    Hi all,

I am just starting to look for cot, prams, chest of drawers, car seats, everything !!!
I am in Sydney, so where would you recommend for bying all this? Is it best to buy everything in the same place?

Is the end of year finantial sale good to hurry and buy now?

    Thanks

Do you want to buy all brand new?

Try places like baby bunting, baby co etc I live in Vic so have no idea where they are in NSW.

Otherwise I got a great boori set (cot/toddler bed, change table) and tall boy (not boori) on ebay for $450, I picked up a great Swallow beena pram for $90 on ebay and a baby bath/changetable for $50 on ebay - will soon be bidding on a baby hammock as well on ebay.

There are always second hand places, trading post garage sales etc and even though the stuff is used you can get some great stuff that you couldn't tell that it was used.

    Best of luck

Ebay is worth a look for sure!!! I ended up getting cot & change table from a baby shop in Minchinbury (pm me if you want details and I will dig out the shop name). The "wardrobe" Im using is a friends old pantry lol (it was painted cream so nice and neutral, and when his clothes are so small I didnt think I would use hanging space) The "chest of drawers" is the desk from my old childhood bedroom set....the alcove where the chair would be is great for storing bulky stuff lol.
Pram and car seat I got from Target when they had a big sale on.
If I was do all my shopping over again, I would very seriously consider the cot and change table from Target or Big W.......I totally love my cot, but sometimes I think I spent an unneccessary amount on it!

if you're looking to buy new, or even get ideas of what you want before you look on ebay, there is Baby Kingdom which has stores in Sydney and also babies Galore.
if you buy in bulk you can usually get a good discount, or wait for the sales.
i got my cot and changetable at easter while it was on sale, and laybyed it til i was ready to pick it up. that way you can pay it off graduallly and then the shop stores it for you if you arent ready to have all the furniture at your place.

i have recently bought a few things off Gumtree and have had lots of success with purchasing second hand goods that are in great condition, at really cheap prices.

i bought my pram and car capsule from a friend so its worth asking around if you know anyone with kids.

also as mentioned Target and Big W are great esp when they are having a sale. i have also found Best & Less have some nice baby clothes.

    Thanks for the info.
we have decided not to hurry now for the ned of financial year sale. We have plenty of time and hopefully we will find any good sale later.

I already got the babies galore catalogue 2009, that will help me to see different options and then I will check on target, Big W and others.

    Thanks again

    good idea Mariana

it seems as though there are sales on all the time at the moment, so it wont be long before another sale. keep an eye on the baby kingdon website. sometimes they have 20% off manchester, for example, and other times they might have cot specials, so not everything is on sale at the same time.

i found that accumulating things gradually worked really well in terms of getting things on sale. look out for DJs sales too!

i have only bought about 4 or 5 items brand new that havent been on sale, everything else i have bought second hand or on sale, and its all really nice stuff too.
