Dairy Free Easter Eggs

So Easter is next month and I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get dairy free eggs or is it just easier to try and melt down some dairy free choc and make my own?

My sister has to buy dairy free for one of her kids. You can get some at target/big w i think. They are more common now days as alot more people seem to have allergies. You would be after vegan easter eggs, there are a few online shops that sell them if you google vegan easter eggs or chocolate.

I just spoke to my sister (she rang while posting lol) and she said Darell Lea and coles have a range called Sweet Williams chocolate which is dairy free and most dark chocolate is dairy free although the kids probably wont like it anyway

Most dark chocolate isn't dairy free anymore. Once upon a time, but not now. Sweet William do eggs and bunnies, you can get them from the website, and Big W have dairy free eggs, I'll try and get back to you with the brand.

It's like a real life easter egg hunt for grown ups!

Arghhhhh - my kidlets are dairy free too. It's so hard!!!!
I'm thinking I'm going to melt some sweet William cooking buds and make a few of my own. Only problem is it tastes like crap and the older 2 won't eat it!

Thanks everyone, will check out Big W and Darrell Lea.. she wont be getting a lot anyway but atleast if anyone asks about choc for her i can point them in the right direction.
I'd love to do an easter egg hunt for the girls, wonder if they do mini eggs too.

My aunt used to buy Carab eggs. No idea how you actually spell it, but my cousin was dairy free.
They were pretty exxy, so she'd only buy one then make the rest. We used to have alot of fun making them

Maybe avoid the dairy-free chocolate if it takes like rubbish and do some baked dairy free treats or what about those candy eggs? Are they dairy free?

DD2 actually likes her sweet william chocolate so if i can find the cooking buds i might be able to just make her some.
I think the only reason i want to do eggs is because DD1 will get them at Z is at the stage she's started realising what she's missing.

My niece got her son some dairy free eggs from Darrell Lee a few years ago.

DSD and DS can't stand the sweet william chocolate but DD loves it - especially the buds!
I have found them in the health section at Coles and woolies..
If you can't find them, let me know and I'll pick you up a couple of bags and post them to you...
Actually - we use the buds in cooking and baking and they actually taste pretty good.. I might get DSD and DS to try them instead of the bar...

I am dairy free cause of DD and i am pretty upset i dont get easter eggs! Lol. I like the sweet williams choc
But havent seen the button ones? Just the blocks... I might have to find them online and just make my own!

MrsBexie - I've found them in the health food section of Coles and woolies... To me they taste better than the bars or blocks of sweet william...

I make my own easter eggs dairy free.... How you ask?

I went to spot light and grabbed some easter egg molds.

I then went to woollies and picked up 3 blocks of their compound dark cooking chocolate (its dairy free). Then I got 1 small tin of coconut cream and some mini marshmallows. I came home and melted the chocolate in the microwave (30 seconds at a time on 70% power and stirring in between in order to not burn the chocolate). I mixed in 2 tbsp of nuttelex, the coconut cream and some of the mini marshmallows. I filled the molds and chucked them in the fridge. To put the eggs together, I brushed hot nuttelex on them to melt the chocolate and then put them together and wrapped them up in cling wrap or foil or something to hold them together until they set... popped them back into the fridge.... I had my own easter eggs that the girls and I could have!!

I also found some marshmallow "bunny tails" in the shops this week, I grabbed a bag for them...

Oh nom nom. I might have to try that. I'm supposed to be dairy free now Is it gluten free too, do you know?

I'm not entirely sure about the gluten of that chocolate in particular sorry....

I do add the mini marshmallows because I find the dark chocolate is pretty bitter and I didn't want the kids to have too much chocolate....

I'm in a smallish town so we don't get the buds, might have a look at the bigger supermarkets close by and see what i can find.

Ohh Christy that sounds delicious, you could almost do like a rocky road and add in chopped berries... mmmmmmm might have to give that a shot
