Hi,

My name is Jeanette and my husband and I plan to adopt. We are going to TTC naturally next month, and that will be my last pregnancy.
When it comes time to have another baby we are going to adopt. We have made this decision as I have had a miscarriage and a stillbirth in the past and we hope we never have to experience that again. My health is quite damaged from the last pregnancy and so I really think my body can't cope with much more. So we are hoping the next pregnancy goes well and then in c ouple of years we will adopt a second child.
I'd love to hear other people's adoption stories.

Hi....I am PG at the moment, but for most of my life, I only wanted to adopt. I never wanted to have my own children....mainly because of health complications that meant that getting PG could be dangerous for me. So I can understand Jeanette....the only reason I am PG is DH and my health has improved. DH really wants one of his own, but before then we were actually looking into adopting an overseas child, because the process was supposed to be easier, but it closed earlier this year in QLD.... We have friends with overseas adopted children and they are such a joy! They are getting their little boy 'Luke' in a few months from Taiwan. They already have a little girl from Taiwan. SO heres to hoping the PG will continue to progress well, otherwise we will definately try to adopt soon!

my name is olivia iam 26 and have been told i may never have children.After many years(5) of tryin i have come 2 terms that it may never happen.We have talked about adoption and we would like 2 do so but have been told i is really hard and that this cost a packet.We live in nsw blacktown way and was wondering if there were any places near us we could find out more about this and what we need 2 do 2 c if we could go thoug with this

The Anglicare adoption services at Telopea is a good place to start - you are quite young. (Adoption Services) 02 9630 7877

Though age is no barrier these days but when there are so few babies relinquished and birth parents help choose - they prefer younger parents and they have very right to participate wholy in decision making these days.

I think Catholic has Centcare and DOCs another

It isn't as costly as you think - compared to intercountry adoptions and you would qualify for baby bonus too if baby was under a certain age.

The main costs are for the counselling /interviewing involved and court /solicitor fees.

I don't want to offend you but have you tried IVF - your post doesn't say why ?

Hi everyone, this is our story.

I'm Katherine and my husband and I have a 3 year old son who we adopted from South Korea.

We had many years (actually 10) of TTC and after IVF and the devastating advice from a highly regarded IVF specialist that he did not hold much hope of success for us, we began the journey toward adoption.

It all seems so long ago now that DS is very much the centre of our universe, but just talking about it and thinking about it brings it all rushing back.

It seems that DS was just what we needed in our lives - we had been home only six months when I discovered I was pregnant with our beautiful 18 month old DD, and now I am expecting again! Unbelievable, even for us, and we are living it! =D>

Looking forward to chatting to anyone interested in adoption.

Hi I am preg with baby #1 but am too thinking about adopting baby number 2 because of health reasons and I don't know if I could take another difficult pregnancy.

Interesting to hear that Qld has closed overseas adoptions - but I note that post in here dated back to 2003 was it?

Any information people could give me about adopting in Qld is welcome. email me please neeny1870@hotmail.com

I looked at the Qld gov website and it seems that the easiest adoption option is putting your name down for a disabled child. Whilst I'd love to give attention and a good home to a disabled child I don't think my health could stand up to it!

Well thanks for listening and hopefully this pregnancy will go well. Just don't want my child to be an only child as I have a brother and I know how valuable having a sibling can be.

Good luck Jacinta - we adopted our DS now almost 13 in Australia -when he was 13 months old.

I hope the wait for your child is short and sweet - may you be forever blessed by the child waiting for you to be their loving parents.

Congratulations on choosing China, it's a wonderful country. I hear the waits for ICA aren't more than about 12-18 months at the moment.

I'm new here...

Im 33, single, not married, never had kids, and im an adoptee.. i've lived in sydney all my life and am currently travelling down the path of searching for my birth family and reunion (hopefully). Mine is a closed adoption.

I have always felt very accepting of my adoption and have known since I can remember. I have three other siblings who are also adopted. We're very close.

The journey is a very emotional one, and to be honest, I didn't expect it to be so intense.
But I feel I could offer some answers to anyone hoping to adopt a child, and give some perspective for this side of the adoption.

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to introduce myself as I'm new here.

I'm Kim (34) My husband is David (34) We are in Victoria

At the end of this year we will have been married for 12 years and we have been trying that long to start a family.

I have PCOS, and only one tube which is completely blocked ( I only have the one due to the removal of the other in 1992 when I had an Ectopic pregnancy in which my tube actually burst )

We did IVF around 7 years ago with no success, we then looked into surrogacy and for the last 2 years were on the Intercountry Adoption program (applying for China) and had got to the point of being ready to get a social worker, then had to stop due to the costs being just too much for us.

So we are looking into Local Adoption now and went to an information session on Monday the 5th February and sent back the papers the next day asking to continue and be invited to the training sessions.

Hopefully we will hear something back soon.

We have a nursery set up already because of how long we have been working towards making our family, so I'm hoping that we will eventually get to use it.
