Hi everyone. Thanks for the thoughts of me over the weekend.
My ex-foster sister placed her little stillborn baby's ashes in with nana (her nana and my great-grandmother). So horribly sad. Nana was just hanging on to see the baby. I have no idea what to feel about my foster sister - she had no idea the baby had passed before the birth, had her in the ambulance on the way to hospital completely alone. Her waste of space mother knew the baby had died but it didn't occur to her to visit so she was by herself all night with her still baby until my aunt went to her mid morning. That is a night that I can't even imagine. But on the other side, the autopsy has shown the baby died two days before she was born of a meth overdose.
Anyhow, the children were both really good over the weekend. DH looked after them both while I was at the service and they were fine. A is a daddy's girl. Caught up with some old uni friends currently expecting their first baby - still under the illusion that their baby will fit around them and that the dog will still be a top priority lol, so cute!

Arte :hug: . I can understand how conflicted you're feeling towards your foster sister right now, it just seems so senseless, doesn't it, but that doesn't change the horribleness of what she has experienced. xxx LOL at your friend's starry-eyed take on motherhood.
Jazah - re normal Lego, there are a few ranges that are aimed at a 4-8 age range...the people are bigger and there are none of the tiny complicated blocks. We've got a whole set of pirates & boats. Also, since your house is a girly wonderland, google BELVILLE - it's the *ultimate* in girly lego. I collected it for H for several years, she's got fairies, witches, the princess & the pea, an underwater palace with Neptune & mermaids, royal carriage, etc. E still has trouble connecting the duplo so I'm gonna hold off bringing out the smaller stuff, but she enjoys fiddling with it when H has it out.
ETA - if you've still got the negatives of your baby photos, get them scanned instead of the photos, the professional neg scanners give a really good result.
BTW Duplo never gets old, I kept H's tub to bring out whenever we had little visitors around (after H went to school) and *all* the big kids play with it. There's something about those chunky blocks, the stuff is addictive.
JM I had a far out :o moment over the malaria! I had a friend who brought it home with him from his time in Fiji, every so often he would get sick with it again, out of the blue. Is it likely to be chronic like that for L?
Cally that is awesome news that your Dad's tumour is responding so quickly, it's a very good sign, also that he's able to have rads. It's pretty amazing what they can do. It must be weird seeing your mum thinking ahead to a time when she might be by herself :hug: but in another way it's brilliant if they are using this as a prompt to get organised and streamline their lives now, because regardless of what happens with your Dad's health it will make their lives easier as they get older, kwim? LOL at your DH's lego fetish, & I can see that K has inherited your engineering genes.
Cass- I'm not buying the three-nager line. I had a really tough time with DD1 from 18 months, and it lasted right thru until 3 and a bit - it did peak RIGHT before it got better, but all of a sudden one day I thought, hmmmm haven't had a tanty since ..??? (couldn't remember) She was about 3 and a half when I realised.
I've discovered another community CC centre, closer to home (am wondering to myself how I never knew it was there, esp since I used to live in that suburb...? Anyway am going to visit with the director today. I am convinced the universe will turn and give us a place ahead of everyone's predictions to the contrary :lol:.
W loves duplo. It is pretty expensive, but mega block have a duplo compatible range for a lot cheaper.
JM, I would love to give you some fabulous words of wisdom to help you out, but I am in a world of tantruming sleepless kids so I am about the last person to dish out parenting advice!
The weather here has turned rather cold in the last few days - the condensation on the window is freezing overnight and a few chunks of ice I threw out of the dogs water bowl the other day are still sitting there, too cold to melt it! The sliding doors nearly didn't open this morning because they were frosted shut and yesterday I went to turn on the hose to defrost the windscreen and the tap was frozen shut!
I have enrolled in a uni paper for this semester, I thought the sleeping might be better by now but it isn't so I guess I will see how it goes. I got home from Nana's funeral to an email telling me I had missed out because I hadn't sent in the required paperwork that I had sent over a month ago. I was very upset and called the uni but they couldn't do anything, but they called the next day and said that somehow I had been given duplicate student id's and had two incomplete applications so it is all fixed and I can do it. Looking forward to it now.

Arte, you do realise, don't you, that most of our little thread family have no real concept of that level of cold. LOL. So glad you got the uni admin sorted, it can be a painful process. What course are you doing? I've yet to decide if I'm going to try to plunge back in this semester or not. Made a touch more complicated because the course I am enrolled in has just changed, it's now in a different school even :wall:.

I am just doing a grad dip in Psychology - not really my cup of tea but for all the advertising for correspondence degrees, it is the only one that can actually be completed at home without having to go to contact courses. So, like thousands of crazy chicks before me, I shall do this course with the possibility of finding out what is wrong with me lol. I am having a bit of trouble with the cross over from a core science to a social science though - in chem a lab report was aim, method, results, conclusion - 2 pages if you had a big graph.

in all honesty G...a mohawk is AWESOME!!!! (yes, i now can admit that i once upon a time dated a boy who had *quite* the mohawk when i was about 16 lol).

I have to be honest, I cringe when I see little boys with mohawks, but then the short back and sides my boys have probably isn't everyones cup of tea either ;) If you think he'll look awesome with one, then do it!
oh trust me G i suddenly feel very pregnant. poor DH had to witness tired, BH ridden pregnant, hormonal wife losing it halfway on the walk home in the rain today :redface: poor man te he he. i had TOTALLY forgotten how cumbersome even walking gets for extended periods of time (we were out and about with Leila for about 4 hours...without the pram = big mistake LOL!).
PMSL at all the Lego comments - DH says it is a very good investment!!
Well we are back into the routine here - back at school etc. DD and DH had a wonderful week together. Went swimming, walks at the botanic gardens, visits to the library and then even headed into school one day and pulled out all the gym equipment and she had an absolute ball on the little balance beam and jumping onto the really big mats.
Cass - 7 weeks to go - or are you going with 5?? Was L two weeks early?
Arte, hehe welcome to world of social "sciences"...my degree sits in the School of Sciences which is HILARIOUS. AT least yours involves rats in mazes for an authentic sciency touch LOL. Good luck with it, I'm sure you'll get up to speed with it quickly enough, bright sparkly spark that you are :).

Cass I too have been loving your preggy tum photos...not surprised you lost it the other day. 4 hours is a lot of walking when you're towing along such a glorious belly. Do you feel 'organised' yet?
Well we finally pulled the side off Missy E's cot on the weekend (I can't believe we left it that long!!!) and so far so good, although she was singing and playing in there last night until quite late. Everytime one of us went up there to look in, she would be lying face down on the bed, blankets off like she'd just dived in when she heard us coming LOL.
MD: ha ha! leila does the same thing with the mad bed dive. then she giggles hysterically at herself and her cunning plan of deception...subtle as a sledgehammer my child lol!
Cally: wow you have good memory! leila was born at 38w1d! but my midwife has warned me that she was born at full term and therefore it is no indicator that this pregnancy will also go early...she reckons that for many mummas it can feel like an incredibly loooooongggg pregnancy when you hit 40 weeks after having an early bird...oh that will sooo be me lol!
AFM: had shocker mrs crocker last night. looks as though leila is getting crook (again!). i dont think she fully shifted her cold from a few weeks ago as her eyes were still watery. oh joy! :crossfingers: that it passes quicker this time though. have ripped out the brauers recovery quicksmart this time lol.
bought leila a balance bike for her birthday as well! it's pretty cool. managed to convince DH that the uber s****y german one was a bit OTT with the price and we ended up with a similar (albeit slightly less s****y but cute nonetheless) wooden balance bike for less than half the german price, woot!!
now i am researching trampolines.
oh and if ANYONE has a spare say, $50,000 i found the most uber cubby houses for sale.... posh tots is the place to look online (the name says it all really). i was *thinking* that the victorian manor was the one we'll get :rofl: seriously you HAVE to check them out. it's insane in the membrane.

Took him to the dentist today for a filling! I noticed it when we were away for football, so 10 days ago. He sat there good as gold and had it drilled and filled - he had his arms behind his head while he was laying back on the chair and you'd think he was on a sun lounge ROFL. But I had prepped him all week about what he had to do and how it wouldn't hurt and that I would buy him a new tractor if he was good ;)

I took today off to spend with Noah - having such a lovely day - I realised we havent had a whole day alone together since 2 days before J was born. We went to see the gruffalo this morning which was good, and then aplay in the park and picnic lunch... he is asleep now and then we will do some craft and cooking before we pick up J. Gorgeous day!

afm: munching on a bag of macadamias oh so good! Leila is well and truly sick again :( very blocked up and a pinch of naughty on the side. her perfect combo. she took off down our street today with an evil laugh...i was not amused. just had a quote for some blinds and curtains from kresta today. the quality is soo not nice and they really have very little choice but still want almost $3500 for 4 windows. unimpressed! now we are thinking of going to the drapery place up the road. will cost more but man at least they have nice choice. thinking that if we cant afford both the blockout blinds and sheers we will get the blinds now and sheers later...(sorry for the ramble am thinking out loud here lol!) i also like the idea that the guy makes them himself iykwim. he seemed really lovely (whereas the kresta chick was on the mobile the whole time :rolleyes:).

Just a brief update from me. Mum flies up on Friday to drive down to Ippy with me, then the waiting game is on. I've been having strong feelings that I might not see 40 weeks, not too sure if its intuition or jus insanet plain psyching myself out. I've so gotta get out of Emerald and then I think I'll breathe easier. S has been driving me freakin insane...a combo of her age I think and my crankiness for sure lol.
Been getting shocking BH contractions and have terrible hip pains. So not allowed to sleep on back, can't sleep on stomach and soo much pain sleeping on either side means that I spend most of the night on the recliner. I miss tummy sleeping ;(

Re the dentist we are all going next month so L will have his first check up then. WTG A for being so great about it. L likes to open his mouth for the Dr so fingers crossed he is just as good for the dentist.

Lu got over her Malaria and then managed to perforate her eardrum so she's been in the wars. Sas on the other hand now has Malaria and is quite sick. She hasn't eaten in 5 days, thank goodness i'm BF'ing still, she manages to keep BM down sometimes but has been in and out of the clinic to get IV fluids.
Some of you asked about Malaria. It is VERY common here. The Valley i live in is locally referred to as 'death valley' :o But the truth is that around here not many people die from it as treatment is readily available. Lu had a cough and was a bit off so i went and got her tested. Sas threw up once so i took her to be tested. Catching it early means you can head it off at the pass, so even at the slightest twinge we head down and have a test done. It's really simple, just a finger ***** which is assessed under a microscope to check for the parasite.
I think we caught Lu's earlier than Sas, she recovered much quicker. Sas is still struggling, and my nipples hurt!
Anyway, i haven't really caught up on the latest, but mum and dad just left so i will after the weekend. xxx
big hugs JM :hug: i remember when we had dengue outbreak and everyone was walking around like zombies. hope the girls recover well and quickly. poor sas on the vommies! thank goodness for booby milk! xx

AFM: having a day at home by myself today :dance: i figure i might as well take advantage! i have been mega tired (so get ya on that one Kate!) and bubby has really dropped so have constant aching in my nether regions...oh the joys lol.
Leila is MUCH better!!! basically she was crook on tuesday, runny nose on wednesday, by wednesday night she was 100% better!! i credit the speediness to the brauers recovery tonic as i reckon she was just needing an extra boost to get over the last hump itms. think i might chuck her on a multivit for a month or so. we are missing out on so much sun and running around in fresh air cause of the weather, so all the heating and controlled air environment is taking it's toll on the poor wee poppet.
Leila has also upped the 'norti' stakes BIG time. basically she has spent the last 3 days REFUSING to come when called, get dressed, spills her drinks (delibrately) then smears the contents overherself and objects, drawing in books, lying ( :o ) you name it she's doing it lol! basically she's possessed lol! not really sure what to do, but am just riding with the wave ATM. tried some time out in her room (which usually works, but she decided to do a proper 'kid' tantrum and destroyed her room instead). have to say that i am grateful for the calmbirth course i did as it is helping BIG TIME with keeping in check (well most of the time...i am sure that my neighbours have heard me yelling yesterday...after she smashed the internet USB...by STOMPING on it).
it's just a good thing that she's cute :rofl:
Just a quickie - who used rice milk? Did you have a preference for brand? I've got a friend who had issues with dairy and soy isn't working either so that is the next option.
Cally, not sure of the issues, but lots of people with dairy probs tolerate A2 milk. Might be worth a shot. Also people with a dairy intolerance often have a soy intolerance. I used Rice Dream i think! I found them all a bit similar.....
Cass I wish I could say I was going somewhere great. DH's nan passed away so we are off to Syd for the funeral.
Maybe we should pretend......... Ok I am off to Hawaii to enjoy the sun and surf. MP, sounds like a great day! I haven't had much one on one time with W since A was born, basically only if she is sleeping and since she is queen of the 20 minute nap there isn't a lot of time for me to spend with just W.
Clare, OMG! I don't have the patience to withstand that sort of toddler onslaught! Lucky for me W is all noise when he tantrums. He is not really a breaker - actually I was just thinking the other day that he only has 3 broken toys and the neighbours kid broke two of them.

The other night we went on a night bush walk which was quite cool. W has been asking to go for ages and we kept putting it off but then the kindy teacher asked what he did over the holidays and he told her all about it - desire leaking into reality - so I thought we had better make good. It was pretty fun. Followed by a major meltdown when we got home, but we expected that.
Off to the city by myself today for a root canal. Not really an exciting 'me' day but it needs to be done.

Jazah, forgot to say Yay for work! It must feel good to be doing something paid again. Is it one day a week? Where does H go while you are doing it?
It's only supposed to be for a couple of hours a week - they've only allowed 3 hours in the budget to pay me . I'm trying to do most of it from home on a Tuesday night and then go in to school for a couple of hours to print in out the next morning.
H went to dh's parents. She had a great time - but i'd prefer to send her to my Mum - she spoils her rotten ;)

Nah, it is an hour and a quarter travel time, so by the time DH gets home from work I will only have time to a quick job or two and then the dentist, then race back because DH is away for the weekend and needs to leave the second I arrive home.
