    PCOS and pregnancy

    Hi girls,

i just want to say to you all not to lose hope to fall pregnant.

I have always suffered from severe PCOS, I have my AF once or twice a year. it has been since October last year that I have had AF.

Last week my ob prescribed me clomid in the hope for my cycles to return along with a drug to force my AF to come. Luckely for me I had not started it yet.

I was at the chemist 2 days ago and saw all these pregnancy test and could not resist buying one although I knew it was like 99% I wasnt pregnant. I came home and did the test waiting for the tears of disappointment to come and cursing myself for buying a test... I just put it into the closet (dont ask me why) and 5 min later I decided to go and have alook. I was in shock when I saw a BFP!!!!

I saw my doc today and he did a bloodtest and tonight i have a Ultrasound scheduled to find out how far along I am as like I said it has been 9 months since my last cycle.

So ladies my conclusion is not to lose hope!!!!!!

I just got back from the hospital. Seems it is approx 3 weeks after conception. They added 2 weeks to determine my due date so all up 5 weeks!

I pray and hope it sticks!!!

    Hello and congratulations!
was diagnosed 2 weeks ago with pcos after trying to conceive for 7 months. It wasnt the trying for 7 months that had me worried as much as the irregular periods and acne etc so had a suspicion that i had pcos. I have my first appointment with the Gyno tomorrow. Am excited but trying not to get too carried away! does anyone know whether i will be given medication straight away? i really hope so!

He brought up that i may have endometriosis and need a lap etc which sounds so scary. not sure which is worse pcos which is ongoing and depressing or endometriousis and needing surgery!

    Congrats hun!
Hope your pregnancy is a happy and healthy one.

I was diagnosed with PCOS and insulin resistance at 21 and had a dr tell me my chance concieving naturally was unlikey. I was prescribed diabex and dianne. I went on to have a relative healthy pregnancy with only a cople of complications (high BP, and higher glucose levels). It is possible, try and stay positive. I know it can be hard at times - believe me I know!

All the best of luck I hope things turn out well for you.

Why did they put you on dianne? I have PCOS and an insulin resistance and they put me on diabex and yasmin. I assumed thats what they put everyone on..

Different levels of hormones in each pill i guess. Each persons level would be slightly different meaning different things are needed.

Oh ok, fair enough. How long did it take for you insulin levels to go down? I'm hoping i can TTC this time next year.

I was having meds for about 2 years before we fell pg. In saying that we weren't trying before then though
It took about 6 months my levels to come down. I also made sure I stuck to a low GI diet and exercised regularly.

Hey im 23 and have just been diagnosed with PCOS, as having been off BC for 18 mths and no luck in falling, my doc decided to send me to a gyno. The only symtom I had was a few pimples here and there no weight gain at all in fact I lost weight when I went off the pill. Apparently there are 2 versions of PCOS and I have the not as common one. My gyny has put me on Yasmin, as I have just started a new job and want to stay there for about 6 mths b4 I try to get pregnant again, then he said hes goin to put me on fertility drugs when I decide its time after the pill. I just want to say that your posts have given me and my husband hope again after such a long time. Thanks again and good luck with the pregnancy hope it all goes really well.

    Hi there.

I'm not sure if you have read my post "i recently found out i have PCOS" or something along those lines.. I was diagnosed a few weeks ago. I have the weight gain, the pimples, the excess body hair (not alot but its there) and a very irregular cycle. I went to the doctor because i was worried that i hadn't fallen pregnant, me and my partner haven't been careful at all.. and i mentioned that to him and he tested me for PCOS and Endometerosis. I also have an insulin resistance which made losing weight impossible so i have been put on metformin (diabex vr) and yasmin. I am to be on the both of them for 3 months and i will have another lot of bloods done. I am hoping they come back with better results as i would like to TTC early next year.

This site has helped me out alot, as i was absolutely devastated when i found out but since reading other ladies stories and hearing their advice i feel much better

Welcome to the site and wish you all the best in the future

Help - new and clueless to this game!

Hi girls, I need some advice Smile

I have PCOS and have been on provera and clomid for the past 18 months - no ovulation at all!
I had ovarian drilling, laparoscopy and hysteroscopy 3 1/2 weeks ago (all looking good) and I finally ovulated for the first time in years 10 days ago - I think??? I have the ovulation test sticks - but the test line came up lighter than the control line around the time I was supposed to ovulate and the instructions say that is negative! However Dr told me I O'd because I had a Day 21 blood test and progesterone levels were 32.6 when they used to be 1.9 average prior to the drilling procedure. Anyway so there is a small chance I could be pregnant seeing I ovulated this month.

My questions are - seeing I ovulated, will I definitely get my period 14 days later (provided I'm not pregnant)?
If I don't get my period by day 32, does that mean I could be pregnant or could my body do it's usual thing and not menstruate? - even though I ovulated this month?
If I did indeed ovulate Day 18 of my cycle, does that mean my cycle will be 32 days this month?

I had niggling, throbbing pain for a few hours above my pubic area but to the left 2 days ago and worse yesterday on the right side. Today - nothing. I had a small smear of pink on the toilet paper today but no period as yet. But I'm not expecting it until day 32 and I'm only on day 28 anyway.
I also have really sore breasts - but they have been sore pretty much since around the time that "I think" I ovulated (day 1Cool.

Sorry for so many questions and probably silly ones, but I'm going crazy!

Any advice would be really appreciated Smile

    Thanks
