Exclamation Cervical Suture - Your Experiences pretty pretty please

    Howdy everyone,

Well talks are onthe table for me to get a stitch once we get down to 2cm (current cervix length is 2.8) I have no funneling or pitting so assuming this remains the case I know the risk of rupture is not terribly high.

I am wondering what your experience was like pain wise, bleeding wise etc, whether or not you were/are being kept on bed rest, or partial rest, or whether after some time you were able to resume normal day to day activities.

Please share your "post stitch" experiences so I have an idea of what I am in for.

    Ta Muchly

    Thanks Rachel and Mel,

I really do want to avoid one but I think knowing how others went will be beneficial, not just for me but for others in the future who find themselves in the same place.
I have never had a stitch anywhere before funny how my very first possibly will end up in my girly bits I can't even show it off to anyone

    Hi Nae,
I hope someone replies soon. I'm interested in how it all works too.
Good luck! Here's hoping you don't actually need one.

    Nae,
I may have already told you my story but I'll pop it here again.
Previous appointments with my obst confirmed that he would suture my cervix shut at 12 weeks.
The day before my surgery I made the trip to the obst office to get a scan done for viability to check whether bubs was still alive and no other problems had arisin.
The morning of the surgery I spoke to the anaesthesis and we decided because I was earlier in my pregnancy I could in fact have a general rather than a spinal block.
I was taken to the daystay part of the hospital whilst there general blood pressure and gowning up for the surgery.
I was taken to the theatre and was placed under. There was no pain after the surgery a little blood loss...like the last day of your period. The suture is like a leather shoe lace and is pursed stringed around the cervix and tied off...I have mine I stayed in hospital for the night had a injection for DVT and some medication of anti-botics and pain relief placed ever so nicely up my bottom.
I went home the next day with a scan request for 2 weeks later to check if the stitch was placed favourably. I went home to my parents house and stayed in bed for a week..a little bleeding no more than a pad a day actually pretty much more a panty liner. Pain was minimal no cramping and really there was no side effects.
I put myself on rest...stayed off my feet as much as possible even just sitting on the couch. I never carried anything heavier than the light supermarket bag, never had sex, never had any bowel movements that required hard work.
My scan showed the stitch was in the best possible spot so fortnightly monitoring was done.
My stitch was taken out at 37 weeks, I had requested a c-sect too many memories for birthing stillborns and was scared because my cervix dilates with no pain.
The stitch was taken out after Eliza was born, once again there was no pain.
Hope it helps..let me know if you have any further questions

Nae no advice or experience here either just good luck with whatever happens. Your right one of the cool things about stitches is showing off the scars, that's not one you want to be showing off to ppl I had 27 stitches in my tummy after a car accident and removal of part of my pancreas and I love showing off my scar

I don't have any experiences either. I just wanted to wish you luck if you need to have it done.

I so know what you mean. All 3 stitches I've ever had were all in my girly parts too from when my boys were born.
