I am seriously thinking about applying for next year, I have had a look at the website and it sounds great, plus they have the option for part time which I am happy about, as I will have a new bub plus my 3 older kids to work around. I should be able to get credit for at least 2 of my B Nursing subjects that I have already done, mainly anatomy and physiology, which would be great too. The only prob is the travel time, because I live on the north side of Brisbane so will have to negotiate the god awful Gateway Motorway and the tolls, plus trying to work out care for the kids for the days I am on campus and at the hospital...but I suppose I could just apply and worry about all that if I get in! I would definitely be trying to get placement close to home too, probably Caboolture or Redcliffe hospitals, or the Royal at a stretch. But if I got in and could work all that stuff out, it would be perfect!

Hi Bon, it does sound awesome doesn't it!
You will only really be travelling to Logan for the 3 weeks of intensive training at the beginning of each semester, so if you can manage to get your clinical experience at redcliffe or caboolture I think you'd be fine :)
it is mean't to be quite full-on though, I expressed my desire for another baby tot he lecture last night and her comments were "wait til you've finished the degree for that". Hmmm was hoping I could time one for over the summer break or something, LOL.
They are extended semesters though so that's something we will have to keep in mind.

OH MY GOSH Spice - how exciting is all of this!!!!! Im gettin soooo excited - but only 50 places! cant they be offering 100 at least hehehe might make it easier to get in!
was there a big turn out last night?
I rung them and asked if they could email or post out anything i might miss out on and they emailed me their pamphlet they had, just basically telling a bit about it - so if anyone wants that i can forward it on!
Bon - ive got a few of the worry's u have also - but im trying not to think about them, im just going to apply and than work it out from there!

I'll be doing lots of juggling too. Although we only really live 35 minutes away from the campus I'll be juggling a toddler and a paid job with Uni. I also really want to have another bubba sooner rather than later. Perhaps I'll have one after I've done the first year of study then maybe just drop back to part time for a year or so.

im in the same boat i want another one soon also - if we bth get in how bout we "support" each other in not getting preg for the 1st year at least!!!! hahaha ;)

Well I have decided to just apply and see what happens, then worry about the other stuff later. I don't know if I will be able to negotiate classes and clinicals and follow throughs with 4 kids to look after, one of which will be a baby, but I will regret it if I don't at least apply. Might put QUT double nursing/midwifery degree as a second preference. Applications for 2010 courses open on QTAC on July 1!

Well you can now apply for 2010 admission on the QTAC website.
Anyone done it yet??? I'm still tosing up whether to sit the STAT test to try and improve my rank. I'm going to put BMid @ Griffith as my first preference and BMid @ SCU Tweed as my second preference.

Well I have changed my mind and decided to put B Mid at ACU as my first preference, because it's so much closer to home. I haven't applied yet though, probably will do it next week. If I get in, I am still undecided as to whether I will accept or defer though, because it all hinges on whether I can get care for the baby - I don't want to put her in day care because she will still be so little. So it's all up in the air at the moment.

I havent applied yet either - was tossing up doing the STAT but decided not too - im doing the TPP at USQ so hopefully that will help!
Not sure what to put down as my pref - i want Griffith but doubt i will get in - so maybe ACU!

Why wouldn't you get into Griffith HJ?? You never know!!!! :crossfingers: I"m doing the Preparing for success program through Southern Cross. When does your TPP finish?

hj - if you want Griffith, put that first - you might get in, and if you don't they will go for your second preference and see if you are accepted into that, and so on down your list of preferences. So it's definitely worth putting the uni you really want to go to first.

mamasupha - im yet to start the TPP it starts 20th of July - so im hoping that there is a section on the applications where i can write that i am doing the TPP - its too be completed by end of semester this year!
Is that going to be a problem in applying for 2010 does anyone know? am i wasting my time applying when the TPP hasnt started yet?

HJ... NO it's not wasting time, in the QTAC application you just put down what you are studying and then when it gets to processing they will get in contact with the uni and see how you're doing with it. My Uni prep course won't finish til beginning of feb as I'm doing 2 units this semester and 2 during summer school.!

hey HJ Bon & Mama, hope we all get into our chosen one. Yes hj as Bon said definately do put your first choice down as your first pref cause you never do know :) Hey had you thought of even applying for UQ? Aren't you kinda out Ipswich way? The ranking needed to get into UQ has come down heaps since they first offered the course. I think this year the cutoff was 82 so next year it could be even lower, who knows . . .
