kaz we got a necklace too!!
It is such a nice feeling isn't it! It'll be sad when they get older and want their independence and don't need mummy anymore lol. (Good in other ways though I'm sure!)
Olive, woohoo on the tooth and the sleep last night! Wow talk about a hot night! (maybe the heat knocked M out?) They reckon it was the hottest night on record - was still 35C degrees at midnight, 33C at 3am! I almost forgot it was bin night and got up to take them out around midnight and couldn't believe the warmth as I walked outside. It was lovely though as there was no sun.
Nai, yay on tooth # 8! How was the movie?
Pinny, yeah I think I will copy what I wrote :) I wish my L would have some of your L's appetite.
He's really hit and miss with food these days. Tonight for dinner we had veggie pasta, he reluctantly ate 3 spirals and then refused anymore. He usually loves pasta! He also hates the spoon. It's as if he doesn't trust what is on it and just flatly refuses and turns his head away. Sometimes he wants to feed himself. Problem is, he can never grip the food nicely and most of it ends up on the floor. It is a massive waste of food and he hardly consumes anthing, so he can't even be full! I know that's how they learn and all that, but where do you draw the line?
Ali, the last year has definitely been a huge learning curve and challenge! Being a mum certainly is the hardest experience I've ever had, but I love it :D Good job on managing the 2 yesterday. I'm amazed you were able to coordinate the feeding and bathing so well! (Not saying I didn't think you could do it, just that it would be hard for anyone!) How annoying about medicare. Lol at the dollarmites account - L has one too (and I had one!). Set up an automatic payment and leave it be and DD will get bonus interest! Re birthday plans, like I said in your thread, we will just be having a casual BBQ and pool party at home (hope it's good weather). I'm wondering what kind of cake to get!
Shell, birth is truely a miracle! I just love the anticipation of L's personality and development. It's amazing what we've created :) Hehe I never thought I'd be this into motherhood.
Kaz, I hope the necklace works well for him. I also hope you get some decent sleep tonight.
lilima, no rain here yet! Waiting for it. I took the washing down hours ago thinking it would be raining by now...
AFU, welcoming the cool change and the forecast for the rest of the week :)
Just want to gather some advice...it's my 21st at the end of this month and I really don't feel up to doing anything "big". Is that so wrong?? I don't get the big deal, but everyone is really irritating me about it and telling me that I have to plan something  Sighhh  Isn't it really an American thing? 21 being the age of new priveliges and all that...can't I just have a nice dinner out somewhere and that's it?
Great, L is awake gtg!
I was in hospital for my 21st, so whatever you do will beat mine :)
OMG 21st birthdays
i am starting to plan my 40th which is in a couple of years
i feel soo old
creepy back in to my corner now ....
Det and I feel so young, naive and like I have no life experience!
lilima, in hospital? Poor you!
Kaz - I've got an amber necklace.. I wear it instead of alex, and he loves to hang onto it.. still waiting for his next round of teeth, which are appearing to come out to see if it makes a difference.
Sorry I've been slack and have read your posts but forgotton them, so it's a bit random.
Nai - go J with the whole nectarine!
Everyone - the sleeping issues must be a phase, because Alex is just mr restless at night. I'm in his room, a mattress on the floor so DH can get some sleep.
Det - ur still a spring chicken.. I'll be 40 in a few months.
Holly - 33 way too hot.. enjoy your 21st! I had a BBQ for mine, do whatever you want to do and then you'll be happy
My news - I'm going to be a great aunty again (was a great aunty when i was 16), the baby is due in June.
Det, I'm with you - starting the plan the big 4-0. Holly, for my 21st (all those years ago) I just had all of my friends to a Thai restaurant and we had a big sit down banquet with drinks before. It was pretty low-key but everyone had a great time and I was able to talk to everyone as I kept it just to my closest friends.
With food, I do a combination of finger food and spoon food as Miss J doesn't get enough in by herself and gets cranky if she is too hungry but then also gets cranky if she isn't doing things herself. So for breakfast she has vegemite toast while I make her weetbix and then when she has had the toast I spoon feed her weetbix until she is full. Then she will help herself to the fruit bowl
The movie was great although the first cinema we went to lost power half way through the movie, G was devastated as we had to leave and get a refund. So I found another cinema, got the train home, got in the car and drove to the new one. We finally got to see it and G loved it.
Olive - sounds like a tooth!
Malyna - yay on being an aunty again!
I forgot who asked about night weaning (sorry) but I don't feed Miss J now from her night feed at about 7pm until she wakes in the morning - at the moment I am using 5.45 as the cutoff but I really want to stretch this out to 6am. However when I go back to work I will need to be up early so it's probably not a huge issue.
At work so keeping this brief. Has anyone else got a climber? J never did anything like that. E climbed on to a toddler chair that was next to the toy box. I came back in to find her sitting on the toy box, about to launch off on to the floorboards! J never did anything like that, but with her you have to watch her all the time.
Ok better get back to work.
BBL
Thanks girls who replied bout night weaning, I'm thinking eventually I will have to cut out night feeds cause it is tiring if she wakes at 4 for bottle and then I'm up at 6 to work but atm so much easier just to go make a bottle rather than argue.
Meg- they are such risk takers, Emily has started trying to climb the stairs so now have to remember to keep the gate shut.
Malyna- wow great aunt when you were 16! Its funny cause great aunt I think of some oldie like 80!
Holly- just do what you want to do, I went to draculas for mine. But since having kids I haven't been that big on my birthdays, even when I had my 30th and everyone was like gotta have a party, nup just had family and a BBQ (was having midlife crisis too so wasn't into 30th! Lol)
OP- you made me laugh with 60 days of work! Already counting down!
We are getting tooth #2 so not happy. Plus combination of clinginess after I've been at work!
Does anyone else who goes off to work have the prob with clinginess? Seriously as soon as I step in the door she starts crying for me and won't let me put her down. I mean she is clingy anyway but me being out all day just makes it soooo much worse!
Can't remember the last time I ate dinner without her on my lap.
oi holly trying to confuse us more!!!
arrhh to be 21 again, that when DH made the move on me! and he was my boss :o  was naughty!
malyna great aunt at 16 :o
nai was the movie scary?? glad you got to see it inthe end!!
meg DD 1 climbed i assume DD2 will be the same!!
AFM the past few weeks of little sleep is really catching up with me,im so tired (yet on on BB  DD2 woke once last night
Olive - me too :(
Rough night again here last night - he wouldn't go down until about 10pm AT ALL then did his usual after being awake so long and woke 40mins later. Then at 1:30am, then at 3am (that wake up took over 45 mins to resettle and only went back down with panadol somewhere close to 4am) then up at 5am and not interested in anything but getting up. So now he's asleep and I'm wide awake with no hope of going back :wall:
Hurry up Australia Post!!!!!!!!!
This is really horrible and I feel guilty but this morning I actually said to DP that I couldn't wait for him to move out of home  :hide:
Don't know how much more of this broken sleep stuff I can do.
kaz hun  it takes such a toll doesnt it, i really hope you can get some rest when he sleeps later on, forget housework or any jobs you need to do, rest up and take it easy today
arrhhhh whats with 35 minute sleeps
M had two yesterday and already today has had a short one :wall:
good night last night..... she slept 6.30pm-6.15am  i actually got some sleep, pity DD1 woke at 5.10am looking for puppies
Holly- Love the new name!! Aww that is so gorgeous what you wrote about L!!!! I know how you feel. I'm feeling sad at the moment that DD is growing up so quick, I love her so much!
lilima- How are you doing?
Kaz- oh  get some rest today. Yeah we got the amber necklace and it does help! If I haven't had it on her during the day the nights are always worse.
OP- loving the new av with bump!! I made myself a new one, waiting for it to be uploaded.
Jols- omg yay on the sleep!! So the Dr Jay Gorden thing works???? I'm going to try it soon!
Nai- omg 8 teeth already!
Pinny- DD is super hungry too!! Eating and feeding non stop!!
Ali- those photos on FB of you looking after both kids are soooooooo cute!! Going to check out smile box thanks!
Well some of you probably saw on FB DD took her first steps!! I can't believe it! She'll be walking soon :( She's getting so clever. She now holds the phone up to her ear, pmsl, and points the remote at the TV. If you say 'where's mummy's nose/ear?' she will point to them. They're the only 2 she knows so far.
DH and I have been talking about TTC no 2. We want them about 2 yrs apart. On one hand it's exciting thinking about having another baby but on the other hand I feel so sad about not having all my time for DD :( I hope I will still have enough time for her, I just remember how much time a newborn took up!!
Sorry Jols - had to laugh at the puppies but yay on the sleep!
Heaven - eeek on the walking! She sounds so clever too. I second the Jay Gordon - we have had probaby 7 sleep throughs in the last 2 weeks and last night was 8pm-6am with 1 wake up at 2.30. I rocked her back to sleep and was back in bed by 2.40.
Holly - love the new name!
Kaz - I hope you get some rest today  I fell asleep face down on the couch last night at 8.30 but that's because I went to the movies the night before so it's my own fault.
opps nai i should say puppies is her pound puppies name!! he fell throught he bed head and she couldnt find him! though currently he's known as dumbo as she watches dumbo everyday and puppies has long ears!!
yay on the 7 sleep throughs!!
Thanks girls. I know I should take it easy but I did that yesterday and felt really tired for it. I'm out all day tomorrow (at my first meet up ever - eek - scary and exciting!!!) so I have to get stuff done today. I'm ok until I stop and then I just about fall asleep. (Nearly did while waiting for the diesel pump at the servo this morning  ). Besides, DP has had a similar amount of sleep to me and he has to go to work so I figure the least I can do is get stuff done around here. Plus we have a mate calling by (probably) tonight and staying (maybe).
At the moment I am doing these ones :leap: :leap: :leap: because Australia Post came through while I was doing the groceries and DS is currently wearing his very funky new necklace!! Whoot!!
Heaven - glad to hear from another who finds the necklaces help. Your DD is so clever! TTC #2 is very exciting!! You'll have time, not as much but she'll be older and won't need quite as much perhaps??? Plus you'll have a whole nother person to love and watch grow!
Nai - I'm definitely giving that Jay Gordon a go soon. We're going away in February - do you think I should start before then or wait til we get back? We're just going to two places for about a week.
Ali - Hun I don't know if you'll be in here or not before tomorrow but if I have another night like last night I probably won't come to the meet :( I would feel too unsafe on the roads for that distance there and back. DS sleeps better tonight. The weather is cooler here so it is likely.
Yep, new name. Feeling a bit too vulnerable using my real name and don't want anyone IRL to find me! I love the name Kailani, might use it if we have a girl!
Heaven, DD sure is a clever little girl! Good luck TTC #2. Most of the mums in my MG are TTC #2 this year as well. I know I'm going to be sooo clucky and jealous when I see their bumps! We won't be trying until L turns 3, which also coincides with my last year of undergrad :D Can't wait!
Kaz, how awful is the sleep deprivation! Hope you guys get some good sleep tonight and make the meet tomorrow.
Olive, fantastic news on the sleep!! Send some my way please! Lol at DH being your former boss ooohh!! ;)
Nai, sounds like another decent sleep for you guys too. How annoying about changing movie theatres! Thanks for the food tips. I tried doing the combo of spoon/finger food this morning and he still wasn't interested in his oats. Had a few slices of nectarine and then was adament he wanted no more. He will almost always have toast but I can't always be giving him that surely?
Shell, it must be do draining getting up to make a bottle at that hour. Almost like you're sleepwalking I'm sure! Good luck on the weaning. Having kids has definitely changed birthdays, and my social life in general. Just can't be bothered going out, having drinks and all that. I still haven't had a sip of alcohol since before I was pregnant.
Malyna, congrats on being a great auntie! My aunties are obviously great aunties now thanks to L, but they are in their 40's which still seems young to be a "great" anything!
AFM, I'm booking a Hungarian restaurant/bar for my birthday. Have just invited a handful of my close friends and my family (and of course L!). There will be about 20-25 of us. That'll do! We had MG today which was good to get out of the house. L is so intrigued with the other babies' hair (coz he is a baldy!) I kept having to snatch his hands away as he wanted to pull lol.
Anyway, gtg L is calling out for bbs and a sleep! Back later xox
