Older couple wanting to adopt from OS

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone knows much about adopting children from overseas,
we are an older couple - i have read a bit over the last year on the internet and Thailand seems to be an option for older couples. Would love to hear any stories you have - we are doing our research - i was lead to believe from newspapers etc that it could take over 4yrs but after researching a bit - Thailand and a few other countries the wait is not as long as i thought especially as we are older we would most likely be allocated an older child.

We are starting on this path too here in SA. There are a lot of differences between the different countries, and some of it will depend on where you live in Australia. For us, the best two websites we found for information were our state website and the Attorney General's website. The first runs through criteria for our state and the second is a national concern with information sheets on all the countries that have agreements with Australia at the moment, plus information on other future possibilities. It has really helped us narrow down which countries we would like to apply to.
