How come no one likes this name?

    Okay,

So we are not TTC yet but am excited about having another baby (TTC next yr probably).

So DH and I finally agreed on the names:

If it is DD2, she will be named Ashlyn
If DS1, he will be named Dylan (I JUST LOVE THAT NAME!)

So DD1 is named Caitlyn, meaning pure in Irish, Ashlyn meaning dream

hence both names will mean a Pure Dream *awww* LOL

BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTT How come no one likes the name Ashlyn? I tell people and their reaction is Dylan is nice but i am not sure about Ashlyn ... shortened to Ash.

Gosh, i shouldn't have asked anyone since now I am having second thoughts.

So what do you guys think and is there any other nice names ending with lyn?

    Cheers!

i dont see anything wrong with it.
As a mummy of a ashley lol i dont mind the lyn variation.

Try screaming it a few times and if you still like the sound of it who cares what others say.

i actually heard of a BOY called Asher the other day. which i think was interesting too

I don't mind Ashlyn, but must admit I do prefer Asha, (Dp wouldn't have a bar of it when I was pg tho) but honestly, your bub, your choice you can't please everyone, there will always be someone who has something to say so if you like Ashlyn go for it.. It is hard enough you and your partner agreeing on a name without letting other people have a say too!

I love it! And if you love it too then thats raelly all that matters, I think its great, I think the meaning is gorgeous, and ignore anyone else as its not their decision. And anyway, people who aren't sure of it... well its not like your naming your child Moonunit

I love it! Don't think I've heard it before but have just sat here and said it out loud a few times and it sounds so pretty!!!

We didn't tell anyone names we liked before we had ds for this reason, too many people have opinions and at the end of the day it's your child! You get to choose the name! Unless they're going to deal with the all night screaming, vomiting and everything else that comes with the baby they don't get a say!

Hun, my daughters name is Ashlyn and everyone comments on how beautiful it is. I dont care if they are lying or not because we love it so much and it suits her to a tee!

You do what ever you like hun. It will be your DD if it is a DD and its no one elses business. Just dont tell anyone any of your ideas. Its hard enough naming your child without other peoples opinions.

Yeah, you're asking the wrong people hon. I LOVE Ashlyn! It was on our shortlist but our SIL is Ashlee so we decided it would be a bit much.

It's a gorgeous name and Dylan is too!

I really like the name Ashlyn, i know two Ashlyn's its a pretty name. Honestly whenever you tell people the name's you like they always have something bad to say, i have learned just to go with whatever you and your partner like and don't listen to anyone.. If i was to have another baby although i am NOT lol i just would not tell anyone the name until we have bubs, its not worth the stress.

Good luck with TTC and Ashlyn is very pretty!!!

Never tell people what you plan to call your child... they will generally use the opportunity to be critical... if you keep it a secret until afterwards you won't hear anything negative unless they are prepared to be called rude! People used to ask me what I planned on calling my children but I refused, saying that I had heard too many stories of people being critical and you can NEVER please everyone so it's not worth it. It annoyed my mum I think but stuff it... I am glad I held firm.

Asher is an old Hebrew name PP (means blessed abundance) - up until quite recently I had only ever known of it as a male name.

Ashlyn is a lovely Gaelic name - the traditional spelling is Aisling (or sometimes Aislin), but it is commonly anglicised to Ashlyn. If you like it and think that it fits your family, who cares what others think.

I've always thought of Asha as a girl's name because of Asha Bhosle.

I'm not a fan of Ashlyn. I can't say why without sounding like a total snob so I'll leave it at that.
I love Caityn but it does my head in because I keep hearing it mispronounced like Kate-Lynn. It must be so annoying for the parent's of Caitlyns to be constantly having to correct pronounciation.

I would say Kate-lyn as well how should you say it? I also am not overly keen on lyn names... but then again only a small percentage of people like the names i have chosen for my kids so that's just life... there is no name that everyone likes!

Also do you pronounce Dylan "Dillon" or Dy-lan"?
