    breastfeeding covers/blankets

Hi, was just wondering if you have any advise if its worth it getting one of those breastfeeding cover/blanket thingys

i didnt have one with DS, but then i am going to be out and about much more this time around and cant drag DS to a mothers room everytime i need to feed bub. i am very modest and feel very uncomfortable feeding in public with anything showing.

ive had a look at a few of them, but am starting to wonder if it will be worth the money or just use a muslin wrap to hang over my shoulder instead??

    any advise much appreciated!

    thanks, mel

The couple of times I wanted to cover up I just put one of DD blankets over my shoulder but, when she got a bit older she started to pull it off

    Muslin Wrap

With our DD i just used a muslin wrap tucked into my shirt, it's light enough that it didn't smother her but covered everything.

I didn't see the point in paying for something specifically when the blankets i already had worked fine.

Aslong as your comfortable a blanket works perfect, tuck it into your top and the wrap around under bubs under arm and then tuck back into the front of your top on the other side.

    Hope that helps.

    GL with it all.

When I was BF I just used a cloth nappy for public feeding cause I had little sticky beaks LOL - didn't fancy a boob left hanging out for all to see if they pulled off.

I just used the muslin wrap or the cloth nappy too. This time I am hoping I can do it discreetly in the baby carrier being summer and all...

I just used a muslin when out and about, they are so cheap and easy. Save your money and get yourself a nice treat instead

I bought a breastfeeding wrap (not a blanket or shawl), thinking that I would be using it a fair bit. Then discovered once I tried feeding with it, that it was really hot for DS and me (and this is in winter) and I couldn't see easily whether DS was on properly or not. I haven't used it since. I have really only fed in front of a few friends in the end who thankfully aren't fussed about me feeding DS in front of them (and I got over the feeling embarrassed pretty quickly). I think I might still use the wrap, but more as a wrap for me rather than as a breastfeeding wrap at this stage. It was marketed as being a wrap for mum as well as a breastfeeding wrap. (Mind you I haven't tried to feed while out shopping, only at friends' places and church or home might change my mind later but if I do, I'll probably use a muslin wrap as it's a bit cooler)
