Hi all, I'm still having vertigo issues, its terrible when it comes on, lasts all day for days. Saw the ENT yesterday and him poking and prodding my ears seemed to set it off again. had hearing test which was pretty much fine so now booked in for an MRI in 3 weeks, considering I'm clautrophobic that'll be fun. I've had so much sick leave from work I feel guilty and worst is I'm not fun mum anymore I'm mum whos always sick so can't play like I used to. Gets me down.
Meg- How is E doing now? I hope shes on the fast recovery track now after all this, poor poppet and poor you too going thru it with her.
Nai- How are the sickies? Hope no more vomiting there.
Olive- glad to hear the lumps are nothing bad, guess just her immune system compensating for all thats been going on.
Malyna- Contract all signed with the house? How exciting. When will be settlement date?
OP- We've not bothered with TT yet. I'm slack lol I can't be bothered dealing with it til I know its going to work, I waited til DD1 was 2.5 then it only took me 2 days and she was done.
Hi to everyone else, replies don't go back any further so can't see everyone!
-
Hi guys!! Just popping in, haven't posted for ages!!
Hope everyone's going well!!
Lots of talk of tantrums I see. DD is the same but not too bad yet. She throws herself on the floor and arches her back when she doesn't get her way, LOL. If I know she's just being cranky and is not really upset I just step away from her until she's over it and then when she's calmed down she can have a cuddle. Not sure what else to do but it usually doesn't take her too long to get over it if she's not getting any attention.
I can actually now post and say sleep is great!! For the past month or so she goes to bed and sleeps for about 8 hrs then wakes in the early morning, has a feed and goes back to sleep in our bed for a couple more hours. I never thought this day would come!! lol.
As for TT, we have a potty but haven't done much about it yet. Her fav word at the moment seems to be 'poo' though, LOL. She tells me she has done one or when she farts she says 'pooooooooo' and holds her nose, LOL.
Morning sickness is finally over, thank God so I'm feeling much better.
Hi to everyone!! :hello:
-
Hey Heaven - yay for great sleep and no morning sickness!!
Happy 18months to everyone!
Lilima - that sounds truly horrible hun. I hope Miss E is feeling much better and you've had a chance to catch up on sleep.
 to all those with sick bubs. It sucks.
Shell - I hate confined spaces too. you'll have to go to your happy place during the MRI. I hope they can work out what is going on and sort it for you soon xx
OP - Just tried to msg you back but your inbox is full!! I got to the post office this afternoon so it should be there early next week.
AFU - Well I think I found the sleep school environment more traumatic than DS! We didn't leave him to cry and did LOTS of resettling. Don't know why it was different to home but we seem to have made some progress YAY!! Was great to get back home. The food and coffee were absolutely apalling lol!

Happy 18 months!!
Kaz Glad to hear that sleep clinic helped.
Shell no contracts signed yet. settlement will be in 90 days. Still trying to decide if to sell our house or rent it out.
Sorry for not getting any more detailed. Feeling a lot shakey at the moment.
I took Alex down to the river, on the walk home from the gym. He was running around, and I was shadowing him (about 1metre away) when he stopped at the edge of the river bank. Took one step forward and fell into the river.
There is no bank, it was just straight into the river, so I ended up wiht one leg in the river and pulled Alex out by his leg. He was only under the water for about 3 seconds, but it felt like an eternity.
I got him out, undressed him (because he was shaking), took off my hoodie and dried him down with that, took off his nappy (which was a poo and of course I forgot my nappy bag) and I buttoned him up in the pram snug and litterlly ran home (only about 1km) with a naked baby in the pram. I would have given him my tee but it got wet when I gave him a hug to calm him down.
He was crying from the shock, then saw a duck and started babbling. Got him home, rang DH, rang the doctor, left a trail of wet clothes throughout the house.
He's asleep now but I'm starting to shake. DH has just got home.
Alex is fine.
-
OMG Malyna!! That is so scary - no wonder you are shaking! I would be too. Thank goodness you reacted so quickly and he is all ok.
-
OMG Malyna!! That would have been so scary!! Glad your DH is home now.
Kaz- how are things with the sleep since you've been home?
-
Oh Malyna, my goodness!!!! Huge hugs - that must have been so terrifying.
Really hope both he and you are ok. Lots of cuddles tomorrow I think...
-
Thanks girls. DH came home for lunch - alex fell asleep in the high chair, and ended up waking long enough to have a hug with his daddy before DH had to go back to work.
I'm really glad I didn't panic. I think what freaked Alex out the most was his mum grabbing him by his leg and lifting him onto the bank, and then the choking he did afterwards, spitting up the water he swallowed.
I don't wish that on anyone. I think it's going to take me a day or so to get rid of this shakey/weird feeling - I still feel like I'm still in 'save the toddler' mode and it all still has not hit me yet.
-
Malyna- Omg, how bloody scary, glad he is fine, lucky you were on the ball and quick acting! They just have no fear do they, I remember when we went to feed the ducks and Emily constantly was trying to jump off the pier part into the water. Hope you're feeling alot calmer now.
Kaz- How long did you stay in for? Do you feel you came away with some really helpful advice? How are things going? Improving bit by bit? Have you got a plan in place now of what you can do?
Heaven- After all the sleep troubles you've had thats fantastic she is doing so well now. You both got there in the end.
I've seen on FB few bad sleeping nights going on.
Meg, how is E going?
Emily has been bit off too last week, will wake between 8:30-9:30 really upset then again about 2-3am really upset. Don't know what the issue is, is happy mostly in the day.
-
:o Malyna, i can understand why you have the shakes  glad Alex is ok.
kaz how has the sleep been going?
shell has the vertigo? did you try the cold tablets?
heaven i loved your belly shots!!
-
Hi girls,
Malyna- You poor thing. My heart is in my throat for you. One of my biggest concerns goign to Fiji is a resort full of unfenced water. I have purchased one of those backpacks that are like a harness with a lead. She just runs off and has no fear at all. Lots of deep breaths hun :comfort:
Kaz- How is J going now?
Shell- how is your vertigo? It sounds horrendous!!
Heaven- Awesome that sleep is improving. YAY for no more morning sickness!
Jols- :clap for Miss M and the potty! I think we will try this Summer when I am on school hols and can really dedicate the time.
OP- DD is big on the tantrums as well and really really active!!!! DP even asked me (after spending some time watching DD with some of her toddler friends if her behaviour is normal as she seems to be the naughty one! :o I just try and remember that kids develop different things at different times and behaviour is just one of the areas that DD has room to improve (dramatically) LOL!
AFM- So sick of sickness. Not with me, DD always has something! I am over it. Hoping she will be fine for our holiday. Oh also abig news from us is we go DD a toddler bed and she has slept in it the last 2 nights without waking!!!! Fingers crossed it continues. She even had a 3hr day sleep for MIL today in her big girl bed. Will sneak in and take a photo later.
-
Ali we do potty everynight but miss or she does it in the bath, so hoping she gets it now, well for before bath anyway! no attempts to TT anytime soon here!
toddler bed :o im not ready to give up the cot yet  shes my last...!
-
Giving up the cot is part of my plan to ge DP to agree to have another baby! I am hoping he will miss it as much as me and want a little bubba to put in it :shhh:
I still have it set up in DD's room just in case though.
-
 ali, i hope it works!!
moo had a busy few days, she learnt to say duck and more, blew her nose and weed on the potty! wonder what today will hold!
-
Morning ladies,
Malyna - how are you this morning? Did A sleep alright last night? Hope Dh came home again after work and gave you both lots of TLC.
Ali - I have no idea how you are going to handle Miss A in Fiji if she is as high energy as Miss I is!!! I would freak out too! We have one of those backpack leash things (Target, if you're wondering...) and it works well when we let her go where she wants. As soon as we try and make her go where WE want, she does her passive resistance/non-violent protest thing - goes all limp and flops to the ground. I can just see us trying to drag her along through the sand in Fiji... Hope you will have more luck than we do!!
Also hope that DD isn't sick when you go - is it only 2 weeks til you go? Good work on the sleeping in the big bed too!! Well done Miss A!
Shell - DD has been waking at night here too. Maybe its an 18mth thing?? Some nights she goes back to sleep but others we need to resettle. Who knows what's going on?? Really hope you can get some answers with your vertigo issues, it must be so off putting!
Kaz - I got your package, thank you so much! Looking forward to trying it out. I take it from your pics that you soaked them in the bath? That's not a bad idea. Glad that sleep school seems to have helped! How long were you there for?
Heaven - so glad you're finally getting some good sleep, just in time for your morning sickness to pass - you must be feeling like a new human! Refreshed and well. Enjoy the second tri goodness - you've earned it! So cute of your DD when she farts! Here, we have to ask DD - "what's in your nappy?" and she will say "poooo!" but doesn't come and tell us when she's done one. Who knows about this TT business really???
Hi to everyone else!!!
AFU: much the same over here! DS is coming up to seven weeks old and into double zero clothes already - he's pretty big! DD is hanging for him to be bigger so she can play with him... when he wakes and I say "I can hear Xander, shall we go get him?" she goes running down the corridor to our room where he's sleeping saying "Anda, Anda, Andaaaaaa!" Its very cute.
No luck with the potty here - we try sitting her on it before and after bath but nothing yet. No rush I guess!
Better dash - we've got playgroup in half an hour! Hope everyone is going well!!
-
My vertigo is ok atm, touch wood, had a couple good days. Hope it stays away.
OP- very cute, nothing like big sisterly love, til he starts moving and touching her stuff lol. How does he go sleeping? Ok? He must be loving his feeds he's growing well.
Olive- am keeping the cold/flu tabs in mind, i'm doing ok last couple days. Now are you sure Millie is your last lol. I can see you going for #3. I suggested the idea to Df and he shot it down straight away.
Ali- maybe baby making plans can commence in fiji. Those harness things will be definately handy to have around water. Yay on the toddler bed sleeping.
-
Malyna - :o omghow scary!! I hope you have stopped feeling so shaky about it. That would totally freak me out too and it sounds like you handled it so well! Of all the times to have a poo in his nappy too........
Shell - glad the vertigo has given you a bit of a break. must suck!
Ali - good luck with the stealth campaign on your DP  Hope DD stays well for your holiday.
OP - That is so cute of DD. I have only just started to think about toilet training so you are very organised to have a potty and be putting DD on it regularly!
AFU - We had three great nights home from sleep school (waking 1-2 times and resettling very quickly) and then we've had 4 horror nights in a row, we're right back where we started with 2-3 wake ups of at least an hour and often 2 hours each every night. Feeling quite depressed and hopeless about it all now. I didn't think sleep school would work but I felt desperate enough to try. Stupidly, I got my hopes up when we saw improvement while there and then when we got home those first few days so now I feel worse than before we went :( We were there 4 nights and were offered another 1 or 2 - our choice (they offer it to everyone I think). I chose not to stay longer as the environment was doing my head in for a whole range of reasons and I thought we'd gained all we could anyway and the noise of all the other kids crying was keeping him awake at times. We did it gently in that I didn't leave him to cry at any stage and we just kept going in and out and settling him and then waiting to see if he'd sleep or cry again. I didn't respond to grumbling but went in pretty quick when he was actually crying. It wasn't that different to home except that we kept at it for hours whereas at home we would give up a lot earlier and either give him milk or cuddle him for ages or try co-sleeping with mixed success and we usually did all three!). We've done the same routine we followed at sleep school since we've been home. Quick cuddles and hands on settling and then trying to leave the room. Mostly he won't let us leave so we sit in there or in the doorway for hours...... I don't know why it worked and now doesn't. I'm back to feeling really tired again. Been sitting up tonight expecting him to wake as he has hardly ever not woken between 10pm and 11:30pm in his whole life.
Anyway, sorry for the poor me post. I just need to accept the situation and pick myself up and keep going. Do you guys think that it would be useful for others if I (eventually) wrote about my experiences at sleep school? I know this is a gentle parenting site but I think I would have found it helpful to read about another parents experience of trying to make sleep school 'gentle' and how it turned out for them. Maybe this isn't the right place for it though.
-
 Kaz, I think writing things down is a good idea - people can take what they want from it. I'm sure it will help some people who are also in your situation.
FWIW my boss told me his 20m old only just started "getting" the whole sleep thing so it can happen!! Sending Mr J sleeping vibes!
