DF and I tried to DTD last night. I was a bit worried it would hurt after such a big tear and stitches, but instead I felt basically nothing. Majorly decreased sensation, I couldn't even tell when he was in - sorry if TMI. :cry: Has anyone else had this problem? I have a doctors appointment next week so will ask about it then. I hope its not a permanent thing.

Well done Peppar! :clap: Fingers crossed it isn't a one off. And to think I was proud that Robert "self settled" last night when I put him to bed after his bath and feed. He was drowsy but still awake, so I kissed him on his forehead and said goodnight and put him in his cot. I could hear him talking to himself for a while and it probably took him just under 10 minutes to fall asleep but he wasn't crying and seemed content.
I think Robert's waking up (in between feeds) because he's cold. It's too warm to have him too rugged up when he first goes to bed. It's that early morning air that's the bugger. Plus he's started to kick his blankets off, even though he's swaddled. I've got material to make him a sleep sack, maybe I should work on that today.
Breesa, I almost choked on my hot chocolate when I read what you had to say as .... DH and I finally got busy on the wend (not like I was in a rush or overly interested though) and thankfully it was all good with no major broken bits or soreness. PHEW! We are regularly having 4/5hr stretches at night now..... you go at it for 4 - 5 hours?!!! :ROFL: Well done, you go girl! WELL then I read it again and realised you meant the baby sleeping!
Deedles, DH is home on Friday - only 3 more sleeps to go. I fully intend to DTD the minute he walks through the door..... okay, well it's always like that when he's been gone for a while. I don't think it'll last 4-5 hours though (giggle) but maybe at least 4 minutes! Got to love catch up "haven't seen you in months" sex.
Re the spewing. Robert's had a couple of spewy episodes but not too bad - only when he's being greedy. I think my milk must be coming out too quick. It's like I'm drowning the poor kid at each feed. I have to sort of sit him up a bit while he feeds otherwise he coughs and splutters and I end up with milk everywhere!
Well I'm going to tidy up the kitchen while the young fella is still asleep - he fell asleep in his bouncer an hour and half ago and he's starting to stir.
SOOOO tired, Hannah for some reason wont settle after the first wake up feed.
she has been having a feed, bath then top up in bed by 930-10 ,wakes up at about 1230 4 then 630 for feeds and settles back down.:clap:
but now she wont settle back down after the 12 30 feed, so we are up with her trying to settle her for at least an hour and a half but last night:shakehead: she wouldnt re settle , she fed at 1230 put her back to bed wouldnt settle was up for ages had to give her to DF as she was getting stressed about smelling my milk, i ended up putting her in the sling at about 430 which she fell asleep in i sat there for ages untill i slipped her out of it and put her to bed at about 6 and got a little sleep
omg she has been going so well so i shouldnt complain she cant help it ;)

DH and I jumped on that bandwagon when Peppar was about 2 weeks old. ;) Well it had been such a long time since we had done it (the labour inducing hop ons dont count) and the fact I felt ok down there I thought why not? I didnt have any stitches this time but yes Roxxie that "are you in yet?" feeling is normal. I have had varying degrees of stitches with all of my boys and sex afterwards is always different. I had pretty bad first birth, episotomy forceps etc so thought that my hoo haa would never recover but it did so give yourself time.
Not very nice but certainly gets you cracking on those pelvic floor muscle exercises.

Missy moo has now done four nights of sleeping through to at least 5 and I am stoked. Sorry Deedles no clues as to why but im certainly not knocking it. Make hay while the sun shines I say. :dance:
We have our needles on Friday but DH does those. I did my first sons first lot and I cried more than he did so I refused to take them for anymore. Dad can be the meany not me. :lol:

Oh my gosh Lennox has been sleeping ALL day. He woke up at about 8am then had a feed and slept till 12.30. He has only woken up to feed really and he has been awake for about 1/2 hr all day.
I bet he wont sleep at all tonight.
Is that normal? Should I wake him up by giving him some tummy time?
My DS1 is only 2 and I still can't remember what to do lol.
Deedles, I've had days where Robert's been awake all day and I've thought, well he should sleep tonight - WRONG! He continued the trend throughout the night. The other day he slept basically all day and slept well that night too. Some days though it's completely opposite. Personally I think they make up their own minds and change things all the time to keep their mum on her toes!!

We had Willow's 6 week check up yesterday and her first round of needles.
Am pleased to say Will is now 9lb 6oz (was born 7lb) and is 57cm long (on the longer side of the scale I've been told). All looks well with the little Willow.
She took her needles really well, yesterday she was a dream baby.
However today she has been totally out of her tree. Just screaming between feeds and NOTHING I am doing is settling her. Which, I know I've complained about before (the settling issues) however once she hit 6 weeks she sort of 'settled' herself and we were going ahead in leaps and bounds with settling.
I ended up giving her a dose of baby panadol at 4:40pm this afternoon, this stopped the screaming and we had our first lot of quiet awake time for today. She hasn't run a temp or anything, just really unsettled and grumpy. DH has settled her this evening and she's asleep at the moment, due for a feed around 9pm so I hope the Panadol has worked and that she'll be OK to settle tonight.
Will's sleeping has been great, we get a long stretch at night. Usually in two blocks however since switching to formula I am finding that we do a late feed at around 9-10pm and then she will sleep through till about 4-5am. I usually stay awake then after this early morning feed as it takes so long to settle her by the time she settled DH would be up and about getting ready for work and the house would be full of morning noises so sleeping is not so much of an option.
Does anyone know if a grumpy baby over 24 hours AFTER immunisations is common?
I kind of figured if the needles upset her, she'd have been unsettled last night, not today.
And yeah, Shell, for some reason Will is now more difficult then she used to be to settle after the middle night/early morning feed. She used to just feed and drop off quickly, now she looks to want awake time for a while and then she *might* drop off.
We are lucky, as it appears that Will is an OK self settler - with no real effort on our behalf. I've put her in her bassinet several times now when she's been awake (when I get to the end of my rope with settling and she's still staring at me all bright eyed and bushy tailed) and she must have dropped off to sleep as we wake up a few hours later.
Am really lucky with that.
Also, the Mums who are bottle feeding - how strictly are you keeping to the tin measurements/progess in age reccomendations.
Willow isn't 2 months till next week, however for the last week she has drained each 120ml bottle feed and her length of time between feeds have dropped from 4 hours to 3 hours - would it be OK to up her to the 180ml feed even though she is a week off being 2 months (teh age when the tin says to up to 180ml)?
Oh and yes, one thing we have NEVER had to worry about with Will is spewing.
When BF she never spewed, now that she is FF she has had a small 'spit up' now and again bit nothing that would drip or run anywhere on anything.
I guess we are lucky with that!

Thrilled, I remember that with DS1 (this is stretching the memory) that I had him on baby panadol for 24-48 hours after getting immunised. He had different reactions each time. In no particular order he had (and sometimes together):
- redness around the needle site which lasted a few days
- slight fever
- slight "rash" think this was a very mild reaction to the MMR
- just plain old whingy and clingy
I can't recall which one, but I do know that one of them he just sailed through with no side effects whatsoever. My doctor at the time just recommended keeping up the panadol to keep bubs comfortable - they can't really tell us that they just feel plain old ****ty.
Oh, and we have our needles tomorrow. Went to the clinic today and he's gained another 240g - 5.32kg (or 11lb 11oz)

When Hannah had her needles she was not her self for the next few days,they day up to 48 hours,Hannah had a light fever she was clammy skin, crying wouldn't play with her things just was not her self, we gave her panadol and lots and lots of cuddles ,she eventually went back to her little self again
Deedles how did your little man go the other night? Hannah slept all day yesterday but slept all night as well ..its weird u can just know how they are going to be..
Well we have our check up on Tuesday now as my doctor was sick.
I haven't weighed Lennox for a few weeks now but I know he has put on good weight. He looks as big as my DS1 did at three months old and he is only 6 weeks.
Lennox doesn't get his vaccinations until he is 8 weeks so it must be different in each state??
Lennox slept pretty much all day today again, only waking up for feeds then going straight back to sleep.
He was awake a bit more this afternoon so I gave him a bath then fed him and he has been asleep since 6.30pm. He usually wakes up around 11.30/12am then I have no idea how long he sleeps and wakes up for, as I just have him in bed with me as I am too tired to keep getting up to feed him.
I have to stop though, I love the cuddles but our toddler still comes into our bed every couple of nights to sleep with us. It is too scary having them both in bed. Also I don't want Lennox to be like the toddler and keep coming into our bed. I need some peace!

Well Ciaran was a super hungry person yesterday - he barely stopped feeding all day long!
I suspect he must be in a growth spurt coming up to 8wks.
Must brag that once again (3 nights in a row this time!) we have had 4hrly feeds at night.... gotta love those long sleep stretches. Also, he doesnt poo at night, just does one wee and keeps sleeping, so I find I dont need to change him till morning 4/6am when he wakes. Gotta love that progress - it means more sleep, and me not getting out of bed all night! :dance:

Oh, we had our 6wk checkup on Monday (at 7wks as GP was busy).
He has put 10cm in length (now 61cm) from birth, 5cm on his head (now 40.5) and 2.5kg in weight (now 5.6kg). He sure is a growing boy!
Oh an on needles - Im waiting a while before giving him any vaccinations. There is alot of research to show the benefits of delaying this for a few yrs till baby is older, so we are doing that. Will get him some homeopathic stuff in the interim.
My head cold has passed thankfully, and so far Ciaran seems untouched by it (miraculous!) so im happy.

After five nights of sleeping through to 5am or just after Miss Peppar slept through the night last night!
6 oclock I consider to be morning (anything before that is still night time in my book :D) and it was 6.05am when she woke this morning.
She wanted up then though as before she was going back to sleep for another couple of hours but hey Mummys not fussed.

Re needles - I live on the nsw/qld border. NSW is doing vacs at 6 weeks due to whooping cough epidemic, whilst qld has stayed on 8 weeks.
Soph got her temp about 7 hours after her actual needles and was shocking with the gastro from Tuesday night until Friday. Panadol and cuddles were the order.
Well, just as Soph settled from her needles my toddler got a vomiting bug!!! We had three days of normality and back at it again with chaos. He is all better now. I felt shocking yesterday but much better today - so fingers crossed just fought it off.
Sophie sleeps well in the day (most days) - some days she just flatly refuses and the baby bjorn is used nearly all day to ensure she does sleep and not get overtired.
Yesterday, she had a big sleepy day - sleeping in the rocker in the lounge room, pram or baby bjorn when out.
Soph does not ever self settle to sleep these day. She fights sleep! She "pirates" - ie. sleeps with one eye slightly open to keep an eye on things and make sure she is not missing out on anything.
As soon as it gets darks she will be absolutely sound asleep in my arms, I put her down and she instantly wakes (or within a few minutes)....i cannot put her down...she doesn't scream straight away. Last night I left her for about 30min in her cot after she awoke before she started crying...but did not go to sleep.
DH seems to be able to put her dow asleep at night now though!!! Crazy! While I was putting toddler to sleep last night, he put Sophie asleep in her rocker in the lounge room. When I went to bed I moved the rocker into the bedroom and there she slept from 8.30pm to 4am!!! Quick 15min feed and back into rocker until 7am! Great!!!! At least we are heading in the right direction but who knows if we can replicate that ever again....
Oh...at 5.30am on Wednesday morning, Soph was asleep in bed with me and started stirring and then I heard a sucking sound .... looked down.... and she was sucking her thumb and put herslef back to sleep.
My son is a true blue thumb sucker ... it is in alot!!! He successfully controlled his thumb sucking at 8weeks of age and that is when he slept through as he used his thumb to self settle. Soph has tried to suck before but wasn't even close with co-ordinating the whole thing..I thought she had given up...maybe she will suck her thumb.
Sorry for lack of personals....so far behind...will catch up next time!

Thrilled- If she is still looking hungry then try making up a larger bottle and see how she goes I did this. If she drinks most of the 180mls and manages to keep it down then she is probably ready to move onto the next stage or she may just need it for a couple of days if she is going through a growth spurt. There is no harm in making a larger bottle and tipping the leftovers out, Willow might just need an extra 10mls.

Hi evryone, jeez I have been away for what seems ages....have just had a massive read through and all the bubbas are doing so well :clap:
We have had a mad hectic time, Cyclone, My Grandma died, our tenants moved out of rental property, my parents have now gone after 3 weeks here and got stuck in Brisbane for a week becuase of the UK airport closures:wall: and now hubby is going back to the mines on Monday so I'll be on my own again only this time with 2 madams:o
But saying that Lily is doing really well she is pretty placid, she sleeps 7-2 then feed and maybe 2.30-4 (but she is capable of pushing till at least 5 and 6 on some days) so when hubby goes I might start to drop that feed. She is pulling her head up quite well and smiling lots.
Do you guys have a proper day routine yet? I keep thinking I need to be more strict with her sleeping in her bed during the day, but she is quite happy in her vibrating chair.
Cass I cant believe you have found time to make a sleeping bag....that is dedication :lol:
M2W - DD1 is a thumbsucker too, I am waiting for Lily to find hers but isnt quite there yet, that should see her through the night also:pray:

Lis, yes I'm a champion :rofl:. No not really, sewing is "therapy" for me.
With regards to daytime routine. I have a sort of a routine (which I follow very loosely). If he wakes before 630 I like to give him a feed and put him back to bed so we can follow the "babybliss" routine of waking at 730. From then on I only like to have him awake for an 1 - 1.5 hours at a time. His morning sleep is usually in the cot, after that he sleeps in his vibrating rocker, my arms, his pram or anywhere else I can get him to. I can't get him to settle into his cot until after his bath and dinner at 7. I think he's decided that the cot is strictly a "night time" thing. Yesterday he slept for nearly two hours in the rocker - I certainly wasn't going to wake him to put him in the cot because that's where he should be!!
Nah, no daytime routine here yet.
We are still following Willow's lead, we wake when she does and we go to bed after her last feed which at the moment is usually between 9pm - 10pm. The last few nights she has then slept till around 4am which has been great.
Although having said that we have no real routine, I do kind of insist on an afternoon nap at some stage. Will cat naps of a morning and midday - always in the vibrating bouncer and then of an afternoon I get her to sleep in the bassinet. Her afternoon nap can be anything from 40 minutes to an hour and a half.
A friend of mine suggested to keep the day sleeps in the bouncy as it's not as solid a sleep while in the bouncy (compared to the bassinet) and by having a "lighter" sleep during the day should guarentee that the night sleeps remain long and deep.
Not too sure if this is the case, as like a lot of you I can never pick if Willow will sleep for a long stretch BECAUSE of a restless day or on a really restful day if she will have an up and down night. I think it's all just hit and miss while they are this young.
We also do the 1 to 1.5 hours of "awake time" after a feed (except for the middle of the night feed). "Awake time" for Will can just be the bouncy, or a walk around the house and backyard with me or maybe some play mat time.
We upped her formula to 180ml and she is now going 4 hours between feeds.
I don't want to jinx anything, but it looks like we are finally settling into our little family and we understand each other a lot better. I am so pleased and am sure that DH feels a lot better leaving me with her each day - I am coping so much better this week.
No solid day routine here either - but generally its along the lines of:
6.30/7am - Wake up feed, followed by Play time (or when bubs wakes and is ready to play)
8-10 - breakfast, showers and another feed
10-4pm - feeds and sleep and housework(adhoc)
4ish - cluster feeds begin
6pm - playtime & evening nap
8/9pm - Final feed, night sleeps begin

Babies arent like us in that, if we can have a good nights sleep we come right. Babies just get more and more overtired to the point where they forget how to go to sleep. So the more you can get Willow to sleep the better her over all sleeping will become. Dont keep her awake at this stage she is still too little.
Peppar had her needles today and screamed. I was in the waiting room and started crying cause I could hear her. By the time I went back in she was smiling to her dad (with tears in her eyes though) and seemed happy enough. She is sleeping now but it is later on tonight when we will see just how she will go.
She is a little porker though 11lb 1oz now and 61cm long. I will have to dig out the boys baby books to do a camparison.

Stacey i agree with u, this is what i follow, Hannah sleeps when she needs to, i try and keep her up a little after feeds but i believe that if she ios tired and needs to sleep i let her, if she doe snot sleep when she needs to she gets over tired restless screams she is just not a nice little bubba lol..regardless of how much sleep they have of a day it does not effect them sleeping at night..they are so young still and need lots of sleep

Cass and Stacey - agree with you re sleep here too...to the point that in the early evening if Soph won't settle I will hold her and walk to make her have a nap so she doesn't get overtired and refuse sleep later in the night.
Cass - I seem to be following a similar pattern in the day to you...Awake 1-1.5hrs and feed when she wakes up! Don't u love the babybliss routines!
Bree - Cluster feeding begins about the same time for me too! And she seems to settle for the night around the 8-9pm mark too.

Sophie did it again last night! Yeah!! She had last feed at 8pm - finally got her settled at 9ish and she woke at 4.30am and was back in bed by 5am! At the minute she is having a big sleep (2.5hours so far!).
Sadly though - she is coughing and phlegmy today - poor thing and windy (7 days since her last poo - so the prune juice might have to come out on the weekend again!!).

Stacey I agree too, with dd1 the chn told me to try to get her in her bed for her daytime sleeps, as she would get a better quality of sleep but I was worried it would stop her being so good at night, it didnt and she was so much more alert, when she was awake....but that didnt start until at least 3 months.
I have to b quick both mine are having stereo melt-downs:o, it started in BIGW and has followed me home....It seems they are tag teaming me, while Lily is settled Emma screams and has a strop. Then as she settles Lily kicks off :wall:
At this rate they will both be in bed at 3 and I dont care how much they scream....I will get a chocolate bar and go outside and play on the trampoline on my own. :nahnah:

M2W, yep I always cry when he comes home! From the moment I wake up in the morning when he's due home from a long trip I get all nervous with butterflies in the tummy (yep, kind of like a first date). Get's majorly worse when I get onto the base, then when i see the ship come in I start getting all teary. He didn't let bubs go at all once I handed him over.
Stacey, Robert is 11lb 11oz at his weigh-in on Wednesday, so I have a little porker too.... I was only noticing yesterday when I was feeding him how long he's getting now. Haven't measured him for a few weeks, will have to do that today!
The "sleep promotes sleep" thing really works. Our routine went way out the window yesterday and we had a very grizzly bub last night. He wouldn't settle for more than 2 hours at a time. Just after 4 DH gave up and brought him into bed with us "because he was cold" yeah right!
I'm going to get him up now and give him a feed - he's had a bit of a sleep in (it's 8 now and normally he would be up by 730).
Oh and yes! Everything works down in that department!! ;)

Soph had another 7 hour stint last night - 9pm to 4am...she still won't think about bed until toddler asleep though..lthpugh as soon as she can't hear him for 15min she crashes.
For a first, she self settled last night! Wow - my son never did it once...and still hasn't!
I am currently experimenting with cutting out 2 yr old's day sleep (just to had to the mayhem) in the hope he (and Soph) go to bed earlier.
Soph has changed so much in her 8th week - we hit the long sleeps, she is talking more, more alert and holding her body with so much more strength and the big cheesy smiles!
How long are your bubs sleeping in the day and how long between feeds? Mostly Soph still feeds every 2 hours so feeds, is awake a little and then has a 45min nap...every now and then she has a longer sleep but when she had a three hr sleep on Friday she only slept 5 hours at night - not the 7-9 she had been doing..what are others finding?

Long time, no 'see'!! We are still alive and going well, I just haven't had chance to sit down and write. DS is happily playing and Sophie is happy in her swing, so hopefully I'll actually get to finish this.

Cass - hope you are enjoying having your hubby home and having some good 'quality' time as a family.
Lis - I'm glad I'm not the only one whose toddler is being 'difficult'! DS refuses to have a day sleep at the moment and it is driving me insane. Fortunately I only have him 2 days a week by myself as he is in care 2 days and then DH is home for the other 3!
M2W - I am so envious of you getting Sophie to sleep for such long periods overnight. My Sophie is a strict 3hr girl at the moment and I am a little worse for wear over it. Also, DS and I have been sick (cough and sore throats) for the past week, so when I finally stop coughing and get to sleep, DS wakes up from a coughing fit and calls out to me!! We feed for 20 mins, then generally have 1 - 1.5hr awake (mostly in her swing or if DS not here, having some tummy time/nappy free time on floor), and then nap till feed time.
Shell/Feijoa Mum - I too agree with the 'sleep encourages sleep' theory. My only problem though is that when I see Sophie start to get sleepy, I put her in her cot but she tend s to just lie there wide awake, but if I pick her up and put her in her swing, she is asleep within 5 mins. If I then move her to her back to her cot, she wakes up! Hopefully things will improve over the next couple of weeks and we'll get into a better routine. She really likes sleeping on her belly so I have started laying her on her belly in the cot for the occassional day sleep (as I have just done now and she has stayed asleep!) I would like to do this for all her naps but the whole SIDS message plays in my mind and stops me (even though neither DH or I smoke, and I don't cover her with blankets or have a heater in her room!) At least it gives her head some 'recovery time' as she tends to favour one side, no matter how often I switch ends of her cot or move her head during the night. I bought the 'Contented little baby book' when I was pregnant with DS, and while I didn't follow the program strictly (you would have NO life if you did!) it does give some good examples and techniques. I've been meaning to get it out and revise the basics so that I can get on track again.
Roxxie - I haven't even considered DTD yet as I'm too tired and not really enjoying the huge wobbly boobs/belly thing and don't think DH would either!! But, he is starting to get impatient and I did tell him he had to wait till my 6 wk check up (which is tomorrow) so will need to get my act together soon!!
Breesa/Thrilled/Queen Bee/Deedles - good to hear that you are all going well and that your bubs are good.
Well, we have all been sick again with the flu, which has been fun. Sophie has had a bit of a snuffle but so far that is all. She has started to get a little bit of cradle cap which is annoying as DS had it really bad and I had hoped that Sophie wouldn't get it. Tomorrow is our 6wk check up (both Paed and Ob) so I'm looking forward to getting that over and done with.
I am starting my 'Baby Fat Removal Plan' (i.e. Diet) on Wednesday as I gave myself till my six weeks appointment to enjoy life, eat what I want, etc. and have only lost 10kgs (in total including baby/placenta/etc.) since the day I went in to be induced! I ideally need to lose 25kgs :doh: to be at my optimum weight, but would love to loose a few more if I can. Anyone else needing to or started their BFRP??? I'm not sure how I am going to reduce my chocolate intake as having easter at a time when I was tired/sick/etc. was a REALLY bad thing and I have become slightly addicted (again!) Thinking I should start a blog to keep me on track but not sure I want the whole world reading about what I've eaten and how I'm feeling about my body! Wish me luck.
Time to go get some jobs done before we have to go for a drive to pick up a bargain baby buy I've had off a Tassie based Facebook Baby buy and sell page. I've bought a Bumbo second hand ready for when Sophie can use it, and for my 5mth nephew to use while he's here. Last week I got Sophie's swing (Fisher Price Take along for $45 in brand new condition) and a HUGE 'Scoop' for DS for $5 also in new condition). My husband thinks I've become a bit addicted and he may be right!! Speaking of facebook - anyone else on there? I'm Louise Chad if you want to add me as a friend - I tend to get on there more often than I can on here as it is quicker, etc.

I havent posted in so long, but I have been keeping up with our thread everyday. Everyone sounds like they have a real handle on things now. YAY for all of us!!! YAY for saved sanity!!
Our Miss Harper is able to self settle very well now. She wakes at 7am, has a bath and feed, sleeps until 9-10am when she has a nappy change, a play and another feed. She'll then sleep on and off until 2pm, but becomes a bit grizzly sometimes. By 9pm she is usually in bed until the 12am feed (if she wakes) and sleeps after that for ages! We have had 12hrs from her at most and 6 hours at least!! Am I blessed with a lovely baby......YES!!!
Because she was induced 3 weeks early the child health nurse has given Harper until 9 weeks to produce a smile. DP and I feel like we're missing out because she hasn't given us a chessy gummi bear smile yet :(
Louise, can I add you on FB?? I too go on there everyday and would love to stay in contact with my cyber mothers group :) Increased encouragement for this BFRP also!! Back to netball next week to get rid of this ghetto booty!! All my weight went to my backside! Eeek!!! No stretchies at least........

I should mention that the 25kgs isn't just baby fat, more like a lifetime of fat! I keep on trying to justify it by saying that my boobs must weight 5kgs each, so therefore I don't REALLY have 25kgs to lose :rofl:

Yes, I have "life time" fat to lose too. My aim is to be at my target weight by my 10 year wedding anniversary (which gives me just under 18 months) then as a reward I would like to renew my vows in QLD or Fiji. Pretty good incentive I think.
