There is some info HERE![]()
Hi all,
I'm having a huge mental blank; I was sure that I'd read some information on Vitamin K injections at birth in either Henci Goer's or Sarah Buckley's book, but have just checked both and there's nothing in either! So, my question is, where did I read it?! Do you know of any books with chapters on Vitamin K (the pros, cons and necessity/lack of)?
It is, of course, entirely possible that I've confused myself and actually read about it here on BB! But, I can't seem to find the info I'm looking for here either... I think it was something along the lines of Vit K being unnecessary in the case of a vaginally-delivered baby where there was no need for forceps/ventouse/etc as there is minimal trauma and therefore the chance of newborn haemorrhage is low.
Hope that makes some sense!
TIA

Excellent. Thanks Danni.
Still looking for books though...
you will find MASSES in a google search.
Also, do some research into the conditions that the Vit K is intended to prevent and the chances of these actually happening. Very interesting.
Research what they do in other countries, many dont give it as routine, many do oral only, etc.
If you intend on breastfeeding, you can actually up the amount of VitK you have in your milk (Vit K is fat soluble) by eating plenty of asparagus, cauliflower, spinach, and some others immediately prior to labor and indeed during labour if you can stomach food.
I will try and find some of the links we found when researching it and come back![]()
Thanks LimeSlice![]()
I had found loads while googling, alot of it is government guidelines (ie. not really information, but moreso reasons why it's recommended to have the injection).
If you can post any of the links you found helpful, that would be great! (Or PM if unable to post them).
