Unhappy Reducing amniotic fluid at 34 weeks?

    Hi Ladies,

I had a growth scan today (34 wks) as my prev bub had significant IUGR. This bub is growing well but today's scan showed a reduction in amniotic fluid from the previous growth scan done at 28 weeks. My fluid has gone from 11.6 to 8.0, the Dr reviewing the scan recommended a repeat scan in a week. I will discuss this with my OB tomorrow.

I asked what can cause it and Dr said either rupture of membranes or placenta not coping - my placenta with DS didnt cope at all well and we had to deliver at 36 weeks (he was only 3lb 10oz).

Has anyone else had this? Does anyone know if that rate of decrease is a worry? Thats a 30% drop going by my maths...

    Thanks,

    Rachel

My girlfriend at hardly any fluid and she was monitored weekly (or even more) for the last 6-8 weeks. In the end she had a caesar at 38 weeks (baby was breech) and she was born at about 2.5kg. It was a concern but nothing to stress about too much because they kept a really good eye on her.

Hi I don't have the answer for you either but I am sure you are in good hands. Best of luck am sure you will be fine, even if an early delivery
