Yip, she is overtaking A who is dry as long as I physically place her on the toilet at regular intervals. If I don't she will just wet herself, no effort at all to do anything by herself.
On the TT front Miss M has decided that she is a Big Girl and wants to wear knickers...and then just wee in them all over the place :rofl: i have been taking her to the loo every half hour or so but to no avail. she'll just go on the floor thankyouverymuch lol.
have been so thankful for the short week last week. i think Miss L needed it TBH. she has huge dark circles under her eyes and has been quick to meltdown all weekend. the poor poppet has been sleeping well but just cant catch a break and recover from the intensity of school. she is always off at a 110% so it is no wonder that she is burning out.
W got a certificate in assembly for settling in so well :) I just happened to arrive as they started announcing. He is such a big boy :)
I just can't believe how much he has changed! The clothing issues has pretty much disappeared - he voluntarily puts on a jersey if he is cold or shorts and tee-shirt if he is hot which is a massive change from the selected long sleeve tee's and pants that he has been wearing for the last two years. The other day he even walked on grass with bare feet! This hasn't happened for years!! I am not sure if it is the confidence boost of school, or the holiday where he had to be a bit flexible on some of his routines and preferences etc, but something has happened and it is great!! The odd small meltdown but nothing you wouldn't expect from a kid just starting school (BTW, the kindy teacher warns that around week 6 they hit a wall and turn feral!)
Cass, W did that when he started wearing undies. I forced a nappy back on him and told him if he was making no effort to use the potty he had to keep wearing them - he was dry from that day on lol
Busy, busy around here. Trying to get quotes and grants done for an extension at kindy, started my new uni paper and with two kids using the potty I feel like I am toileting kids all day.
think I am totally going to have to start that with her! she knows she needs to wee, will stand with her legs akimbo in readiness and just lets rip ('cause she is a delicate little flower my Miss M lol).:
but point blank refuses the nappy. might have to use it as the ultimate 'not a big girl' moment - as i mop up the floor lol.
How is everyone?
Feeling a bit fancy around here. After years of living with make-do furniture, the cheapest possible things that were only meant to be temporary but have lasted for over 8 years now, we are getting new furniture! The dining chairs have arrived already :) They have been on the wish list for about 5 years now. I also got new drawers for the girls and a big bed for E, the girls are going to be sharing a room. I got bedside tables for DH and I (instead of the $5 coffee tables we have been using for 4 years lol) and W is getting a new set of drawers and a bedside table. DH and I are having the kids old drawers - we haven't had any real storage for our clothes since we moved here because our last house had shelves built into the wardrobe.
And after years of having the TV sitting on beer crates, a cabinet pulled from the work skip, a 4th hand sideboard, and a computer desk that was left behind by previous tenants, we are, for the first time in our lives ever, getting a TV cabinet!!
It didn't even cost that much. I found a good online shop that had most of what we wanted, so much cheaper than the big name stores and NZ made too. I hope the delivery guys bring it upstairs for me.
So that is my bit of excitement :)
Arte - new furniture sounds very exciting. We still have this hideous table that was a hand me down from PIL - the table has scratchy edges and the seats are just super ugly. We've been hanging onto it rather than getting a new one because of the various stages of Miss K's eating (and messiness). And now the prospect of a new house in a few years, it's not worth getting rid of now. In our new house I am desperate for a fully coordinated bedroom - love the idea of matching stuff.
School is still going well - she was one of the first to get a class award last week for good listening. I've noticed a big change in the way she plays 'schools'. We have given up on babies going to sleep and now DH and I have work which is explained to us a number of times and then there is lots of 'good work' when we're finished. She's even caught the bus to me at work a couple of times as well - I found it far more stressful than she did!
So W came home last week and said some big kids were throwing balls at him at lunch time and calling him a baby. I talked to the teacher about it and it was suggested he might have walked through a game and misinterpreted it.
Now today, he lost his undies in the hall when getting changed after swimming and said he was sure some big kids (the same ones) had walked past and taken them. Then he said that they had been throwing the balls at him again, all of them at the same time.
I guess I will talk to the teacher again, but I am not sure what to think. I don't know if it is really happening as he said, if he is misinterpreting something accidental, or if it isn't happening at all. All I know is that he is convinced the kids are doing it to be mean to him :(
oh no! :( i really really hope that whatever is going on is fixed ASAP. I cannot bear to think that your poor wee boy is being picked on :(
Talked to his teacher again today about the ball thing. She has talked to him about it and neither of us can figure out if it is really a problem. He isn't upset at all about it, just chats about it casually. IDK. She is keeping an eye on him in the playground JIC.
Big day of shifting furniture. I have a horrible head cold and now my body aches from all the lifting and hauling but it looks pretty good.
Lost the first tooth today - she managed to eat it with a piece of watermelon so we've had to write a letter to the tooth fairy. One pretty excited little girl!
Arte - Icky head colds. I think we're all getting one here too, DH and I have had sore throats the last few days.
First tooth!! How exciting. W can't wait for his to fall out, he heard from a friend that the tooth fairy is paying $1 per tooth these days!
I hope he keeps them for ages yet - for me the tooth gaps are the defining feature between little kids and big kids.
I took lots of close ups of her face on the weekend with all the teeth in there when I realised it was imminent. They lose so much cuteness when those massive new teeth come in!
wahhh I am all hormonal i guess but the thought of my baby losing her teeth...waahhhh! they are growing up waaaayy too fast. wahhhh I am not ready!!

I think we too have been fighting off a lurgy. Miss M and Miss E have runny noses and i have the slighest discomfort in my throat. but today i feel considerable worse...so no doubt it is kicking in. boo.
AFM: BIG NEWS! after a whole year I am finally getting my hair cut again :lol: i know, not earth moving information but for me it is HUGE. of course i have a grumpy unwell 4 month old with me: but hey! boob fixes all right? right?!
now to decide in the next half hour what style lol.
Arte, yay for your new furniture!! How good it feels. I'm desperate for a new lounge suite. I hope W's playground issue is all sorted out. It's hard to judge sometimes how much of it is their perception vs how much is something that really happened, but the important thing here is that he feels uncomfortable so whatever the cause, it needs to be looked at.
Cally - teeth!! Jeepers. I bet she's adorable with a gap though.

Trill - Go you on scoring that job!! (Ride that rainbow of awesomeness, girrrrrrl!!!) Agree 100% that it's an awesome way to get through your prac elements - still haven't worked out how I'm going to negotiate that phase, which will be looming soon for me too. Good luck, let us know how it's going.
Busy, busy, busy here. Trying - as always - to whip this household into shape. DH is away which is a bummer. Shrinks my disposible time, not enough hours in the day. Miss E hit the Wall of Absolute Revoltingness last weekend, I think she was just getting overloaded/overtired from school, then we had one of those unavoidably busy weekends. But she cracked a case of conjunkyeteis on Mon, so we scored a free day at home, which helped enormously. I've also made some cunning tweaks to the evening routine, to eliminating the procrastinopportunities. So she's been getting to bed a little earlier. Not a lot earlier (with DH away I don't get home from work early enough) but it's making a difference.
Busy here too. We went down to the beach for the weekend. We were going to go on Thursday but of course my cat did a disappearing act but she turned up again so we left on Saturday morning. Good to catch up with my mum and stepfather, then my granddad and then my two cousins that I spent heaps of time with growing up. They have three girls between them and the youngest two are similar in age to my girls and they all play so wonderfully together now. They are the only cousins that my kids will have anywhere near them in age so it is nice for them all to spend time together.
MD, is your DH away for long? Good idea to minimise muck around time, I know when I am flying solo I get into the trap of everything dragging out.
Cass, how is your new hair cut?
So tired. Stayed up way too late over the weekend and Miss E decided to get up to go to the toilet at 6am today and that was apparently a good enough time to be up for the day. I didn't agree but there wasn't much I could do about it. Her toilet training is going not too bad for such a little girl. She is 100% for poo but has anything from 1-3 wee accidents in a day. Not pushing it much because she is only 17 months old and really anything at that age is a bonus!
Miss E is doing very well with her TT. Are the wee accidents just because she is easily distracted because so young do you think?
I'm with you on the tired. Yesterday morning I had to go to the loo before 5 and after 20 minutes left our bed and moved to the spare room as I just couldn't get comfy. Had only just dropped off (at 6) when DD came in because her doona looked like it had eyes and was scaring her. So no more sleep. Thankfully it was a weekend so I had a nanna nap at 10 for a couple of hours.
Feeling really flat at the moment. Just feel like I am in this total rut. Not helped by the fact I can't do anything because my ankle/Achilles is sore and I am banned from exercising for three weeks, plus I have stitches in my elbows from mole removals. My job has been on the line for the last 3 months, found out this morning I stilll have it, but there is a part of me that would have been fine with being there for school pick up and helping out with maths each week. And my sleeping has gone to crap again since DH has been back at work. Think I need a break. Might try and persuade DH for a few days away next school holidays. His job has been confirmed (was up in the air last year) so we should do something to celebrate.
That sucks Cally. Must have been very stressful having both jobs up in the air! I hope you can catch up on some sleep and get away for a bit. Any plans for Easter?
