Trill, she was 12. I have had her since I was 16. She went to Australia and back with us. William is quite upset. He has a photo of her and keeps saying "I have a picture, but I am sad about our real dog" and keeps asking why she died and crying. I feel so bad for him.
Trill, glad you found out what was wrong with your dog. She will forgive you.
-
Awwww William has a sweet soul. 12 is pretty old for a dog. Ours is 11 and you forget that if they were people they'd be in their 80's at that age. Dh's sheep dog was 17 when she died a few months ago and the poor old thing really did look old.

oh Arte I am so sorry massive big hugs

Happy Boxing Day ladies! xxx (finally able to come up for air haha) Big day yesterday, Missy E was very tired after staying up until 11 pm (:o) the night before...got a sleep in but it totally threw out the morning's plans, we were dashing around to get out of the house to lunch & opened most of the pressies after we got home LOL. DH drove me wild like he does every year by insisting on videoing the pressie opening :wall: like that's the most important part of the day :wall: but other than that, it was coast-to-coast pure delight here. Dolls house ROCKS...also a surprising hit was a set of fairy-tale block things (3 bears, prince, princess, etc) which just goes to show simple is often best. DD was grinning like a cheshire cat over her new very cool stereo (which was an outrageous bargain, maybe they made a mistake on the discount at the shop?), and my parents bought us a HD set-top box which is fantastic because our pitiful lives revolve around what's on tv . Got a bit maudlin missing my sis like crazy but we talked on the phone a few times so I guess you just have to embrace the blessings that bit harder, don't you?
Arte - soooo sorry to hear about your dog . I still miss my Beags terribly so know that I'm thinking of you as the loss settles in over the coming days & weeks. xxx Well done keeping the bike a total surprise, you clever thing!
Cass, I'm with Trill, definitely want to see photies of the handy work...will post some of our own to FB, prolly tomoz as we have friends coming this arvo.
Trill, fantastic work with the DIY vetting! LOL. I used to give Beags injections all the time, into the fatty skin at the back of the neck, but I spose the penicillin has to go into muscle which would be harder and more difficult? I had meant to ask how your mum got on. Well done for surprising your bro, the look on his face must've been priceless! We had prawns (not ****tail, with a whole smoked tas salmon) followed by pork and chicken for lunch too...my dad excelled himself, so yummy.

Sorry to hear about your dog arte xoxo
Happy boxing day everyone. We have spent today doing a massive toy cull as we have been swamped!
-
We went down to the beach today. It was heaps of fun, but not fun coming home to an empty house. I miss my dog. William is still thinking about it a lot and the poor cat looks so sad. The dog raised her from when we found her as a 3-4 week old kitten. Before I took Chim to the vets the cat was licking her face and sat next to her while she slept :(
In other news, I have corrected the lack of any Christmas presents for me by buying a heap of linen for our bed. I got 2 duvet covers, a wool underlay and a valance cover for $250 from an online shop which is less than half of what the shops charge. And Ezibuy have Superking size - the King size bed we bought in Australia is a Superking in NZ and it is hard to find any linen for it. It should look good in my newly painted bedroom.
Hope everyone is enjoying their holidays.

 Arte. So sad. Congrats on your new bed linen. I'm trying to avert my eyes when it comes to the sales this year, have no $$ to spend but might try to wangle a layby on a new large frying pan as the one we've got is hopeless & Harries has them for half price. Silly to buy them any other time of the year. The linen will give your bedroom a real lift. I've got one set I like and the other set I bought halfway thru chemo when the old one ripped irreparably in the wash & I didn't have the oomph to go looking for a nice one so I bought the first one I found and now I hate it (probably from looking at it when I felt crummy LOL). Hey maybe I should layby one of those too.
Ginger yay for toy cull! We weren't big on volume at all this year, but I've still got to figure out how to fit the dolls house into E's bedroom. We did a huge cull about a month ago. BUT DD1's bedroom is getting out of hand so there will be tears and tantrums one day soon (probably from me haha) when I get stuck into that. Luckily she's starting to get the idea that if she doesn't look after her stuff I will treat it like rubbish too and it will go in the bin LOL.
Had a gorgeous day doing N-o-t-h-i-n-g today...soooo tired after all the extra activity this week. Had a bunch of friends around yesterday which was absolutely lovely because I actually had the energy I needed to do everything ... first time in 2 years, not bad, huh? Paying for it today though.

Hey everyone!
MD, we have that problem with the girls room. I took all the Little People stuff out and it made a small difference. Things that they are starting to grow out of I put away until I'm sure they don't need it and then give it away.
Arte, I went to Myer yesterday and got myself, DH and A a new pillow each, two pillow protectors and a doona for A's bed when it comes all for $230! It was all half price. I'm waiting to get new linen though because I need to sort through what we have and see what is worn out. I love Ezibuy sheets though, I have them for the kids beds and they a pretty good quality.
G, how did the toy cull work out? ;)
-
MD, I can't believe it has been two years since the initial gall stones. A is the same age now as E would have been then. I don't think I appreciated at the time how hard that must have been doing it all with a toddler. Glad you are starting to get your energy back.
The bedroom painted a bit darker than I planned so I needed to trade in the grey/black cover for some nice light/white ones.
Trill, you should have a look at the Ezibuy website now - they have a big sale on until New Years.
Went down to Wanganui again today because it was pouring with rain and the kids were getting bored. W has been going on two one-hour bike rides every day since he got his bike. Yesterday I went outside and he had got himself a wipe and was out there cleaning the dirt off it lol

hi girls!
Arte: big hugs  i still feel sad almost 6 years later that Cassius is not with us, so i totally understand that 'empty' feel when you get home and see their usual spot, and all their things
i need to check out ezibuy...
Hey and a quick question: i got a $200 myer giftcard...what do i buy??! mum gave it to me and told me i need to spend it on myself (ie NOT the girls...) so now i am stumped!
MD: i used to cry at every toy cull when i was a kid lol! i get soo emotionally attached...even if i do dump it with fervour on the floor everyday hahaha!
-
Cass, they had some nice skirts and pants/shorts in my Myer or even shoes...
-
-
Cass, $200 - what's not to spend it on? Perfume, body lotion, new underwear or PJs, new bedlinen, small appliance you've been wanting, books, DVD, musack, new outfit (our myer has a TS section which I love, bit large for you I s'pose :p), shoes, new pair of bathers, sunnies, handbag...???!!!
ETA - Arte, yeah it was hard, looking back I'm still in shock a bit about how little she was when I was doing all the surgery & chemo etc...I still hold guilt around "outsourcing" so much of her care to family day care but it was totally necessary at the time. Seriously, some days it was hard just lifting her into the car to take her there. The whole family had to learn some resilience, fast. Deep history now though.
-
i'm thinking pampering with my voucher...so yeah, mebbe some make-up. my friend told me this afternoon that they also do waxing etc etc...hmmmm
but now i am on a linen wave-length....
