Red face Rolling causing sleep probs...

    Hi all,

My gorgeous 7 month old is a clever little roller (from back to tummy) which is very impressive and cute...until she does it several times thru the night and wakes herself (and then the rest of the household) up

A friend has mentioned that you can buy some kind of wrap that goes around the cot mattress and then does up around the bub's tummy to keep them sleeping on their back...I'm not convinced that this is a great idea, but that's probably just coz I've never heard of it before and I'm not sure how it could safely work??

Anyone heard of this, or better still, does anyone have any ideas that don't involve rushing out to buy another piece of baby paraphenalia (sp? )??

I don't mind too much coz 9 times outta 10 DD will resettle once I've flipped her over, rewrapped her and shoved the dummy in, but lately she?s getting quite upset and has continued to cry even after being re-settled, or alternatively, she?s wide awake and thinks it?s playtime, lol.

I realise that this is just a development issue, and that she?ll grow out of it, but at what age??

Just throwing this out there for some advice and opinions!! Thanks in advance...

You may well be already doing it, but when my bub was doing this, I slept him in a sleeping bag and very tightly tucked sheet and light blanket over the top... it will usually keep him in place! Some linen is better than others, and I've even tucked some in long ways IYKWIM... i.e. instead of the same orientation to the mattress, the long side is going across, with all ends very securly tucked (given they they're still not THAT tall in the cot at this age.

So saying, I think this is actually against SIDS recommendations - I think you're supposed to use a sleeping back without extra linen, but it does work for us. GL!

MY DS hasn't really grown out of it. He still rolls crawls, scuttles around and plays in bed in the middle of the night. He no longer needs resettling as he will chatter himself back to sleep when he is ready but i rarely find him under the covers in the mornings and ever since he could move he would escape them!

I did the same as Belfie and it worked for us too! We did buy a couple of different things first - one of those pillow things that they lie in and it was an absolute waste of money. The wrap you are looking for is called a Safe T Sleep Sleepwrap. I never used one because the sleeping bag worked for us but they look really good.

    Hi All,

My boy has been doing this for the past couple of weeks, and screams (his volume is set to 11) when he gets stuck against the cot- he can only roll in one direction.

And he is getting an extra feed or 2 which he wants but doesn't need, too...

My husband wants me to put him to sleep right up against the side, so he can't roll - do you think this is safe?
