well after a week of only 30 minute catnapping Caroline slept yesterday for 3 hours!! I had to wake her up to feed her though but she was sleeping SO deeply. One very tired girl! not sure what i'm in for today, it's so hard to know when they keep chopping and changing. it sure keeps me on my toes. i could have done so much had i known how long she would sleep, instead I kept kind of hovering thinking she'd be awake any minute or wouldn't start anything that would take too much time figuring she'd be awake.
trace, he's settled down but he still has a little bud their... it might start going down again tho, i'm not sure. He seems way to young to have an actual tooth!!
illeyena, go Caroline on the 3hr nap! Woo!
Everyone else... have your bubba's started squealing yet? Holy cow :o My poor ears! Happy sqealing, you're not giving me any attention squealing... squealing cos I can, I'm tired squealing... I don't think he ever cries anymore!
Hey ladies
Ive been reading but too lazy to post
Milly is going great, she's in bed by 7pm everynight and gets cranky if she isnt and usualy wakes once between 1 and 5 am and then up again at 7am. been having issues with day sleeps but I can deal with that if im getting sleep at night
she is a happy chucker :shakehead: so we smell of vomit all day but she is so damn cute that i can deal with that too :D
Lucy has been a major pain in bum atm im hoping its just a stage :wall: she is such a ratbag :wall: but again so cute
DH had snip on friday so no more babies for us.
Hope everyone is happy and getting some sleep
chat later
Party-of-five - Caroline is the same at the moment re; the day sleep, she just does the 30 minutes and won't resettle! last week there was one day where she passed out and slept solidly for 3 hours but that was a once off. Friday and today she was SO cranky after only 30 minutes I ended up putting her back to bed after much protests from her but she did go back to sleep. Having complained about all that she DOES sleep well at night, either sleeping all the way through or waking up once for a feed.
how did DH go post snip? I want to get DH to do the same if he decides for sure we won't have any more, I don't want to be on the pill for the next 20 plus years! I'm happy to go one more but he is the one who's saying he isn't sure. he's SO smitten with Caroline though so we'll see!
oh we set up a Mii on the Wii for Caroline so we could track her weight lol she is all of 5.2kgs so still quite petite.
Hi all,
Hope you are all fine, and enjoying your 3 months olds at the moment, I know I'm really loving all the smiles, noise and personality that Darcey is sharing with me.
Trace, I understand you're in Adelaide at the moment....are you free? Do you want to catch up for a coffee?
I have horrendous news. One of our dogs has fleas:o. I am sooooooooooo angry. EVERYTHING will need to be washed. Luckily we have floorboards, but we have big persian rugs on them, plus Darcey's rocker chair thing is so low to the floor. :o OMG, I was just thinking the little devil was sitting on the rug in her room yesterday. I could just kill that dog. I'm not a big fan of his as it is, he's grumpy, old, tries to bite me all the time, doesn't come when he's called (despite dragging him along to obedience training), but is always there, under my feet when I don't want him to. He barks at NOTHING, whines when the telephone rings. AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!
I've been feeling so down in the dumps, and now I'm just thinking about how much work I have to do tomorrow to 'bomb' the house, I'm feeling overwhelmed. Oh, and we have a funeral to go to:shakehead: tomorrow afternoon. I'm going to have to put all of the toys that are in the loungeroom in the wash, get the carpets cleaned, I've pulled apart the cloth from her rocker, and will need to handwash that one.
And my DH is now getting annoyed with me, b/c I don't have any inclination to DTD?????????:wall:
Apologies for the rant, I think I've just let everything get to me today., so off to bed. The quicker I get to bed, the better tomorrow will be. I really am normally an optimist, so apologies again for the rant.
Take Care,
Petal
tracehb - thanks, i was fiddling with the camera and managed to get that one of Z and i LOVE it... she has the most amazing eyes (just like her big sis & dad) and it really shows in that photo.
Ava is 18mths and is getting her top molars, 1 has cut and is almost right through (breaking through the middle of the gum OUCH) and the other is just breaking now and the bottom two are rising.. my poor little midget.
Hows Maddie been going, no more trying to gag herself i hope.
Teagz - how funny is the squealing, Ava used to do it.. Z doesn't she is just CONSTANTLY babbling to herself and goes oooohhhhh ahhhhhh and her little mouth forms the funniest shapes.
Hows his sleeping going, back to normal overnight yet?
PO5 - you make me laugh, Ava has been a PITA aswell, maybe they are having secret conversations we don't know about.
Milly has a nice little routine going, thats awesome.. not so lucky with Z yet but she's only waking once over night and we had 2 nights where she slept through from 8:30 to 6 but back to waking a bit again :wall:
well AFM we have been going ok, as i mentioned Z isn't sleeping through but seems generally ok. a lot more awake time during the day which Ava seems to be enjoying.
I have the FUNNIEST video of Ava rolling Zara around on the floor, i think i am going to have 2 little rough nuts.. who needs toys when you have a baby sister
Zara is NEARLY out of some of her 000 suits already :o i am not used to having an AVERAGE sized baby... lol Ava was so so tiny for so long.
Is everyone looking forward to mothers day, any lovely plans or presents that you know of?
Not sure here, we went to DP's nans last year and then to Eureka tower, DP said we were moving then but then i realised the date and said NO i WANT a proper mothers day, i have 2 kids and i deserve a 'day off' well as much as you can when 1 is soley dependent on you and the other is just too quit to palm off... lol
Well night all.. hope everyone is well..
Hi everyone,
Apologies again for the rant last night. But, gee, I feel soooo much better for it. :D
Last night we vacuumed the house, got the dogs beds outside, this morning I was at our local Coles (waiting for the doors to open at 7), came home, washed one of the dogs twice with the flea stuff, put the flea stuff on her after that, fed Darcey, now washed the other dog twice, have done two loads of washing, getting ready to bomb the house at midday (the funeral is at 12.30pm, so good timing).
Changed Darcey this morning, and realised she doesn't have anything to wear to the funeral today. I mean she does, but all her 'nice' things are in the wash, she only has 'around the house' type things (e.g. Bonds purple and grey stripe all in one etc). So, went to the next drawer in her tall boy and pulled out some new clothes. All the nice 000 items are still miles too big. She has a number of PUmpkin Patch size 0 - 3 months. Tried one on for size....still very big, but we're going to wear one of the outfits regardless today. It's either that or the bonds outfit. My little girl really is quite little.
My DH is actually looking forward to the funeral. Strange I know, but this arm of his family are kind of estranged, well, they really keep to themselves, don't mix with the other part of his family, so he's looking forward to seeing them, find out how everyone is. Oh, and show off Darcey:lol:. I am so lucky to have such a loving DH, who just adores his daughter. When we were pregnant, he kept saying how much he wished it would be a girl. Hmmm, better have two outfits ready for Darcey. Sometimes her Dad changes her into 'prettier' things. So funny.
Is anyone's little one giggling yet? Darcey has only had one little giggle, when I said she was stinky, but apart from that, hasn't yet had open giggles. She squeals with delight, but no giggles.
Anyway, got lots and lots to do...got to organise a plumber...doing the last rinse on the last dog, and the laundry tap has started to leak from the wall *sigh*. What a great time we're having at the moment.
On a much brighter note, I have the most beautiful little girl smiling at me and talking to me right now. I think its time for play, and lots of it.
Take Care,
Petal
wow Petal you are a force this morning! well done on the progress!
we've had a few giggles, on Saturday night she let out a few really loud ones - it was amazing! otherwise we've just had lots of smiles, quiet giggles and little squeals.
Jackson's been openly giggling for a few weeks now... I burst into happy tears whenever he does it... I'm such a sook  but it's such a happy sound!
Milly is the biggest stooge when it comes to giggling...my mouth gets sore from making silly noises but its worth it in the end when she gives me a little giggle
Lol, POF, dont you love it? We went to Perth on the weekend and I was busting out every farm yard or zoo animal I could think of (i was sitting in the back entertaining Jackson because he was getting a bit restless) and I had him in fits! God it was so damn cute <3 But yes, every muscle in my face was a wee bit tired afterward ><;
woohoo DH and I had our first night out last night since Caroline was born! we went to the Kelly Clarkson concert which was good. it was just so great to go out and do something fun. Caroline was really horrible yesterday and climaxed with screams she nearly vomitted on she was so distraught but she gets SO overtired from only sleeping 30 minutes at a time that she's beside herself. Yesterday was my second mum's group and I spent 3/4 of the time outside with her screaming nonstop for 30 minutes. It was awful. anyways I am hoping that this passes SOON.
sorry this is long but I just wanted to run something past you ladies. Caroline took a bottle of EBM for the first time (other than trialling a small amount a few weeks ago but finished the feed on the breast) last night when we went out. anyways, last night was the first time that she had a full feed with a bottle for her pre bed sleep and mum gave her another bottle later in the night just before we got home (i was hoping to feed her myself when i got home so wasn't happy!) anyways, today she won't feed properly and it's awful. She usually takes an hour to feed in total and the first feed this morning was 20 minutes and the next was only about 15 minutes. She DID however sleep for just under 2 hours this morning so that's a good thing after these horrible 30 minute sleeps! she seems fine in herself otherwise and has wet nappies so doesn't seem unwell. After her afternoon sleep, of 45 minutes I might add she wouldn't feed at all and was really grumpy so i put her back to bed (she eventually went back to sleep after grizzling for ages). so I'm really HOPING she'll feed properly when she wakes again.
I called the Maternal Health Nurse and she said that Caroline could have become a more efficient sucker but she thinks it is too coincidental after having the bottle so thinks it is because of the bottle. she said that if we gave her a bottle she bets she'd happily drink it all but that if we want to continue to breastfeed to perserve and she'll get back in to the hang of it. She agreed that if we start doing bottles regularly then it's all down hill as far as breastfeeding so i am going to just perservere. she said that she thinks that Caroline should be more efficient and eating in about 20 minutes instead of an hour (although there are no hard and fast rules). she said that I should call the breastfeeding clinic and try and get in for thursday to see if they can help. I have called and left a message with them. in the meantime I have got Caroline back to sleep so will try and feed her again when she wakes up and hope she takes something even if it is only 10 minutes so we can get home! (I am still at my mum's house which is 45 minutes from home).
any thoughts?
illeyena, jacksons been like that today too. Just been really fussy over the boob. And then I switched sides and he latched on fine ... and the last time he had a bottle was over a month ago and he didn't even take it because he's a booby man...
do you think that you might be extra full? Seeing as you didn't feed her last night, and your flow is fast so she's getting more quicker?
other than that... i have no idea
eta, i dunno if i'm allow to do this but someone will tell me sooner or later if i'm not!
I'm getting rid of my MCN's. I'm just not using them enough. I have 10 CT's left, I was hoping to sell them for 20 each as they have only been used probably three times each..so if any of you are interested, lemme know :)
Teagz - that's a VERY valid point re; the flow and I was sooooooooooooooo FULL!! by her pre bed feed tonight she fed the full hour which is normal for her and my boobs were very thankful!
how long does everyone else's feeds take? is an hour too long still? and if not then those with older babies, when do they start shortening the feeds and less often? an hour feed every three hours is getting a bit much some days  and while I am happy to do it for now I guess I just need a light shone at the end of the tunnel :o
sorry for hogging so many posts!!!
Hi girls! I'm still around, usually reading from my iphone so bit too lazy to write a decent post usually! :)
I'm glad to read that everyone is going well. Amelia is doing great too. She had her 3 month check up last week and is growing nicely. Her weight has slowed down a little bit, but still gaining and the CHN thinks it is probably to do with the fact that she is moving alot. She rolls from her back to her sides, plus she digs her heels into the floor and pushes herself backwards :o and she also lays under her playgym and goes nuts batting the toys hanging above her...hehe...she is also babbling heaps and interacting heaps more. Sooo cute <3
illeyena, our feeds are taking around 30 minutes but her evening feed before bed she goes for almost an hour...I think you're doing great, an hour for a feed is still ok at this stage, some babies are just leisurely drinkers ;) But yes they all do get quicker at some stage! My DS fed for one hour every TWO hours! So only an hour between feeds. I was exhausted! But he sped up real quick, by about 4-5 months he was taking about 30 minutes per feed.
Illey- The maternal health nurse sounded dead against any bottle. I personally do not think she would have been turned away from feeding due to having 2 bottles of EBM. If in doubt, you could always ring the Australian Breastfeeding association too. The flow could have been the issue like Teagz said. I have found Alice fussing around for feeds for the past few weeks too. Our feeds are taking about 30 minutes now. Although some snacks take less. They do get more efficient very soon. Plus you guys are using the shields still. Could that be making the feeds longer?
Hi everyone. Sounds like all the babies are tracking similarly. We have the catnapping during the day with the odd 2 hour sleep in there. Alice is sleeping from about 830- to anywhere between 3 and 6. She then goes back to sleep for a couple more hours before our fun starts. I have found if we go out, any resemblence of a routine is out the window and the day is gone.
My goodness they are all near 4 months now.... More needles :( but where has this year gone?
