    Wisdom teeth

So I have an infection on one of my wisdom teeth, and after seeing the Dentist, he wants all 3 removed. He referred me to a specialist, and mentioned that Medicare will cover his costs with my only expense being the hospital costs. So I'm assuming that I'm looking at a GA.
Now I'm wondering what the ballpark figure of a GA is?
We have private health and on their website it says that they cover wisdom teeth removal 100%, including GA and hospital costs. But I'm not holding my breath over that.
I was just reading an old wisdom teeth thread and it seems quite a few of us have had them out, so I was wondering if you could maybe share ballpark figures? I don't mind if you don't want to though
    Thanks

    Re: Wisdom teeth

When I had my wisdom teeth out under GA, my private health covered the GA and hospital 100%. I only paid the dentist fee.

Anesthetists charges depend on how long you're 'under'. I recently had a GA (not for teeth), I was under for just under 2 hours, it cost $1000. I didn't have private health cover so had to pay the lot.

I had phi and had 4 wisdom teeth out under GA with a maxillofacial surgeon and didn't pay anything. When I got the statement advice from my phi outlining what was paid, the total cost was around $3,800

    Thanks ladies!
That's about the price range I was thinking, and if phi doesn't cover it then I may be in some trouble :/
I have an appointment with a surgeon in a fortnight, so I suppose he will tell me more, oh dear

Give your phi a call and find out if you'll be up for any out-of-pocket expenses? A friend of mine, who also had phi, had out of pocket expenses for the anaesthetist fees only.

    Re: Wisdom teeth

Hey all, thought I would update..
I ended up seeing an oral surgeon who quoted me over the $2000 mark to have three out in hospital, that was before phi rebate, and not including the excess.
I ended up going elsewhere and getting two out in the chair under iv sedation. The sedation was $375, and I get most of that back, and the dental bill was $188 after phi rebate. I didn't opt to get third out because it didn't need to come out at this point.

    Re: Wisdom teeth

i used bracers for about 4 years when i was young (11-15) and my teeth were perfected until my wisdom teeth started growing then they pushed everything and now my teeth are all dirty and i want to wear bracers again to have a nice smile then i consult to Davie Orthodontist and they relieve my pain from my wisdom teeth and bleeding gums and i wear braces from them.
