Babies born~September 1st-15th 2009 #2

I spoke to soon about Ty's heart being fine. I took him for an echo and to see his cardiologist today and I am so worried it's making me sick! He needs to have a heart MRI this Summer because the Echo showed that his Aorta is narrowing. If it's even worse than they think, my baby will undergo surgery almost immediately. Otherwise, they will do a heart catheter and put a baloon up there and see if that helps stretch it out. They had added to his aorta already with his first heart surgery due to it being small to begin with. I'm so scared for him! I don't want him to have to deal with more heart problems.

Hi everybody I am back! I haven't quite got back in the swing of being at home again.....between that and i'm trying to read a book I am enjoying, i must admit I have neglected the computer!

First off welcome back Simone. I am sorry to hear that Lennox is having issues with his heart. I can just imagine how frightening it must be for you. Am glad that you are back to get a little support from the girls.

I have read back through the posts and have caught up on all the gossip! I'm not going to do persies but will as they pop up from now on. Am glad all the bubs are doing so well, can't believe that they're not newborns anymore.

The trip to NZ was great we had a ball. It was cold so we did spend an awful lot of time in the campervan but it was good family time. V and I were sick and both needed a course of antibiotics which was a nightmare to get into her!

She developed so much while we were away, the crawling got faster and she is now into everything. Lots of walking herself around the couches and the occasional trying to walk! Epic fail! I am glad that i am blessed with a baby that doesn't cry when she falls down....only when it is really bad - otherwise she is a tough cookie.

We came home and have baby bootcamp in place....I go back to work in 2 weeks and so have started to half ween and have started making her sleep in a cot. And things haven't been to horrid. She has BF's at 0700 and 1830 and trying to get her to take bottles in between. She wouldnt take formula so tried Goats milk which she drank a little bit so am trying to incorporate goats milk formula and see how we go. The sleeping in the cot has good and bad nights. The trip to NZ didn't cure her comfort feeding unfortunately! I have her now in a grobag and she has had a couple of 8pm to 5.30am's which she hasn't done since December so I am over the moon!
She has increased her solids a bit, but I must admit I am pretty bad and so she eats what we eat most of the time. She loves toast dunked in soup/curry so I give her that for lunch and she has a baby food for dinner but with melted cheese in it or else she won't eat it. Sausage rolls were a huge hit in NZ! The bumbo is gone as she managed to backflip out of it on holiday, thank goodness it was on the floor.

Anyway I have to fly and finish this book or I will never do the ironing (the pile is increasing day by day!)

Hope you are all well and your bubs are behaving - aren't the tantrums crazy! Scary they can bend themselves like a banana!

M2PNE - Sorry hon, I don't remember you but our group was quite big while we were preggers. Sounds like you have your hands full with all those boys. I'm guessing Ty was born with a heart condition? That must have been/is full on. Sorry to hear about your mum too, that is terribly sad. I'd be lost without my parents, I dread the day they pass. Was it expected? 59 is just so young, isn't it.

Connorsmum18 - Hi and welcome! So is DS your first/only bubs? Keeping you busy :lol: - stupid question really! One of the girls from the other September thread is in Townsville too. She is lovely and may be able to give you some advice about your new home town if you need it. I'll touch base with her and see if she minds me passing on your details.

Sanchez - WELCOME BACK HONEY!!! I've missed seeing you around the traps, nice to have you back! Sounds like your holiday was fantastic and V has advanced so much since you last posted!!! Go little V!! I just love you FB profile pic, it is the most gorgeous photo. She is one damn cute kid. So the sleeping is going really well and the weaning seems to be going well too. What progress you've made! I'm so impressed :clap: We canned the Bumbo a while ago too (once Izzy got really mobile) as Izzy had worked out how to get out of it! :o Thankfully her first 'incident' was at groun level too as we often had her on the bench (naughty, naughty - I know!) I still like to keep it handy for when we're in the backyard but it's pretty useless now to be honest. Great invention though but short life span. Did you try different types of formulas? Izzy's not too fussed but I do find Karicare agrees with her the most (tummy & poo wise) but my god it's sweet! I don't make a habbit of sampling them but had a taste when testing her bottle temp today and nearly gagged! How they drink that stuff has me buggered :shakehead: We are down to two breastfeeds a day now too. I didn't mean for it to happen but she seems to be self weaning. Part of me is sad the other part is quite enjoying having my boobs to myself for most of the day. I'm doing the early morning and last feed of the day too and one or two bottles in between. Seems to be working well and Izzy loves feeding herself (we have the handles on her Avent bottles) so it's been really easy. My baby is growing up!

Sangie - yay for Ethan crawling! Sounds like he became a pro overnight! Once they get going they don't like to stop, do they! What are you putting Ethan in for bed under his Dream Bag? The overnight temps over here have dropped a lot lately (we've had a few zeros - brrrr!) and Izzy seems to be getting cold despite us running an oil heater on full in her room. She currently wears a Wondersuit and spencer with her 2.5 tog. Her room is normally at 20 degrees but last night it stuck at 18 and she had fleecy trackies (with the feet) on over her Wondersuit and she still woke at 6am really chilly. She's been waking at 4am a lot but going back to sleep. I think we need to get a decent heater in her room as there is bugger all insulation in this old house. Anyway, was just interested to hear what you put Ethan in.

Kelly - glad to hear T is finally better! Interesting that the S26 made his poos runny, it often has the opposite affect due to the high iron content in it. That's great though and if it's agreeing with him then it sounds like you're onto a winner! He's such a cute little thing. He could be Izzy's male opposite, with the bald head and all! LOL!

Art - if my next baby is just sitting at this age then I will be one happy mummy! The though of chasing after an active toddler AND an active baby scares the hell out of me! Chasing after one is bad enough, how will I cope?! A probably knows she doesn't really need to move around as your DS probably brings everything to her. Why waste your energy on moving when you have an older brother for a slave? LOL!

Well, Izzy started walking with her walker a week ago - OMG. She just got up behind it on Saturday morning and off she went. I was still in bed and DH opened the door and said 'look at Izzy' and I sat up and said 'well where is she?' and then she appeared, walking up the hallway and straight into our bedroom, giggling all the way, proud as punch. We were gob smacked! It was so cute though and hilarious as she just couldn't stop laughing at herself! She's started standing on her own too, just a few seconds here and there, so I don't think she'll be too far off walking. God help us!

DH is pretty excited as she's finally started saying 'dada' and is yelling 'ma mum mum mum mum' again too. We get lots of 'bub, bub, bub' as well. She is definitely one vocal little lady. God help the pubs when she's old enough to go out. She's started bopping when she hears music too now so she'd fit in quite well at the pub really.

As I said above, it looks like Izzy is starting to wean herself. We're down to two BF a day now, early morning and just before bed. It is sad but nice too. I'm enjoying the freedom that comes with bottle feeding and we don't have to lug around much stuff if we go out as she's only having 3-4 milk feeds a day. It is a bit weird, given all the tough times I had in the beginning with BFing, just letting it go but it seems to be the right time. I expressed last night (as we'd been to the Food and Wine Show so I'd had a couple of drinks) and only got 50ml total - that was after a full day of no BFing. I know babies get more out than the pump but there mustn't be much in there now. Oh well

Anyone else check out the big toy sales? I went to all of them and was surprisingly restrained. I got the FP swing (the red and yellow one) to hang from our patio for Izzy now, a Cozy Coupe for either her first birthday or Christmas, the alphabet set of Peek-a-Blocks, a bag of 100 coloured balls (bargain at just $9.99 and although a PITA to clean up, they are already a huge hit) and also an activity box which is also a walker. It's a gorgeous wooden one from Toys R Us which has one of those wire bead things sitting on top. Not sure when I'll give her that, probably her birthday, although she'd be into it right now. I need to go back and get the Little People Farm Set which I've procrastinated over all week and have finally decided it would be a good investment. She loves it when we sing Old McDonald and the animals in the set make noises so it would go well with our crazy singing. I personally love the Little People toys too so it's a win-win - fun for Izzy and mummy! :lol:

I started pilates with my physio last week to try and sort out my hip (which we are pretty sure is just muscular, phew!) and get my strength up again. I had a terrible cough with the cold I had recently (I'm on asthma meds for the first time in my life!) and realised my pelvic floor ain't what it used to be. I didn't have any accidents but it felt awfully 'heavy' down there. My physio checked it all out with the real time ultrasound and I was pushing down on them instead of raising them - quite common for new mums apparently. Anyway, we're working to strengthen them and my core muscles so we can move onto toning me up. Not that we are planning on getting pregnant again any time soon but I want my body to be in much better shape for our next pregnancy. My back and hips were bad enough when I was pregnant with Izzy, I'd hate to think how bad they'd be if I were to fall pregnant in this state.

I'd better go and do something productive while Miss Iz is having a sleep. We've been out all weekend which has been lovely but the chores have been somewhat neglected. Time to get DH up from his nap - men!

Sanchez, good to see you back. I saw a FB pic on the glacier - did you go to fox or franz? My BIL is a pilot at Franz, so if you had a young tall guy driving it was probably him. Congrats on the overnighters too, I am sure you will be happy for her to keep that up when you are back at work. WTG on the new tricks too.

Taurean, sounds like we have the same presents picked for the girls! We got a cozy coupe for them to share but I couldn't wait until their birthdays so they have it now (and DS busted me bringing it inside lol). A loves it, she sits in there and drives it backwards. She also holds onto the back and uses it as a walker. We also got the Little People Animal Farm mega set for her. I don't mind spending a bit extra for something that will stand the test of time and they play with them for years and years. We did have a ball pit for her but I just packed it up because I was sick of DS spreading the bloody balls all over the house!

Did anyone else see that another member that has a bub born on the same day as Izzy and A has just had another baby! I sooooo can't imagine that!

All good here now, A was sick for a few days and OMG she is the sookiest baby ever! She didn't sleep for two nights because she had a stuffy nose and eventually I gave up trying to get her to lay down and slept sitting up on the couch so she could be upright. Seriously, it was only a cold but you would have thought it was the end of the world! She didn't feed from one evening until the morning the day after (two nights, one day) because of her nose and possibly a sore throat - my boobs felt like concrete! Painful, but they haven't looked that good in a long time lol. I suddenly see the allure of a boob job!

Still no teeth, still no tricks!

Hey ladies! I'm around but not a lot of time for posting at the moment. DH is overseas so I'm extra busy being a 'single' mum for two weeks. Half way there and counting down the days till he gets home. Whenever he goes away I get a sense of what single mother's go through and boy, do I have a lot of respect for them LMAO!

Taurean, Izzy sounds like she is going great guns! How cute is the walking?! Ethan started cruising and using his walker too last week. I swear I'm amazed by his progress lately. In the space of 4 weeks he crawled, pulled himself up and is now cruising. Scary!! Ethan wears a wondersuit and singlet suit under his dream bag. But even though its freezing here at nights he is a hot blooded little thing and doesn't seem to feel the cold. But he also has the helmet which keeps his head toasty. We had a little oil heater for DD which worked a treat so maybe try that? YAY for the toy purchases!

Sanchez, wow on V's progress! Glad you all had a great time and good to have you back! OMG at the bumbo incident but sounds like they all figure out eventually how to escape lol! E did too so that was the end of that and I gave it to our neighbour for her little one. Yep we have tantrums here too, usually when he realises his breakfast/lunch/dinner is finished lol!

Art, glad A is feeling better but ouchies on the full boobies :( I have no idea what a cozy coupe is (clearly I haven't been paying attention to the toy catalogues). We are thinking of getting a trampoline for both kids for christmas so I might head to the shops this week and check them out (hopefully there will still be some left at the sales!)

I can't believe my little man is going to be 10 months this week and I have lots of people asking me what we are doing for his first birthday. I'm still in denial that he's going to be one lol! Has anyone started thinking about parties?

Yes...my DS is my first. Took me many years to find the right Dad and so I've become a Mum much later than I wanted to but things are as they are meant to be and can't wait for #2 to come along...hopefully very soon. As far as I know I'm not preggie...yet! :crossfingers:

Well, yes Connor is definately keeping us busy. Certainly needs more of my time than when he was younger so Im basically neglecting the housework til he goes to bed (he is usually begging for his cot by 6pm!) and then I have a few hours to do the stuff that takes the most time.....and get it done twice as fast.
He is so close to walking that it could be any day... stands on his own for quite a while and has taken the odd shaky step...but not yet officially walking I don't think.

We hit the toy sales to but only did BigW. Freaky how "forceful" some people get when there is a bargain to be had. Have to say it wasn't too bad for our fiest one.....first of many I expect!

Well...hubby is on night shift so might use the time to get back to the housework and fold/iron the washing....bliss..NOT!

Welcome to Gabby and Connorsmum and welcome back to Simone ( I was in October thread when pregnant but Sam arrived early so moved forward a month). Looking forward to getting to know you and your bubs over the next few weeks. I joined this thread later in the day and the girls are super friendly and made me feel right at home straight away.

Sanchez welcome back. You were missed. Sounds like you had a fab holiday and i just love the new profile piccie on FB. We did a South Island holiday about 5 or 6 years ago now and loved it. Unfortunately weather was too bad when we were in Fox to take the helicopter onto the glacier so we did that from Lake Tekapo instead. It was my first time in a helicopter then so am dead impressed that V has done hers before she was even 9 months old. Congrats on all the development that she did when you were away sounds like she is coming on in leaps and bounds. Fingers crossed that those all nighters will become the norm for you especially with going back to work. Are you going back part time first?

Taurean Izzy just makes me laugh. Just when the rest of us think we've caught up with her she develops a new trick. How cute is the walking I love the image of her being proud as punch of herself walking into the bedroom. Will she walk holding your hands too or just with the walker at the moment?. I guess this will mean she will become more and more frustrated when she is in the stroller for long periods as she'll just want to be out and on the go herself. You've got me thinking now about what I should have Sam sleeping in as I just have him in a fleece all in one with feet under his bag. I've never really felt that he was cold though as we did put air con into his room though so the temp doesn't change at night about the only thing that is good about having to go to him at 3 in the morning. Hope you had fun at your Food and Wine festival it is amazing how when you go the same events pre and post kids just how much things change. We have to behave now! Good purchasing in the sales. Looks like a few of us are thinking on the same lines. I got the Little People Animal Farm too but bought Sam a little 3 in 1 trike instead of the Cozy coupe. Its one that changes as the baby gets older with a long handle for us to push. At times though I question why I buy toys when Sam just by passes them to make a bee line and play with the bag they came in or the dogs smelly chewed toys or anything he can get his hands on that he isn't supposed to have! I think I'll leave the big bag of balls for the spring when we can have them outdoors. I've do enough picking up as it is without adding them to the mix.

Sangie hope your remaining time as a single Mum goes okay. Doing it on your own with one would be tough enough but two - you are amazing. Would highly recommend the trampoline as a present. All kids seem to just love them and they'll get great use out of it. It can also be a place you can escape to if they all get too much! take away the chair so they can't climb in! (Only joking!!!) Well done to Ethan just how much has he come on the last four weeks. He'll be running rings around you before you know it.

Art too funny about the boob job. Glad A is feeling a bit better now but poor you for having to sleep sitting up on the couch. Did you manage to sort out the sleeping problems you were having with both waking? Hope when the teeth come though they'll make a silent entry.

Kelly how are you going love. How is T? Has his eardrum got better. Poor little thing really had been through the ringer for a good few months it just seemed to be one thing after another.

AFU well both Sam and I have had a cold now for last week and half that we just don't seem to be able to shake. He is a proper little snot monster at times. Though me coughing and spluttering over him probably isn't helping. He has been off his food for the past week as well. Very very difficult to get anything to him which means of course he is waking at night as he's hungry. Like Taurean we are down to 2 BFs per day (morning and evening) and 2 bottles. It just became too hard to try to feed him if I was out at the other times. Am happy for the morning and evenings to continue for quite a while especially if he is waking at night due to hunger. As I mentioned earlier at least Sam's room is warm the kitchen would be freezing to have to make up a bottle in middle of night. I am guessing that is is a combination of cold plus his next two top teeth are definitely on their way that is causing the lack of eating. It makes for tiring meals though as I try numerous different dishes to see what he might take a spoon of. Doesn't seem to make a difference whether is spoon or finger food just shuts his little mouth and looks away. I keep telling myself he won't let himself starve! Am struggling at the moment to find a routine that works. The one we were on which really worked just doesn't work anymore as he is staying up for longer in the mornings so I just need to work out new times for millk and solids that fits in with his sleeping. Just when you think you've got it all worked out .......

Well the big news from our end is that the little man is finally on the move. We started off backwards but have now most definitely discovered forward gear. He is so determined when he spies something at 50 paces and makes a beeline for it. Just as well I was prepared and had gates on the ready. Our house is on 3 levels so have two sets of stairs I need to block off. I can't believe just what babies can spot and decide the need to investigate. I am seriously thinking about going round on my hands and knees to check out stuff that I'd just dismiss as being uninteresting when looked at from above! Chris caught him the other day before as he was just starting to bite into a tea light candle that he had taken out of little wooden ball candle holders that I didn't think he could even see - not only did he spot them, but pushed through a whole of toys to get to them and then took the candle out! Certainly nothing wrong with his eyesight. He is also starting to pull himself up on things but no crusing yet but probably a case of watch this space ............

Am very disappointed as he still isn't saying mama. Perhaps I should stop saying it to him as maybe he thinks I say it enough for both of us so he needed bother. Looks of other babble and like Izzy is quite a chatty little fella.

I know you Kiwi girls will laugh at us but is it just my imagination or is it very very cold this winter. Someone told me but I don't know if its true or not that its the coldest winter since 1983. Its such a shame that the concept of central heating never caught on in most of Australia or certainly didn't in Sydney. I used LOVE my radiators in Ireland. Stick my PJs on them so they were toasty warm before I got into bed.

Okay going to hit the hay early tonight. So night night to all sweet dreams and kisses for all the babies.

Taurean Thank you! Yes, Ty was born with a heart defect. Here's a link to his story about what he had. It's easier than writing it. Also my mom had been sick for a long time. She had emphasema and heart failure and was in the ICU for about 6 months and was eventually released because she was doing so well. She managed to stay home with no hospitalizations for those 9 months. She went to take a nap and never woke up. My sister who was the closest to her out of all my siblings had to identify her.

My son Trent just found our pool pump parts today so we are filling our pool up. Because I was pregnant when the pool was closed out the pieces weren't with the motor. We missed the month of June to swim, but hopefully we got the rest of July and all of August.

:oops: Sorry I forgot you have winter now! I'll never talk about my pool again, but when we get winter here we sometimes get way below freezing and terrible wind chills that cause schools to be cancelled. Kids are happy, but not me so much when that happens!

Sanchez - we missed you while you were gone! Ironic considering you were physically closer to me :-p Sounds like V is changing huh, lots of things to look forward to. I hope bootcamp is going well. Are you going back to midwifery? I can't recall if you had started or just done the training. You'll have a whole new perspective now anyway. Whats the plan for V while you're at work? Thats so cute that she loves cheese in everything -they all have their own little quirks hey... Hope the tan-tys are under control? Tadhg grizzles when he wants to do something (usually stand up) but he hasn't started the full on tantrums yet.

Taurean - wow Izzy is developing in leaps and bounds. Don't you love it how they get all proud of themselves for doing new things! Tadhg thinks he is so cool for not holding on to his toys /toy box with his hands standing up - he just leans a hip into it lol. He can just walk with the walker, but not too good at pushing it along unless i help a bit. I think its hard to get the right pace. The s26 experience was a one off - we are now back to very firm BM's and he cries everytime, the Dr said he has a small fissue so he is on a bowel loosener and having lots of prunes & raisins - still not good, poor wee thing. If it wasn't for that I might be claiming a near perfect child!
Maybe I should try Karicare and see if it helps. This week I got a new sippy cup with a straw, and he LOVES it! so I think that will help too.

Art - man thats crazy talk having another baby already - eeck. I am planning on waiting a bit longer than i originally thought now, and have just been told we have to plan around RWC lol!! So no babies in Sept/Oct 2010 - best be after that, so Daddy can go to the Rugby. Poor A not coping well with getting sick. I'm so glad T seems to be fine now, albeit a bit snotty - long may it last!

Sangie - we are just planning a small party for T, although i bet it will be bigger than i'm thinking, as now family are starting to say they will make the effort to come (from different cities) which puts more pressure on! haha. We're not planning much, just a morning tea at our place, and I will try and do a cake - unless its egg free T wont be trying it anyway.

AM - hey! we are great now thanks. T is really so much better, and I have him on immunity drops from a natropath - no idea if they work, but he is healthy at the mo - so will keep giving them! Sorry to hear Sam is sick though :( Tadhg barely ate solids for over 2 weeks - and just when i was getting really worried he got better and ate again like a switch was flicked. Hopefully Sam will do the same soon. Woohoo on the crawling too! Still waiting here...

Conors mum - welcome! Wow 6pm in bed - how many sleeps does he have in the day. I think my DH would be sad if T went to bed that early, as he is working regular hours so he would barely see him - but the idea sounds nice! Sounds like your DH is doing shiftwork anyway, so works out nicely.

I've already said heaps - but I want to add that I had my first full night's sleep in a long while last night. T didn't wake at all after going down at 7pm, and didn't even stir enough to wake me - and somehow I didn't wake up just to check him, to pee, to have a drink etc NICE! I woke up by myself at 7:10am and T was still asleep! When we got up I realised he had sprouted a tooth overnight too - no fuss at all, what an angel :D
OK better go do something with my afternoon off. We have a mega weekend with my mum, Tim's mum and Tim's twin brother with his wife all coming to stay for varying lengths of time!

Sangie, the cosy coupe's are those red and yellow cars that they drive around in. Good for hours of fun around here. I haven't really thought much about birthdays, but will probably do a combo with DS because their birthdays are 5 days apart

Connersmum, wow at a 6pm bedtime! We have battled to get DS (nearly 3) to be at a respectable time - finally have it down to 7-8ish. Miss A can go any time between 7 and 11.30pm! Good luck with TTC another bub - I started trying again when DS was this age and ended up with them almost two years apart. I love the age gap we have, it works really well for us.

AM, congrats on the crawling! My father in Sydney was complaining of the cold too - something has gone crazy this year because it hasn't been that cold so far this year here. Over the weekend it was tee-shirt weather! That said the past couple of days it has been getting a bit colder - currently 3 degrees.

Kelly, yay for a full nights sleep! Sooo jealous! And OMG at a no fuss tooth!

My nana passed away last night, so we are off to my hometown tomorrow for the funeral on Saturday. I was very close to her, it doesn't feel real. It seems like she will still be there waiting for me to visit. But she was 96 and in a way I am glad for her - she was trapped in her old useless body and she just wanted to go. I will miss her, but Miss A has her name as a middle name and every time I write it out I have a little moment to remember my beautiful nana.

We were just down visiting a couple of weekends ago and A finally realised that she can fall asleep in the car so hopefully she remembers and we don't have to stop a zillion times to try to get her to sleep.

Not much else is happening here. She is getting very quick walking around holding my hand, her and DS have been playing a hide and seek/catch game where DS hides and A runs around to catch him. It is very cute. She can stand by herself for about 5 seconds now but only if she is positioned correctly.

Still no teeth!

Gabby, welcome! James and Ethan have the same birthdate and were born not too far from each other. I had him at Knox. He was born at 8.14pm and my DH was telling me to cross my legs for another 45mins so he would be born at 9pm on 09.09.09. I think you could probably guess what my reaction to that comment was! :lol:

AM, hope you have both recovered from your cold. I have one too at the moment but thankfully Ethan hasn't got it (and hoping it stays that way!). Yep I think the trampoline is going to be a good investment lol. I can imagine both of them not wanting to get off it! OMG at the candle, that is hilarious! It's a whole new ball game when they're on the move isn't it?

Well not a lot going on here, counting down the days till DH gets home (only 4 now!) and trying to shake this cold which will just not go away. Thankfully the kids haven't got it which is something I guess. Ethan is cruising like a pro now and walks around our corner lounge suite with a huge grin on his face, he's pretty proud of himself lol! He also crawls at lightning speed now and its gorgeous to watch him chasing after his sister (usually giggles while he's chasing her!). He's mastered waving now and waves 'bye bye' to everything including the cars that drive past our house and the postman. We are struggling a bit with sleep again and I have a feeling that he is about to drop a day sleep, his morning nap is becoming a struggle and only lasting 20mins. I can't remember when DD went to one day sleep but I have a feeling it was about now. Is everyone else still on two day sleeps?

Well going to get an early night and hope that Mr E sleeps through. Nighty night :)

Lennox is 10 months old and he is thinking about walking. I can just tell! He's also in 18 month clothes now because the 12 month is getting a bit snug.

Big welcome to Gabby, happy to see some fresh faces join the group. Awesome day for James to be born 9.09.09! My girl was born at 9.09pm but missed it by a day she was on the 10th!

We are all dying here of sickness. Which i am just so sick of because V and I were sick in NZ. I am on my second course of antibiotics let alone everything else I am putting in....nasal spray, cold & flus, vit c - but i feel as if I am not getting any better. Woe is me!

Sangie - I hope the time goes quick before your DH comes back.....i don't think i would cope, so you are doing a fantastic job! I keep on sort of thinking about the 1st birthday and then i get overwhelmed and so i put it to the back of my head for another day. I have picked the cake I am going to do. I am starting out fairly easy, it's a caterpiller from an old Womens Weekly Barbeque cookbook from yonks ago. I am no masterchef so it needs to be simple.....no doubt you may see the end result on FB in a few months!

Art we did fly from Franz and he was tall and skinny so it could have been him, if it was tell him he needs to scrub up on his photography skills! Our pilot took a few family shots and they are shockers! So how is beautiful A doing? Did i read she has no teeth still?! All the better for breastfeeding! V has 6 extremely sharp choppers and seems biting is a new favourite thing to do - not cool! She bit my Dh for the first time tonight and he squeeled like a little girl! Made me feel better! PMSL at the boob job! Mine certainly don't look like they used to but i fear how they will look after a couple of more kids!

I think i amdoing the wrong reply because it never lets me write much and keeps flipping to the top of my reply......not too sure but i am keeping on going!

Taurean - Babe hows things? Your Izzy is so cute, and quite the go getter! I did try about 3 different formulas before i realised that it was the smell that was putting V off and so ended up searching for an alternative that was less malodourous. She usually still won't drink them if I am around, she will go without milk for thewhole day and wait for me to feed her at the end of the day - cheeky buggar! But last night when i was at work she did drink a bottle for Fred at about 8pm when she got really hungry obviously and realised it was that or nothing. Not sure what happened but most of it ended up inside and outside the Grobag! Fred doesn't know when she threw up but there was a lot of it. She had the hiccups apparently so whether that triggered it or she was crying but he won't tell me! How is your house going? Settled in fine?

Kelly - Yes I have returned to work! EEEEEEKKKK. Had my first shift last night even though i am sick they were desperate, was nice to use my brain for a few hours! I had finished my training and had worked for about 6 months before I went on Mat leave. I was doing a program where i rotated through all the areas every 3 months, but I am only going back 2 days a week and so the progam is not really cut out for such short hours so I have a permenant position on the postnatal ward with the mums and bubs. I was sooooo blown away by how tiny the babys are. I swear V was never that small! Oh they were divine. T has an anal fissure? they are as painful as anything (if it is the same as an adult one?) poor little man. V was always constipated with rock hard poos but now she eats weetbix for brekky they are soft everytime now.

NW3 - how are you and Sam doing? Any better on the cold front? I am feeling your pain, nothing worse than being sick! So glad to hear Sam is on the move, isn't it funny how they jut click and get it one day. I still haven't asked you how your holiday was? Has he said Mama yet? Well V doesn't actually say it to me, says it to strangers however!

Ok girls......what am i doing wrong?

When i type more than about 10 lines it flicks to the top and i can't see what i've written and it is SOOOOOOOO painful.

AFU - So the first day of work went well and am supposed to work tomorrow but am feeling too sick and it was horrid breathing germs on a 2 hour old bub! Nothing much else going on with us, my Dh said i cut her bangs too short...i don't think so and who cares her hair grows so fast anyway! I must admit i am pretty bad with the toys, and i don't know what she'll like, so if you girls tell me which are your good toys i can just copy you!
V is into everything. He major accidents have been slamming a door on her fingers, falling on the corner of a drawer she was holding onto, her wheelie bin of toys collapsed on her when she tried to stand up, she got into the cat food and ate a bit before i got to her! but the scariest thing is she has started lettin go of stuff and tries to walk to me which is more like she takes a step and goes face first. She does it when im watching but im petrified that she will do it without me knowing and go face first.

Anyhoo, my electric blanket is calling.

Sanchez - yep anal fissure, poor little thing. Although this week we are doing much better. The new sippy cup with a straw is getting a lot more use and T is drinking way more water, plus I've cut banana out of his diet (they kept giving it at daycare). Just changed to Karicare yesterday and cut him to 3 bottles a day - so that may also help. We are mixing up breakfast but weetbix today actually went down quite well :)
Man these accidents are scary huh - T has had many near misses, but i know they will come thick and fast soon! Also - we had our first real tanty this week! Thanks for the warning lol - for some reason he didn't want to get in the bath and carried on like he was on fire - then once in, would not get out haha! Glad i knew it was coming, or i might have been worried.
Wow - must be amazing going back to seeing all the newborns and bush-whacked mothers wondering what the hell happened. You'll have a totally different perspective now I guess? Hope you love having time for something outside of home :)

Hi Girls!

I'm going to admit that for the first time since New Years Day 2009, I'm hungover :shakehead: I'm not that bad but I definitely felt a bit ordinary this morning and the smell of last nights curry in the fridge this morning almost made me barf. Red wine is evil!!! On a brighter note, Baby Einstein DVD's rock :clap:

So please understand why I can't be arsed doing persies today. I'm feeling pretty normal now but I am still in my pj's and it's ten to four in the afternoon! It's kind of fun though as I haven't had such a lazy day in a long time.

We are doing really well and Miss Busy Bee is still keeping us on our toes. She's learnt to clap her hands and thinks she's very clever doing so. She starting to work out to clap her hands when she hears a 'hands clapping' song too (ie 'If you're happy and you know it....) - it's so cute!

Miss Iz is officially into cupboards now too. She worked out draws a while back but cupboards and doors are her target this week. We really must put those kid proof latches on the doors.

Still no more teeth (she only has two) so I'm dreading the arrival of half a dozen or more at once. I guess on the brightside, the sleepless nights will be combined which has got to be a good thing, right?

We are starting to plan her first birthday party. We are just having an afternoon bash at home with family and close friends. Nothing too fancy but it'll be fun I'm sure. My inlaws are arriving for 10 days the day before the party which is fair enough, she is their grandchild, but they drive me nuts. Well my MIL does anyway. I'm already dreading it, she will be so painful. She phoned yesterday and wanted to talk to 'Junior' (WTF? She refuses to refer to her as Izzy but Junior is ok???) and DH explained she was sleeping so she asked if we could phone later in the week and put her on for a chat (um, she's 10 months old) so she will know her grandmother's voice before they arrive. What a twit! Iz is great with most people anyway, she doesn't really suffer from separation anxiety, but I think MIL will just have to realise that they are strangers to Iz and no amount of 'chatting' over the phone at this age will change that. I'm in for a world of pain while they are here.

Izzy is having a lot of bump and falls these days as well but she's also a tough little cookie, hardly ever whinges or cries. I think the falls will get worse though, especially as she's started climbing :o She has worked out if she pushes her trike over to the couch, she can climb up on the seat then up onto the couch! Far out

My dodgy hip is fixed thanks to the pilates I've been doing with my physio. Yerhar! I've been going just once a week with a friend - our girls sit in their prams and entertain the receptionists while we work out - it's great!. It's embarassing how weak I am though, although my instructor completely understands. My pelvic floor had almost caved in :rofl: so we are working to strengthen that too. The bad cough I had recently really made me regret not doing my exercises while I was pregnant!

I dusted off our Wii the other day and have been spending a bit of time on it lately, particularly on the Wii Fit. I'm determined to get my body back in shape before summer. It's not too bad but the excess tummy flab is really gross. I have no idea how the stars get their toned bods back so soon after having kids. I think there is a lot more tummy tuckin' going on in Hollywood than what us normal mums know about.

I'm currently weaning Izzy off her evening feed and am only doing the first feed of the day going forward. I'd like to continue to her first birthday then see where we are at. The morning feed is our most relaxed feed so I don't mind doing that one but the evening feed had become a nightmare lately. Izzy was so restless and a bit scary as she would attack my boob like she was molesting it!! She managed to stand up feeding the other night and you know what, it just looked all too weird for my liking. She had started biting and pinching my nipples too which was not fun at all. When she first did it, it was like she'd only just discovered my nipple. The look on her face was priceless, very 'Wow, what on earth is that thing?' then she pinched it and stretched it out and let it 'ping' back. Ouchies! Yes, it's time we went our separate ways dear night feed.

I have to get out of my pjs. I feel ferral!

LMAO Taurean! DS used to do the nipple stretch too - with his teeth! Ouch!

Sorry guys, not up to much in the way of personals. Sleep here is absolute crap. For the past two nights A has been waking every 20-40 minutes and will only resettle with a feed. I am sick to death of having her hanging off me! I tried walking her around instead of feeding but as soon as she wakes fully she is up for 3-4 hours - not impressed at 12.30pm! Oh well, this too shall pass.....

A seems to be dropping down to one day nap which I am quite happy about because she is doing 1.5-2 hours rather than the 20 minute naps that she was doing for months. Not much in the way of progress - still immobile. She walks pretty well holding my hand and can almost get a run going if she is after DS but apart from that she isn't doing much. 10.5 months and still no teeth!

Evening all

This is probably going to be a short one as am falling asleep here in front of the fire. We had an early wake up call this morning with the little man deciding that his day was going to start at 5.30 and he wasn't going back to sleep. Now while dawn break sounds lovely and romantic I'm quite happy to spend it under my doona at the moment. My darling hubbie was good though and took over after I started brekkie so I managed to sneak another few hours in slumber land.

Art you poor love you should as though you are going through a nightmare. I can't believe when I complain when Sam wakes once a night how on earth are you surviving with waking every 20-40 minutes. If she in the bed with you or do you actually have to get up? Hope you are managing to get a bit of a snooze when she sleeps during the day. Wow on A breaking into a run to follow her brother. Looks like she will just bypass the whole crawling lark and go straight to walking. Hope it gets better soon sending sleepy vibes your way x

Taurean hope your hangover isn't too bad. I have turned into such a lightweight so don't think I could actually drink enough these days to have a hangover. Its glasses I count now rather than bottles - lol. Know exactly what you mean with playing with nipple. Sam does the same. Looks at it in amazement like he has never seen it before and pings it and laughs. No way buddy this is NOT a toy. Hope things aren't too bad when your ILs come - sounds like bit of a nightmare. Just come on here and vent and we can try to make it better for you. Not a problem that we have with both sets of parents living on the other side of the world.

Sanchez hope your colds are better and you are settling back into work okay. Are you doing nights or do you have V in childcare. I've been putting my head in the sand with regards to organising this for Sam and looking for a new job.

Kelly hope you and T are going good. How is the anal fissure? Is this something that will naturally repair itself over time? Poor little chap it must be awful to be in pain like that. I think apricots are also supposed to be good for encouraging easy movement. Did you find it difficult to get T to take water. I really struggled to find a sippy cup that he liked I lost count of how many I actually bought for him to try.

Sangie hope all is good at your end and your lovely husband has come home to give you a well earned break from single motherhood! I have every respect for women who do it on their own day after day it is not easy.

Okay been on longer than I intended to definitely going to bed now. Will be back tomorrow with update on whats happening our neck of the woods. Nighty night all and sleepy sweet dreams to all.

I have a slow hour or so at work so dropped in to say 'hi'.
Tadhg is sick again :( Poor wee thing came down with it on Friday night and has been a bit miserable since. Slight ear infection in both sides, eye infections, and copious amounts of snot - nice!
Friday night he was up from 12-1:30 unable to lay down without crying, which is very unusual. He is generally so tired so just falls asleep whereever. I was about to give up on sleep when the 2nd dose of pamol kicked in and he was ok - went to sleep until 7:40! Crazy. Since then he has been a bit wakeful, but not bad - so its just getting through the snotty bit, and he is more sensitive than usual and not eating a lot, again. We cut down to 3 bottles recently as he was doing so well with solids - and i am a little concerned again about fluids now - but he wont even finish the bottles i'm giving - so i dont think i will bother adding one in. Last few days its been about 450ml total per day - plus some water.
In fact he is loving his sippy cup, AM we got a nuby one with a straw, as i found he couldnt lift his old one to get water into the nipple. He loves using the straw and can hold the bottle himself now, which is handy. He still refuses sometimes, and has the shake of the head for 'no' down pat - lol. He thinks he is funny when i say 'no' and he shakes his head. I am trying not to say no too often or to laugh!
The fissure should heal itself apparently - we have some antiseptic cream, but think thats to avoid infection rather than fix it. His BM vary so much now I really don't know whats up and having a cold cant help. Will keep on trying with the water, fruit (grapes are also good), and lactulose syrup, also changed to Karicare for 2 of his 3 feeds.
Cracked out the AB booties this week - seemed to help, as they kicked butt ;-)

Taurean - you go girl on the hangover, hope you enjoyed the wine on the night! T wont sit still very long to watch TV, maybe 10-15 mins at the max, about the same as I get by placing him near his pile of books and letting him unstack them - great fun apparently. funny Iz has stopped in the teeth dept, there seems no way to predict them huh. Tadhg has 4 now, it looks so funny - really changes their faces. Great news about the hip - i want to get into pilates too, you can be my inspiration! I went clothes shopping last weekend and was a bit horrified at the sight of myself in the mirrors - maybe the lighting was bad :-p I am however running, just doesnt tighten up those saggy bits!

Art - you poor love! I can only send positive vibes that A comes out of this habit soon. and also, you could check out the website thesleepstore - they have good articles and will answer emails / FB queries if you are interested. Good news that day sleeps have improved though! Is A content to sit and play, or does she want to be walking and standing all the time? Tadhg cant crawl and just wants to stand up and walk about, so its quite tiring closely supervising all the time! He will do short stints sitting to play / in the exersaucer and he is great when we are walking / in the car / shopping trolley. So maybe i just need to get out more!

Poor T being so unwell. No wonder he's off his food poor wee man. So awful seeing them that sick.
Kelly how is T's poos situation going? Has he had anymore weetbix? Did it make a difference at all? I am glad my child isnt the only one throwing tantrums. Getting her dressed is a nightmare, and she won't let me touch her hair so she goes al-natural and looks as if she is wearing a helmet of hair!

Taurean - PMSL visualising you almost puking at the indian in the fridge! I don't know how big drinkers manage to get up and cope with having to play with the kids! I hear you with the Baby Einstein. We have about 40 of their disks (friend burnt the set for me) and they are a godsend. Your MIL does sound like a twit. End of story! I hear you on getting the body back, my body is REFUSING to lose weight, however now i go to work i am always too busy to eat so maybe that may help things along! No wonder i was as thin as a rake I only ate 1 meal a day and lived on Up and Go's! I will beat your bad cough story and the pelvic floors.......WAY TMI COMING....... i was at work and sneezed and felt my tampon shoot out! Ummmmm hows them pelvic floors now Bridget....not so unnecessary after all! F*** ME! Yeah the nipple biting was why I am trying to wean, it's not happening though. You should be glad Iz only has a couple of teeth, believe me 6 clamped around the nipple is no fun, and she always laughs - tell you what I aint laughing. Good luck though. Tell you what Izzy sounds like a busy baby. I haven't even begun to teach her to clap - have always been way too focused on waves, high fives and kisses! Go Izzy!


Art - how is the sleeping going any better? A sounds like V a lot. That is why we are now in the horrid habit of feeding all night long. I am hoping yours will pass....shes not teething is she? So crazy she is so gummy! Maybe she will go straight to walking. I always thought she would be the first at everything after she sat up so soon!

NW3 - My DH does shift work as well, he does 4 days on - 4 days off so when he has days off I do a couple of days and he looks after V. I have her booked into day care at 15months when there is a spot. But i think it only goes from 9-2.30 so i wouldn't be able to work on those days anyway. I can understand your hesitation to look for a new job.

AFU...work is ok. I felt like quitting on my second day back, same stuff - too many women to look after and not enough midwives. Neverending. But V is handling me not being here very well except that when i am here she is clingy x10. Her sleeping remains so bad I am considering giving her a particular pain killer that has a slight sedative effect....i know how bad does that sound but i am grasping at straws, i thought it might get her into a pattern.
Seeing the beautiful newborns has made me clucky again.......not a chance until i get some sleep!

Sanchez I should know better than to drink tea while reading your posts, the tampon story nearly resulted in me spitting tea all over the computer! How many days do you work? Fingers crossed that Miss V starts sleeping better for you, lucky they are so adorable hey, it makes the lack of sleep worthwhile (well sometimes lol!).

Art, how is life in your household? At least A is doing better with her day sleep, one step at a time! It sounds like she will go straight to walking!

Taurean, haha on the hangover! It's been a while since I've done that! I can't imagine having a hangover and looking after two kids, its hard enough when I'm feeling well! OMG at the climbing, that's insane! I will never forget the day I found 14 month old DD standing on our kitchen bench on her tiptoes trying to reach the light! She dragged a chair over, climbed the chair, then onto the bench and all in the time it took me to do a quick loo trip. I still think of what might have happened if she fell. So be careful lol! I hear you on the tummy flab. Two kids in under 2.5yrs does not do nice things to your tummy. I think I need a personal trainer to kick my butt into gear (a nice toned looking guy I reckon!). Ah well a girl can dream lol!

NW3, I hope the 5.30 starts haven't been a regular thing. Ethan used to wake at around that time and I would just bring him into bed with us and he'd usually go back to sleep for another hour or two. Now he seems to get that he has to sleep longer lol! Well fingers crossed it continues. Yes DH is home thankfully, I was going quietly insane! It didn't help that I ended up getting sick as well, not fun!

Ethan is teething and letting us all know about it! One of the top teeth in cutting which must be really painful as the bottom ones didn't seem to bother him too much. He has been grinding his teeth together which drives me bonkers. Apart from that all is good here! Ethan has learnt to clap and do 'high fives'. He is so fast at cruising the furniture now and will let go and take a couple of steps on his own before going back for the safety of the couch, cute but scary! He also only has one nap some days so I don't think it will be long before he drops the morning nap permanently. I don't mind as long as he has a decent afternoon sleep and none of the 40min powernaps! Gotta go, take care all and enjoy the rest of the week :D
