Woke up sick this morning...had a touch of the runs and felt so sick. Palmed off Hayley to DF who was still half asleep in bed (neither of us got much sleep last night...little miss was quite restless, she needs to sort out the difference between day and night! During the day she sleeps like a log but at night just wants to be cuddled) and had a few choice sentences snapped at me...2 showers later and a tiny bit of breakfast and I'm feeling much better. So hopefully it was a once-off thing as I don't know where I would have picked up a tummy bug from.
I have kind of given up on trying to get her to breastfeed and have just been expressing instead then topping up with formula. Almost expressing a full feed for her each time so hopefully my supply continues to increase. I think she's a little lazy and it's just so much easier to drink from a bottle than go to the effort of latching on and sucking. Lol.
Better dash and hang some washing out while it's nice and sunny.
ss_storm - I hope it was just a once off thing. That's the last thing you need with a newborn!
Bek - that is so fantastic that the BF is working out for you.
Miss excited - you did so well to type all that one handed. I agree with the others about the MCHN. You have to be comfortable with who you are seeing.
Amelia sleeps like a log during the day too but is getting a bit better overnight. I gave her a dummy last night which I really didn't want to do since we are still trying to wean DD1 off it for sleeping but Amelia just wants to suck and suck. My nipples are really worse for wear with all her sucking. We also discovered she had oral thrush and so we gave her two doses of NIlstat over two days which has cleared it up completely. I think I might have had a slight case of it on my nipples too.
I had a little woohoo this morning as I found a pair of jeans in my cupboard that I could squeeze into lol. It feels sooooo good not wearing maternity pants.
Ooop, little miss is stirring and my boobs are tingling so must be feeding time soon.

sorry have been such a bad buddy - i just cant find the time to get on here much... i try to read t see how everyone is and by then i need to log off to feed or do something with DS1 or whatever. we have the naming tomorrow - about 60-80 guests expected at our place... will be a relief when that is over!
My little man is doing so well - he is just delicious. he is still sleeping a lot, i forgot how much they sleep at first, sounds like all yours are too so i wont worry about it. he sleeps pretty well at night at the moment (touch wood) - waking ever 2.5 hrs or so for a feed. has a good sleep or 2 during the day, so i cant complain. he is a really good feeder, seems to bring up some of the milk after each feed but i know i have good supply so i am thinking he is just taking in more than his little tum can hold. he doesnt get upset about it.
i have my 1st MACHnurse visit on monday - last timei gave up on them at about 4 months as i found they always made me feel worse not better and everything was going well - so interesting to see how this goes. i just really want to know that he is gaining weight - i think so judging from clothes but hes tilll seems sooooo teeny that i want to see the numbers.
Miss E - i agree with the others try a diff nurse... i think that for us mums we need someone to support us not make us feel worse re choices or progress esp when things are going well (as it sounds like they are).
Bek - sounds like things going well with Miss E!
Storm - hope it was a once off for you! tyou are right a tummy bug is not what you need. how are you finding the expressing?
Tinsel - how are you going with having the 2 of them - quite an adjustment hey! is M in childcare at all or do you have them both with you all the time?
Jess - glad you feel good about your feeding choices. how is the engorgement going - hope you are not in pain! is your mum still with you?

While I have the computer, without DD1 trying to use it and DD2 trying to feed, I thought I would send you all a quick post. Things are going well. Grace is feeding well and sleeping well as well. As long as I let her drain one breast each feed she sleeps well after the feed so at night things have been pretty good. She does have some nappy rash that we have been trying to get rid of for a week now and it is driving me nuts! poor little thing has a very red tushy...
However need to go, DD1 isn't getting into bed and DD2 is now wanting a feed... so I'll try to come back on for a full post in a little while.

I emailed a couple of my neighbours who go to the same centre and have got the name of a nurse who they like, so am going to call on monday and see if I can reschedule next weeks appt.

Sorry I haven't been on much, I've been lurking but it seems everytime I actually go to reply, I'm interupted.
We're doing ok. Oliver feeds well (he'd gained 430gms at his 12day appointment {was 200gm above his birth weight}) and is sleeping *slightly* better. I know I shouldn't complain, he sleeps well at night, provided he's in bed with us. Trying to work on days though, would be nice if I could actually put him down. I'm finding it a bit stressful trying to actuaqlly get anything done. Our extension *still* isn't completed and it's all just a bit much stress atm!
How are the other MCN using mums going? We're doing well, up until last night Ollie had been in cloth exclusively. I ended up buying some sposies yesterday, because, as I'm feeding Oliver in bed, I've found I've fallen asleep a few times before changing his nappy. Rather he wasn't in a wet cloth nappy for 7 hours, so have decided I'll use sposies at night just incase.
I have to say, all you first time mummies, totally take a nap when your baby does.
I still have not been able to have even one nap since Oliver was born and I'm hanging out for one!

Hes been in and out of hospital with jaundice...and has had his first cold....but happy to say hes a good baby and slowly getting into a good routine...well a ok one for the moment:clap:
Chrissy of course you can be part of our group, must say we've missed you! Glad to hear Blake is doing well. I know how stressful it can be with the jaundice, Ash had it in hospital, but it must be hard when it keeps coming and going. But by the sounds of his weight he's doing well though despite the jaundice :dance:
Chrissy - would love to have you here! Glad to hear that breast feeding is going well and Blake is putting on weight. Poor thing with a cold, hope he got over it really quickly.
LF - we're doing MCN as well. No sposies since we came home from hossy :dance: just washing everyday which is pretty easy, but the tumble dryer has been getting a work out cause it keeps raining here in SA - which I am happy about but my nappies need sun! :wall: I put a BBH fitted nappy and use a cover at the 11pm feed and then don't change her at the next feed. Seems to be working well so far :crossfingers:

Pregagainpan - hope the naming went well - Grace also does the same thing with feeds over night, lets hope this stays the same or the sleeps get longer!
Tinsel - how exciting to find a pair of non maternity pants that fit! I fit into my trackies but I don't think they count... How has the dummy gone? Has it interfered with the BFing? I was thinking of getting one for grace for the same reason...
SS - glad to hear that you are able to express enough for Hayley, even if she isn't getting it from the source, she is still getting the EBM. Hope that the bug was a one off and it has gone away.

sorry i havent been on in a while, but how is everyone and there bubs going???
amiteal is great :) she has a few problems with wind but other than that she is a very very easy bub im very lucky, during the day she feeds every 3 hours but or a night its every 5!!!!
and she is finally the size of a normal new born lol she is 4 weeks old tomorrow and weighs 3.3kg!!!! lol she is still sooooo small ppl ask me how many days old she is!!!!! hehehe.

well i have finally got a chance to post something in here.
Antone Jack was born on the 13th of july 11 days over weighing 10 pound at 5.41pm he is now a week old. he has gone to feeding every 30 min at night before my milk came to feeding every 3-4 hours since my milk came
My "bug" seemed to be just a once off thing thankfully...who knows what/how/why!
Midwife came to visit this morning, and we are now officially discharged from hospital! Hayley now weighs 3.51 kg, so not quite 200g over her birth weight. The midwife was happy with that, considering she has put on about 100g over the weekend. little fatty!! We have had to up her feeds as she seemed to always be hungry, particularly at night and won't settle.
Saturday night she slept beautifully but then we paid for it last night..lol. I feel like we're starting to get into some form of routine, although I still need to fit in some daytime naps...the time just seems to fly and before I know it it's time for her next feed again.
She won't b'feed...have tried a few times and she just doesn't open her mouth wide enough or poke her tongue out enough then gets upset that it's not working so all she does is cry and make everything worse...nothing worse than a screaming baby who is trying to feed but won't/can't and I have milk dripping everywhere! Makes for a soggy mess...so I think I'll just give up on trying to b'feed and just express as much as I can for her and top up with formula as required.

SS_storm - I had massive problems with bfing DD1 due to a tied tongue and her not being able to open her mouth wide enough to latch. Hugs sweets, I know how stressful it can be.
Gald to hear all the bubs are putting on weight.
I took Eva to the doctors today and she is back to birth weight. I am happy with that and so is the doctor. Eva is a dream through out the day but she is still a little unsettled during the early hours of the morning and late at night. I have taken to putting her in bed with me just so I can get some sleep. Her feed times are getting shorter thankfully, but she still likes to cluster feed from time to time. We had a really bad windy, spewy and pooey day but that seems to have passed thankfully.
SS - we also had problems with a tounge tie - grace could suck but not get her mouth on enough or tounge out to get really big sucks. But the paed checked it and said it would fix itself eventually - but it wasn't helping the BFing - so he snipped it! Grace didn't even flinch when he did it and then I put her back on the breast straight away and immediately there was a huge difference in her feeding...

it is quiet in here - hope everyone is doing well and just enjoying their precious bundles.
i am good - must admit it is very hard for me with the 2 of them (even though DS1 is at creche) with a combination of guilt (never enough time for anyone), fatigue and probably hormones....
i am coping ok but it is more just a big adjustment atm. i think dh and i are pretty snappy at each other - we both prob feel we are taking on the burden iykwim.
not sure if i told you all we named the baby Jacob. he is doing really well - had a mach nirse visit on monday and he had put on 700g in 10 days since he came home, so she was v happy with that (as was i!). he is on the small side though (25th perc, unusual for me my DS1 was bigger) but in proportion so thats ok. she said somethying about a small fontanelle which i need to follow up with the paed at the 6 wk check up - she said it is rare for it to be a prob but worth checking it out. we had jacob's naming on sunday - had about 100 ppl at our house... tiring but so amazing he was surrounded by so much love and good wishes.
Bekz - glad the feeding is going better now the tongue tie is fixed... how are you coping with your 3 princesses?
SS - how are you going now?
I wonder how debbee is - havent heard from her in a bit!

Grace was weighed yesterday and has reached birth weight at last, and has grown 4 cm in a week! She is still feeding and sleeping well so no complaints over here. Taking her to work today to show her off - its lovely getting comments that she looks like me!

Update on Sophie:
Went to Dr. yesterday dor her 2 week appt. She now weighs 5 lbs and 15 oz and is 19.5 inches tall. We decided to go off of the cloth diapers as Sophie has had a bad rash with them. So we are now using Huggies organic hypoallergenic diapers. Her hair color is three different colors in three different spots so we are still unsure of her hair color. I have red hair and DF has brown. Plus the sthird spot is BLONDE! Ver y confused. lol
AFM- Finally starting to feel like I am getting a hang of this being a mom thing and I like it. Sophie still has trouble with getting her days and nights mixed up and we hope that resolves on its own.
Jessica - Sophie's hair sounds gorgeous. I wonder what colour it will end up being.
ryatha - 4cm in a week, wow, go Grace! I bet all your work colleagues were clucky when you went to visit. Re the dummy, Amelia has only taken to it for two nights and it doesn't stay in for long and it hasn't made a difference to her feeding.
preagainpan - I have been hanging out to know what you called your little man. Jacob is a lovely name. It really is an adjustment and I know what you are saying about being snappy. DH and I have been a bit snappy because we are tired. We have DD1 in childcare two days a week but have just asked if we can put her in another day a week at least for a couple of months until Amelia is in some kind of routine. Monday was my first day by myself with the two of them and it wasn't as bad as I thought considering DD1 always wants to be on the move and play. When DD2 is feeding that is when it gets a bit crazy.
ss_storm - I find it hard to nap in the day and like you say, time goes too quickly before the next feed. Isn't it awful when you are leaking and bub won't attach. That's great that you will express for Hayley.
Blayne - I can't believe Amiteal is 4 weeks already! Where did that time go? I love having a small baby - well Amelia is over 4kg now but so small compared to her sister LOL. Amiteal sounds like she is doing great.
Bek - I wish I could put Amelia in bed with me but Monique is still in there :rolleyes: We have shorter feeds here too which is nice. I can't stay awake with the long feeds.
Good news on all the weight gains. If I was to express some milk to keep as backup in the freezer, is the best time to express after a feed? How much do you feed them in the bottle? I have completely forgotten.
tinsel - i have a fact sheet on expressing from the ABA but i can't seem to find it in the disaster zone that my house has become! i'm sure it said to express on the same side you last fed from about 30 minutes after a feed...i think!
cat - it must have been great to take grace to work!
preagainpan - i'm not sure how you manage with 2! i have said about 50 times to DP that i don't know how anyone copes with a newborn plus other children! i'm not sure where my days go at the moment!

corey is still going well. he was getting really bad wind & wanting to feed (but really comfort suck i think) every 30 minutes or so...so we got him some wind drops & the difference has been amazing. he's gone from being one very over-tired baby who just wouldn't sleep to a contented baby who is feeding every 1.5-2 hrs during the day and every 2.5-3hrs overnight. ahhhhhh! i almost felt bad getting the drops but then just about everyone i've spoken to has used them for their babies!
Sloane - I know the feeling!! Get up in the morning and all of a sudden it's 5pm and I'm wondering what to have for dinner...lol. Feeding is going ok, I'm not really making any more milk though, only getting about 80ml from both at each session...it's sort of enough for now but by the end of the week she should be getting about 120ml so not sure what I'll do...it's very time consuming expressing all the time, the only thing keeping me going is we paid for the pump so I better get good use out of it! and all the "goodies" that are in breast milk for her...she probably needs as many of them as she can get.
Had our last midwife visit the other day and were officially discharged from hospital. She weighed 3.51kg so was heavier than her birthweight. Have a home visit from one of the early childhood nurses next Friday.
Better go...our dog is peeking through the window at me, I think he wants his breakfast...feel sorry for him he's been very neglected lately...and has taken to jumping up and putting his paws on the windowsill so he can see through the window into the loungeroom, where I spend most of my days..i think he's feeling a bit unloved :(

it sounds like we are all getting into the swing of things with our little ones... Jacob is still going really well. he is a champion feeder though - prob every 90 mins - 2 hrs in the day and then every 2-3 hrs overnight at the moment... he seems to poo at every feed which I know is normal but it makes for a LOT of nappy chgs - seems to havea knack of doing it when i have just chgd him!
sloane - dont feel guilty re the wind drops. i havent used myself yet but i know they can really help others and it sounds like it is just what corey needs!
it was my bday yest and had a great day. dh and i went to a movie with jacob and then out for a yummy japanese lunch. then picked ds1 up from creche early and went out for afternoon tea. was lovely! my mum is in town this sun so we are going out for high tea on sun - lucky me!

Just letting you all know that Deb is fine. I pmed her on FB and she is getting used to life as a mum.
I am having one of those poor me days. Miss E wants to feed constantly and is then very unsettled due to wind. I think I need to contact the ABA or some thing as I am not sure if this constant feeding is ok. Maybe I am missing her cues and she is not hungry but windy or tired..who knows. I have also had Miss L sick with fevers as well and a DH who just wants to stick Miss E on formula because he thinks I am not producing enought milk. Sorry for the rant. I am just a bit tired and getting sick
ss_storm - all the expressing must be hard work. you're doing a fab job to stick with it! i know what you mean about all the goodness in the milk - that's what keeps me going as well!
bek - the wind is a killer! we had one of those days on tuesday - corey just kept wanting to feed constantly. but i figured it might be compounding the problem if he just fed again & again & so soon after the one before. i ended up getting drops & he's been so much happier - he actually seemed to be in real pain before, iykwim? i hope the ABA can help - i called them a couple of weeks ago when i was having trouble with the feeding & they were good. mostly just for the reassurance factor that everything was okay & i was doing the right thing etc.

I'm a bit slow to join this thread, but the past couple of weeks have been a bit foggy! Nothing really prepares you for sleep deprivation does it??
Our little 'Annie Jayde' arrived by emergency C section on the 4th of July at 9:54am (11 days early!)
She weighed 6lbs 11oz or 3.02kg and 50cm long.
She's BF like a champion and appears to be steadily putting on weight, which is great. She is such an efficient feeder - feeds can be over within 10 minutes... which caused me great concern in the early days - was she getting enough? But I was reassured with our first baby clinic (last Thurs), as she'd put on 450g since birth. So she's obviously getting what she needs!! Miss Piggy! :) And I have tbh, 10 mins is highly desirable for night time feeds! So I'm not complaining!
I'm loving getting to know her & being a first time Mum, but struggling with the lack of sleep... (I'm sure you can all relate!) There are just times when I just feel so exhausted... and I'm a bit impatient to heal from this darned c section - but I know that's going to take quite a bit more time! (Unfortunately patience is not my forte)
DH has been amazing... such a doting Daddy. He really has suprised me. He just loves her sooooo much. It's wonderful & makes my life so much easier.
Anyway ladies, I think I should try & get some sleep whilst my little angel sleeps, because she'll be looking for food in those 'wee hours' of the morning... yawn!
I really hope to catch up properly with you all over the coming days/weeks. It's so lovely to see so many of you from the pregnancy forum for 1st-15th July... and some new faces too!!

I havent been able to really have a chance to get online much, but Noah is soundly asleep atm so thought I would say hi and post an update while I can.
We have had the longest horrible week :crying:
Been having huge issues with bf.. Just when I think things are worked out something else seems to go wrong. In hospital we had attachment issues and I ended up grazed, blistered, bleeding nipples.. and cause I have flat nipples we were using a nipple shield.
The LCN has helped so much, and we have managed to get off the nipple shield and straight onto the boob. I was (sometime still am, more out of frustration rather than pain now) ending up in tears from the pain at every feed. I ended up with blocked ducts in left boob - and from the either that or the grazing I now have mastitis and am on ab.
Luckily I have access to a free lactation clinic, so far I have spent 4 full days at lactation clinic and will probably go back again next week as well. I honestly dont know how on earth I would have managed without help from the LC and think I would have well and truely given up buy now on bf. Now he is just refusing the left boob all together. :wall:
On the up side Noah is doing great guns, he is very healthy and has puts on tons on weight (he is getting plenty of food...just through a lot of pain!) and has changed so much already. He is generally sleeping pretty well 3-4 blocks most of the time during the night.. and shorter sleeps during the day.
Well that turned in to a longer than planned post.

i think i must be crazy i told my eldest daughter she could have a bday party she turned 5 yesterday and is having a party today,. ill have my 4 kids ages 2, 3, 5 and anton plus 6 other kids thank goodness both sets of grandparent are coming to help as the kids dad is working today.
anton is doing ok is only 50 grams below is birth weight he has a cold at the min and wasnt feeding very well yesterday feedinging much better today. well so far anyway

Glad to hear that everyone seems to be getting into the swing of things. Thought I would drop by and fill you in on how our latest MCHN visit went on Thursday. I took everyone's advice and switched the appointment so that I could see a different nurse to last time. Little Ash is still putting on about 20 grams a day and is now only about 70 grams away from his birth weight. The nurse didn't seem at all worried about this as he had grown a whopping 5cm in his first couple of weeks. She seemed to think that all the growing was why he hadn't been putting on as much weight as the averages look for. So all in all I left feeling reasonably happy.
As a first time mum I can't help but be a little concerned by his weight gain, but he has very wet heavy nappies with every feed, lots of poos, is having 8 feeds a day and is very alert, so based on all of those signs it seems he is getting enough food.
We are still struggling a bit with the attachment however. Even after seeing the LC who told us we were attaching perfectly earlier this week both my nipples ended up horribly cracked and bleeding so I decided to go back to the nipple shield. I've been using it ever since and I must admit I am considering sticking with it for awhile longer. It takes the stress and anxiety out of feeding for both of us which I think can only be a good thing. Also I can't help but wonder if because of my inverted nipples it may not be possible for him to feed directly from the breast without doing damage...
Anyway, sending you all lots of sleep vibes... I'm sure we all need them xoxo

Glad to see everyone is coping ok with nights and seems most babies are gaining weight and are happy...
Blake is now 3.840kg (8lb8oz) 53.5cm long and 37cmHC
I noticed a few of you ladies are having problems with wind pain....BLake is the king of wind pain....i try to avoid all food that is considered a no no...but he still has alot of 'wind' he generally burps after every feed and 'farts' away quite happily until night time...he seems to have trouble getting it out...and cause him to stay awake not crying or screaming in pain but discomfort....Ive gone to the chemist and hes using "Infants Friend" and i find that to be great....he has about 1/2ml - 1ml before and after feeds and he burps and farts alot better....they say breast feed babies shouldnt have wind pain etc but i beg to differ.....he also has silent reflux and we are managing that ok so far....i think Blake went through a 'growth spurt' this week he was feeding more and sadly needing more formula at night after having me....my supply is fine during the day but seems to go to nothing after 12am...he generally goes to sleep for the night after 8.30pm...has a 40ml top up and wakes about 2am ...goes back to sleep but wakes again at 5am and stays up...when his wind pain starts again....but its getting better.
Ive noticed that Blake is 'cooing' more and smiling more too.....hes quite strong in his neck and trys to hold the head up to look around....i call him my little 'turtle' as he always turns his nose up to the sky lol
His sisters love him dearly always asking to hold him and they help in the mornings so i can get dressed or have a shower...we love going shopping and he adjusts well to my hectic routine...
Everyone else noticing the same milestones as BLake? Cant belive our babies are here and sadly they are growing up way too fast...

chrissy - i have been using the 'turtle' name as well!!it's almost like he's doing push ups sometimes :lol: i have also noticed corey making some different noises in the last couple of days :D
Yes! Ash has become a little 'turtle' in the last three or four days as well. We've also had a couple of little talking noises pop out which have delighted us as much as him. It's so wonderful watching them grow and develop isn't it :clap:
We're getting the same thing with Grace's head movements. She also seems to 'mutter' around her dummy and chats away to my bb while she is feeding - it is very cute! She makes eye contact and we get mini smiles as well as poking her tonge out when we poke ours out to her.

right now im stuggling with the 4 kids even with ex still staying some days and when he does go home he does take 1 or 2 of the older kids. i guess ive been trying to be super mum thinking i can do everything on my own when i cant i dont like asking for help but i know if i dont im going to just go crazy. i guess it doesnt help that it is almost the 1st annervirsary of loosing my angel baby im finding that real hard to deal with but i then think if i didnt loose that baby then i wouldnt have Anton as i fell preg 4 weeks afterwards.
Hugs Jesse - I am finding life difficult with only 3 at home and my DH is here full time. Anniversary of an angel bub is always hard ...(((hugs)) I have one coming up in September.
Chrissy - My babies all had wind and all were breastfeed for a short amount of time. What foods are you avoiding? Infants Friend has worked here too, plus I find giving bub a back rub before a feed and after really works too.
I try not to have cauliflower, broccoli, corn,onions and cabbage as these all give my babies more wind pain....but i believe everyone is different...have you heard the same about these foods?:
I try to have 2 litres of water a day and i drink about 600mls at night...but Blake seems to be having more formula at night than last week...he is definately going through a growth spurt...he just seems heavier every time i feed him lol
And Jess...a hug babe......I light a candle for my first son who i lost 15yrs ago...i was 19w....he and my 13th daughters twin all had the same due date...I believe in my heart that Blake is here now as some spirit from them as he had a edd 2 days earlier....
Hi Ladies - I'm a bit slow - but thought it was about time I joined my "baby buddies"
I have another "Blake" - Blake Mark - born 11.32am 15/7/09 8lb1oz/3660g, 50.5cm and 37cm head circ.
Came home from hossy last Sunday - so have been home a week - where the time has gone I have NO IDEA. I have my DH home for another week, but am really scared about how i'll cope when he goes back to work. He commutes to the city and is gone from 7am to 7.30pm - eek!
Blake is doing really well (me not so much) he sleeps anywhere from 20mins to 5 hours and day and night seem to have no meaning. He is fully BF and this is the part that is actually going well - I have HEAPS of milk and Blake is taking to feeding well. He took a while to poo (after his mec poos is hosp) - but that is sorted now and he poos lots!
We had our MCHN home visit which was really positive - she was lovely and I got to talk lots about my anxiety levels (which are very high atm) she was reassuring and supportive and I feel like I have support from her. Blake is above his birth weight already and seems to be a normal healthy little boy.
Well thats our update. I will try to keep up with personals in future. Congrats to all the new mums and sending sleepy vibes out to all those little babies!

Hugs to you all who have lost loved ones. Reading some threads here reasserts how blessed we are to have Ryan arrive with little dramas, in good health (abeit a slight jaundice). He's also sleeping and eating well which is super because we would have been driven mad with our other 2 1/2 y.o son constantly seeking attention too.
Been vomited on a few times but have missed the poo and pee which Ryan reserved for mum. Who'd thought vomit, poo, and pee could be so cute :)
Yeah another little Blake...my Blake is exactly 1 month older...so cool....glad he is doing well...and i wouldnt worry about the sleep routine just yet....mine didnt have one until a week ago...hes now gone back to every 4.5hrs at night but maintains his 3 hourly feeds during the day....welcome to the group too:
Welcome proud dad lol Glad everything is going well for your family...yes it can be hard with a toddler under your feet.... i have a 3yr old....well ive managed not to peed on or pooed on but the vomits hes done a few of those on me.....lol:

nice to 'meet' all the newbies and yay that jasp will soon be joining us too - i cant believe i missed her birth announcement and was thinking today was her big day!
it sounds like we are all doing well with the business and ups and downs of having a newborn. i must say i had forgotten lots of things and am less sure of myself than i thought i would be 2nd time around. jacob has a cold at the moment so i am using saline in his nose which is helping a lot. he did a big vomit yesterday and i freaked out about it just as i did when it forst ever happened with Noah - and they told me i would be so much more 'relaxed' this time LOL! i think i may also get some infants friend, every few days he seems to get wind pain and maybe this would help us too.
are any of you having 'arsenic' hour? i find J is a little unsettled b/n about 6 and 8pm, not easy as this is bedlam in our house trying to get N bathed and into bed etc etc. this bedlam prob ads to it all i guess... i fin he wonmt settle then, will try using my sling and see how that goes. it has been ok so far but i have had dh home not sure how gettingN from creche and doing dinner and night time unwind will go by myself! Dh goes back to work next week... adjustment time again! we are going away this weekend, it is my best friend's twins 1st bday party in sydney so that will be another challenge to tick off the list.
It sounds like all the bubs are starting to really pile on the weight - i cant believe how much J has changed. Miss E so glad the new nurse was more reassuring, that is how it shouldbe i think and it sounds like things are going well for you. i think i wilk get J weighed again on monday. i am a bit worried as he is a super fast feeder and often takes just 1 side.. i hope he is getting enough (has been worse with the cold as i think his blocked nose interferes) - he has good 'output' and had put on heaps of weight in his first 10 days home so i guess it is ok but it certainly isnt the long feeds i was used to last time so i cant help but worry. i know i have HEAPS ofmilk and apretty quick let down... he also favours one side and i find it hard to attach him on the other... so i want to get him weighed to reassure myself he is still gaining and also maybe spk to the nurse about attachment on that side.
Anyway sorry this has beena bit selfish - will try to be a better buddy with personals soon... but thought i would just check in and say a big hello to everyone. i ofetn think of you all when i am up feeding at 3am and wonder who else is out there doing the same thing!
