    Pain After Sex During Pregnancy...

Sorry if this is too much information, but has anyone else experienced an achey, throbbing feeling right down low (the vagina basically) after sex whilst pregnant? I don't mean in the actual birth canal, but the entire external region- outer labia, perenium etc. Kinda like period pain. For me it starts about 10 mins after sex, and lasts for about 3 or 4 hours. I know there is increased blood flow down there when you are pregnant, and when I stand for long periods I experience the same aching sensation but milder.
Last time after we DTD it was so unpleasant, I had to lie down with my pelvis raised to nullify the throbbing. Its really putting me off DTD again.....
The thing is - I don't remember it being this extreme during my first pregnancy - could it be that the increased blood flow to the vagina is heightening past trauma to the area from my first birth perhaps?? I mean, it wasn't that long ago.....

I think it could be related to the extra bloodflow. Perhaps taking it a bit more easily in future might help?

Maybe even try a cold facewasher with some ice in it (as pleasant as that would be given its nearly winter) may help with any throbbing?

I notice the same thing sometimes but a little different. Sometimes I will feel a burning sensation so bad afterwards that I have to put a pillow between my legs and bite my tounge. The pain hurts even worse if I try to pee afterwards. Though it is also achy like you say. Besides the extra blood flow I believe it is also that we are more sensitive when pregnant. We need a little more help to get us in the mood. Which in turn gets the proper amount of lubrication. If DH or DP just jumps right in it is hard to get lubricated and it can rub like a rug burn afterwards. Have you noticed that you are not quite as into it when it hurts after? Maybe suggesting to DH or DP you need a little bit more. Sorry for the TMI. lol Hope this helped

Thanks Guys - yes Jessica, the discomfort afterward has certainly changed my attitude to sex. I think I will opt for alternative methods of sexual contact for the remainder of the pregnancy - I really just can't be bothered with pain. I'm sure I'll have enough to deal with after the labour!!
