioned...but will you be trying to do it all in one drive, or you stopping somewhere to sleep on the way?
Kaz, yay on J moving :D Time to baby proof!
Shell...have you been engaged for some time...or have I missed something big?? I just saw DF in your sig before but I always thought it said DP!!?
Olive, how is M going with her sleeps? I have to do the sneaking out of the room too!
Det, wow at L cutting a molar! Hope xmas isn't too hectic.
Eek, can't remember much else off the top of my head...hi to everyone I missed!
AFU...umm L is pretty much same old. Nappy changes and bath times are like a huge battle though and I don't know why :( He just screams like something is wrong... when I bath him he won't sit down he stands...and screams. I have to hold him up while dp washes him down with a face washer. It's ridiculous! He just stiffens up and won't sit. Nappy changes the same deal...I lay him down and he automatically starts screaming and kicking or rolling. I don't understand!! He use to love both of these things!
What else...he's pretty much eating what I'm eating now, just cut up smaller, so that is one thing that makes life easier...I don't have to prepare separate meals! His 6th tooth is almost through, he has 2 bottom and 4 top.
Oh and some exciting news...my mum (who we live with) is getting renos done and has just signed a contract to get a pool built :D I told her we will never be moving out! It will hopefully be done by end up feb so L might have a pool party for his first birthday! Sooo excited!
Anyway, that's all from us. L has been asleep next to me that whole time I was reading catching up on posts and while I was typing this. Any bet he wakes up now! We are off to Chaddy when dp gets home from work to finish off the xmas shopping. Then going to his dad's to see his elderly grandparents (L's great grand parents) that are down from the country for christmas. If I don't get back here sooner, have a great christmas everyone and happy first christmas to all our bubbas! xox
-
A selfish post- just need to get it out!!
I have had the worst 48 hours with L's sleep! He just won't settle, last night did not go to sleep till 1pm!!!! Just shocking, a velcro baby too , doesn't want to be put down. Cries when I put him down and is just not himself. Not sure what is going on!!! I'm tired and just don't have the energy to do stuff!! The thought of cooking dinner seems just too hard, might have to get Dh to do it. Feel bad though coz he has been at work all day..
I think the 8 hours sleep in a row were a once off here!!!
Sorry for the winge just feeling so crappy atm!!!
-
Oh Pinny, you poor thing! You must be going slowly insane. Really hope things improve for you!
Holly - have fun with Chaddy, if that is possible at this time of year! Good effort on your post, I was impressed :D We're trying to feed Isabel the same stuff as us too... but sometimes we eat later and I'm stuck for what to do for her! Get more organised I guess!!
Oh by the way we are having massive nappy change issues too. We have to distract her with a special toys that she's not normally allowed... like keys, or a tin of mints that is all sealed up so she can't open it but it makes a good noise. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I feel your pain.
Nai - the end is near, two mobile girls now!!! :D Yay though!
Meg, how's your sis? I hadn't thought about feeding another bub TBH! I know it is common all around the world and I think the Mercy were looking to or might already have set up a breast milk bank. I think it is a lovely thing to offer... just remind your BIL that we all drink random cows' BM!!Let us know what you decide.
Kaz - how's J's sleeping going?? I agree, it does seem very random with their patterns. I'm so glad there are other bubs in here doing the same as Isabel - ie, doing whatever they want and not having a pattern!
RR - Hi!! Nice to see you :D
Hi to everyone else!
AFM: Our scan went really really well. Same sonographer as last time and basically as soon as he put the thing on my belly and found bubs he said it looked much better than last time. He couldn't get an actual nuchal fold measurement but he could see it was small so we were immediately relieved!
Bubs was doing a headstand for some reason so he had to do an internal to get a good picture and do the measurement. I was like :o "never had an internal!" So that was an experience! But he got beautiful measurements - measured around 2mm which was less than a third of what it was with DD. I was worried that was still high but he said it was good - and I've just phoned through to find out our risk rating which is 1:4650!
So all good - apart from the internal thing, ick!
He also said he had a good idea of the gender... but he said it is only 80% accurate... he doesn't like to tell people because people don't like it if it is wrong... so he may or may not have told us... ;)
-
OP- Yay on the scan!!! I got told with DD at the early scan too and they were wrong, out of the 4 ppl I know who have been told at 12/13 weeks the gender of their babies 3 out of 4 were wrong, so just keep that in mind if he did or did not tell you;)
Holly- Have fun at chaddy, hope you get it all done!
ANd I just had a bath with L and can see another two teeth almost ready to pop through, he only just got the top ones so I wasn't really looking for anymore but looks like he will have two more very soon, may explain the past few days though!!
-
Pinny - that sounds like a nightmare couple of days you've had. Hopefully it won't be long before he's back to himself though if the teeth were causing it.
OP - Yay on the scan but bluurrgh on the internal!! Great news.
Holly - no idea on the bath thing with L. Sorry. Not heard of that before - hopefully its just a phase though. Resisting nappy changes is common at this age so maybe he's just really getting into it during baths too? Have fun shopping!
-
Pinny- how did last night go? I hope its just the teeth and then things settle.
OP- Ooh are you going to share? We got told with Ash at 12 week scan that she was a girl, he said he thought 90% accurate and he was right. Glad the odds came back great, must be such load off your mind now.
Holly- not sure on that, maybe try showering with him? See if he is better with that. My nephew was the same for ages he would scream and my sister had to resort to giving him sponge downs instead. Maybe his penis is sensitive or something? I don't know much bout boy bits.
I feel 2 big bumps on Ems lower gums so maybe finally we will see a tooth.
-
Well girls we are off very soon to Qld.
All of you have a great Christmas with the bubbas and other chidren and family of course. Will be tinking of you all.
May be in touch on FB as I can access that from my phone but I think BB could be too expensive as ithas too much download to access from my phone.
Merry Christmas everyone. Thank you for all your support and friendship this year :grouphug:
-
Ali - Have a great trip.
OP - Glad the scan went well. A good relief for CHristmas! Was DD's measurements high last time? I'm betting on a boy this time.
Holly - Hmm Don't know about the standing thing. Maybe just shower him for a while and give the bath a break?
my sis is really nit doing very well at all. She is having severe panic attacks, and is not sleeping. She looks like a zombie. The bub os doing ok though. So it looks like it may be an non issue as she is going to have to stay in the MBU for a fair while yet. She is coming home for Christmas and her DH is staying there Christmas night, but she is really not well.
Pinny -Looks like teeth are the issue.
Shell - So Em looks like having a few chompers soon.
E was up for over 2 hours last night. She keeps standing up. GO in and put her down, and then she is up again howling! She seems to do this about twice a week. I try and put her in with me, and she mucks around, laughing and touching me, so I put her back in her own bed, only for her to howl. In the end I just have to shut the door and leave her. (sorry if I offend anyone who doesn't believe in letting a baby CIO, but honetly there is nothing else I can do for her. She's clean, she's not sick, not in pain, not hungry, she just wants to play with me.)
-
Lilima - Sounds frustrating that E does that. J doesn't know how to pull himself up yet but I think we'll have the same shenanigans here when he works it out. I'm also really sorry that your sister is not travelling so well. It must be hard to watch her so unwell, espeically at this time of year. I hope she is able to get the treatment she needs in the MBU and that she makes a full and speedy recovery.
Ali - Have a good trip darl! Drive safely (I know you will).
Shell - ooh teeth in time for Christmas??? J doesn't have any either and people are amazed that he can chew without them - no idea why they find that fascinating! I hope they come through with a minimum of fuss.
AFM - Going to wish you and your families all a very merry Christmas now. Got family descending tomorrow and heaps to do this afternoon when J wakes up so I'm not sure if I'll be back in here for a few days. I really REALLY hope you all have a magical first Christmas morning with your bubs and a very special day. Drive safely on the roads too girls. xx
