My beautiful (but feisty) 3.5 week old seems to hate nappy change time with a passion, I know this isn't uncommon, but he works himself into quite a state, and no matter how fast I try to change him - or sooth him with dummy, touch etc, sometimes he just gets to the point of the scream/cry (you know the cry where you'd think you were murdering him).
I had a mobile over the change table which I have moved incase it was disturbing him, I get everything ready before undressing him - eg nappy, wipes, etc to be as fast as I possibly can, not sure what else to do, or just accept he's not happy and build a bridge. He is happy again as soon as he is dressed and and settles down straight away but as a new Mum I just hate hearing him so distressed
Any tips - or should I just become an olympic speed nappy changer LOL
My DS hated nappy change time in the early days, but now loves it. Does your bub enjoy watching you, etc if you talk to him while he's lying down? I sort of mixed change time and play time, talking and singing to him while I went about changing him. Sorry I'm not more help, but I'm sure he'll grow out of it in time.
My DS isnt a fan of being changed either....its not fun huh!
I got a mobile type thing for his change table and that seemed to help him a fair bit, generally as soon as he hears the music he is totally captivated.
He would also scream the house down having a bath too....so I have just been slowly letting him have more time with less clothes on and he seems to be slowly calming down and getting used to being nakey lol
good luck, I hope you can find soemthing to calm your little one too...its hard hearing them scream like that!!
Susie hated Nappy time and screamed all the time...we took her to a chiro at 3 weeks and turned out her tailbone was out...they fixed it and instantly she was happy and wriggling her bum lots at nappy change time...could be worth a look if theres a kids chiro over there. we took her to kirokids in ballarat where they use NIP not manipulation
My DD hated nappy changes too. Eventually she started looking at the mobile that hung above the change table and that distracted her. So maybe putting the mobile back will help eventually?
