Girls Nursery - how feminine is yours??

I have been looking at manchester online today and am wanting to "pretty up" out nursery.

I want it to be feminine but not OTT girly or tooooo pink. I have looked online at the Gossamer and Sofia manchester from baby bunting but not sure if it will be too much for a cot set and window fittings (we have a block out blind) and the walls are Ivoryish in tone . I am leaning more towards the Sofia range as it is softer iykwim but its hard to tell on the net what the stuff looks like too.

So I am wondering what did others do to pretty up their nursery for their baby girl ?? painting is not an option and I have teddy themed wall stickers with bluey purpley flowers.

We bought Em some amazing pinky coloured art prints on canvas from Roocci (google for website). We wanted under the sea stuff and found these at the baby expo. So pretty really jazzed up her room cause we are in defence housing we couldn't do anything to the walls and her furniture is dark cherry wood. So we didn't have anything that really said girl other wise!!

we have blue feature wall, burgundy curtains - could be either boy or girl nursery in that way - we girlified with star sun catchers in the window (probably wouldn't have done for a boy) and by having girly teddys and dolls around. nothing else is really girlified. all the bed linen is white and silver - so it's only the blankets we use while out and about that is pink - and her wraps and things. i like it - it's nice and simple...

We bought those baby-fairy puzzles, did them, glued them to a piece of cardboard, and framed them, and they're hanging in her room.

    Thats it though LOL

We have a fairy theme in Emily's room. We have 3 fairy canvases on one wall, that same wall is painted a light purple. Other than that, not much else. The canvases really make it girly. We do have either white or pink cot sheets/blanket, but nothing special.

Nae, what about removable stickers to jazz up the walls? Or wallpaper (I think you can get removable stuff now too) or even fabric of some sort to cover one wall for a feature wall. Some colourful rugs or big throw pillows to go in a corner for bub to play on/you to sit on.
When I was pg, I had my neice and nephew (7 and 4 at the time) paint a picture in suitable colours (unisex) and framed them. They look awesome! I also got a floating shelf from ikea and put her keepsakes and stuff I don't want her playing with on it. We don't really have a theme, and the room is unisex cause DS will have to go in there too eventually (when we finish co sleeping). A girlfriend of mine has some big black and white pics up on the wall of her bub when he was newborn, they're gorgeous, and look great too.

i found changing the curtains gave a real quick lift to the nursery without having to do anything drastic. I also bought some wall hangings. I went with the kidsline Camelot theme. It's a princess theme. I have seen both the Sofia and Gossamer lines. They are quite different. Both are girly and pink but Sofia is softer whereas Gossamer is bolder. Gossamer is a butterfly theme, Sofia is delicate and understated. Both are very nice, just personal preference. I always see the Gossamer set on sale at Toys R Us and there's lots on ebay.

I've got the Gossamer Wings linen for Ruby It's gorgeous!

I've also got a couple of other themes for when it's in the wash so at those times it's not quite so girly IYKWIM. Quite often I'll have a plain woolen blanket on the cot or I've got one with multi coloured stripes.

We painted a feature wall a dark lavender colour and have recently got some pink sheer curtains which aren't too over the top but still girly (got them from freedom furniture).

    Thanks all,

Lilias, I have some removable stickers up already as a border cute really they are teddy bear themed with little flowers - we do have a devil of a time getting them to stick though as we have internal lining boards and they are buckled because they are so old when it gets cold we find them peeling off

I found a website in America that sells a range of Kidsline products and one I have just fallen for is called "Lilac Garden" Its purple tones and butterfly theme, strong colours, pretty but not too bold. I think against the ivory tones of th ebedroom it will look nice.

I am looking at just the curtains, cot set and a couple of throw pillows which will help break up the room a bit more. I just hope it fits a boori size toddler bed/cot

    Thanks all for you suggestions

    greatly appreciated

GRRRRR Well I emailed the Amaerican website which stated they will post internationally and I got a very rude, less than 10 word response saying "we don't post to that address" Lucky they don't actually coz I would be less likely to buy from them if thats how they communicate with customers.

    SO RUDE.

*sigh* I knew it was too good to be true finding the lovely lilac linen set. I have also seen the rocking horse set from Linen something which is cute too

DH and I may have another look at the Gossamer and Sofia sets and see how we go from there
