Well we had poo!! Yay haha never been so excited to see poo in my life! Quite a bit of it too as u can imagine since its around 5 days worth haha.. Well I had my first go with the breast pump tonight and I can say that was a waste of $80! Its soo painful and awful to use I can't see myself using it again!! I can hand express it just takes a long time tho the pump wasn't getting that much either which is strange because if he's feeding and comes off I seem to have more milk running then that.. 8m not sure what im gonna do about it all.. Probably see my gp on monday and see what he thinks atm I knw he's putting on weight and he does look nice n healthy will just try n offer him as much as I can and try and draw out his feeds and hope we get more wet nappies that way I think coz even the milk I did get when we fed it to him with the cup like they showed me he got horrible hiccups and wind and was really upset.. Gosh its all so much to think about.. Anyway gotta cut it short coz he's hungry :)

i just wanted to let you know i hate expressing and don't get much either. tbh, i haven't expressed at all since jimmy was born, as i really hated doing it with lewis so i try to avoid it as much as possible.
just keep putting him on your boob hun, as much as you can. i found a good idea was to put lewis to bed at night, then just sit in front of the tv in my rocking chair and feed feed feed- i'd sit there till 11pm some nights- in fact, i still do now! i sat up feeding jimmy watching the footy till 11.15pm last night- then he slept till about 5am.
i would also try giving him a really long feed while asha is having her day nap. just feed as much as you can - it's not like this forever though, they get more and more efficient and your supply gets better and then they only need short feeds less often. you've just gotta put in the hard yards now :) sounds like you're doing a fantastic job

Noni, I had to wonder about the cup feeding thing at this stage - he should be on the boob all the time, not mucking around with a cup. Plus the logic of what they said is baffling to me - if he only needs to have that much more each feed, why not just keep him on the boob longer - especially if you do still have milk coming out kwim?

Yeh I think im gonna ditch their advice and go with just feeding as much as I can.. I fed him for aaaages last night was up till about 12 and he slept till 6 woke for a feed and then slept till 9 he seemed very content will keep having check ups with my gp to make sure he's ok but think their advice may be a little silly

Remember, those night feeds (from about 10 pm to about 3am) are the ones that boost your supply the most. I know it's tempting in the middle of the night to get them off the boob asap, a bit of comfort sucking (ie leave them on the boob even after they have finished feeding and dozed off) at that time of night will do wonders for your supply - just try to be flexy about the rest of your day if you can. :hug: I guess the expressing is good advice for boosting your supply if he's not feeding often - you could always start freezing what you express (lots of little tiny layers eventually makes enought for a feed later on).

Rainy where did you get the egg thingy? Want one for Lisbeth, I know she will be fascinated with it.

PP I would only invite the ones that he's friendly with - or it sets a dangerous precedent. Plus you've got to think about how many weekends you want to spend at return-party-invites from ppl you don't know well. Not every party will be as fabulous as the ones you throw ;).

Well big weekend here, going out to a real grown ups party tonight (sans kidlets) and then DD1's holy shindig tomorrow. My darling friend has offered to make a cake & they were doing sugar roses earlier in the week so I'm so excited to see what it looks like! Phew I'm gonna need a lie down at some point I think.

wow sugar roses sound beautiful md....are they light pink? that's what i'm seeing in my head...
i got the eggs from ebay but they also have them on the teaching website..ya know the one? i think the ones on the teaching website look better (the container is better) but are more exxy.

question- lewis has a bit of an ongoing cheek rash thing that pops up here and there and then clears up- only on one cheek- always the same side- looks a bit excema -ish.....should ibe taking him to some sort of skin/allergy specialist or something? somedays it looks pretty nasty, others non-existant.

How is he going with teething G? Does he have anymore to get? My lot always got really red, rosy cheeks with teething that looked like what you are describing. If it were slap cheek or eczema, then he would be feverish or it would be there all the time. If it's not teething then I would just go the the chemist and ask to speak to the pharmacist about it and get some over the counter cream - I ask my chemist for advice more than I go to the Dr's LOL, but we've got a fantastic chemist.

MD, I'm sure the cake will be perfectly divine - I love sugar flowers, the look so pretty. I can't remember the last time we went to an adult party without the kids *sigh*. I think Kids Central/ELC has the eggs too.

Noni, just pop him in bed with you and leave a boob out and he can just have free access to it at night and it wont feel like you are getting up for a feed all the time.

Took Alister to the Dr yesteday for the redipred script and he was asking me other questions as well to rule out pig flu and he asked about diahhorea and I said, yeah, last week but he was well apart from the nappies and he always has very soft, unformed poo anyway (yeah lovely hey? ;) ) and he said that wasn't right, he should have firmer motions by now and I said its been like that for months and months and it's only rarely you get a firm one. So he thinks that he has a giardia bug in his intestine thats causing it, plus his weight gains have stopped too. So he is being tested for that and rotavirus (which I don't think he has but boy will i be ****ed off it has anything to do with the vaccine) and if those come back clear we will move onto allergies and intolerances etc. He thinks it is most likely giardia though because I asked if the dog's water that comes from the dam could be a source and he said yes, so that's a very likely culprit as he plays in the water all the time.

trill-what is giardia? i've never heard of it?

he doesn't have a fever...he still has heaps more teeth to get. if it was teething cheek though would it always be on the one same cheek like it is?
i put cream on it and that tends to clear it but then it's back the next day iykwim?
maybe i'll get the dr to check it when i take jimmy for his vacs.

its a bug that lives in water and transmittef by poo - like in swimming pools etc so thats why they close a pool if ther had been poo in it. it can live in your gut for months

It sounds serious, but its kinda not kwim? People can have it and not even really know it apart from their poo LOL. If that's what he has all he will need is some antibiotics to clear it up. I'm hoping that it is that and not an allergy/intolerance cause that would be harder to deal with if we have to eliminate something from the house cause he can't eat it.

Rainy I used to love those egg things as a kid. If you have a Dr appointment for J then I would ask him about L's rash. My L gets eczema on one cheek. I cant believe J is getting teeth already.

MD what a busy weekend you have, all sounds very nice though. You will have to put up some photos from tomorrow.

Trill that bug does sound nasty. L has mostly squishy poo's too, never thought it wasn't normal though.

Noni I agree with the others, just keep putting him on the boob. It can take a while to get the hang of expressing though so don't give up first go.

Clare sounds like TT is going well, lol at the kids being competitive.

I hope your all having a good weekend. DH has a long weekend this weekend which is great then he has a pub hol on Wednesday so trying to think of something fun to do with L. I think I am going to have start a thread in the name section, we are hopeless and cant agree on anything lol.

HI ladies
We had an eventful day here yesterday. DH came home from work early and said that he thinks we should break up. I said 'so no more trying or effort?' he said 'no' so I left the house, taking my wedding band off as I left. Sarah was thankfully asleep but I was a mess from the moment I got in the car. He then sent me a message 2 hours later saying that if there is any hope for us then we need to talk so of course I'm like WTF! make up your mind. He made a counselling appt for next week, so we are currently on tenterhooks and I really can't be around him too much. Slept in the spare room and Sarah spent the night at MIL. I don't know what to do. He says that he's not sure of anything, including his feelings for me. I don't know where to go from here but am playing it by ear. I have an awesome friend up here who has been taking care of me and S has been predominantly at MIL.
On a different and definately brighter note, this same friend took me to get my bday pressie today. Way early but she was keen. I got my tongue pierced! Owies but am stoked that I got it done! Pics tagged of me getting it done on facebook.
Anyhoo..thats me in a handbasket this weekend. God and its only Sat arvo...whats to come?

Trill- Lu was exactly the same, we had some blood tests and turns out she is highly intolerant to Soy and mildly intolerant to dairy. It is really hard to get Soy free things, so we basically have fresh fruit and veg and i make bread. Since we have changed her diet she actually does a formed poo! You wouldn't believe my excitement at seeing a poo that rolled off a nappy. :rofl: Since changing her diet she is also calmer, no eczema, sleeps better and generally happier, so i have been really happy. My GF had giardia last year when preg, and you can;t take the meds if you're preg, so she just had to ride it our for her pregnancy. :o What a PITA..... literally!

Rainy- the egg thing sounds cool. I think Lu would love that.

MD- Can't wait to see pics, will you put some up? A party without kids, wow!!! i dream of the day. ;)

Kate, that is terrible. I hope you are holding up alright and can sort out something. It is a very hard call to accept if it just isn't working anymore

Re the poo - is it not normal for them to still be squishy? W still does 3-4 a day and they are mostly squished ie not the runs but certainly not well formed roll-off-the-nappy ones. It is always a bit exciting to get one that rolls of easily lol. Usually the only nappy of the day that isn't a poo one is the one before bathtime - and DH gets that one!

I'm not expert Arte, but Lu's were almost runny diarrhea type poo at least 5 out of 7 days a week. Sometimes not as bad, but never looked like a log iykwim! I was told it should be soft, kind of like a putty or playdough consistency. Lu's was also gritty, like it had sand in it, only she wasn't eating sand!
When i say roll off the nappy, it does look kinda squished in there, but with a bit of encouragement it will peel off leaving bits of residue, but certainly not like before where i had to scrape it off with a spoon....... too much info???

:rofl: Ange! Yep, that's exactly what Alisters are like but without the grainy-ness so something is definitely going on. And soy is a bugger because the bloody stuff is in EVERYTHING!! Did she put on weight too when you cut out all of that? But he did have the tiniest nugget today that was hard, but then I think that was due to him getting dehydrated a bit yesterday :rolleyes: can't wint either way but at least when I told DH last night he seems like he believes me now because when I said something in the past about it he just had that 'he'll be right' attitude.

How did you get her to sit still while she was having blood taken though? That would be my biggest worry of all this - the barrage of blood tests.

Oh Kate :hug: I'm so sorry that he is screwing you around like he is - that's not good for the head at all. I hope that you can work it out - I hate the thought of you having to go through all this. But you can keep your tounge piercing all to yourself LOL - no one is ever sticking anything in my tounge!
