Cally, I was going to suggest an osteopath too. Not really sure of the difference between them and chiro but some people seem to swear by them.

Winter is coming fast here now. It was pouring down for the last couple of days and I am picking there will be a whole lot of snow on the mountain when the clouds clear. That always makes it cold in town.

We have sea monkeys. I think I can see two little babies already. Or I am staring at floaties in the water lol. I think I might just enjoy them more than the kids :)

Just done a quick google and the closest osteopath is still 45 minutes away so not really an option.

Will have to google sea monkeys - I have no idea what they are.

I killed my sea monkeys. I thought they would like a big house so I put them in an old fish tank but I didn't take into account the salinity and the packet that came with them to condition the water was not enough for the volume of water I used. My little babies that hatched are lying on the bottom :( So I ordered another set, with the right sized house this time. Soon I will have sea monkeys and as a bonus, they will be the ultimate pet to take to kindy pet day!

Yes, maths was a bit full on. I was in charge of 'before and after teen bingo' - had 8 kids at a time. Such a huge range of abilities, the ones that just got it straight away, versus the others that looked at me blankly and had no idea what 15 looked like. Kids that put the counters in their mouths, the frequent requests for toilet trips, arguing with each other, ignoring me - just full on and it was only an hour.

Oh yeah, and the morning vomit. She's started getting super fussy, so we've put our foot down since the holidays and insisted that dinner has to be fully eaten before anything else happens. Last night she didn't touch it at all (even though it was something she'd eaten before). Woke up early to say goodbye to DH (he's away tonight), had some milk on the completely empty stomach and blergh..... Luckily I had the day off (to help with maths) so I was completely available to do loads of washing.

Cally - ah the tyranny of distance. Gosh that maths sounds a bit OTT. I'm having flashbacks to my illfated brush with primary teaching LOL. Is K feeling better?

We had sea monkeys once. It entertained DD for all of a week and then I was left tending these incredibly long-lived and non-interactive critters.

What was that I heard about winter? Radelaide broke a heat record today. :p

Soooo... has anyone put in their order for Mothers' Day? Any plans forming?

I have seen a wrapped up present from After School Care. She has been discussing Mothers Day for some time (ie before school holidays) so maybe something else is up. In saying that though, last Saturday she was full of talk about giving me breakfast in bed the next day, but when it came to the crunch, she wouldn't move from Dora on TV...

Miss K is fully better - headed off to school without a care in the world and no issues with pizza and chocolate pudding for dinner last night. I did the sneaky 'move the clock forward' trick to get her into bed 30 minutes earlier too because of her early start (nothing to do with the single parent thing I was doing....;))

nup. no mothers day surprises happening here..surprise surprise lol. although, i got super lucky earlier in the week as DD1 couldnt wait to give me the necklace she made at school for me :D it is so so cute!!

Yes, lovely day thankyou. I put in my order for a ricotta hotcake breakfast yesterday (LOL) and the girls outdid themselves with several rounds of handmade cards & pictures. DD1 made a decorated pot of different sorts of paper flowers (very cute) and DD did a handmade paper photo frame. DH took the girls shopping and picked up some pjs and slippers that I'd layby'd (;)) and wrapped it all up in pretty paper. Just in time too because it's suddenly winter again today. :)

Hope everyone had a good day yesterday :D here it was a craft makers dream with loads of cards and paintings from school lol. Totally cute as. Was still a bit cross though that DH shows absolutely no interest in the day at all though. I was kinda hoping for a card from Miss M and Miss E (especially as it was Miss Es first IYKWIM). but nup. nada. didnt even bother to sit down for brekkie with me (yep, ate it alone lol...the kids smashed their brekkie before i got up hahaha).

and now i have woken up sick and with what looks like the beginning of another round of conjunctivitis :(. waaahhhh! no fair!!!

No mothers day here either Cass. DH doesn't believe in it and doesn't bother to get the kids to do anything. I doubt DH was even aware it was yesterday. DD1 made a craft thing at kindy but she was excited that DH was home on friday afternoon when she got home and gave it to him lol.
We did go to the swimming pools, ran out of petrol on the way lol, and had lunch. I also met our postie at the pool and had a bit of a conversation with her in the changing rooms, slightly awkward because she was stark naked and chatting away lol. Turns out her DH works for my DH.

Bummer about conjunctivitis :(

Arte, good luck with the sea monkeys. I found a fascinating article about the dude who invented the whole sea monkey concept. I remember seeing the pictures in comics as a child and wanting them desperately. Man, reality disappoints! LOL I can just imagine that whole postie change room scene.LOL

Cass, I hope you're feeling better. Junkyeyetis ain't fun. Have you made any further progress on your dreams of a bigger/better house? I have resigned myself to at least another decade of storing stuff in plastic tubs in the shed and pushing furniture around every time someone comes to visit. LOL.

I'm deep in procrastiland right now. Not only do I have an essay to whip out, we've also had a bulk round advertised at work which is going to be horribly competitive since it's the first one in about 2 years. GAH. Lots of pain for an infinitismally small chance of gain. How's your assignment going Arte?

Assignment is going great - in fact I am doing it right now lol. I suspect for the first time ever I will have too many words and have to trim back. Usually I am the person asking if there is a minimum word count lol I am glad I started early though, it is very time consuming.

A bulk round is a promotion round. If you want to be promoted to you apply, have the interview etc, but you're not competing for one specific job. If you're successful they might put you in a variety of jobs.

You know how you have pretty much nothing at all on ever, then all of a sudden you get loaded with heaps of stuff all on the same day? That is my Thursday.

Not much happening in our lives at the moment. DD had an AFL skills day just up the road from work so I went to watch today for a little bit which she enjoyed.

Cold weather tomorrow. I've hidden DD's summer dress so she has no chance of sneaking it on - she's not a fan of wearing trousers and is kicking up such a fuss.

Cally: I too take to hiding clothes lol. Miss L really cannot fathom that winter is coming and insists on flimsy skirts and t-shirts...even when she is covered in goosebumps she refuses to accept the facts lol.

Arte: woo hoo on the assignment writing! i do hate to cut back, but so much more relieving than trying to spread it out hahaha.

MD: everything crossed for the bulk round...although being put in different jobs at once could be....interesting??

Cold here today. I left DH and the big kids at soccer and came home to my warm house.

We had a pot luck dinner here for DH's work department on Thursday. Went really well. Was a busy day with a birthday party and a school disco to fit in, as well as a heap of cleaning so people don't think we live how we actually live lol.

I am babysitting for a friend tonight. Her kids will be in bed and asleep, I am really looking forward to a few hours of serenity :)

All good here. Had a lovely weekend, just sunny and no wind. Not much excitement happening, big work project kicks off tomorrow (I suppose that is exciting).

How was the babysitting? Did you get serenity? DH bumped into MIL in town on Saturday and DD ended up going to her place for the afternoon - bonus kid free time, was good.

DD came out with a classic on the weekend - 'Mummy, why did you pick Daddy to be your husband? He's so bossy, I want a new one' That probably came up because she was told to get dressed....

bahahaha! we get the opposite in this house...i am the bossy one that they wished would morph into a pink dress wearing fairy godmother :lol:

snow! that could be fun...for like the first 5 minutes lol. i have dreams of going to the snow this year....doubt we will make it though as i really dislike being cold and wet.

Babysitting was great. Baby didn't make a sound, I sat on my butt and worked on my essay for three blissful hours :)

Your weekend sounds lovely. I am always jealous of people that have family nearby. I would love it if someone would take the kids every once in a while so there was a bit of breathing space.

ETA Cass, nope, lambs are disasters at night too. I have vivid memories of chasing them off the doorstep and into their yard around midnight…

You got it in one about the snow - it looks cool falling and I love waking up to find a beautiful clear day with a foot of snow on the ground but the kids last a few minutes in it and then they are cold and wet.

Yeah, snow looks pretty cool when you're inside - but so cold and wet outside!

Big project I've been working on kicks off tomorrow - kind of nervous, hope it all goes well.

Ohh Cally! it all sounds exciting re the new project! it must be weird something in theory being turned into something real....this coming from a theoretical background academic over here lol.

Arte: i too dream of family close by...then i remember what family it would be and breathe a sigh of relief that they are actually not that close bahahahaha. but yeah, i do wish i had the sort of family that would love to be around and do stuff with the girls and give DH and I some time etc.

Also, a question....about your bumpy boob...did you have a biopsy? Someone close to me has had a lump found via a mammogram and when they went to biopsy they realised they couldnt and it needed to be done surgically. they are confident though that it is most likely not cancerous so this person has decided to not have it done. i am a bit weirded out by it all...but how accurate are they in being able to determine without? and feel free to say you have no idea lol! 'cause i am totally stumped.

I love a potluck dinner. In fact my NZ friend was the person that introduced it all to me way back in Fiji....they are just a superb idea.

AFM: mastitis is gone baby! Miss E and I worked very hard to have it clear but we have managed it :D a bit tender but i reckon even that will have gone by end of the day...YAY YAY YAY!
Miss L had tonsilitis this last weekend and is finally back at school. i hope that she doesnt get it all the time like i did: that said, if she does we are sooo ripping those babies out. I wont even bother going public (we are still waiting a year later for her allergy assesment!).

MD is probably the person to ask about boob lumps but as far as I know they can tell quite well if it is non-suspicious though the ultrasound. I hope so anyway, cos that is all I had lol. My lumps are still there but the surgeon that did the scan said it was something something not serious. Was quite cool to see my active mammary layer though. I think I will have a follow up appointment at some point, as he wanted to check again when the feeding was over.

We get 1 or 3ish snow days a year. Last year none, this year two already and it is only May! About to head out to a cafe for lunch. Got to fill in the day somehow!

Ok, here's the dealio with the lumps:

*sometimes* some types of benign lumps are clearly identifiable via an ultrasound, these are specific types that have a very clear presentation (i'm assuming that's what you've got, Arte).

However, if there is even the teensiest shred of doubt, it should be investigated fully.

In Australia, the best practice once there is a palpable lump is to triple test: u/s +/- mammo; clinical examination & family history etc; and biopsy (usually a fine needle procedure, but might need to be core or surgical).

The red flag IMO is that a needle biopsy was suggested. This indicates a shred of doubt. The fact that they "couldn't do it" could mean any number of things, ie, that place didn't have best equipment or radiographer person was not experienced enough (depending on location this might be a factor). I would be checking whether there are any options to have the needle (or, if necessary core) biopsy done in a more specialized setting as an alternative to going straight to surgery. This might mean getting a referral to an endocrine surgeon with a breast specialization, or a breast clinic in a tertiary public hospital. It's really not a good idea to run with 'its probably ok'. Remember, the biggest factor in survival of breast malignancies is earliness of detection. This is not something that the person should defer.

ETA I should add, that a surgical biopsy is no biggie, they would do it as a day surgery & a good surgeon is very careful about size & placement of the incision, so the cosmetic impact is minimal too. Hth. At the very least they should ask for a specialist second opinion.
