Am so happy for you Kate. Hope it all goes well for you this time. Its hard not to stress though. Good sign youre getting m/s!
The bed situation is going to just have to test my patience. It had to happen sooner or later... She must have ben tired today coz she had no problems with going tobed for her arvo nap. Shes still in there! I suppose its better now than having to deal with a newborn as well. I just need to breath and am hoping that dh will be home more often to be supportive while I have my meltdowns!!! DH has decided to stand down from his SES position because he can see the girls growing so quickly and doesnt want to miss it. He also said he realises how much work it is for me and how much more work there will be with #3 due. I was so happy to hear that from him as I was expecting him to take up another hobby when this new one comes along... his way of escape is what i was thinking. Its really nice to feel supported in this journey.
Anyway, just kicking back with dd1 watching ice age 3... again! Nice to snuggle on the couch in the cold!

Kate - congratulations hun, I am so happy & excited for you! Sending you lots of sticky vibes!!!
Mel - glad to hear Bec has been ok in her bed. Hopefully it will stay that way for you. I wish my DH was around more to help me. He's home most days but goes to work around 4.30pm & finishes after midnight. That's my busiest time with bathing, cooking dinner & getting kids to bed etc. So when Lara goes into a bed I will have to deal with her on my own. He has Friday & Saturday nights off but plays indoor cricket on Friday nights so isn't home then either & this Saturday he has to work an extra shift. Coz he finishes work after midnight he doesn't come to bed until 2am, sometimes later & sleeps in until around 10.30am, it drives me nuts most of the time. I'd love him to get a new job. I bottle fed Lara & it wasn't too bad coz he'd do the middle of the night feeds for me but coz I'm breastfeeding Lexie I have to do all the feeds. I haven't gotten around to doing photos yet but if you'd like to pm me your mobile I can send you a photo.

Thanks ladies!!
Oh Leigh - Ill put my hand up for a photo!! xox

Leigh youre going to have to clear out your message box:)

Kate, will send you a pic soon.
Mel, will clear my inbox in a sec

Ok, I deleted a few messages out of my inbox, should be right to pm me now Mel.

Leigh... there are so many of you on fb! I wasnt sure which one to click so I left it. If you type in Melissa Duffie it should come up with Melissa Howell.....
Night 2 of Rebecca in the bed was ok! Getting both of them to sleep is the worst. Olivia thinks its all a game, so she isnt getting to sleep til about 9pm.... after rebecca is asleep. So its taking a good hour. I found beca on the floor at 130am but popped her back in bed and she slept til 630. I was up and down all night because she was coughing and dh was having a winge about it. So i just sat next to her made sure she was ok. I couldnt sleep properly but when I went back to bed and started falling asleep Olivia woke up at 330 for a toilet stop, so went to sleep with her for a few hours. Needless to say I am a tad tired. Its part of being pregnant too... baby is constantly moving at night, I need to wee a lot and cant get comfy sometimes... or just cant sleep!
Anyway, have a good day. Am off to see my friend who was due yesterday! Unless shes had a baby overnight:)
-
Mel, I tried looking for you on fb last night too but there are heaps with your name too, I will type in Melissa duffie & see how I go. Glad Bec is going well in her bed but bugger about you not getting much sleep. I'm always up at 3am feeding & I only go to bed at midnight. After lexie's 3am feed I have trouble going back to sleep, I'm a light sleeper & once I've been up I seem to be wide awake. I'm still usually awake around 5am & then up again at 7am. I don't know how I'm going to go once cadence is back at school next wk. Luckily DH will be driving her for the next few wks coz I can't coz of my c/s but I will even struggle getting her breakfast & dressed coz that's the time Lexie is feeding. We went to the dr today & she said that if I feed Lexie around 11pm like I normally do I can see if she can stretch out til 5-6am for her next feed. I'm waking her at 3am for a feed. Well she wakes me by moving around in the bassinet next to me but she's still asleep, maybe she's on the verge of waking, who knows though coz I always end up waking her & feeding her. I think if I'm going to try the 5-6am thing I will have to put her in her own room to sleep.
-
Hey Leigh... how did you go with cutting out the 3am feed? All the best with starting back at school, I hope you manage ok. Hows your csec wound going? Sorry i'm not sure what to call it!!!
Hows everyone else?
All good here. Still managing ok with the bed. Although its night time which can prove challenging. Rebecca usually has the door shut when she has her arvo naps and Olivia preferrs the door open, so now if the door is open at night, Bec just wonders out! Its still taking us at least 30-45 minutes to get them to sleep. Olivia just wont go to sleep without me or her dad laying there and now Bec needs some... guidence to stay in bed! So its taking both of us to get them to sleep. Am hoping it will be a short term thing.... maybe a few weeks??? I miss my time to relax. Rebecca has conjunctivitis... am thinking it might be something to do with her cold. We havent really seen other kids so I cant think of who she would have got it off. I have a bot of a sore throat and am taking lem sip. I just hope that it doesnt get worse. Its so hard being pg over winter and not being able to dose up! The baby is kicking alot. I still think she is breech coz most of the movement is low. I got to have a nanna nap today. Am getting really tired of late.... I think the baby has grown so much lately, my tummy is really big now.
Hope youre all well.

Hi Girls,
grrr I just started typing a post and lost it all.
Mel - How is Bec's conjunctivitis? How is the bed situation going? Hopefully its just a short phase that she needs someone to lay in with her. Cadence was horrible at getting out of the bed and coming out into the lounge room a few times before actually falling asleep. I bet Lara is going to be worse, although she can't turn our door handles and I'm hoping she wont have figured out how to do it by the time she goes into a bed. My c/s wound is getting better, the antibiotics really helped and it never developed an infection. Its not very sore anymore, except when one of the girls jumps on my stomach or something. Hey, was it Olivia who had to wear a brace on her hips? And what was it for? Because Lexie was born breech we have to take her for a hip ultrasound when she is 6 wks to make sure her hips arent dislocated and if they are she will have to wear a brace for a few months to correct it. Apparently all bubs who are born breech have to go for a scan to double check. We still haven't managed to cut out the 3am feeds, I'm sure she'll do it when she is ready. But Im thinking I really need to shift her into her own room at night just so I can get a good night sleep without hearing her making little noises in the bassinet next to me.
Kate - How are you feeling? Any bad m/s? When is your due date? I'm still so excited for you!!!
Hi to everyone else.
-
Good to hear your wound is healing nicely. Wont be too long before you can drive around. Becs conjunctivitis is better and her bed time is going... better!!! I think i need to stagger bed times as its easier for Bec to go to sleep on her own with the dhoor shut.
Yep it was Olivia who had the harness. She wasnt breech, but she was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at birth. She wore a pavlik harness from 6 weeks old til 8 months. It was hard at first... more for us, but it all went well. Rebecca had mild hip dysplasia and dint require any treatment. This baby will automatically qualify for an u/s at 6 weeks as there is a strong family history... I had it too! A girl in my mothers group had recently given birth to her boy who was also breech. Apparently it is routine to do so. Hopefully it is all good for her, she will probably need a follow up xray when shes older... if she does end up in a harness/brace, I will help you out with as many questions as you can ask. All the best.

Hi all,
Kate - fingers crossed for you hon!! Keep us in the loop!
Leigh - the pic of Lexie on your ticker is so cute!! It's so easy to forget how little newborns are!! Two of my friends have had boys in the last two weeks, another friend is due on the 1st Aug, one on 1st Oct and another just before Xmas so it's been babies galore in my group of friends. Getting a little tinge of cluckiness now and then, but then Sienna has a shocker of a night and I think "Nup, not yet!!" lol
I'm not sure if we're friends on facebook yet - sounds silly but I get confused with people's real names and their blog names - not the smartest cookie in the jar I know!!
Mel - you looked gorgeous in the wedding pics - I remember it was hard to feel glam with a big bubba belly, but you succeeded! Glad to hear bedtime is getting better with Bec. I haven't even thought of putting Sienna in a bed yet, her cot transforms into one but she's so restless during the night (she usually wakes up with wicked dreadlocks coz she moves so much in her sleep) that I think it's a little early for her yet. I feel like I could count on both hands the amount of nights that Sienna has slept the whole way thru, so I certainly don't want to jeopardise her sleep patterns further, lol.
Hi to everyone else - hope you're all going well!!
We had some drama last Wed night. After being completely fine all day, we put Sienna to bed as normal and were heading to bed ourselves several hours later when she starting coughing and gasping for air. So we rushed her to the after-hour Doctor at 11pm, where after a 5 min consultation and $70 later she was diagnosed with croup. The Dr said to head home and monitor her and if she didn't stop wheezing within the hour, to rush to hospital so she could go on a nebulisor (sp?) overnight. Thank the good Lord she settled down after hanging over a steamy bath for 1/2 hour, but it was pretty scary hearing her struggle for air, not to mention barking like a seal!! And the fact that she went to bed completely fine and it came on so quickly was just crazy. Lucky I've got blonde hair coz I'm quite sure I gained a few grey hairs during that saga. She seems to be all fine now, just a bit snotty, but I've been told that croup can be re-occurring which isn't encouraging!! Bring on summer I say!!!
Going to head off now - hubby's out at a council meeting and Sienna's in bed so I'm going to indulge in some chocolate and chill out in front of Masterchef xx
-
Mel- sorry to hear about Sienna. The girls have both had croup at one time or another. I have a bottle of steroids in the fridge ready to go. My gp said to keep it for next time! I think because the girls get a bit of asthma and eczma we have all sorts of stuff... like ventolin and spacers and stuff, so well prepared!
I wasnt going to get Rebecca into a bed until she nedded it. However her hanging over the edge just moved it along much quicker. Its been OK actually. Day sleeps are hit and miss. So some days she has one, some days she doesnt. On the days she doesnt shes is quite managable and will still go to bed around the same time! Unlike her sister who would always fall asleep at dinner if she missed a day sleep! I have worked out that if I stagger their bed time I am in with a chance. SO last night Bec went to bed at 730 and Liv at 8. Its much easier than trying to get them both to sleep at the same time!
Rebeccas language has taken another leap forward. Her words are increasing all the time and yesterday she ran up to me and said... Mama, where Daddy gone? So cute!
Ok better move... have a good day:)
-
Yep, we've kept the bottle of steriods in the fridge too!! Hopefully she won't need them *fingers crossed*
Good to hear Bec's going Ok in her bed! It's so cute when they start talking more - Sienna's a little chatterbox, she's hardly ever got her mouth shut, lol. It's lovely to hear, especially when she's playing with her toys and being very bossy "Hat on Teddy!" "Sit down Daisy (Upsy Daisy doll)" etc etc.
Just throwing a quick one out there - how are you guys going with toilet training? Is it something you're currently doing/have already done/aren't even thinking about at the moment?
I've been sitting Sienna on the toilet on a special step thing with a mini-toilet seat, and also on the potty. She's quite happy to sit there for a couple of minutes but hasn't done anything yet. She sometimes tells me when she's done a poo, but not always, and she occasionally pulls at her nappy when she's wet, so I think she's well on the way to starting. I'm in no hurry, figuring that I'll really step up the effort when she's turns two or thereabouts coz the weather will be warmer and she can run around bare-cheeked during the day.
Just thought I'd get your thoughts on the topic...
Take care xx

Mel- I started tt Olivia properly when she was 2.5. She turned 2 in the April and basically spent the winter stripping her clothes off, so I just left the potty out on front of the tv to start with. She would sit and wee on it some of the time. During that winter I encouraged her to tell me if she was weeing or pooing. When changin poos I would tell her it was stinky! When the weather warmed up and she was 2.5 and using the potty regulary I we tried times without nappies. She wouldnt wear undies for ages, so it was just he pants or dresses. Just loads of encouragement and positive reinforcement. When she did wees elsewhere I wouldnt make it a bad thing, just an accident!
I probably wont be starting to tt Rebecca until it warms up. I do on the occassion pop her on the toilet before baths, but shes not interested. She watches us going to the loo and gives us toilet paper! For me it was easier when they could run outside for hours in the nud and not have to worry about mess! Especially since it will coincide with a newborn. I personally think it might be too early.... but if shes showing some interest then it might be thats shes ready! Let us know how you go.

Hey girls,
Haven't been getting the updates so a little catching up to do.
Leigh - Lexie Charlotte's a gorgeous name, hope you are getting a bit more sleep soon.
Kate - Yay congratulations - sticky vibes - xxx
Mel - hope your third trimester is a comfortable one :)
Hello to everyone else I've missed....
re - toilet training - it has been really strange with Willow, she gets really upset when she wants to do a poo and points at the potty and indicates she wants to sit down, and will sit there and cry if I put her on it, but cry even more if I take her off. She will do poos in the potty but not wees. She can also gets a little bit upset at nappy changes, particularly if she has got a pooey nappy. I'm not sure whether to persist with the potty at this stage, particularly when she gets upset over it all...ideas anyone?? Charlize is still in nappies at night (and they are usually quite soaked) she will be 5 in Sept. and I have tried getting her up in the middle of the night to go - she just gets upset - and we have promised her a puppy if she has no more nappies at night ...but still no luck. Am thinking of just waiting til it gets warm again and putting her to bed with no nappies for a while. She didn't start really being toilet trained until after Willow was born (she was just over 3yo).
re - cot to bed. I put the toddler bed together the other day and tried it out with Willow. She jumped out of bed , went to the door opened it said "Bye" went through and closed it after her!! After trying not to laugh too much I ended up putting the mattress back in the cot (which I had thankfully left in the room assembled at this stage). Have tried a few times since but she will jump on the bed for a second and then get up and take off. Apparently at daycare she will sleep on the little toddler stretchers no problems. I think it will be a while before that happens here....She isn't climbing out of the cot at this stage so will wait a little longer before I persist with the toddler bed..Charlize was about 18mths when she went into the toddler bed and we seemed to have a lot fewer problems (but she was a much better sleeper all round)...
Hope that everyone else is well.
xJo

Hey all.... just thought i would pop in and say hi. We have been having a tough time with Bec being in the bed. Shes been really hard to settle at nights, taking up to 2 hours to get to sleep some nights. I am getting very frustrated with her so tonight i just left her and after about 20 minutes of her banging on the door she put herself to bed and went to sleep. So will do it again if I have to tomorrow night! She has also been having a few bad nights. I think she is getting her final 4 molars. I am struggling with the lack of sleep. I have noticed that shes starting to look at her tummy when she does a poo/wee/fart! She lifts her top up and makes faces! So hopefully she will be ready for tt when the weather warms up.
Hope everyone is well

Hey girls
Yes, I am hopeless at keeping up to date.
Mel - that sounds hard with Bec, and especially being pregnant as well with the sleep deprivation, I hope after a few nights of this, she understands what she has to do - SLEEP....and then it works for you guys.
Leigh - I am so sorry if I missed congratulating you - huge congratulations - how is it going with the three of them, especially with the hours your DH works - it's hard isn't it - my DH is in Africa - 4 to 6 weeks and back for two so I understand the whole dinner/bath/bed battle.
Kate - huge congratulations on your pregnancy hun.
Sorry I know I have missed people.
Well, just some news this way, I am 9 weeks pregnant, I had a scan at 8 weeks, all looking good, so now holding out for the 12 week scan, having the miscarriage in March has definitely made me alot more nervous this time around.
Okay, better go, so very tired lately :)
