DS2 is fully toilet trained, but i put pullups on him to go to the shops. Because after a very embarassing incident at the shops one day (he needed to go, we couldn't make it to the toilet and a poo fell on the floor - i was mortified), so i use the pullups in case we cant get there in time. But i'm wondering how absorbant the cloth training pants are? would they hold a full wee? ie, long enough to get to the toilet or car and take it off, without leaking? Because if he wees in the pullups, they are literally full, you have to take it off. I guess because he goes quite a while between wees, rather than small amounts more frequently.
The training pants I have Imsy Vimsy are not very absorbent but they would keep a poo in. If a wee was done it would most likely drip onto the floor.
I have a nearly 3yo who is also almost fully TT. I mainly only use pull ups at night now. So far no accidents at the shops yet *touch wood*. He is quite good at giving me enough notice.... plus I make sure I just take him lots when we are out... if I see a vacant baby change room cubicle i routinely just "drive' the pram straight in.
I used training pants from Big W for DS1 and they definitely aren't absorbant enough to hold a full wee. They are great for little dribbles and they would definitely catch poo LOL! I'm not sure if other brands are different, but that is my experience with them.
Oh are there not any with bamboo lining or like a pocket style?? we used to use pocket nappies with bamboo trifolds and they held heaps. But i'm not keen to go back to those as its a nappy and he doesn't wear nappies anymore. I just think the pullups are so expensive.
