Hi Everyone
Just wondering if anyone else has had doctors tell you that you don't have endo and then further down the track tell you otherwise?
the reason i ask is that I have had pretty much every endo symptom since my very first period at 15. Really painful across my lower stomach and in my tailbone area, really heavy, no painkillers work etc etc... then as i got older sex was really painful for me and still is sometimes. the pill helped with the pain each month and the heavyness for a little while and then it went back to normal.
I have had so many ultrasounds its not funny and i've also had a lap about 18months ago. It came back as negative to endo.
They don't want to do another lap any time soon as its so close together; My husband and I are now trying for a baby and my fear is that we wont be able to have one because of it.
My auntie was diagnosed with it (she had it quite bad) and my mum had a mild case (they were identical twins) so it is in my family.
I suggested to the doctor that prehaps it wasn't noticable because i'm still fairly young and that over time it might become worse and then noticeable.... she didn't seem to agree.
Has anyone had this problem? (sorry for the long post)
well i have to say, you sound just like me, except i have not been diagnosed yet but i believe it could be endo.
I got a late period (16) and have never had a regular one, always been painful, went to the pill to make it better, got every side effect, so went to the implanon for 2 years. Did not get a single period in that time. Then come off that and have dabbled with the pill for a while and now nothing. Periods are gradually getting worse (TTC for 12+ months) i have not got period pain basically cobnstantly and it gets so bad that i spew (eeeew sorry for tmi).
I am currently holding 1L of water waiting for an ultrasound. My god this sucks!!
I am hoping it will show SOMETHING!
My last one i have about 12 months ago just showed i have a small left ovary (its 1cc and my right is 4cc) whatever that means :P
HOPEFULLY this time will tell them whats happenning!!!
i havent had the issue of them not diagnosing...with those symptoms it usually alerts any OB/GYN to the fact that endo could be the culprit. i recommend checking out the endo association of aus web site. they have some good tips for symptoms and also great advice for moderating diets to minimise symptoms (ie cutting right down on caffiene at crucial stages in your cycle...Ovulation and AF).
i have had to deal with endo ever since i was in my mid-teens too. it became worse with time and much worse after our miscarriage.
my symptoms (at time on the BCP) were: breakthrough bleeding (like on and off spotting throughout the cycle), very heavy and dark brown 'old' blood during AF, very painful AF cramps (to the point of dizziness and needing to leave school/work), painful intercourse (endo is notorious for growing even on the OUTSIDE of your cervix, hence intercourse can be VERY painful with all the action), spotting after intercourse, and also rather painful Ovulation pains (had endo on the right ovary).
these are just some of the symptoms. endo can be a very debilitating and consuming condition (as you are probably aware) and i have to say that generic medical practice for the treatment of endo has left alot to be desired for those of us living with it.
i recommend checking out some of the threads here on BB on alternative/natural treatments for endo (especially considering the reluctance by your Drs to adequately appraise your situation). Homeopathy for example, was the path i took to allow my DH and I to be blessed with our DD (our OB/GYN and FS told us our only option was through IVF).
Thanks for the replys girls,
Yeh looking at the symptoms i seem to have almost everyone.... however I'm very blessed to have fallen pregnant in the last 6 weeks yay....
I also had the ovulation pains everymonth however apparently there is nothing on my ovarys. Guess i will keep in persuit of it after the baby (for now i'm just soo happy not to get my period for another 8 months at least yay)....
I wish you both the best thanks for your reply again.
Just saw your post!
I had a lap in sept 2002 and the gyn didnt find any then had anothe lap by another gyn in Nov 2007 and he found it on both sides of my ovaries and it had been their a long time! so dont just believe what docs say go and get another opinion! Congrats on your pregnancy though!!!!
