My DH and I are planning a trip to the Gold Coast when our baby is 5-6 months old and were just talking about the logistics of it - and are stumped by what to do re car travel - eg catching a cab from the airport to hotel etc - do we need to take a car seat away with us, can you hire cabs with baby seats - If travelling in taxi's with a baby are the child restraint guidelines the same? etc etc
Can anyone with experience give us some tips on the best way to go here, we are thinking it might just be easier to get a hire car with a car seat for the duration of our stay (although we probably wont use it much)
You can certainly hire them with a hire car - we've done that before.
Otherwise, you can google Hire for Baby and they will hire out capsules or car seats fairly cheaply and they've branches all over australia. Problem would be getting to the Hire for Baby store by taxi though...
If you're not too strapped for space and/or weight it could well be worth taking your own seat for peace of mind.
You can hire taxis with seats but book ahead if you can - I was in Sydney with DD1 and I had to wait 2 hrs once!
Im pretty sure you can still ride in a taxi with bub in your arms but maybe check with RACQ to be sure.
Enjoy your holiday!
