It is a hard step to take!! It had been 7 years for me and the only reasons i went was 1 because i had taken the kids and thought hmm should go myself, 2 i felt a gap between gum and tooth (this is the one that may need a root canal fingers crossed doesn't) and I noticed a chip on tooth which actually is a broken temporary filling that I never knew about as never recall being told to go get it replaced!!!!

I seriously would rather 12 pap smears to 1 dentist appt but really we all should go. I had so so so much pain while they cleaned my teeth all the stuff off but they look good and feel better once I got used to funny feeling of no gunk on them as you do not realise how much you do not remove by brushing!

Hugs good luck pup on big girl pants and go get an appt!
...I'm also like 6month overdue for paps smear... *hides in shame* I need to coordinate with someone who can watch Spock for me.
Really have no excuse, I should go

Off topic, but TT, you can take Spock with you. My last smear test involved one kid chatting away behind the curtain, a 2 year old perched on the bed next to me and the toddler sitting on my chest reading a book. Apparently there is zero privacy in my life lol.

I have also had pap smears with the kids with me. And at the dentist I had DS2 with me who is 3 and 1/2 I had him in stroller in corner with a bag of snacks and some toys and they had TV on kids shows for him.

Please go and have pap smear as well.
