Morning all
We had another unsettled night... I think I got two hours, maybe even three but I can't quite remember. I've started wrapping her again, on top of the sleeping bag, in the hope that she'll stop knocking out her dummy. Don't know if its working or not...
Just had a strange conversation with the O'Connell Centre sleep school - they seem to think I am doing everything right, with the resettling techniques etc. Even if I want to book in for the residential stay program, they can't fit me in until August so things could have settled by then anyway.
SIGH. Going to MCHN for 4 month check today so I'll have a talk to her and see what she says.
Holly, thanks for your kind words, it is really nice of you to be thinking of me when things are so tough for you! Sounds like last night was a terrible one for you, I'm so sorry. I've tried figuring out if its things I'm eating too, but have drawn a blank. Here's hoping it gets better for us soon!
Shell, likewise, I'm sorry you're having a tough time.
Jols, so pleased you had a good stretch of sleep last night! Even if you got sprung by Sophie, LOL
Det - good work on the tax! Looking forward to hot choc tomorrow - be warned I may unload on you :D
Pinny, how did you go last night? You're not bad with your personals, just have a look at me :D
Kaz, how are you going with the cloth over night?? I've got Isabel in cloth overnight, we've been pretty lucky with wetting through incidents, she has been a bit damp in the mornings but I think we've got the right combo - I use a bamboo MCN (Tots Bots Bamboozle, its not a pocket or AIO, not sure what type it is!), with a bamboo tri-fold booster and a piece of microfleece on top to keep her feeling dry, with a PUL cover. Its trial and error really until you find what works!
Can't remember what else... sorry...
-
:grouphug: for everyone suffering sleep deprivation! I had a bad night last night but it was my own fault as I couldn't get back to sleep after feeding J at 2:30am :wall:
AJP - So glad you got some good stretches of sleep hun!
OP - I really hope Isabel settles for you soon hun. You do sound like you're doing everything right. I agree with Shell too, once she's sleeping better, your r/s will improve too. I was chicken last night and put him back in a sposie but I do want to find a night nappy that works.
Pinny - It's been cold here too lately. I hate the cold!!
Holly - I think you do an amazing job with L. It must be so hard to see him so upset all the time.
Nai - whoohoo!! go girl! WW is great. I'm not strict everyday but it has helped me to be more controlled about what I shove in my mouth LOL.
Meg - What a dilemma! You want J to go to FDC but you also want E to sleep!
Shell - I've heard that bfing can be a totally different experience from one child to the next.
Det - J is similar. Doesn't go down for the night until 10-11pm usually but then after that only wakes once, occasionally twice!
Ali - Js feeds are all over the place atm. Anywhere from 2-4 hours but he does go a bit longer over night usually although lately its been 4 hourly overnight too. We feed 7-9 times a day here generally.
AFM - Had Jacob to the docs today because in that third and final poo yesterday there was some blood :o Not heaps but not normal. Anyway, doc says he might have had a tummy bug that's probably passed. Poor little bloke. I'm blaming that nosey friend that was here on Sat - DP just told me she was holding his hand!!! (after telling me she couldn't hold him cause she wasn't well gggrrrr!!!!). He wasn't unsettled but it explains the huge volume he was producing! I have to collect a sample if there's any more blood....eewwww..... Anyway he's just woken.
 to all.
-
Kaz, hope J's poos are normal from now on - how scary to see blood! And thanks for your support - it is really hard and I know I'm doing all that I can at the moment.
OP, that sucks that they can't fit you in until August! That's not helpful at all! How did the 4 month check go today?
Meg, hope you had a good day today with E. So how noisy are these vapourisers??
Pinny-mum, yes that's exactly like me - the kilo's isn't what's bothering me, it's my body that's has changed shape!! It's really the extra skin on my hips that peeves me lol not to mention the stretch marks...
Hi to everyone else, hope everything is going well. L has his 4 month check up at the health centre tomorrow - looking forward to seeing how much he weighs. He hasn't been weighed since the 2 month check (which was actually done at 10 weeks) and I think he was 6kgs then. I'm guessing 7kg tomorrow! Had a pretty ordinary day...went to the chiro, then an old friend popped in unannounced and I looked like crap, house upside down, felt awkward feeding L when she was sitting right next to me! Ah well... oh still haven't heard back from the ENT specialist :wall: ANNOYING! So I faxed off the referral, which means my appointment won't be fast-tracked, I just have to wait like everyone else. I don't know what else to do, I keep getting the machine when I call. I am going to push to get L's haemangioma removed. They will also check if there are others in his airways, which means a scopey thing up his nose and down his throat and doc says he will be awake :( Not looking forward to it!
Anyway, that's my news. DP off from work tomorrow, but he's of no help tonight because he is sick! So I'll sleep downstairs with L again :(
-
I hear you girls on shape changes, I'm pretty much same pre preg weight but my pants don't fit! After each child my bum and hips have increased, it depressing, I need to tone up those areas and my tummy too this time is flabby still.
Holly- Maybe leave message on there answering machine? It must be so frustrating, its hard to have to wait for things like this, with ourselves doesn't matter so much but with kids you just want them in immediately. If they can't fast track you at least try and get them to tell you what the length of waiting is gonna be. Hopefully cutting out dairy might help, have heard good stories and guess it won't hurt to try whatever may work!
Kaz- Poor J. Has he had any nappy rash or sores anywhere that could've been the source of the blood? Hopefully he is over the tummy bug, guess it makes sense after all those poos he did.
OP- August! God you'd hate to be in a really bad state with this waiting, do you feel better or worse after the conversation? I mean on the one hand its great to know you are already doing right thing on the other its hard they couldn't offer anything more. Do you find the dummy more hinderance then a help? Some nights (like last) when she keeps thrashing around and knocking it out I think is it worth it but then I'm too tired to try anything else when I know the dummy will shut her up.
Lets hope we all have great night sleeps tonight. It is easier this time round to tell myself its not forever cause Ash was a bad sleeper as a baby and now fine so I know there is light at the end!
-
Holly - Alex gets very windy and red faced and upset when I eat icecream.
:grouphug:
-
OP gee august seems so far away  did you end up booking in??
how did you go at the nurse??
kaz the blood must have been scary :o hope it was a once off
holly id be ring the ENT guys til they give you an appointment. looking forward to hearing how much leon weighs, hope you have a good few days off with DF.
shell is emily wrapped??? hows ash's behaviour going at bedtime??
tarkine oohhh no icecream :o
pinny yay on DH resettleing!! sometimes they need to not smell the milk!! i really want some chooks!
meg ours isnt too noisy i had it going all day today too
heres hoping we all have a good night tonight :grouphug: millie is asleep with one arm out but has woken several times already
-
Hi all,
Hope everyone has a good night too!
Tarkine- I couldn't eat soft serve icecream with DD, I loved mcdonalds sundae's & couldn't eat them coz it would make unsettled with pain.
shell- & holly hear you about the flabby tummy, feel like i have ti tuck mine in sometimes:D & the stretch marks are so thick this time, not very attrative but i treat them like medals/reminders of being pregnant.
Jols- hope your ok??? How's sophie's cold???
Lewis asleep in my arms, going to put him to bed, he has had some great day sleeps today 2x 2 hourly and 2x 1 hourly so hoping he sleeps well tonight, coz as they say sleep is meant to promote sleep, so i'm hoping to prove that theory right tonight will post in morning and let u know.
Sleep wishes to all needing it!!1
-
AJP- Not wrapped, we used to but with her hands out but she would end up half unwrapped with all the thrashing around she does so we've moved into sleeping bag. Ash is alot better takes awhile to wind down to go to sleep but she knows she just has to stay in her bed. We alos bought her the nappy pants nappies so she can take herself to toilet if needed cause otherwise she kept taking off her nappy the calling us to put it back on and would do this like 5 minutely. How bout Sophie? She alot better?
Pinny- wow thats great, I still can't get Em to sleep more than 40mins at a time, once she is awake she is wide awake and there is no getting her back.
I'm looking forward to Thurs, I better check out weather, prolly cold, just hope not rainy.
-
Jols I love our chooks, they are so tame like having dogs some days. Abbey just adores them and they even try to come inside sometimes!! You should get some they are the best pets.
:D
-
pinny cold is better thanks to a diffferent cough syrup!! not a fan of the stuff but its dried up the snot  just coughing now!! but no toddler group for us tomorrow :( might suss out the chooks
shell i end up wrapping millie in an oversized cot sheet so she cant escape!! glad ash is staying in bed for you!! sophie went through the taking off nappy phase too a while back, was very annoying!!
i think its supposed to be fine just cold on thurs!!
-
Holly - No my vapouriser is not too loud or anything, but for some reason J hates it in his room and wants it off. So i have put it where he can't seei t from his bed.
shell/Piny - My tummy is the same. Just doesn't seem to want to bounce back like last time. I go to the gym about 3 times a week, and do the 9km ish return trip into town about once a week. (including heart attack hill on the way home) But the scales still have me 6kgs heavier.
OP - Like I think I may have said previously, call North Park. Thier wait is about 2 weeks. PM me if you want more info about them, as I was in there with J.
I was going to go in with E, but I have put it on hold for the moment. I just have too much on, and when I come to the crux of it, she is pretty good at self ettling, jsut doesn't stay asleep. She is going ok overnight though, so don't want o jinx myself.
In saying all that, she has been very windy and upset today. must have been the chocolate i had yesterday. She is also refusing the dummy, and spitting it out. But the problem is that the dummy is the way to resettle her, and as she is refusing, she won't go back to sleep.
I am dreading tonight. Guarenteed J will wake and E will too. Coz she won't have the dummy, I can't do the usual if she wakes in the night, and just pop it back in. I will have to feed her. DH is on night shift, so it is just me.
Better get myself off to sleep to at least get ome zzzzzzz's in before the fun begins!
-
Kaz- how scary! Hope he is okay now Keep us updated. I posted a surprise for you today. Hope you get some sleep tonight
Holly- Was thinking about you today. I have a gf who seems to be having the exact same probs with reflux with her baby boy who is about the same age as L. I had coffee with her today and she said she has been to so many doctors who just dont understand, they just keep prescribing medication (zantac 3 times a day) and it isnt working. She thinks there is something wrong with his airways as well as he seems to struggle with breathing and no one will check them!!! She was telling me she has booked into karitane??? (think thats what its called) but its a 2mth wait. I know L has some other probs as well but just wanted to give you more  I wish I could give some advice (to both of you) but have no idea what to do. I hope the check up goes well tomorrow for you.
OP- how did your check up go??? with the sleep. Weare having similar issues. We are wrapping again now as well. I think I am feeding too much at night (actually i know I am) but I cant seem to get her out of this phase of wanting the boob from midnight until the morning.
Shell- I am glad you have made a decision with the feeding. You have to do what is right for both of you and I think you have made the right decision for you girls. I think that combo sounds good as well. How is the hair loss going? I spoke t my hairdresser yesterday as when she was combing myhair heaps and heasp was coming out and she said it was okay, it should settle down so I hope it will. I have a receeding spot on the top left and right corners of my heas with just baby hairs now! I seriously feel like I am going bald!!!!
Jols- Yay for getting a good night sleep. Hope that you get the same tinght. I PMSL at Sophie's reaction to your effort of sneaking in her room! THat is classic, I probably would have been in fits of laughter in her room after that.
Det- good work on getting tax done. Hope you get some more nights off now from paperwork.
Pinny- I actually HATE my body now. If I had money I would get some plastic surgery done. I always used to have a nice waist/tummy no matter how many kilos I put on (I never put it on here) and now its yuk and I dont know how to deal with that. DP grabbed at it last night in bed when he cuddled me and I almost cried. I really hope that I can get enough self-control and dedication to getting it off.
Nai- Hope weight watchers goes well. I think you look gorgeuos already
Raver- how you doing girl?? How is Bella and Logan.
Tarkine- I knew I had something to write to you but forgot so will have to come back after I re-reas to jog my memory
Heaven- Been loving all the threads you have started. Can so relate to so many of them. Hope you and DD are good.
Meg- Did you end up getting J to FDC? That is great it is so close to you.
Rainy- Hope that mastitis is going away.
AFM- as I said above, sleep is an issue. Last night DP had to get up to Ash and try and settle her as I didnt even hear her  he thought I was pretending to be asleep because she was crying and he was even saying to me that she is crying but I didnt hear him  I think I really am sleep deprived as she was in the room next door and DP was lying next to me and I didnt hear. I am just going to bring her in with me tonight when she waskes up for her first feed. My birthday tomorrow, it is funny now I dont look at my birthday so much as being about me, but was thinking about my mum and the fact that it will be the day that she gave birth to me all those years ago. Funny how your perspective changes once you become a mum. Well this post has taken me ages. so I better copy and paste before I send JIC.
:grouphug: hope we all get some sleep. :crossfingers:
ETA- Ashlyn has a cough. Should I give her anything???
-
There have been 7 new posts in the time it took me to write that!!!! Now I have to catch up again!
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY for tomorrow. I just have to say that my hair ais also still falling out by the bucketload. It did too with J. It stopped at about 5 months, and I ended up with a very strange looking fringe!
-
:birthday2: Happy Birthday Ali!!!:birthday2:
hope you have a fab day hun!!!!!!
ali unfortunatly you cant give anything to kida with colds til after the age of 2! hope ash is ok
-
Happy Birthday Ali!!
OP - can the sleep place have you on a list in case someone pulls out and you can take their spot? August seems like so far away!
Ali - I found with DD1 that I didn't lose weight until after I stopped fully BF her and when she was 9 months I was back to my old weight. I even got into a bikini again. I don't think that will happen this time though - it seems like I have more loose skin. You are young so your skin will bounce back better - you WILL see your waist again :D Thanks for saying I look good cos I feel like a bit fat frumpy milking cow at the moment
We had a shocker last night - Miss J now has a cold to go with the teething so she was waking constantly and not feeding properly because she can't breath while feeding. So she was in bed with me all night and waking me up every couple of hours. Then DD1 woke us both up at 6.30 by shining her torch in our faces GRRRR!!!!
-
Happy Birthday Ali!!! Have a fantastic day with your family!!!!
OP- I was going to ask the same thing about the waiting list. A girl in my excercise class had her name on the waiting list for July, but got a call about 2 weeks after she put her name down for a week stay in the O'Connell unit- Canterbury????by memory that was about 4 weeks ago so you may get lucky too.
Ali- Hope you feel better about your body soon.. I'm sure you feel worse about it than it really is. We are always harsher on ourselves.
Rainy- Hope the mastitis is all sorted out.
We had an ok night here up at 1am then 6am and woke again at 8.30am. no needs to go back to bed but is being a worm and can't seem to settle.
-
Terribkle night here. Last night it wan't J but E. I think there is something wrong, but I don't know what. No smiles, just not happy. She is flat out refusing her dummy, and that was the way she settles, so she is just constantly crying. She also has a blocked nose. last week she was such a delight and so happy, then something has made her upset.......
