Who's applying for uni next year?

C'mon ladies, I want to know if you're applying and whther you're now also going to have to endure the long wait until January for the main round offers. I am looking for hands to hold when January rolls around!

I have applied for BA of Mid for the 2nd year running and this time I am in for a chance with early round offers having finalised all of my applications already.

Come on - it is our year coming up !!!

I'm going back to uni next year, back to my Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy). Will probably only do 2 subjects a semester as I work full time & we're planning on starting IVF next year as well. I need to make sure the subjects in which I deal with chemicals are done in first sememster.

Excellent news! It's nervewracking this waiting. I am hoping for all our sakes that we'll be successful come January. Do you have to wait for an offer though. Schaz? Or is it straight in for you? I too have put in my application already (can you tell I'm keen?) and now the wait until first round offers seems miles away.

Schaz, I am going to be working full time too and will be trying to clear two units per semester part time for now as well. 5 of the first year units can be done externally too so that's probably how I'll go to start with.

I've applied for BPsych at Curtin Uni. I have been told I'm a real good chance, but I am still crapping myself worrying I won't get in. So will hold your hand Relle, for sure!

One thing I found with doing external subjects is that you need to be so organised (with the ability to find a minimum of 10 hours per subject per week)! I prefer going to a lecture. But in saying that, one of my girlfriends is about to graduate from her bachelor's degree and she's done the whole thing externally.

I know! My DH did his post grad externally and he was very disciplined with going to Uni for 2-3 hourly blocks 5 times a week, and he's drumming into me that I need to get into that sort of routine from the get-go. I too worry about staying organised but with going back to work after 2 years off, I don't think work would be happy with me requesting study leave as soon as I walk in the door! Lol! I'm only working 4 days a week though, so I still have one full day with Charlie, so I won't feel like I'm neglecting my family!

Sushee that is so fantastic that you are in with a great chance.

Me on the other hand, last year there was 5000 applicants for 250 places . I have done my Doula training since though and started a Dip in Childbirth Education, but still it is sooooo competitive. I will have my first disapointment in November I am sure.

Schaz, I would love to do externally, but I am also worried about being motivated.

I have applied for a bachelor of nursing. I also applied for Midwifery, though I am not expecting to get since its so competitive. I have to do STAT as I dont have TER/UAI to use, so booked my STAT for october. Hoping I get into something!

I am currently enrolled in a Master of Educational Leadership program and will be enrolling in it again next year (provided I pass this year ). Hmmm, I am supposed to be writing an assignment now actually, but this is so much more fun.

WTG Karina and get back to work Starfish! Lol! Karina, I did my STAT in August. Wanted to know how I did before I applied! Good luck for October, I hadn't sat an exam in donkey's years, so it was pretty scarey leading up to it, but it wasn't so bad in the end.

Relle, do you guys get first round offers in November? No way! Our first round offers are online on the 17th of January! Well, I'll be hoping for good news for you come November then. I reckon you can do it, my sweet!

Sushee, how did you find the STAT? I have looked at some of the practice questions available on the internet. Is it pretty much the same as those? They dont look too difficult. Just logic and things like that, not all that different to those online IQ quizes. I havent done an exam in a while either! Last exam I did was HSC exams in year 12. I've been to TAFE since school, but we didnt do exams at TAFE.

it was similar to the practise questions, but a tad more difficult IMO. Or maybe it was the pressure of trying to make sure you finish it within the time given, I'm not sure. I honestly thought I'd stuffed it up, though, but I ended up doing better than expected. Just give it your best shot, I'm sure you'll do great!

I thought I had stuffed the Stat as well when I sat it last year.

I got 74.4 for my Stat and I still have no idea whether that actually is a good score or not! lol I know my stat was above the cut off for the apps that Unisa looked at, but no idea with the Vic unis.

Karina Goodluck with your App, what unis have you applied for?

Sushee, yeah hun, some unis and some courses do early round offers, so I thought I would get in before all of the schoolies get their scores.

But I am still - bring on Jan!!!!

I sat the STAT in 2000. I did a prep course first though as I didn't do year 11 or 12, so I had never really done essays or sat exams. The prep course was very beneficial. I got into the course I wanted, and am working towards my degree now (and have been since 2001!!). I am hoping to get in to do a post grad diploma after my degree, which will lead to a masters.

I did have a think bout the STAT prep course but didn't get round to it, and fortunately did well enough anyway. I may have been a little less nervous perhaps, on the day, had I done a prep course.

Relle is that STAT score you posted your TER equivalent score? I calculated my TER equivlent score and I more than meet the historic cut offs for psych. Does that mean I'll probably get my first preference though?

ooo I've got to pick your brain JoMarie! My 4th preference is Community Studies (after all the Bpsych courses n each WA uni) and a BA in Pysch and Counselling my 5th preference.
