Mia, thanks for sharing that with me hun :hug: We are seeing a developmental pediatrician at the beginning of Feb because Cam's pediatrician doesn't want him to be assessed much before 2 years of age. I really wanted for someone to take a look at him now, but everywhere I called the waiting list is so bloody long :( I'm so tired of worrying about Cam, I just wish I had some answers. GL with Fraser's app. tomorrow! Let me know what they say. Hopefully he's just a late starter and he'll just start talking overnight! Cam is hardly saying any recognisable words as well, but he also understands a lot.

We're still in Geelong at the moment, I've started some casual shifts in the Geelong emergency department, loving being back at work! How are things with you?
Indy's started having a tooth mousse on his top front teeth because he has some decay :( I'm so annoyed, he has a really good diet, only has water or milk and brushes!

beata and mia - i hope the appointments go well. hamish says some very clear words and sentences sometimes but most often its just baby babble. i am not too worried as he understands everything we say to him and he really isnt interested in talking at all! one day he is just going to come out with some sentence that is clear as day and knock all our socks off. and i am sure both fraser and cam will do the same for both of you! they say boys are just overall slower then girls. fingers crossed its just them being lazy and not wanting to say anything!

not much happening here. just getting organised for our move. i went thru and did a huge cull of my friends list on fb the other day. got rid of all my work collegues. cant really say they are friends when they never invite me anywhere! plus some of them just ignore me and dont speak to me at work either so whats the point of having them on my friends list.
off to see the new twilight film on sunday night! having a girls night out with my best friend. really looking forward to it. it will probably be the last time we can do this before we leave sucky old adelaide. heres hoping wagga is much better!

HC, I saw your post a while ago about the tooth decay :( Have you taken Indy to a dentist? My problem with Cam is that he will not let me brush his teeth 99% of the time, nor will he brush them himself! I manage to get the toothbrush into his mouth for a couple of seconds before he pushes my hand away. I'm really worried about tooth decay. I give him raw apple every day and if I have to I stick my finger in with a cloth and give the teeth a wee clean even though he always ends up biting me :o I don't know what else to do :wall: We've been so busy for the last few months looking for a house, which is a good distraction for me as I constantly worry about Cam and what he should be doing, and then there are the little things that he is doing which are a bit odd. Hence the need for him to be seen by a developmental pediatrician in Feb to get some answers or at least to ease my mind.
Teresa, GL with the move hun! And have a great time seeing the new Twilight movie :) I can't wait to see it.
Rach, once again lots of these :hug: I hope the pain is subsiding even a tiny bit. It's a tough road none of us should ever travel.
Thanks sweethearts. I'm good, was just a huge shock yesterday. It never even crossed my mind that it would happen to me once, let alone twice.
I truly am ok, little Jem makes me squeal with laughter and has been giving me kisses so much today that it was getting a little annoying! Little darling!
I think waiting to find out is the worst part so was all twisted in knots yesterday so the release was messy but necessary.
Sigh!
Has anyone started planning the next birthday?? Please tell me you are or am I just a total loser!!!

Haha Rach, I am still getting over Cam's 1st birthday! I had to pretty much organise it all myself as DF was still in China and conveniently came back only days before wee man's party. Haven't really thought much about his 2nd birthday party, I still have to organize his christening.......:redface:

Someone in our house is very fond of the word "no". Apparently it is pronounced "nooooooooooo" and must be said with a scrunched up little face and a finger pointed on my face. Doesn't help that I think it is cute and laugh at her!

She amazes me what she comes
Out with sometimes. She knows all the Mickey mouse characters now and points them out in her book and on the tv when it's on and says their names. She's Mickey mouse clubhouse crazy. That's her party theme.
She has a habit of losing her dummies so walks around crying saying "where is it?" over and over again until she or I find it.
Has anyone attempted or started to think about toilet training yet? I don't think she is ready just yet, perhaps in a few months tho - it scares the hell out of me!

Oh and I've been planning it since she was 18mo!! I love it so much - I want it to be my "thing"! To be the mum who makes awesome cakes and throws them awesome parties. Prob cos I never had that myself!

no to the 2nd bday party! we will only know one set of friends when we move so they will probably come up from albury for the day to help us celebrate. there is a park right across the road from our new house so i figure we will just go over there so the boys can play on the swings and stuff.
we have started toilet training here. only because hamish keeps pulling his nappy off and wont keep it on! he has worn jocks a few times now. i dont want to fully commit to training him due to the move so its more of a casual get to know the toilet and jocks thing here. he will go if you ask him, and will sit on the toilet but hasnt done anything on it yet. tho one day we couldnt find him, and went looking for him, found him sitting on the toilet, nappy on, doing a poo. then the other day found him with a pee at his feet in front of the toilet! so he gets the idea of what to do just hasnt done it in the toilet yet. tho his shaun the sheep got the royal flush the other day! :rofl: thank god it was just water and nothing else in there :rofl:
Jeez we didn't even really plan Dude's first birthday party, slack lol! That was my fault though, my cricket grand final ended up on the day we had set aside for his birthday, so all of our mates just came to my grand final and had a birthday picnic while we kicked arse!

Haven't even thought about the 2nd birthday. We're in the process of selling our house so we can build - we have no idea where we will be in 3 months time!
We got on well with the Development Paediatrician. He said Fraser is actually ahead in some categories, and pretty spot on with the others, so nothing to worry about (thank goodness)! Fraser has had a cough for about 4 to 5 months now and after countless trips to the doctor, this paediatrician said he thinks it could be asthma. We're trialling a Ventolin inhaler to see how we get on with it.
Mia, that's fantastic to hear about Fraser's developmental paed appointment! Hope the Ventolin inhaler works for him. We will go to see a developmental paed in March (I made an app. to this one a while ago on a friend's recommendation) but his regular paed sent a referral to this other place in Feb, it's a total of 4 or 5 appointments all up and then the developmental person takes up to 8 weeks to write her reports and sends them back to Cam's regular paed. The whole process seems a bit drawn out to me. If Cam needs help in any area I'd like to get him started asap. Maybe the paed we'll see in March will be able to assess him there and then.
Miss.B - I hope that Cam's appointment goes well. I really, really do, as I know how you feel. This paed just basically asked us everything to do with Fraser, at what dates he did them and all about his health, and he sat him down with toys to see how he interacted with them. I must say, he was being particularly extrovert on this day and decided to start saying words he had never done before! We know he has always been a climber and good at building and he was on the 22 month scale for those, and pretty much bang on for words. He said to us to never let ourselves be judged and if they play nicely by themselves and can tolerate others, then basically all is well and not to worry. Hoping that the Ventolin works - we have had morning starts as early as 3.30 cos he coughs and can't get back to sleep, but I am hoping that moving house may help - it's maybe just coincidence, but around the same time the cough started, we got new neighbours who smoke at the side of the house Fraser's bedroom is at, and also we put in a new kitchen generating a lot of dust!
