    Hi AK,

I can't tell you what happens at your clinic - only my own in NSW.

Basically they will give you very limited information - and generally no photos.

Check and see on the availability of donors too - this may make your choice as to whether you stay in Aust or look overseas for sperm.

    hia,
We went through concept fertility and used an unknown donor.
    The information we received was:
    Eye colour
    hair colour
    nationality
    skin tone
body structure ie slim, normal overweight etc
    ocupation
    hobbies and interests
    siblings
health information ie medical history for not only donor but siblings, parents and grandparents
and a few other things. if I remember i will come back on and post
They are very helpful and I cannot recommend concept enough. the nurses and doctors there are wonderful. we had dealings with another clinic in subiaco which i wont name and they were horrible. treated us more like a number rather then a human being.

goodluck on your ttc journey and we wish you a happy outcome whatever you choose

    xx

This is really interesting - thanks for the post. If this cycle is unsuccessful we will be doing a donor sperm cycle at concept, so Its good to know that they are able to give you a fair bit of information about the donors physical appearance.

Thanks ak77 We are hoping obviously that this cycle works, but otherwise we have booked a fs appt with Dr Thompson at Concept Jan 7, and counselling/nurses appts on Jan 9, so it will be all systems go. In a way I am kind of relieved - Our problems mainly lie on the male side (besides my PCOS), so I feel positive that we have a really good shot with a donor.

    Hey Ak77

    No problems ask away

I am not sure about concept importing sperm as we didnt need to do this.
    As for the matching side.
They will match a donor as close to your husband as possible.
As far as I am aware there is still an 18month waiting list for sperm and you should get a selection of 3 donors.

They cant match up everyone but they will give you the option of 3 and you both can make an iformed decision.

Goodluck with your counselling appointment they are very nosey (and so they should be) and ask all kinds of questions ie. any marital splits in either families, mental illness, domestic violence etc etc

If you have any other questions just let me know.

    Hopefully I can help

    xx

sorry to be the bearer of bad news hun
The 18 month wait is from your first appointment with concept ie your counselling appointment. then when you get closer to the top of the list you will get your donors to choose from.

You may be lucky and the wait may be shorter. It was 18months for us but that was well and truely over a year and a half ago.

I hope that you get your list alot sooner.

Let me know how it all goes.

    Sending big hugs

    Hi Bec
I havent been on BB for ages - been so busy & just getting back into things. We have male factor & also moved on to DI at concept. We hardly had to wait at all for a donor - i think we had the option of starting straight away if we were interested those available! That may be lucky timing, or that we were existing patients, etc - i really dont know.
Its a hard decision to move on to DI but once you have made it, its a relief to get on to a treatment which offers a better chance of success.
All the best for you guys - we are on a cycle this month too, so heres hoping for BFP's finally for both of us!

hey hon - good to hear from you Appointment is tomorrow morning - very nervous but ready to get back into it all, have been on a break since sep/oct's last ivf cycle.

How did you decided to try diui after already doing ivf in the past? Im not sure if i want to try diui or move straight to divf. Concept said to me that I wouldnt have to wait for a donor so I will find out more about that tomorrow as well.

How did your counselling and donor coordinator appointment go - and how did you pick a donor? Sorry to ask so many questions - but would love to know more about concepts donor processes!

    hey,
dont be nervous - it will be fine - they are very straightforward and it is good to get straight back into it - Lord knows we get enough waiting in this game!
I went onto diui as i dont seem to have any infertility issues myself and so iui should suffice. If it doesnt work after a few more goes though i will try an ivf round to throw everything at it - we are getting very weary by now.
The counselling appt/s (might take 2 to get through their checklist) were fine - you just need to show that you are accepting of the situation & they do strongly encourage "telling the child" which we are fine with.
i dont think i actually had an appt with the donor coordinator - just spoke to her over the phone & email. She is really nice though & emailed and then mailed us details. We selected based on trying to get a match to my husband - not really that easy as there arent many to pick from to be honest. We also went for good medical background and the overall vibe we got reading their profile & reason for donating. You dont have to select one if none feel right - they send more profiles of available donors to you & then if still none suit you then you might need to wait until more become available. Im not sure i they can access a national bank or not - you can always ask.
So as soon as you have completed the counselling & selected a donor you are happy with - you can get started.
All the best for tomorrow - think of lots of questions tonight to write down & take in with you

thanks so much for the information, i feel a lot better already knowing some of that stuff.
At this stage the main decision is whether to do iui or ivf, like you we have done a LOT of transfers and treatment and i have had enough of it all. i think id rather just do ivf and get a stock of frozen embryos and use them (and hopefully fingers crossed have some left over for future siblings - thinking long term). Im a bit worried that my pcos and history of hyperstimulation will mean that i will have too many eggs in an iui cycle and it will have to be cancelled. one thing i am not willing to do is to go through any more cancelled cycles!

Will let you know how it goes tomorrow!

Hi guys I hope everyone is going well in the TTC department, me and DH have just been to our first counselling app with Concept to start the diui process after finding out DH has zero sperm for use with icsi earlier this year

I was just wondering how long the wait is for a donor, we have been told up to 6 months, does that mean we just wait until then for Concept to call us?

    Thanks
