Has anyone studied Editing/ Publishing?

Hi!
I've noticed that an editing/ publishing is offered at Macleay College. Has anyone done this course or something similar? I'm interested in it but not sure what the career prospects are. My questions are..
- is it easy to find part time work?
- how does the level of pay vary?
Thanks to anyone who can help. I'm currently a teacher on maternity leave but I keep thinking that a change from the classroom would be nice!

I think we would be good in editing/ publishing as we already do so much marking for our job!
