Thanks for the advice re the nappies girls, so far we haven't had another one since I posted so I'm hoping it was just a couple of days of big poos! If we keep getting though I think I will have to try the next size up...
Jetta, when I give Ash EBM I give him about 140ml, but only because he cries if he gets any less, but he is a guzzle guts, probably why he spews so much, mind you he usually doesn't spew as much after a bottle... I'd give Jasp's advice a go, but I tend to think that Sam will let you know when he wants more, Ash certainly did!
I wouldn't worry too much Ryatha, I'm sure Grace will get back on track with the sleeping soon. I find Ash is a bit like that, we'll get one really long night sleep, but then he'll revert back for a couple of days before doing it again, it's like he's working up to being able to do it all the time. But last night we did go 8 hours between feeds and the night before he went 7, so maybe he is getting there... who knows, I'm sure tonight will be another story...
Glad to hear your mothers group went well Sarah, I'm also really enjoying mine and finding that we are getting some really good advice. The first one or two were a little bland, but this week it was on what to do if your baby gets sick and I found the info fantastic! Next week the MCHN who runs it is away so we are going to meet up for a coffee instead, hopefully we'll be able to get to know each other a bit better...
AFM we're tracking along pretty well. I took Ash down the beach for the first time this week. The weather has been so nice here that I have been taking advantage of the opportunity to get out and have a good walk. Anyway, one day when I got down there he was still awake, so I got him out of the pram a laid him on the sand. He really seemed to like being out in the fresh air (this really was his first experience of the outdoors) but was blinded by the sun. So this morning DH and I went and bought him the cutest pair of sunglasses and and a sun hat. Of course the weather turned to crap so we didn't get to take him out, but hopefully we'll get a chance tomorrow. I also just left Ash with DH for the first time since he was born. I decided that it was time to treat myself to a manicure and pedicure which was absolutely lovely, but I did find it a bit hard leaving the little man behind... Silly I know...
-
Miss Excited - well done on getting out! That must have been great! Good on you, it is hard leaving them. I have only managed going to the local shops and doing some grocery shopping!! I have had to leave him with my mum and I send her text messages frequently! Thanks for the advice on the EBM and feeding. I have been giving around 100-125mls so I think that is about right! I hope it stops spewing up soon! I had a friend who gave me her baby bjorn as she said her first child just spewed all the time so they never used it! I must invest in some sun glasses too, he hates the sun. Got him a cute hat the other day though!
Jasp - thanks heaps for the advice on the EBM. That is a great help and certainly gives me a good gauge on what I should give him! I agree, you have no idea what they get when you are feeding off the breast. You are a legend with the expressing. I think you are doing great, and so fantastic that you are sticking at trying - you cant say you didn't try and you should be really proud of yourself.
Ryatha - Sam has been a bit the same, usually goes from 10pm til 4/5am but last two nights has woken at 2.30am again and then again at 5am! Very annoying! I thought it might be because he was unwrapping himself but I tried one of those wraps with the velcro and he still woke up!! Must be a stage!
Sloane- glad to hear the night sleeps are improving. I feel so lucky that from day 1 Sam always sleeps well at night.
Jess- Sam has been feeding a bit randomly lately and I wondered if he was having a growth spurt as well. Hope you got some housework done. I had husband at home today so was great getting stuff done around the house.
AFM - As mentioned Sam waking again at 2am again but hopefully that won't last for much longer! I feed him at 10pm to try to keep him going through til at least 6am but so far only making it til 4am. We will see. Also the last 3 baths he has had, after he gets out of the bath he goes absoltely balistic. We have never heard him cry like that, to the point he is actually hesterical and I have to give him a top up just to calm him down. he didn't even cry like that when he was born! I don't know whether it just doesn't want to get out or what the story is. My husband use to love bath time as he gave him a massage afterwards and not even that settles him. It is a shame because in the evning that was their bonding time and now we are scared of giving him a bath!! Hopefully it is just a stage but wondered if anyone else is doing that??
Settled himself to sleep 2 sleeps today, last week was terrible he wouldn't settle at all and was napping for an hour, had two days of only 2 hours the whole day and by evening he was a mess. hopefully this week is better!!
Very smoky today as they are backburning somewhere! be good if somehow we could put some pictures up, it would be nice to know what you all look like! Enjoy the sunshine!

Jetta if you're on facebook look up the group 'BB Belly Buddies due July 1st to 15th 2009'. A few of us are on it and you can then do friend requests from there. It's nice to actually be able to put faces to the names of mums and bubs :D
-
well i got anton settled a bit well long enough to tidy kitchen dinning n lounge i even got the floors swept n vac i just have to cleaned the 2 kids bedrooms but im hoping their dad will take the 3 older ones for a night or 2

it seems like forever since I've been online - so much to catch up on, and no chance of me being able to do personals!
We've been doing lots of rearranging - moving furniture around into different rooms, a bit of painting etc, so the computer has been disconnected for a while...
We're going well. DH's sister had her first bubba last Friday - a little boy cousin for my little darling! Very exciting.
Mothers' group is going well - got one this arvo. The only thing is that Zac doesn't sleep while we're there and then gets over tired... and lately (just when I was getting the hang of putting him down when he'd been up for an hour and a half, he seems to be stretching his awake time to two hours! aargh. I don't think it's helped that my script for motilium had run out. The Dr suggested I try going without to see if it made a difference - and it did, unfortunately. Got a new script, and we seem to be back to where we were again. He's still getting about 2/3 of his feed from formula, but that's ok. :-)
My DH went away for two nights last week too - I was a bit freaked out, but it went fine. I think it's more the knowledge that someone is there to help if you need it? However, when he came back he said he would be going away again in about 6 weeks - for TWO weeks! We're planning on going with him this time! ;-)
re nappies - Zac has been in the infant Huggies since he got to just over 4kg. There have been some poos which have definitely been borderline on the containment side of things... my problem is more that I'm a little too responsive to a smelly nappy, so most of the time it's me doing the 'fielding' and not the nappy
thanks for the word about facebook group - will look it up!
hope everyone is doing well. It's a beautiful day here in melbourne

Hi Ladies,
Sorry to have been MIA.
We have been having a rough run of it and I have been burying my head in the sand and not wanting to admit it.
I really haven't been coping...
Teaghan has sensitive skin issues and for the last 9 weeks we have been battling dry, itchy and irrating skin rashes and eczema. Everything the doctors said to use made it all so much worse. Olive oil helped for about 48 hrs but even that wasn't enough. I finally tried Moogoo - omg, my saviour! It has cleared up her skin and you wouldn't even know she had had issues!!! Thank god...
But it seems as soon as I sort one problem out another arises.
We have been dealing with a wonder week for 3 weeks now! The MCHN said they can do it when they have a big developement spurt. Yay, she wouldn't have more than 1 to 2 thirds of her bottle and would be hungry 2 hrs later. She stopped sleeping through the night as well. So we tried changing her formula and her bottles - we were using Mam ultivent but now were using the closer to nature range. Finally she is drinking and feeding better and going longer between bottles and is back to having her last bottle at 11pm and lasting till 6am... And it was both the formula and bottles. We tried both together and she was happy. Gave new formula in old bottle and wouldn't drink it. Gave old formula in new bottle and wouldn't drink it. But new formula and new bottles = success!! Phewww!
I have also spent the last 9 weeks doing the single mum thing because DF has been suffering depression and hasn't helped at all. I think in 11 weeks he has fed Teaghan 2 times and changed her nappy 3 times. We had a big talk Friday night and this weekend he has been so much better - I just hope it lasts... Sigh...
Sorry to offload on you all but I really don't have anywhere else to go...
-
Sorry I don't have time to post...MissBec Hugs darl sounds like your been through alot

Hi Ladies -
I've been a lurker and have found the time to jump in and say Hi ! I've been in the LTTC forum for a while and our IVF blessing, Nate, was born on July 8th.
Sorry for not getting all the personals done but I do empathize with MisBec as we are going through the same thing with Nate. The last 2 weeks have been a bit confusing with Nate going from sleeping and settling like a champ to not sleeping and being very difficult to settle. I have no idea what is going on but he had a big growth spurt about 10 days ago and has just not been himself.
Has anyone else had this kind of regression around 10 - 11 weeks and did things get better or back to what they were before?
Also, what is a 'wonder' week?
Look forward to getting to know everyone.
Take care,
LNB

hi everyone
dont have alot of time to post but just wanted to gove missbec a hug - i was wondering where you were. sounds like a tough time - hope it improves soon. will write more tomorrow honey.
Welcome LNB - and congrats on Nate! looking fwd to getting to know you.
-
Thanks girls...
LNB wonder weeks are when our babies go through development spurts...
-
LNB - welcome! Great to have a new member to the forum! Congrats on your baby Nate! Unfortunately I cannot offer any advice at present. Sam had a rough week last week but that was just not wanting to sleep as much and being a bit out of whack but nothing major. Perhaps in about a weeks time I will be asking you for advice though!
Missbec - Sorry to hear about all the problems. Skin issues must be so frustrating and it must be so hard trying so many different things and nothing helping and your poor little one suffering. I can't believe the bottle and formula either! I can't believe you tried swapping bottles etc. You must be pretty patient. It is so hard sometimes when nothing seems to be going right to keep your cool. I am glad that if you feel there is no one to talk to that you can come here and off load, everyone needs that. I hope things stay good with DF (I have no idea what that stands for by the way) and that the chat helped. I have a great husband who helps out a lot but I know when you have been changing nappies all day, settling to sleep, pacifying crying all day by 5pm you are tired and when he won't settle and is crying it is nice to have someone just to give you even 5 minutes of time out just to get your head together again. I hope things get better...
Lovelycate - good to see you back! Glad things are going well. I find that Sam is hard to settle when we go anywhere!! He is only staying awake for max 1 hour at present so by the time you feed and get out the door he should be asleep!! Hard when you have to go places and same thing, he gets really over tired sometimes and misses whole sleeps. I just hope he starts staying awake a bit longer soon so that helps a bit. 6 weeks is ages to be on your own, so I hope everything goes well! You will be fine I am sure!
Jess - glad to see you got the house work done! I go through half the house vacuuming today!!
AFM, Sam is doing well and settling to sleep pretty well. He has done only 6 feeds today instead of 7 and slept a lot so here is hoping that tonight he doesn't wake earlier!! He is going 10pm - 3.30am roughly at the moment. He is still only awake for a max of 1 hour or less, I see people saying they have babies awake for 1 1/2 to 2 hours! I would love that, I love play time and I hate putting him to bed all the time, but I should probably enjoy it while it last right!! Sam is screaming still after bath time, worked out I think it is just the difference in the temp as once in his clothes again he calmed down. Husband is upset that we are skipping massage at the moment as he loved that bonding time but Sam is too unhappy! Anyway, hope everyone is well and hope to hear more news soon! :D
-
missbec - you poor thing! Sometimes I think it's worse having somebody around who doesn't do anything than having nobody at all. Especially if that person also needs some looking after. Feel free to pm me if you want to have more of a vent at any time - that's what we're here for!
LNB - welcome to you and congrats on Nate. Doesn't it seem like you just get the hang of how things 'work' and then they go and change the rules on you?
Jetta - we are planning to go away with DH next time as he will be in Wellington and our family is in Christchurch, so it should be good, although the idea of flying with a baby is a bit intimidating... Definitely enjoy the sleeping while you can - Zac is one of those who will stay up easily for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, but then only sleeps for 45 mins max - although the last couple of days he has decided to just 'cat nap' - 10-20 mins
Whereabouts do you bath Sam? I'm still lugging the baby bath into the nursery and I turn the heat up in there about half an hour or so beforehand. The other thing I do is to wrap the towel and his clothes around a hot water bottle. They do seem to drop temp very quickly...
AFM - ended up missing mothers' group yesterday as Zac slept a bit late and then when we got in the car found that DH had left it with no petrol... since Zac had been a bit unsettled all day, decided to just go for a bit of a drive and give group a miss...
-
hi all welcome to any new people. Anton has had a few bad days saturday wasnt happy with just bm tried formula to top him off stiill happy went to sleep round 5am sunday morn i was up with the older 3 round 7.30am couldnt settle him sunday spoke to my ex and later on my neighbour about the last 2 night yesterday they both suggested watered down farax gave it a try 1 very happy 10 week old

Hi Everyone,
Welcome LNB - My bub was born on the 9th of July, so very close to your little man Nate. Eva had a couple of weeks of sleeping longer periods at night but she has regressed back to waking up for 2 feeds and is not going back down for at least 1 hour. A wonder week is a period of growth and development. Often this week sees bub regress with sleep, become unsettled or fussy and need feeding more or generally change their normal patterns. After the period is over bub generally settles back to norm and you'll notice bub has grown or learnt a new skill.
Hugs to all

hey everyone. sorry havent been around much lately, my laptop has decided to die so have to wait for some money to buy a new one. am using df's computer, but dont get a chance to kick him off it very often! Lol. Hayley is going well. She is becoming very noisy! Gurgling and cooing lots and sometimes almost yelling, but she loves it! Except for last night she has slept through the last 4 nights in a row, although i think that had a lot to do with the fact we were in Sydney - and I think she was tired from the drive up on Friday, then visiting heaps of people and my SIL's 21st party on Saturday, then driving home on Sunday. She screamed most of the way from Gundagai to home, i think she was just so sick of being in the car. Last night she woke at 2 for a feed, was hoping she had gotten into a routine of sleeping through, but 4 nights in a row is pretty good! She is asleep now and has been for a couple of hours, one of her longest day sleeps in a while. She will probably wake up soon though.
we havent joined a mothers group yet...i do want to but am quite a shy person so am pretty nervous/anxious about meeting new people, and i guess worried about how they will react...we were the youngest couple at our ante natal classes by at least 5 or 6 years, so i doubt it will be any different at a mothers group...so i want to go for Hayley's sake, especially as she gets older, but then I'm not the most social person and find it hard to meet new people and make new friends. guess i will just have to dig up some courage and go find one to join!
anyway better go and try and get some stuff done before she wakes. hope all your bubs are going well, and welcome LNB!
-
SS - I think the MACH nurses organise the mother's groups... well they do here anyway... I think you will enjoy it and get a lot out of it and people will be v open to you. People join them bc they want to meet other people with young babies - so they will be open to making friends with you. Get the courage up and go - I promise you wont regret it and if they arent v nice people you can always give it a miss after a couple of sessions. i enjoyed mine a lot with Noah and made one of my best friends out of it... I am disappointed I dont get one this time around!
That is great that you got those few nights of miss H sleeping through - that must have been good for you!!! J hasnt slept thru at all yet, he wakes for at least 2 feeds each night and sometimes more. I dont mind though, so far he is a lot easier than N ever was!
Jess - wow on the solids working.. are you going to intro solids from now? I hope Anton contnues to be settled for you. I think of you often, dont know how you manage all your 4 kids on your own!
Hi to everyone else!
All is well here. Poor J still has his cold but he is a lot better, i think it is just a seasonal thing and soon it will pass as the weather improves. he is so responsive now which is great - so many big smiles and coos. he loves when i sing to him (he will get over that i am sure LOL) and he adores Noah. it is beautoful to see how they become little people with expressions etc. I am really enjoying him and having the time off work with him. It was hard going when DH was away and he has 2 more trips in Oct... grrrrrrrrrrrrr!
I went to the Mach nurse on monday to have him weighed - he is v close to 6 kg now (5.9something) and 60cm. his head has grown but his fontanelle is still v small so she wants me to go to the gp. it is a bit scary if i closes over... the flat spot looks a bit better whcih is great.
better go, he is looking at me longingly for a feed... hope all is well.
-
Just had to share - we had a giggle this afternoon!! Was so funny DF & I couldnt stop laughing..had tears rolling down my face! Lol. We took Hayley outside to say hello to the dog. He was just sitting there and she was looking at him when all of a sudden she let out a burst of laughter. It was hilarious! She wouldn't do it again though, as much as we were trying to get her to laugh again. It was so cute!
-
ss - how gorgeous! Zac hasn't really laughed yet, although he sort of chuckles/giggles now and then which is very cute (of course :-) ) Don't you wish that you could just re-play the moment over and over??
I agree with preagainpan re the mothers' group thing - go for it! Whoever organises the groups may be able to give you some sort of feeling for the other mothers who will be involved. A friend of mine opted to join a group in a nearby suburb instead of the one she lives in as she felt that the people in her area were all very snobby and she didn't want that sort of thing  The group I'm in has a huge age range - to be honest it's hard to tell how old you are when you're not getting enough sleep anyway, but there are definitely some women in their early twenties, plus some old hags like myself ;) I find it hard to meet new people, but everybody is the same. They're all first time mums, so all in the same boat and keen to share their experiences with others. (gawd, I sound like an evangelist for the cause don't I?!)
jesscook - my god! Anton is just growing up too fast! At least you've found something which seems to settle him down - good work all round!
hugs to all :-)
-
hi all thanks for the encouragement it is a straggle with the 4 most of the time but ive had a bit of a break this week the 2 older ones have been with their dad most of the time.

Hi Ladies -
Thanks so much for the welcomes and advice on the wonder weeks. I read the website information on wonder weeks and it described exactly what we were going through. We're now in the sunny time and Nate is so much happier.
Break through for us has been he has skipped his 3 AM feed for the last 2 nights. He is feeding (a cluster feed) at around 6pm, 12pm and 6AM. I realised this morning that I miss the 3AM feed !!
There is nothing like advice from experienced mothers, I talked to our MCHN nurse about the changes in the last week or so and she did not have anywhere near as much positive information as the ladies in this group. So glad this forum exists.
Hope everyone's bubs are doing well and enjoying sunny days !
Take care,
LNB
-
hi & welcome LNB (sorry i'm a bit late!). sounds like nate is going great guns with the sleeping - it's so nice when their sleep improves or they drop a feed!
cate - love the picture of zac in your sig, he's gorgeous!
ss_storm - so exciting when they do something new!! i hope hayley gives you lots more laughs soon!
preagainpan!!!!! - we're still on at least two feeds a night here too, although i do think it's improving (just in time for us to get complacent before the 4mth crazy time, hey?!). good to hear that J is feeling a bit better...do you have to go back to work soon or do you get to keep enjoying some time at home?
miss bec - sorry to hear that things have been rough & that Teaghan as had skin problems. the moogoo is fab though, isn't it? how have things been this week? please vent away any time...that's what we're here for!
jetta - how have bath times been this week?
saw the nurse this week & corey is now 7.2kg...omg he almost weighs the same as his 6mth old cousin!! she did say how he's not carrying excess weight though & it just looks like he might be a tall/big boy! he'll probably be taller than me before he starts school
we have our second mother's group this afternoon. i think i was so excited last week that corey slept for almost the whole time & was a little angel that i didn't really think about whether i sort of fit in to the group & what i think of it. i want to stick it out though because it would be lovely for corey to have some friends his own age from such a young age...does that make sense?
-
Eeek I don't think i can do personals for all those posts! Have just come back from a few days away, so haven't been on for a bit.
Missbec, big hugs  offload as much as you need! As Sloane & Cate said, it's what we're here for :) Just remember it won't always be like this. The best advice my mother ever gave me was...everything changes ;)
LNB welcome :) and congrats on the arrival of Nate! Glad to hear things are settling down.
There IS great advice here, and fantastic support, I think the reason it is so good is that we aren't 'professionals' , just other mums doing the same thing, and there are so many of us there is bound to be someone who is/ has been in a similar spot. Not to mention how good it is to get on & be able to have a vent, and get  lol. in fact I am so fond of these ladies I snuck into this thread, I don't really belong here - Arlea was too late
Pre - you changed your name! & love the avvy ;) lucky I spotted your avvy before I went away, it took me a minute to work out who the 'new person' was lol. That's just me being a bit sleep deprived & slow lol....
AFM, we have just come back from 3 days at mum's, my sister is due to have her first baby any day, she is very tired & over it... hmm I remember how that feels! She is expecting a girl, so will be lovely for Arlea to have a cousin so close in age.
Arlea & I have colds, it's her first (& my first for the year!) but nothing too serious just a bit sniffly. It has hindered the BF attempts the last few days...not that we were making any great progress, really. I am donating my surplus milk to the milk bank here so that is nice.
And ...it's official... I am going back to work on the 15th of October. Just one day a week atm, maybe another one day a fortnight on top, nothing more for at least 6 mths, the rest I will do from home. I know a lady who does family daycare, so Arlea will be in with her, her first day is the 8th. I am not going to work that day as I am not sure how I will cope....
ETA - I just spotted my ticker & realised she is 2 months today  wow that goes fast....
-
missbec - sorry things have been so tough. Fingers crossed things start looking up soon!
LNB - Welcome! Sounds like Nate is sleeping well for you!
Pre - Love the new name, took me a second to figure out who you were!
Jasp - Hope the transition back to work goes smoothly. I'm sure Arlea will do great!
AFM - Been feeling a bit down this week actually. I'm really feeling not having a license atm. I'm sick of being trapped at home. We needed milk this morning so I bundled them both into the pram and away we went, a block away Oliver started screaming, so into the sling he went. Didn't want to be in there either. I trundled on, pushing Noah and trying to quieten Ollie. Finally got to the shops and realised I'd left my wallet on the kitchen table. Had to turn around and come all the way back, of course then it started raining too. Felt like crying right along with Ollie at that point!
Luckily I managed to whip back in a rare quiet period and pick it up, but that made me really want my license. Too bad I'm super nervous about driving.
My mum and my sister both recently went from working part time to full time recently, so I'm missing having them pop around during the week too.
Anyway, I'm sure I'll get out of this bad mood soon. It doesn't help that Danny is out tonight at The Footy Show Grand Final Show (he works on Wednesday nights, so have been stuck at home with the both of them alone since Tuesday morning).
I thought his wind should be getting better by now, if anything it seems to be getting worse. He won't sit with his legs bent for very long, as that seems to cause him discomfort. He'd be happy if I could carry him upside down on my forearm all day, unfortunately that's not exactly practical.
Sorry for the pity post!
-
yeah Anton selpt from 10pm to 6am lastnight
-
lauren - i hope today is much kinder to you.
jess - wtg anton!
jas - hope you & arlea are feeling better.
-
wow I'm impressed with some of the sleeps your babies are getting! I guess that's one of the drawbacks of co-sleeping for us plus low milk supply - we don't comp over night, so he sort of snacks all night  He had a few nights recently where he's gone down at around 7pm and slept for 4-5 hours before coming into bed with me - fantastic! - but hasn't made a habit of it unfortunately...
LotusFlower - don't apologise, sounds like you're having a sucky week! Have you tried some massage on Ollie? you can stroke their bellies in the shape of a 'C' which apparently encourages stuff to move through their digestion. Pinky Mackay has a baby massage DVD which you can from the library and she talks about massage for sore baby tummies.
AFM - looking forward to the weekend. Even though DH has worked from home a couple of days this week, it's not the same as when he's actually home and not working!
Hope everyone has a good one.
-
Hi all! Just wanted to pop in and say a quick hello!
lovelycate, I know exactly what you mean about looking forward to the weekends, it's so nice when DH is home and you get to spend a couple of days as a family.
Yey  for Anton Jess, can't wait for Ash to do the same. By the sounds of things the introduction of solids is working wonders for you.
Hope today is a bit better for you LF
How are your colds going Jasp, I hope you're both feeling a bit better today.
Glad you mothers group is going well for you Sarah, I think it is worth sticking it out, we're up to our fourth session and there are now a couple of ladies who I have really warmed to, but at first I was a bit unsure of whether I would hit it off with anyone.
LNB, welcome, I'm looking forward to getting to you know you better and congrats on little Nate!
SS sounds like Hayley's laugh was priceless, we've had a couple of little giggly sounds but nothing that I can say for sure is a laugh, looking forward to it though!
Love the new name MamaPan!
I know what you mean with the temperature change Jetta, DH could still give Sam a massage with his clothes on though. Not quite as intimate but I'm sure they would both still enjoy it...
AFM we are going away to a winery for the weekend and I can't wait. It will be so nice to get out of the city and have a bit of RnR. Mind you the weather looks like being awful, so it might end up being a chilled out inside type of weekend. Oh well, I'm sure it will still be fantastic. I have however gone a little over the top with packing, it's hard to know where to start and stop when they are this little. But I figure it is best to be prepared for all possibilities...
Hope everyone else is doing well x
-
Hi Guys!
Lotus Flower - good to see you back! I think it is so normal to have the ups and downs still! I remember reading something that said if you are still down after 10 days after having the baby then you may have post natal - I was still crying weeks later!! But I definately still have my days as well especially when you are tired. ie. yesterday! Sam wouldn't settle and was crying so much and it just really gets to you when you are there all day on your own and it feels like it is never going to end. My husband always says to remember the big scheme of things - it is just a day or a few days and it will pass. Sometimes easier said than done though when you are in the moment!!
jasp - I totally understand going back to work! We run our own business and I have started back one day a week. Things for us from now until Christmas are sooooo crazy and my poor husband is trying to run the whole thing himself. It is really daunting. We are looking at employing a manager so I can start back part time and not stress about going full time straight away. It is going to be so hard leaving them though. Good idea to do daycare but not be at work I think. That way you can just make sure you are comfortable with it, but I will be thinking of you! You just want to be with them!
Sloane - wow! Congrats on the weight with Corey! that's great. A very happy baby I take it!! Baths this week are the same! I think you are right and it is the temperature thing. I think once the towel gets a bit cold from the damp he doesn't like it. We have just started dressing him straight away and doing massage on a different night and he is definately better so I think it is just him realising the difference in temp.
LNB - that's great you have dropped that feed! Well done. Great to be getting some sleep! Sam goes from 10pm til around 4am, so at the moment I am happy with that! I then wake him around 6.30am to start our day as I am semi back at work so that gets me around 6 1/2 hours sleep which I can cope with! Glad to hear that Nate is happier this week as well. Sam is having a bad time at present, just being more whingy and waking more and not sleeping. I had him self settling a bit last week but not this week!! I think they are just growing and developing so much it must be so difficult to take it all in! I love this forum too, it is great when sometimes it is hard to get out that there are still people to talk to!
lovely cate - Sam hasn't laughed yet either, he looks like he is going to but no sound comes out!! He has started talking a bit more though which is really exciting!! My mother in law said she use to tape record my husband so she could replay it over!!
ss storm - that is so gorgeous!! We have slowely let Sam look at the dog too and he just has the strangest look on his face as though, what the hell is that thing??!! It is quite funny! I haven't been to my mothers group either! The weeks just seem to fly by and I hate going to things where I don't know anyone! I wouldn't worry about the age, I don't think anyone cares. Some of my bestest friends are almost 5 years younger than me and it doesn't matter at all! One of my friends is 27 and she thought she would be the youngest and she said she is the oldest so I think there is a real mix of ages in all the groups.
Mamapan - took me a while to work it out too! 6kgs is great, Sam just got weighed at 5.9kgs so that is good too. Glad the flat spot is better, we have a slight flat spot so we have started putting him at the other end of the bed to make him sleep on the other side of his head as he loves sleep to the left!! The nurse recommend it as there is a wall with pictures on it so she said turn him around so he sleeps on the other side! Good luck with the gp, I am sure it is fine but I can imagine quite stressful.
AFM - SAm has had a few rough days. His sleeps are a bit strange and he is waking with gas at around 1 hour partciularly in the morning. I have been putting in the dummy to soothe him back to sleep but am hating doing it as I don't want it to become a habit. Not sure how else to help his gas though. It isn't that bad, he just doesn't settle back to sleep. Apart from that lots more talking now and kicking and he is really great at tummy time! Today and yesterday were a bad day as each time he goes in the cot he just starts howling! I think he is becoming aware of things and so I am trying not to pick him up too often and try to settle him in the cot instead. Sounds like everyone is having a bit of a 10 week thing. He looks like he is trying to push to roll over too. Anyway, hopefully he will improve over the next few days. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
-
Hi Everyone -
Jetta - we had exactly the same days with Nate last week, he wouldn't settle and would finally fall asleep in our arms and then as soon as we crept over to the cradle and put him in he would wake and scream. It took about 3 - 4 days and then he was back to normal and is sleeping really well again now.
Great to hear the weight gains on the bubs a true sign of thriving babies!
For those in Melbourne, I hope the rain eases up for the grand final and that some of this rain hits the catchment areas so we can have some water for summer.
Sorry for no other personals - still trying to keep up with where everyone is at.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.
Take care,
LNB

i think it was a 1 night wonder with anton sleeping asleep at 9pm sofar awake at 12.30 for a snack asleep now at 12.50. rearrange my lounge lastnight couldnt believe how much dust was sitting round in there tonight ive done some shopping ready for yet another bday party next saturday the last 1 for the year n climb up onto my kitchen benches to dust the top of the cupboards
-
Jess - you are sooo good with the cleaning!! God, I am hopeless!!! I am moving in 3 weeks and it is all those spots - behind beds, on top of cupboards that are going to be really bad!!!!
Hope everything is going well for everyone!
LNB - I agree, Sam has settled a little bit better as well so I think they just have their good days and bad days as well.
Sam slept from 10pm til 5.50am this morning!! First time with almost a full nights sleep! I am saying to myself it could just be a one off though!! Very happy that he slept through though as I heard him stir about 4.30am but he must have put himself back to sleep! Yay!! We are moving in 3 weeks so busy trying to start packing but looking forward to the long weekend next weekend! How annoying is the weather at the moment! I have no idea what to dress Sam in!! It's cold inside but really warm outside but windy and then the nights have been pretty cold!! Almost summer though!
Hope to hear from everyone soon!

hi everyone!
sorry i should have explained my new name!!! i have gone from pregpan to pregagainpan and now mamapan!! aah the journey of my life documented in usernames LOL!
Sloane - wow on corey's weight - good going mama!! it is great to know he is doing so well isnt it - is he tall?
LF - so good to see you, I knwo how it can be hard when you have those weeks - and I know I am finding it a lot harder this time around than i did last time. i know a few weeks ago i was feeling quite isolated etc, more than i did when i was home with Noah... do you have a double pram? i didnt but i just got one and it has made it so much easier - even when N will walk a bit it means i can geta round the local area faster and i feel more free iykwim? i found a good playgroup nearus that has helped and meant i met a few more local mums too - my friends are not so close so i need to make plans more in advance with them but i bmp into some of these mums at the park or local cafe and that is nice. i think it is also, for me, even more of a feeling of constantly bveing needed by a child - more than when it was just N - a gorgeo0us feeling but i do find it a bit stifling... anyway we are all here when youneed to chat.
Jasp - i know how hard it is to do the childcare thing.. will be thinking of you.
have you all done the 2 months needles? we are booked in next week (he will be 3 months but i like doing it a bit later - and i was slack making the appt)
will go to gp for the fontanelle tomorrow - but scared but better to have it monitored. pls let it be ok...
Jacob is being totally gorgeous - he smiles so much ans does lots of cooing and yesterday was v close to full laughing. he just loves Noah and his face lights up when he comes near - the best thing to see. i can see how much he will leanr from him - Noah is constantly saying 'look jacob it's a.... (plae, train, apple etc)' LOVE IT!

well im hoping everyone else and there r doing good and ill come back on more often now :D:lol::dance:

Mamapan -Luv your new name. Glad to hear that Jacob is being so cute. Which pram did you get?
Hi all, have had a tough week with miss E but today is fine. I think she has had a wonder week. Yesterday she fed hourly, so I was exhausted by 10pm. I am hoping that my supply is not drying up
-
Hi everyone
BekZ - I don't think your supply is drying up. Sounds like the 12 week growth spurt! From what I understand, the increased feeding sends the message to your brain to produce more milk to meet bub's growing needs. Hopefully the feeding frenzy dies down soon though!
Blayne and Jetta - wtg on the big night-time sleep!
Mamapan - haven't had the two month needles yet - was too scared to confess to the MCHN yesterday ;-) Planning to get them this week - when he was due I had a cold and didn't want to take the risk of him having the needles on top of having a cold. Besides, I'm not really looking forward to it...
AFM - had our MCHN 3 month check yesterday (which I had forgotten about but fortunately had booked it for right before mothers' group) - Zac is now 62cm long and 5.74kg, apparently about the size of a 4-month old? He looks very long and slim. He has put on over a kilo since the last MCHN visit! She has been muttering for a while about his hips - she can't get them to open out as flat as they should, although she thinks that may be because he has strong muscles. However, I'll take him to the Dr for a check. Apparently he was supposed to have a 6 week 'hips and heart' check which I didn't know about. Oh well, he's 13 weeks today - hopefully I don't get told off about it and not getting his needles done yet ;-)
beautiful sunny day here in Melbourne today - what a relief after the enormous amount of rain we've had.

My little boy is 3 months old.
When he was a week or two old he loved tummy time and would push himself up on his forearms. Now when i put him on his tummy he tolerates it for about a minute then starts to gets irritated. He also no longer attempts to push up on his arms and look around.
He only has a slight interest in toys, he's just started to look at and bat at the toys in his bouncer in the last couple of days and i've never seen him try to reach for anything. He sometimes holds my hand while i feed him but never tries to hold anything else. Is this just normal development or is he falling behind?
I'm also a bit worried about the the shape of his head... It's rounded but he seems to have trouble turning it from side to side when he's on his back because it sticks out at the back. If that makes sense?
Please tell me what you think.
Wow... Long post, sorry.

hi Heva5
I'm not sure how it works in Qld, but I assume you would have some sort of equivalent to the Maternal & Child Health Nurses (MCHN) we have in Victoria. I would contact them first off.
Lots of babies dislike tummytime, esp for extended periods of time - I wouldn't worry about that too much :-)

-
Hi Heva - I think there are MACH nurses in every state - that would be a good place to go to discuss your concerns, they sound normal to me but if you are like me you would want someone to look at him and tell you he is ok. it's hard not to worry isnt it!
Bekz - I think J is also maybe having a wonder week, he is alot less settled and feeding like a MONSTER! i better read up on wonder weeks again ithink! he is 12 weeks so i tgink that aligns? I ended up getting the mountain buggy double and I LOVE IT! it is heavy if you are lifting in and out of car (whcih i dont much i use it more for walks from home) but it is great, they are both really comf in it and it is a dream to manouvere considering its size. i got a good prie for it froma website (though it is expensive) pm me if you want details.
Lovelycate - they do tend to make you feel guilty about the needles if you are late... ia m 6 months late for one for Noah...ooops! i HATE having them done... feels good when tit is out of the way though. i recommend doing ti at the gp as you dont have to wait around for as long and mainly bc you dont have to see heaps of other kids crying from them... anyway, i got J;s done this morning - he cried butwas ok after a feed.. i brought him home and gave him some panadol though just bc N always gets a temp from them... so far all is ok. he seemed to love the taste of the rotavirus one and licked the spoon the dr was using the catch drips LOL! they also checked his fontanelles and they seem to be tiny or clsoed. gp called paed to discuss and we just have to monitor - as all other signs are good. so i will be going to the nurse for measuring every 2 weeks and back to gp in 2 months to be sure... so a bit if a relief there that there was no mention of an operation or anything nasty like that...
Zac sounds like he is tall! Jacob was 60cm and nearly 6kg last time i had him measured... hmm is eem to have more chubbalubbas!!!
-
where has the last 11 weeks gone. poor anton has that nasty cough back but he his doing ok he is loving the rice cereal and apple best of all he likes them together, have found the rice cereal on its own gave anton a pain in his tummy but with the apple mixed in to he has been great on.
sorry got to put a young lady back to bed hope everyone is well
-
Jess - sounds like the feeding is going really well which is great!
heva5 - my boy is a bit the same, was pulling himself up to almost 90 degrees but the last week will barely lift his head at all and gets a bit cranky. I just keep at it and encourage it during the day but am hoping he improves a bit in that department as he was so good! Sam is just starting to take an interest in toys the last week and really starting to look around now. I give him things to hold but I do think he still doesn't really understand that he is holding something. Sometimes he is, sometimes he isn't. He doesn't really grab for stuff, I show him or put the toy down for him to try to touch. He is just starting to hit things hanging above his head too so I think as their eyesite improves it will get better. Best thing to do if you have any concerns is either doctor or the child care centre. No amount of questions or checking is bad!!
lovelycate - Sam is 5.7 kgs and was 59cms long at the check up last week so we have some good growing bubs on our hands!
bekz - hope things start improving this week! How much fun are the wonder weeks! Not!!! Just when you feel like you have things under control it all goes out of whack again!
I have some questions for breast feeding mums who are roughly sort of doing a schedule. Sam is feeding around 3 1/2 hourly at present, many times I am still waking him. Eg this morning - awake at 6.30am for feed and play then back to sleep at 7.30am. I woke him at 10am for a feed and he was showing tired signs at around 10.40am so he is now back to bed again. Just sort of wondering what time frames other babies are feeding on now and if anyone else is sort of doing a routine. He is roughly feeding around the same times eg 6.30am, 9.30/10am, 12/30/1pm, then somehwere around 3 to 4pm then around 5.30pm. I then feed him at 10pm and then he is now back to waking somehwere between 2.30 and 4.30am. I see people talk about having their babies up around 7pm but once he goes to sleep after his 5.30pm feed I sort of figure that is bedtime? Is 12 hours sleep at night a good thing? Some naps during the day are 2 1/2 hours then others are around 40 minutes, if he isn't due for a feed I just play with him and put him back to bed or play and feed a little early then bit more play then bed. Are other babies only staying awake max 1 hour? Sorry for all questions but just wanting to get an idea of what other breast feeding babies are doing!!!
One more question too - Sam still doesn't really turn to noises, he seems to interested in looking at other things and I will make noises or rattle something and he doesn't really ever turn to the noise. I know he can hear, but should he be doing this now??
Thanks guys!
