I am writing a section on ethics for my thesis. i am stuck on the first sentence in looking at beneficence. i then go onto to talk about how beneficence/non-maleficence relates to my topic. It is just an introductory sentence but i can't get the words right.
Any ideas will be considered. It's like the heat has fried my brain.
Thank-you in advance!
Kate
I am having difficulty getting the right words for this sentence:
"The principles of beneficence (to do good) and non-maleficence (to do no harm) work in tandem and are balanced against each other."
I think the first bit is right, just don't think the last bit (and are balanced against each other) is quite right.
are any of these better
...must be balanced against each other.
... and a balance between the two....
I studied Ethics in my undergad years....if you're still going on ethics and/or ethics clearence for your thesis I can post you my text books to borrow if you like.
Hubby went though a heaps of ethics stuff for his Masters and now his Phd so I feel your pain!
