Oh i had to laugh. Ashton if my absolute favorite!!! we are having a boy and my DH hates the name too because of the same reason!!.
I want this name so badly lol.
good luck but that is my choice
Man I detest finding a boys name. I'll be so relieved if this one is a girl simply for the naming factor. There are so many I love but DH (an ex-teacher) dislikes most of them as they remind him of his students- lol. He simply will not accept any 'common' name.
So, please tell me what you think of these- some are commonish, some are not. Don't be afraid to be as honest as you like - I'm hard to offend!
Ashton (my fave but DH not keen due to Ashton Kutcher)
Braelan
Castian/Kastian (rhymes with the Bastian in Sebastian)
Camden/Kamden (yes - its a place in London, but it was a name first).
Colby
Kian (Key-an)
Deslan (Dez-lan)
Jasper
Jyles (Rhymes with Myles)
Lewis
Makai (Ma-kye)
Mylan
Tristan

My fave name on your list is Kian as it is my angel nephews name, spelt Kheean.
I also like Ashton and Makai.
Not too keen on the others, but I think names always end up growing on you...and you will know what to call your baby when you see him/her.
I love, love, love Jasperand Lewis is a gorgeous name too.
LOL Krissy - that's amazing. Why do guys have to be so difficult!! I think we should get the last say given we have to push the baby out of our vaginas!!
Ashton (my fave but DH not keen due to Ashton Kutcher) - sorry, I tend to agree with DH!
Braelan - sounds too made up for me.
Castian/Kastian (rhymes with the Bastian in Sebastian) - meh.
Camden/Kamden (yes - its a place in London, but it was a name first). - Camden is cool, not with a K though.
Colby - see, I think of this as a girl's name, or the cheese...
Kian (Key-an) - meh.
Deslan (Dez-lan) - Des as a NN??
Jasper - very cool!
Jyles (Rhymes with Myles) - why wouldn't you spell it Giles?
Lewis - another top pick!
Makai (Ma-kye) - sounds like Mackay, nope.
Mylan - sounds like Mylanta.
Tristan - a bit dated.
Hope I wasn't too harsh, but you wanted opinions!
Good luck.
MYLAN!!!!!!!

Camden is lovley.
Oh, i soooo hear you ... WE had absolutely NO boy's name right up until our baby was born (DP & i just couldn't agree on a single name) ... and bub turned out to be a girl (thankfully we had a girl's name we BOTH liked) ... and we were more relieved she was a girl JUST cause we had NO boy's name
... I just love BRAELAN

Thanks guys for the honest opinions - and no, none of you were too harsh, its just what I wanted to hear!!
I couldn't help but laugh out loud at some of your thoughts (ie- Colby & cheese). I had thought of that but wasn't sure that the association was that strong. I will be scrapping that one off the list. Not one of my faves anyway....
Sequoia- I hadn't thought of the heart-burn medicine Mylanta - I am so anti-pharmaceutical so thats a real turn off for me!!
So the faves so far seem to be Ashton, Camden (with a C!), Lewis & Jasper.
mmmm.....
Keep the opinions coming - it really does help!!

Mylan - no
Tristan- nope.
lol good luck with it!!
Jellybean, I so understand your conundrum. I was so hoping for a girl first time around as I think DH and I would have had serious marriage problems had we had a boy. We just couldn't agree on a boy's name. All the ones he suggested were too "trendy" for my liking and I found they would date too much. While the ones I liked didn't sound right in English or didn't really sit well with our last name. We still have that issue a bit this time around, bu not to the same extent.
Having said that, I don't really like any of your names - sorry. But, if I had to pick one it would probably be Lewis, Kian or Jyles (in that order).
Sasa
