Anyone heard of this before?

Just wondering who has heard of this or come up against it before?

The story is from a 'friend of a sister of a friend' ... so I only know what I'm told but I think it's fairly accurate.

Apparently this lady's Drs will not let her go more than 6-7 days post dates due to the pressure on her scar of the baby sitting there for too long. The only option then is C-section.

I thought this was odd... I have spoken to the hospital about my dates, all my prev bub s were late & I specifically wanted to know how long they would let me go, I was told 13 days with monitoring...the Dr actually said 'if we are going to support you in your VBAC I don't see why we wouldn't give you every chance of going into labour on your own'...makes sense to me, right!

Then last night I hear this lady has been admitted to hosp overnight 2 days past her due date & told if there is no labour overnight & they can't break her waters, then it's CS in the morning. She isn't happy apparently...can you blame her?

This just sounds odd to me, I have never heard of going past dates being a problem after CS? And my baby looks like she's going to be BIG

ETA - I should add - her situation & mine are very similar, she has had one VB (I've had 2) one CS, this is first attempt at VBAC and neither of us are 'small' ladies, not delicate or anything!

it sounds a bit confusing doesnt it?
i find some drs just want to push and get things done hurry ya up! I think if ya want it bad or anyone just dig ya heels in, that's what some midwifes have told me or else they will push for whats easiest for them.

I don't know if this is "right" but I think different hospitals and different Drs have different opinions on how they do things. Maybe this other lady is in a place that is not so supportive of VBAC? I also think some Drs are too quick to bring out the scalpel and that they would prefer to cut rather than support the mothers choice, but thats just my opinion.

Um yeah, thats a case of an unsupportive medical professional!!!!

My OB is happy for me to go up to 42 + 5 if I want to - with monitoring. I have refused that though and I have a limit that I will go to and then accept that c-section might be the way, but that is totally my decision, and nothing to do with what my OB thinks.

I'm sorry that she has an unsupportive doc behind her, especially at this late stage. That makes me very sad to hear that.

I was also given until 42 weeks, but have heard that other doctors are not so happy with that idea. But then some doctors don't like anyone going past 40 weeks. My ob didn't even want to worry about monitoring until I was past 41 weeks. As it turned out I only got to 40+2 so didn't need to worry.
Try not to stress about other people's situations. There is no particular issue with going post dates just because you have had a c/s before. Stress is also likely to stop you from going into labour spontaneously so deadlines are a bad idea. Be happy that your ob has given you a realistic time frame.

It IS sad... I feel for her.
I'm very fortunate to have had an entirely different reaction from the Drs at my hospital.
I also feel lucky to have found BB... there is so much that if you don't know, you're really on your own against some of these Drs.

For the record, my GP is slightly leaning towards another CS - he told me the other day it would be too hard for me to continue much further and it would be easier to have an other CS - oh yeah, cause 6 weeks of recovery is soo much easier! but I never pay much attention to him anyway, he checks my BP & bubs HR & that's about it. My birth questions are saved for the hospital (and BB!)
