Hmm Nappies are on the airer. DH let them go too far again. Some nappies even went on bottoms while still slightly damp from the wash. Not good.
MMM - Welcome back. They get the blame for a lot of my comp issues too.
Gigi - Yay on NC having Moogoo!!! and the new store is close enough to your place to make it cheaper to buy IRL with fuel costs than to pay postage for online too!!!
i am back for today & tomorrow...am home today...had a nightmare night last night...and a NOT-so-sick little boy....who WAS sick... oh well a day off work....
nappies....got a heap drying on the clothes horse on the front verandah
Had health centre this morning and the only redeeming comment the nurse made was how cool the kids nappies were and that she sees a few of them! Might have to try peering over the neighbours fences to see if any clothies live nearby. Pity the estate stipulated 6ft fences and I'm nowhere near that tall As to the rest of the appointment I want our old nurse back!
Oh and I finally got my paws on a size1 Auriel for little miss but it doesn't seem to suit her shape
Yay I managed to log in today!! Woohoo!!
Couple of questions for you guys about washing/drying my nappies.....
So my Dad is buying a dryer for my birthday (yipppeeee) will my MCN be ok thrown the dryer most of the time...or should I only use it for emergency washes???
Also this might be really silly......but when I am doing my pre-wash for new MCN, can I just chuck them in the dryer and back in the wash again or is that not so good for them??
Sorry to have gone MIA then return just to blast you guys with questions but I have a very cool layby Ive nearly paid off and dont wanna ruin them straight away lol
WOJB: prefold and bummis cover (yup I really need to get brave and try his CT)
Helen - Most nappies can be dried on LOW ONLY in the dryer. It is better to put them in the sun as much as possible though to reduce stains. You dont need to put pockets and covers in there because they dry so fast anyway. Prewashing certainly can be done with the dryer. Makes it much sooner that they can be used just watch for shrinkage on the bamboo because some bamboo is not preshrunk enough beforse sewing.
Hey all
No new cloth news here just wondering how many nappies Id need for 4 in cloth fulltime? Im thinking of just having flats while the triplets are tiny and buying heaps of OSFM so I can use them for Aiden as well
Rhy you will have the flats PLUS the NB stashes that get sent up for you. You might not even need flats. Aiden was in cloth as a NB wasn't he? You will need 3 times as much plus a few more to allow for you to have an off day with the washing. How big is your stash now? I would be hyenaing B4B as much as possible if I was you, and keep an eye on the BB classifieds. As my stash and clothes get outgrown I will send them up on the bus for you, nice big parcels every now and then With 2 in cloth full time I can get away with 80 odd, and one of them is not NB. So I would say MINIMUM 160 that is a LOT!!

We'll help you out anyway - I'm sure lots of people will be donating their newborn stash in your direction!!!!!
Helen - I dry everything on the clothes airer and whatever isn't dried after two days hanging inside gets chucked in the dryer. So usually thats just bamboo boosters and stuff like that. All pockets and microfibre inserts dry within a day.
Sammi - I'm shattered too. Finally got my hands on a CGR and its not right here either. *sigh*
Rhyb I think flats will be smart, because they will dry quickest - I know in Cairns drying's not the biggest of issues, but I think it'll still prove to be a bonus.
As for the OSFM's, what do you like already? I think if it was me I'd be getting whatever decent thing is cheapest...I'm actually thinking they'll be in flats/really small nappies for awhile, since as triplets they're likely to be smaller than average at birth. So you may have quite a bit of time to decide what you want.
Oh myfreakingosh rhyb, 3 of the lil tackers, ooohhhh you best be takin out shares in a nappy company....and get yourself the mothership of all clothes horses
Congrats tho, bet you must be excited.
Kitt3n, I really like my pookey pockets, I have 2 AI2s and they often serve as our night nappy(cause we still do a 2am feed/change) they hold up really well.
Why is my kid so flippin cute at home, smiling and cooing and then a complete demon when taken out in public?
I just want him to be cute for everyone else too
WOLB Bum G with Cee Jays booster instead of microfleece, Cause I recon her boosters are Da Bomb
Rhy, Just realised they will be here in wet season. Do you have a dryer? You will need at least 200 in wet season!!! Maybe become a consultant for a OSFM brand that you like. Then you get them cheaper. And please let us know what you like on Aiden because chances are that will suit the triplets too.
I think I am reaching that stage in the pg when the unsolicited advice is coming (mainly because I now look pg rather than just like I had a big lunch!) - I know they all mean and I am not venting re advice (just yet lol)
I just thought you would all appreciate my comeback...
I love the look on their faces with the following conversation:
Them: blah blah disposable brand, blah blah nappy cream, blah blah
Me: Thanks for the advice re disposable nappies but DP and I have decided we are using cloth
<insert their shocked look here>
Them: but you don't know what your getting yourself into... I remember when I/my mum/my grandma used cloth and I mean it is so much easier with disposables
Me: It may have been more convenient and that is the great thing about cloth - it has evolved to compete with the apparent convenience of disposables. There is now modern cloth nappies which are shaped like a disposable but so much better for your babies bum etc etc <insert MCN, cloth spiel here>
Ah, I love it when each time they come up with a reason as to why I should just 'give in and use sposies' I have an informed reason about why I am choosing cloth!
I have never said I will never use a disposable (I hope never to have a need but I know the need may arise) but yeah for me and yeah for cloth!
Oh, and yeah to all you wonderful ladies for sharing the info that makes me an informed cloth user-to-be
Wow Rhyb natural triplets w/ identical twins in the mix!!!! (I just read the pg announcement ) Congratulations!!!!! How good are you wanting to use cloth for them!
Good to see you back Kitt3n!!!! Missed you!
Did anyone else see the CT newsletter? They are doing some of their minkee prints in wetbags!!!! They are launching them at the brissy expo lucky brissy girls! Though I emailed shell saying I hope she had lots cause I didn't want to miss out and she said they will be online beofre the expo hopefully! I want a giraffe and an angle dots one.
Em wet through her new minilala today. I used a microfibre and hemp or bamboo booster (can't remember which), she was soaked through. Not enough pre washing still i think.
Holy moly Rhyb, congrats! If you need clothes (ie onsies etc) I can give you some 0000 and 000 neutral ones (most of my newbie clothes are boyish though otherwise there would be more). When Ali sends you nappies I'll get her to whack em in with them
Erm got a load of nappies to do and I cant be bummed. Ds2 is going in sposies for awhile, got some blister issues happening that arent clearing up no matter what I do so its heavy duty NR cream time.
