Megie- Thanks for the link :) Have registered and now have a great excuse to go shopping! Just have to wait for the jobs but theat wont stop me from hitting the shops in the mean time! ;)
Nai- Omgawd! You poor thing! Hope DD1 will be okay and th rest of your family. Maybe I shouldtell MIL I have swine flu so she doesnt come round! hehehe, no but in all seriousness I hope none of you get it. Will DP stay home from work?
Rainy- DD's bouncer is a Bright Stars Soothing Vibrations bouncer. I go it from BigW for $60. Target, toysRus & othr baby shops sell them as well. It is seriosuly the best thing I got. I can jsut sit here and bounce her with my foot when I notice her starting to stir and she stays asleep. Just buy rechargable batteries as othrwise you might go through them quite quickly. She is asleep in it now and has been since 7pm. I asked the MCHN if its okay for her to sleep in it for long periods like that and she said its fine.
Shell- Glad your MIL got better second time round. Hope you get some sleep tonight.
ETA- Kaz, posted at the same time as you. That is great about little J putting on his weight and growing. You are doing a fantastic job hun! I think we will get better at trusting our instincts as time goes along.

Hi girls
Bit of a me me me post, not having the best time with DD at the moment. Had a rough weekend with her down at the in law's beach house and although Grandma is a great help still came home exhausted.
She won't settle at all now without being rocked. Today at mum and dad's house I rocked her to sleep but every time I put her down in the portacot she'd wake again, so I ended up holding her so she stayed asleep.
My dad is holding her now. Have no idea how we are going to go tonight. So tired.
Can't remember when the last time was that I got more than 3hrs sleep in a row.
Don't know what to do. I'm going to call a sleep clinic tomorrow. At wit's end.
-
OP- how did the co-sleeping go? to you hun. You sound like you are exhausted. The only other thing I can recommend is thae bouncer like I was saying to Rainy. It seriously works for us and then I am not tired from holding a baby and she sint disturbed because she is already down. Sometimes I even pick up the boucer and put it in the cot if she hasnt woken up by the time I go to bed. Let us know what the sleep clinic say
-
OP do you have private health insurance? If so, call Northpark Private inthe morning. I can't rave on about them enough. They were so good with DS. I have put in for Dd to go, and got a place a week or two back, but I decided to pt it off for another week or two as I had a lot on. Still going to go, but have to go back to the end of the wait list. There is about a 2 weeks wait.
-
Meg, my sister has said Northpark helped one of the mums in her mother's group so I'm going to call them too. Yep we do have private health insurance. Going to call the O'Connell Centre first off I think.
Thanks Ali, we have a bouncer but she doesn't sleep in it. The co-sleeping didn't go so well, I felt like I was awake from like 2am til when DH took her out when she woke at 7.30am.
Off home now. Will try and post tomorrow with how we go tonight.

Hi all :hello:
I'm still here - just coping!! Leon's nose is such a problem, we are actually considering removing the lump inside it (called a haemangeoma). He just can't breathe properly and quite often he can't breathe at all through his nose and it's completely blocked. Feeding is so hard - it is like having his head under water, he keeps having to come off to breathe and he gets so upset (who wouldn't?!)
Our friend's funeral was last week, it was really nice - so many things we didn't know about him. It still seems so unreal, like his facebook and msn accounts are still active and I keep reading all his comments and expecting him to call DP to come out for a drink. So strange and sad.
Anyway, thanks for all your kind words. Things are pretty chaotic at home so don't know how often I'll get to come on here and post but I'll keep checking in that's for sure :)
One quick question: Leon is fully breastfed and so far DP and I have no contraception lined up. I thought af returned a while ago (maybe 8 weeks ago?) but hasn't since, and I'm not 100% if it was af as I still sort of had the post-birth discharge and it could have just been that. Anyway...is there much of a chance that I could get pregnant again while still solely breastfeeding? I couldn't think of anything worse right now!
-
Holly - I'm not 100% sure but I think fully bf'ing gives you about a 75% coverage. Did your Dr/careprovider discuss contraception with you at your 6 week check? I wouldn't rely on it if I were you hun. Poor Leon!! It must be like having a permanent cold.
OP - Massive  for you mate. You sound so tired and Isabels sleep (or lack of) has been going on for a while now. I hope you had a better night last night and that you can get into a sleep school asap.
Ali - Hi hun!! I hope your MIL troubles are over. How is your healthy eating/lifestyle going?
Quick tip girls - especially the first timers in the group - I just bought 16 classic children's books for about $40 at the post office. They come in packs of 4 - Beatrix Potter (Peter Rabbit, Benjamin Bunny etc); Pamela Allen (Who Sank the Boat? A Lion in the Night etc); Mem Fox (Possum Magic, Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge etc) and Graeme Base (Animalia, Eleventh Hour etc). They were all paperback except for the Beatrix Potter set but it's still great value. I was at the bookstore yesterday and bought less books and paid more $$!! I also bought a few Mr. Men books online last night (I am a sad case and have been collecting the books for years - before I even wanted children!! because I love them so much). So now my Mr. Men collection is almost complete. There are two books I can't find yet.
-
oh kaz i have quite a few mr men books... which 2 are you looking for??

Holly- I was in a similar position to you with DTD and went to the doctors. They said not to rely on it but if you re fully breastfeeding then you are covered about 90% for the first 6months. They said nothing is 100% and also to be careful with the mini-pill. apparently you have to take it at the exact same time everyday or it is not effective and it still isnt 100% either. The doctor recommended condoms as the safest way not to become pregnant but we havent used condoms for the last 7yrs!!! Havent DTD since so we'll have to have another chat about things in that department.
Kaz- My weightloss is going okay, need to update the blog. Lost 2Kg but still a long way off where I want to be. I am no where near consistent enough. I jsut like food way too much but I am starting to eat healthier foods more. I love books as well. Have a massive collection just like you. I saw some Mr Men ones at the post office as well the other day. They always have such great value on their books. Pamela Allen ons are great also the Eric Carle books are always a winner and one the kids in my class lovd last year and my brothers when they were little was called Baby Boomsticks! Cant remember who its by but it is about this baby that grows into a giant! Very cute!

hi girls
thanks for all your responses about sleep. would you believe after my huge freak-out about sleep that he actually slept really well ast night. always the way!
kaz- can you get that book package at any australia post? i love pamela allen and mem fox.
your ds's sleeping sounds v similar to mine actually. it's just nice to hear my ds is quite similar to others his age iykwim?
holly- just be really careful. i fell pg when ds1 was 7 months old- still bfing about 10 times a day, no af...so it def can happen very easily. ask your gp for the mini pill or use condoms.
op- i feel your pain hun, my ds2 is the same. i usually rock him in my rocking chair for an hour everynight once my ds1 has gone to bed. good luck with sleep school
ali- i'm going to check out that bouncer next time i'm at big w. dh is getting so sickof me buying baby gadgets though! esp since this is our last baby. oh well, can always sell them on ebay i say!
megie- wherabouts is northpark? do they do a day-stay?
-
Holly - Yes you def can get preg while fully BF. AF returned for me just as you described, and i have had regular AF ever since. Miss E is fully BF too
-

we had a crappish night last night DD cant decide if she likes hands wrapped or unwrapped :wall: so was up 4 times last night i fed for two but resettled the others (tried to resettle) but had to resort to the dummy, she normally only has it to go to sleep but doesnt need it after feeds overnight, so was a little annoying!
sooooooo op i really think its a developemental thing, will check wonderweeks book!
holly good to see you back hun  i hope leon gets the breathing issues sorted, how are your sisters going?
ali yay on the weight loss!! your mil sounds painfull!
