    How would you pronounce?

    Alicia

Would you be inclined to say it "ah-LEE-shah" or "ah-LEE-see-ah"

    I would say Ah-lee-shah.
If it was spelt Alisia I would say Ah-lee-see-ah.

    That's my name!!

I am an Ah-lee-see-ah, some people call me Ah-lee-sha. Ticks me off a bit... I figure Alicia's are Ah-lee-see-ah's and Ah-lee-sha's should be spelt Alisha, Aliesha etc - Although I do think Alicia looks alot prettier, maybe I am too bias I do love the name either way!! - I also get called Ah-liss-ee-ah a bit too...

Alicia Silverstone is also an Ah-lee-see-ah who is always called Ah-lee-sha... Little bit of trivia for you hehe

My DH cousin is Alicia ( said " ah-lee-see-ah") think that's how you had it. Second option anyway, with an emphasis on the "c" if that makes sense??

In regards to "say it how it's spelt" then I would say that second option is spot on. Since when do we pronnounce "ci" as a "sh"......that's how a "sh" is pronnounced. It's a C not an S.

    I would pronounce it Aleesha.

Erin - there are lots of words with ci that we say as sh - delicious, suspicious, conscious....

I only know 1 Alicia and she pronounces it Aleesha so I guess thats how I'd assume it were pronounced.
There is also the Acacia flower which is pronounced Akaisha.
Although I am fond of both pronounciations for Alicia!!

So a bit of both really. We have a surname that we already have to correct people with so a first name you are constantly telling people how to say would probably be really annoying.

I think I like ah-LEE-see-ah better so may need to find an more obvious spelling to get people to say it that way if we want to use it. Alysia, Alesia...

The thing is though most people will say her name after they have heard it said by you - or someone who already knows it.
Very few people will READ her name only never hearing you say it.
So if you say Alicia as Aleeseeah then thats how people will say it iykwim?

I have a name that people cannot say and cannot pronounce to save themselves lol even when I have just introduced myself to them! But Alicia is easy on the ears so you are unlikely to have that issue.
