A few weeks in......how is everyone finding it?

So we are a few weeks in to study and how are all of you ladies coping?

I don't particularly feel very organised and feel like I could just get swallowed up by it all especially if I fall behind in my reading. I am doing a double degree- nursing/midwifery and am struggling with the anatomy and physiology subject seen as I have no chem/biology back ground. Although I feel a bit better about it today cos I now realise I don't need to know the all the detail that the lecturer is going into thankfully!!

So I am patiently waiting for that settled/organised feeling to happen

I'm at the end of my nursing degree and although I feel organized I am still slightly panicked, we are out on placement all ready in specialized areas and it's feeling a little real.

I hear you on anatomy and physiology. I am reading the lecture slides (pre lecture) and copying them into my notes, then reading the textbook, then going to the lecture, then reading through it all again and it's starting to sink in but it's really difficult. The rest seems not too bad, a lot of reading though. I have the twins in daycare 5 days a week and I'm so grateful as I have a day and a half committed to study which makes it easier.

I have managed a grand total of 2 hours of study so far. Not good since I am doing two papers. DH has promised me a day this weekend to hopefully get a good chunk of a rapidly approaching assignment done.

I'm doing a double degree social work/arts (psych major).

I'm only pt but I'm hating it already. I feel like every spare minute is spent on reading that I don't even need to pass the subject!!

Had my first 2 assessments for psych already (there is one every week) then a major assignment in June and an exam. No rest whatsoever.

Same as you girls, looking forward to feeling settled!

And yes I HATE the group work. We have 7 people in our group. 1 dropped out Already and 2 more we haven't heard from.... So frustrating!

Freya, I hate group work too! Having to rely on other to get their act together is so frustrating!

So far it's not been too bad. I had two essays that were dead boring, so they were hard to get into, but I got one done and submitted and I realised the other one wasn't due for another week so that was a bonus. My semester is pretty light on really - but I'm sure that next semester will bite LOL.

I'm also doing a double degree...Social Work and Law. This is my first year studying law and am feeling slightly overwhlemed as I haven't had a chance to do alot of reading this week. But what I have read I am loving it! And I already love Social Work so bonus! Just glad I made the right decision with taking on law as well.

Lol I feel sorry for you girls! I'm only doing the STEPS program and I'm getting SLAMMED - missed Tertiary Prep and Computing on Wednesday night because I just couldn't find the energy to get dressed and go to class - and DD1 was at daycare all day so it wasn't like I'd been hugely busy at home :/
I'm having fun though, and proud of myself that I'm (barely!) managing to get ahead in my classes - I'll be absent the week after next due to surgery so I really have to bust my buns this week and finish what I'm catching up on and charge forward so I don't fall really behind.

Wow exams already. My exams dont start till 5 June!!

I got the task of collaborating our group assignment which is a lot more work than I thought. 2 people haven't referenced at all and those same 2 haven't put anything into PowerPoint so now I have to create it for them based on their summaries. No one even closely stuck to the word limit so I have to cull without getting anyone upset. I haven't done a group assignment off campus before and feel like I jumped in the deep end.

After this one I've got a major assignment due mid may and another on 1 June before exams. So I'm cruising after this week, we have labs to do in between but they are only 700 words each so I don't really count them as assignments.

Gl with your exam on Tuesday!!!!

Wow I'm glad I went with TAFE and not uni because even that is hard work.

We are group assigning ATM and omg some people. We have a lady so stuck in her way she will not agree to anything else.
Luckily I have the job of writing it up so bugger her but I need to pass.
I have written up to versions of assignment one with her stubborn ways and one the rest of the group has done completing the task.
Wonder how that will go down.

I have heard a few people say that TAFE is harder work that uni because you have a lot more contact hours, are you there a lot of the time?

I did off campus tafe - accounting and on campus tafe - hospitality and loved them both!! It's more hands on than uni which is very theory based so I find uni harder, mostly because keeping motivated is hard when all you do is reading and researching (until 3rd year for me)

Group assignments do suck!! But I guess for me its really an integral part of social work isn't it. We had a girl added to our group 4 days before the assignment wad due- so unfair!!! And 2 that didn't even make contact.
